Do you see now how screwed the poor and middle classes are, thanks to Bush and Bernanke?

Wages flat to declining

Real inflation (not the government's BS number) out of control

Home prices tanking while property taxes remain the same

Dollar in freefall

Jobs going away

Gas prices soaring

Basic food prices at record levels

Thank you George Bush. Thank you Ben Bernanke. And for the 50 million Americans who voted for this idiot - twice - because you hate the fags, are afraid of the bogeyman and were worried about flag burning - you got hoodwinked, you got suckered.

Nice job.

Open thread to talk about Bush's LAST state of the union speech

"The state of our union is evident in the number of for-sale signs that we pass before we even hit the first stop sign on our way to our jobs. It is evident in the houses long-ago foreclosed, still sitting vacant with boarded-up windows. The state of our union is dire."

— Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md.

¿¡Revolución!? Ben Bernanke and George Bush are killing America. Anyone care?

At what point do screwed Americans take to the streets? At what point in this downfall does violence break out? At what point do people say enough is enough?

Or does that point never come?

Interesting results so far in the HP flash poll on the Fed meeting this week. 95% of HP'ers think the Fed should hold or raise rates. Yet 73% think Ben will cut. Can you say disconnect? Can you say Screw America?

Washington Post: Is Bailing Out Reckless Investors Wise? Don't Bank on It

Last summer, the bill started to come due on our debt-fueled economy. We should have let it -- and let reckless speculators, subprime lenders and banks finally get what they had coming. But instead, the financial authorities let them off the hook. Rather than simply letting markets be markets, they bailed out both the fools and the knaves.

We'll all live to regret it.

But bad investments do not become good ones just because a central bank lends more money to the investors who made the rash choices. Problems caused by too much credit do not disappear when you hand out even more credit. And the syndrome that such moves create only makes our economic woes worse.

$2,400,000,000,000 - The Congressional Budget Office finally admits the truth about George Bush's Wars

George Bush stole at least $2.4 Trillion from the American people, and Congress (and 51% of voters) went along for the ride. $2.4 Trillion? I thought oil revenues would pay for the war? I thought it was only $110 billion? I thought we'd be greeted as liberators? I thought the mission was accomplished?

Folks, you wonder why our dollar is becoming worthless and our nation's infrastructure is falling apart? Look no farther than the $2.4 Trillion George Bush and Dick Cheney wasted on their wars. And the fact that we financed these wars by borrowing from China and foreigners versus asking for any sort of sacrifice on the home front will make matters down the road that much worse.

2001 - 2008 will be looked at as a wasteful, shameful and corrupt period of American history, with the short-lived housing bubble gains (we're rich! we're rich! who cares about anything else!) having helped cause a mass hypnosis.

Your kids, their kids, their kids, their kids and their kids will be paying for George Bush's mistakes. And Americans who voted for this trainwreck (twice) will be to blame.

The U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan could cost taxpayers a total of $2.4 trillion by 2017 when counting the huge interest costs because combat is being financed with borrowed money
, according to a study released on Wednesday.

With President George W. Bush indicating a large contingent of U.S. troops likely will be engaged in Iraq and Afghanistan for many years to come, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated the total tab for the wars from 2001 through 2017.

CBO estimated that interest costs alone from 2001-2017 could total more than $700 billion.

It's your fault Americans. You made your mistakes. You supported corrupt incompetent idiots. And now, "we must reclaim our dignity and our honor"

"Government is not a solution to our problem, government is the problem."

-Ronald Reagan, 1980

Donate to Ron Paul here.

It's time for America to pull its head out of its ass.

This administration stands indicted for incompetence and mendacity. That it still commands the loyalty of even a quarter of our fellow citizens is testament to the persistence of willful ignorance. Against all the facts assembled in this indictment, that the administration's operatives can still make claims on strength, security, and determination is chutzpah on stilts.

That the media still treat these operatives and spokespersons, and indeed the president himself, seriously is witness to their desire for "access" and "sources" rather than their commitment to the truth.

America is today under the steady gaze of billions of the world's citizens and even more under the examining lens of history. Nothing is more difficult than to admit that we made a tragic mistake in selecting our leaders. But that is the first step toward redemption. Absolute rejection of those who lay claim to ownership of security is the next.

We are too old to behave as adolescents any longer. That includes particularly our president. America must grow up. We must redeem ourselves in the name of those who lost their lives unnecessarily six years ago. We must reclaim our dignity and our honor from those who have neither.

Want proof that the incompetent Bush Administration is partly responsible for the Housing Bubble? Here you go...

Housing Doom brings you the smoking gun. This will make you laugh, then it will make you mad. Our nation was run by monkeys these past 6 years. And now the house of cards is all falling apart. The Bush Administration - the best president the homebuilders' and NAR's money could buy.

From Bush's HUD secretary Martinez in 2003, addressing the puppetmaster homebuilders:

We also must work in close partnership to dispel the myth that our nation is experiencing a "housing bubble."

Although the United States is the best-housed nation in the world, we as a country still face a housing shortage. In fact, housing experts, economists and analysts met this past week at a conference in California and concluded that the momentum gained from low mortgage interest rates will carry strong home sales through the end of this year.

Not long after 9-11, however, a number of leading experts predicted that the housing bubble would burst. They were clearly wrong. Instead, many Americans chose to simply delay, rather than cancel, their plans to buy. And home purchases ended up reaching an all-time high in 2001. While the final numbers are not in, sales in 2002 are expected to eclipse the 2001 record.

Bubbles of course do burst, but the housing market is not in the same category of other weaker and less competitive sectors of the economy.

Plus, this Administration is making it easier for people to purchase their own homes - a change that will help drive home development and sales. And, it will help more minorities become homeowners.

It's George Bush's "National Homeownership Month". It's also HP's "National I Sure Hope You've Sold and Are Renting Month"

What else would you expect from the worst president in US history? But hey, it's nice to see the National Association of Homebuilders and National Association of Realtors and the National Association of Mortgage Brokers get what they paid for, eh?

Bush's thinking: Hey, let's tell the suckers to go out and buy a home, regardless of price, regardless of the fundamentals and regardless whether they can afford it. That'd be cool! Maybe we should call it "National Pay Big Commissions to REALTORS and Mortgage Brokers Month". Or "National They Ain't Makin' More Land Month", or maybe even "National If You Don't Buy Now You'll Be Priced Out Forever Month".

The Great Housing Crash will make this guy not just the worst president in US history. He'll be ushered out of office as the least popular president in US history too. Good riddance.

National Homeownership Month, 2007 (Also called "National Massive NAR PAC funding thank you month")

A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America

Owning a home is part of the American dream, and National Homeownership Month is an opportunity to encourage our citizens to explore the benefits of owning a home.
Owning a home provides a source of security and stability for many of our citizens.

My Administration is committed to fostering an ownership society and helping more Americans realize the great promise of our country. Today, nearly 70 percent of Americans own their homes, and the rate of minority homeownership has climbed to above 50 percent since I took office in 2001.

In addition, the American Dream Downpayment Act of 2003 is helping thousands of low to moderate income and minority families with the downpayment and closing costs on their homes.

During National Homeownership Month and throughout the year, I urge citizens to consider homeownership opportunities in their communities, and I applaud American homeowners for helping fuel the economy.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 2007 as National Homeownership Month. I call upon the people of the United States to join me in recognizing the importance of homeownership and building a more prosperous future.

I've gotta hand it to George Bush (the worst president in history) - he makes for a pretty chart

Kinda looks like the chart housing prices are going to make over the next few years....

Will the Great Housing Crash solidify Bush's standing as the worst president in US history?

No, it's not all his fault, but as you all know, what happens on your watch as president, good or bad, is your responsibility in the eyes of the public, like Herbert Hoover during the Great Depression.

Where Bush will really get rung up will be his misguided call for an "ownership society", encouraging people to buy homes at the peak regardless of their financial standing, ability to pay or rent versus own fundamentals.

He'll also be seen as aiding an out of control REIC, never bothering to call for regulation of what was an obviously out of control mess of corruption, system gaming and fraud.

So, simple question, will this epic, historic, devastating housing crash seal the deal with the already historically unpopular George W. Bush in the American population's eyes?

Will Bush be seen as the worst president in the history of the United States of America?

Happy President's Day America. Question: How do you celebrate living under the worst president in the history of the United States?

Pat Buchanan (R): "Iraq is the worst strategic blunder in our lifetime. And for it, George W. Bush, his War Cabinet, and the neoconservatives who plotted and planned this war for a decade bear full responsibility."

Sen. Harry Reid (D): "This (Iraq) war is a serious situation. It involves the worst foreign policy mistake in the history of this country"

Helen Thomas (AP): “This is the worst President ever. He [George W. Bush] is the worst President in all of American history.”

Sen. Chuck Hagel (R): "I think this speech given last night by this president represents the most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since Vietnam if it's carried out."

Fred Dattolo (author): "When it starts to unravel, it will likely lead to the biggest bubble bust in world history, hurtling the U.S. economy into chaos, reminiscent of the Great Depression—or worse."

January 2007 AP/AOL poll: Two-thirds of Americans, 66 percent, think the country is on the wrong track.

GAO Report 2006 recapped: The US is insolvent. There is simply no way for our national bills to be paid under current levels of taxation and promised benefits. Our combined federal deficits now total more than 400% of GDP.

Joe Scarborough (R): "In Bush’s Washington, the capital is a much clubbier place where everyone in the White House knows someone on the Hill who worked with the Old Man, summered in Maine, or pledged DKE at Yale. The result? Chummy relationships, no vetoes, and record-breaking debts"
