How do you stop stupid people from themselves?

How do you stop the crack smoker from smoking crack?

How do you stop the gambler from gambling?

How do you stop the Bush voter from voting?

And how do you stop the poor dumb guy from taking out a $1,500,000 loan with no money down?

Exhibit A:

"I make $50,000 as a schoolteacher," he says. "There's no way I should have been approved for loans that big."

Try leading by example, I have a hard time with people living beyond their means. The guy across the street just bought a new truck and came by to show it off and I have a nice Toyota Tundra sitting in the driveway that I had for 3 years. He starts talking about how much his payments are he starts adding up all the extra cost (GAP) I had to think for a second what the hell that is. Any ways he asks what my payments are and I said oh it payed for. I wish I could have a picture of his face. Nice guy, but no clue about money. He just got is house loan into a fixed rate, because the extra 200 a month was killing him and then goes out and buys a big Dodge truck and take on a lot more monthly costs.

Keefer,

You should be asking how much cash back this dude got for ruining his credit?

RE: "I make $50,000 as a schoolteacher," he says. "There's no way I should have been approved for loans that big."

Fees and commissions were the bait on the hook.

Borrow and spend was the mantra.

As long as real estate prices remained greater than the amount of the loans, there would be very few foreclosures.

Taking "free money" out of homes was the smart way to go.

There was no need to save money when you could retire on the house.

Then, the great real estate pyramid of the 21st century collapsed and started to take the whole world down with it.

Just because someone offers you a big loan that you can't afford doesn't mean that you have to accept it.

"I've never seen it this bad," says Gregory Messer, a Brooklyn bankruptcy attorney. "There were times where there were more bankruptcies, but I don't know if I've ever seen so many people prepared to walk away from their houses."

Bankruptcies are typically prompted by catastrophic events such as accidents, illnesses or divorce. The latest wave is different because the driving force is the mortgage crisis. Hit with monthly payments on subprime loans that suddenly increased by hundreds of dollars or more, many New Yorkers, already squeezed by rising gas and food prices, maxed out their credit cards in order to meet their obligations.

Buh buh buh we thought that you ultraliberals running states like NY and bankrupt CA knew better.

Aren't you guys the hot sh!t who love to lick the boots of types like Feinstein and Boxer? What happened?

Are you telling us that your administration and models are a failure for states? If so, why are you trying to convince us that you would be better by running the entire country with your boy Hussein and his endorser party-boy John Edwards?

I know that common sense is a rare commodity in the US these days, but you can't just ignore this one.

Oh, let me show you the results of another "wonderful" policy from the Democratic party :

Reuters -- Hispanics are the only ethnic group now producing more than two children per family, according to a Census Bureau report released Monday.

''The Hispanic population is growing; whites and Asians are not replacing themselves,'' said Jane Dye, the Census Bureau demographer who wrote the study. The average U.S. woman produces 1.9 children, but broken down by ethnicity, the numbers are 1.7 for Asian Americans, 1.8 for non-Hispanic whites, 2.0 for blacks and 2.3 for Hispanics. Native Americans weren't included in the report.

So now do you believe that illegals are breeding like flies and will vote their low-life counterparts into office to run this country down like they did with their own country of origin? You should thank your big hero Jimmy Carter, Feinstein, and all the other morons in the Democratic party. They will destroy this country with their policy of open borders and infinite importing of poverty from third world countries.

While the responsible taxpayer has less children because it's too expensive to have them, the illegals and other minorities are breeding like flies. Then the productive, responsible, and honest taxpayer picks up the tab for social services, schools, incarceration, pollution, infrastructure, healthcare, depressed wages, Medicare fraud, law enforcement, housing ponzi scheme, etc.

No wonder Hussein is telling Americans to learn Spanish.

How about "how to stop anyone for voting for the idiots in both parties?"

C'mon people, this is not rocket science. We have a duopoly, and it needs to be broken.

All they do is do this. This time, one party screws us, then the other party comes into power and they screw us. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Idiot: buys million dollars house using I/O loan and $0 down. Lives in said house for 2 years making minimal payments. Takes out $100K in HELOC money and buys a boat and Escalade. After 2 years forecloses, walks away with $0 in personal loss and rents shithole apartment in year 3. Still has boat and Escalade.

Smart person (HPer): rents shithole apartment for the same amount as idiot's mortgage payment. Lives in apartment for 2 years and has $0 personal loss and continues to rent shithole apartment in year 3. Has no boat, has no Escalade, still drives 1994 Honda Accord with 200K miles.

Only difference is idiot's fico is 500. But so what? The 0% credit card offers are still coming in the mail for the idiot. And in a year or two lenders will be throwing money at him to buy a house.

At the end of the day, the idiots look pretty smart.

Anonymous said...

I couldn't save my aunt, uncle and cousin since my cousin recently bought a house after he had his first child; I told them to wait a year and prices would come down and that renting would be cheaper but they were worried about the rented house being sold, etc... and, on top of this, my cousin said: "the banker told me that if I qualified for the loan, I shouldn't feel guilty about spending it!"

After looking at the area, the price-- $250,000 for a two bedroom, seemed high since most homes were going for $40,000 less so my cousin didn't understand "buy low, sell high" in order to leave an equity cushion for problems like a leaking roof, etc...

moreover, this whole situation was a learning experience for me since I have a math teaching license-- as well as an EE degree; In particular, I saw how some folks simply cannot think through the simplest of mathematical problems.

as far as I could tell, he and his family just wanted to feel happy by knowing that they "owned a home" even if other options, mathematically speaking, would have given them "free day care" by simply costing a lot less!

and I emphasize the "day care" costs since they're apparently struggling with them and, moreover, the house also came with much higher commuting costs in terms of gas and time.

Solution? Do nothing. The stupid people are already punishing themselves by their own stupid actions. If they do not learn from their repeated stupid activity, let them hit rock bottom. Arresting stupid people for doing stupid things to themselves is not more effective at preventing stupid behavior than the side effects of stupid behavior.

The exception is when stupid people do stupid things to *other people*. Then by all means, lock them up.

The fact that the middle class continues to believe the conservatives' lies has me convinced that you can't fix stupid.

"Vote republican and we'll lower your taxes so you can all go out and buy all that stuff you see the rich people have! Then your friends and relatives will be very impressed!"

Stupid brainstems have been believing that for over 30 years. Meanwhile, their struggles to make ends meet increase while the top 5%get 99% of the goodies! I couldn't be happier watching the ignorant middle class take it in the ass.

My favorite part are the "reagan democrats" who abandoned their party back in the 80s to vote for the republicans who they thought were going to cut off the poor who the blue collar idiots blame for their taxes. Too bad the republicans also took the cushy union jobs and destroyed them as well.

Now those stupid brainstems and their fat, stupid offspring are working at WalMart, folding clothes next to Mom for $5.15 an hour.

But still they back the republicans. Amazing but still enjoyable for me. I fantasize about vast tent cities filled with republican voters, desperate to feed and clothe themselves, punished severely for their ignorance, selfishness and greed.

Nope, doesn't work that way. HELOC's are recourse loans. You have to pay back the loan or else file BK in which case you lose any valuable assets like boats and expensive cars. Banks don't give out cash without recourse.

An interesting piece of research:

Not only does it find that the average literacy of college educated Americans declined significantly from 1992 to 2003, but it also reveals that just 25 percent of college graduates — and only 31 percent of those with at least some graduate studies — scored high enough on the tests to be deemed “proficient” from a literacy standpoint.

AND

Based on their scores, participants in the survey were deemed to have “basic,” “intermediate” or “proficient” literacy (Whitehurst noted that a National Research Council committee that recommended the literacy levels initially called the highest level “advanced,” but that department officials ultimately concluded that the skills required for that category — comparing viewpoints in two editorials, for instance, or calculating the cost per ounce of different grocery items — weren’t really all that advanced.)

SOURCE: Graduated but Not Literate

Folks really need to stop worrying about Bush and worry about themselves.

Is John McCain another George W. Bush???!!!!

Cafferty nails it--

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Russia invades Georgia and President Bush goes on vacation. Our president has spent one-third of his entire two terms in office either at Camp David, Maryland, or at Crawford, Texas, on vacation.

His time away from the Oval Office included the month leading up to 9/11, when there were signs Osama bin Laden was planning to attack America, and the time Hurricane Katrina destroyed the city of New Orleans.

Sen. John McCain takes weekends off and limits his campaign events to one a day. He made an exception for the religious forum on Saturday at Saddleback Church in Southern California.

I think he made a big mistake. When he was invited last spring to attend a discussion of the role of faith in his life with Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, at Messiah College in Pennsylvania, McCain didn't bother to show up. Now I know why.

It occurs to me that John McCain is as intellectually shallow as our current president. When asked what his Christian faith means to him, his answer was a one-liner. "It means I'm saved and forgiven." Great scholars have wrestled with the meaning of faith for centuries. McCain then retold a story we've all heard a hundred times about a guard in Vietnam drawing a cross in the sand.

Asked about his greatest moral failure, he cited his first marriage, which ended in divorce. While saying it was his greatest moral failing, he offered nothing in the way of explanation. Why not?

Throughout the evening, McCain chose to recite portions of his stump speech as answers to the questions he was being asked. Why? He has lived 71 years. Surely he has some thoughts on what it all means that go beyond canned answers culled from the same speech he delivers every day.

He was asked "if evil exists." His response was to repeat for the umpteenth time that Osama bin Laden is a bad man and he will pursue him to "the gates of h***." That was it.

He was asked to define rich. After trying to dodge the question -- his wife is worth a reported $100 million -- he finally said he thought an income of $5 million was rich.

One after another, McCain's answers were shallow, simplistic, and trite. He showed the same intellectual curiosity that George Bush has -- virtually none.

Where are John McCain's writings exploring the vexing moral issues of our time? Where are his position papers setting forth his careful consideration of foreign policy, the welfare state, education, America's moral responsibility in the world, etc., etc., etc.?

John McCain graduated 894th in a class of 899 at the Naval Academy at Annapolis. His father and grandfather were four star admirals in the Navy. Some have suggested that might have played a role in McCain being admitted. His academic record was awful. And it shows over and over again whenever McCain is called upon to think on his feet.

He no longer allows reporters unfettered access to him aboard the "Straight Talk Express" for a reason. He simply makes too many mistakes. Unless he's reciting talking points or reading from notes or a TelePrompTer, John McCain is lost. He can drop bon mots at a bowling alley or diner -- short glib responses that get a chuckle, but beyond that McCain gets in over his head very quickly.

I am sick and tired of the president of the United States embarrassing me. The world we live in is too complex to entrust it to someone else whose idea of intellectual curiosity and grasp of foreign policy issues is to tell us he can look into Vladimir Putin's eyes and see into his soul.

George Bush's record as a student, military man, businessman and leader of the free world is one of constant failure. And the part that troubles me most is he seems content with himself.

He will leave office with the country $10 trillion in debt, fighting two wars, our international reputation in shambles, our government cloaked in secrecy and suspicion that his entire presidency has been a litany of broken laws and promises, our citizens' faith in our own country ripped to shreds. Yet Bush goes bumbling along, grinning and spewing moronic one-liners, as though nobody understands what a colossal failure he has been.

I fear to the depth of my being that John McCain is just like him.

Bull - If you have the cash, or the Escalade etc. the best the bank can hope for is to garnish your wages, and that is even difficult in some states. Face it, if you have the goodies, then you most likely will keep the goodies.

Banks are so busy trying to shore up balance sheets, they are not going to litigate the hundreds of thousands of debtors who just walk. That is the unfortunate reality. The idiots are going to end up being the ones that saved, and lived within their means. Those of us that did not spend like drunken sailors and cheating people will end up bailing out Fannie, Freddie - their crooked execs, and all the other slime because the US economy is too big to fail.....sad but true...

Proof positive

Mozillo - 200 million+ richer - has he been arrested - no. Will he, most likely not, even if he is, he just claims the 5th, pays a lawyer 5 million in legal fees, he still walks with 195 million. Guberment fines him 20 million (probably high) and he still walks with 175 million.

Many mortgage brokers / Realtors - made $1000 / week or more for 5+ years. Some lived high and have nothing left, however most (smart ones) saved the money, while screwing people left and right, and now live off of it. They don't care if they don't get another job, they don't need one. Once they burn through all that cash, the market will return. The people will have moved on to something else to complain about, and they will do the same thing. Very few of these guys are being arrested. Will more - yes. Will enough to even cover 1/100th of the fraud that occured in the last decade - not a chance.I don't know about you, but I would take those odds any day.

The sad truth is that most of this will all be forgotten in another couple of years. Remember the Dot com blow up and all the fraud and bubblizing - everyone bitched, we had a recession, a few people went under, some got arrested - result everyone forgot. Katrina - outrage, problems, government intervention - result everyone forgot and most problems still are not fixed. Mortgage and S&L crisis of the 90's, oil embargos of the 80's - it always is the same story, crash of 87....

That is what the problem is with this country. Crime DOES pay. Fraud DOES pay, and until we stop electing FRAUDSTERS from BOTH PARTIES to govern and enforce the laws, it will continue this way....

Ahh the USA

More stupid people who think the wealthy shouldn't have to pay taxes. More brainstems who still believe the old story that liberals want everyone on welfare. Same brainstems who believe republicans will cut their taxes and make their lives better. Well sure, let's let the wealthy keep all their money and stop paying to support the country they live in. Maybe they'll throw a few pennies your way, brainstem.

Meanwhile, the country is in the shitter after 30 years of conservative fiscal policies and republican rule.

Of course the brainstems don't know that at the high water mark of liberalism, 1965, we had 6% annual economic growth and the middle class was huge and thriving. We're lucky to get 3% growth now and the middle class is f*cked. No more cushy union jobs, life costing them more and more, their fat, stupid kids looking at a life of debt and lowered expectations and the top 1% is getting a bigger piece of the pie than the bottom 50%.

Actually, such a god raises a lot of questions like "Why didn't MY relative get the miracle?".

Of course I'm a "smug bastard" I'm a union man. You'd probably say I'm a liberal too but you'd be wrong.

Why do you people always go mental and start frothing at the mouth about illegals and welfare whenever the T word, taxes, is mentioned? Oh I know it is because you have been trained like Pavlov's dogs by talk radio and Fox News.

Reread my post. I say nothing about illegals or welfare. I only say that all of the federal taxes paid by Californian's should benefit Californian's. Illegals by definition are not Californian's so they should not benefit from our tax dollars.

As far as welfare goes "suffering brainstems" is right welfare makes up a miniscule portion of the state or federal budget but that is still too much. My philosophy is "If you want to eat, You got to work."

Tax dollars should be spent on nothing other than infrastructure (highways, dams, utilities), security/safety(police, fire, military and judicial system)and education. As far as welfare goes, that is what families and churches are for. If a person is unwilling or unable to take responsibilty for their own life it is not the duty of the tax payers to support them. As you phrased it "If I choose to be charitable, that is my choice." exactly, but our current system is "charity" at the point of a gun. And the only people who benefit from this system are the politicians.

California is home to more than 10 percent of the population of the United States. Los Angeles County alone is home to more people than 42 of the flyover states. What does California get as far as representation for its taxation 53 halfwits (Nancy Pelosi, David Dreier, Sonny Bono's widow!?!?! etc) that make up the California House of Representives delegation, and two useless Senators-for-Life.

It's no wonder the wealthiest state in the union is broke and can't even come up with a budget.

If any politician wants to talk about change you can believe in a free and independent California would be a good place to start.

While you diddle your mouse (euphemism or not, according to your own kink) and BS yourself (and any others who might be naive enough to believe you) about how you are somehow "doing good", I am working my ass off to provide for MY family. Not yours, not someone else's, but mine!

I've never asked a nickel from the government, and I've never begrudged paying for services that are part of the common good. My problem is that vocal flatulence like your particular brand sounds fun, but there is a distinct foul smell when you get down to it.

In the future, Sagging Meatflaps, or Shrinking Dinkus, or whatever you call yourself this week, try stepping out of the party line parade, learning a little something about the real world, and above all, never try to put words in someone else's mouth.

Poor Happy renter, he's embarrassed by his own ignorance.

I love the tough talk about punishing the poor. Hopefully, if you keep voting republican, you'll get a chance at seeing what it's like to be poor.

You people don't like paying for the services you use either. Your constant talk about welfare is how you attempt to hide your selfishness and distaste for supporting the society you live in.

And the California union guy and his tough talk about welfare and illegals. I remember hearing the reagan democrats spout the same garbage. Then POOF! their jobs are gone, shipped overseas. Keep voting for republicans and you too can join the millions working at WalMart for $5.15 an hour. SUCKERS.

Man, you people will never learn. But it sure is fun seeing you suffer while you cling to your ignorance.

Anonymous said...

Tough talk about illegals??? I said they are not Californians and should not benefit from our tax dollars. How is that tough talk?

As far as voting goes I never have and never will vote for a republican. The wing of the Democratic Party that has ceded commonsense responsibility to the republican party (who are not very good at it)are the ones who make the Democrats look like dithering idiots who want all the poor people to get a free ride.

How is it tough talk to expect anyone to carry their weight and earn their keep. Your mom only wants you to move out of her basement and get a real job because she loves you.

As far as my job being shipped overseas. Ain't gonna happen. And even if it did I would just get another one, I have skills, qualifications and education. I am not going to sit around and whine like some people. Nobody owes me a living. It's time you realized the same goes for you.

One question though-Is the Starbucks where you work one of the 600 they are closing?

Anonymous said...

Yep, I was right. A reagan democrat. The selfish, greedy mind of a republican but votes democrat to save his cushy union job.

Go ask the guys in Michigan how well that worked. They got new jobs too. For 1/3 the pay and no benefits.

No self-respecting democrat, no real democrat, begrudges the poor for the little they receive from their society.

The tired "barista living in mom's basement" talk is a dead giveaway that you're just a common conservative with the intellectual agility of a small soapdish.

@ California uber alles

I stand rightfully chastised. You didn't talk about illegals, and I didn't mean to imply that you did. I misread the tone of your original post, and upon reading your second post I realize that. You are not a smug bastard. We are closer together on these issues than I first believed. I respect your opinion, even though I might disagree with parts of it. You sir, are a gentleman.

@ Suffering sphincter:

Is that your only trick? Putting words in someone else's mouth so that your "point" seems to have more weight?

I'm not talking about punishing the poor. I'm talking about not punishing everybody else so that the poor can be coddled.

My mother is an immigrant who got her GED at 30 something. My father was a career serviceman and a career union man. They had ten kids. To people like you, that would qualify them to be given handouts to keep them poor and wanting more help from the government. Had they believed as you do, they would have never taught the value of hard work. Instead, they were brutal about education, they taught us that you can't count on anybody but yourself to take care of you, and they taught us a work ethic that you couldn't fathom. At 18, we were all told that we could stay as long as we worked and went to school, or we could leave and do whatever we wanted.

Since then, I have never had an "easy" day. I am educated, with no student debt. I paid for school out of my checking account. I work. I have great medical, but I won't miss a day of work unless I'm dying in the hospital. I rent because I can't afford to buy a house that I want to live in, in the neighborhood I want to live in, without putting myself in debt needlessly.

I see no reason why I should be forced to share the fruits of my labor with anybody that I don't choose to. I choose to spend money on my wife, myself, my family, and several charities, in that order.

When I see hospitals closing because people aren't paying their bills, or when I see a Costco department supervisor buying a house in Orange County, while truly sick people with the means to pay wait in longer lines and people with sufficient incomes doing without so that they can buy a home they will raise a family in someday, I think of income redistributionists like you, and it makes me sad that your brand of stupidity might possibly create another generation of deadbeats and losers like yourself.

It's no wonder the wealthiest state in the union is broke and can't even come up with a budget.

If any politician wants to talk about change you can believe in a free and independent California would be a good place to start.

No wonder you're an Union parasite. You don't realize that CA and NY are broke because of overspending by their ultraliberal politicians. For example, spending in NY alone increased by 70% in the last 10 years, blowing the budget. Now they want to increase taxes on businesses and workers to pay for their incompetence.

What, do you really think that CA and NY are supporting the rest of the country? The ultraliberal politicians, like Feinstein, are blowing all the money with welfare. Wait until the same ultraliberals put their Messiah in power and all the wasteful bills start flying for him to sign.

As far as I'm concerned, the Democratic Congress has voted with Bushco all along, even for the Iraq war. Sure, try to feel better by thinking that your bankrupt CA has been managing its money diligently.

You're nothing but another high school dropout union parasite who has to be kissing the Democratic party's a$$ for a living...oh, and pressing stupid buttons in a machine. You probably cried when your union hero Edwards got busted, right? Please do the planet a favor and don't breed.

Poor Happyrenter is deluded into thinking that his family didn't benefit from the contributory society. So, did you parents send you all to private school?

The "we pulled ourselves up by our bootstraps" people always seem to discount the effects of liberalism and government programs in telling their story. That's typical. People like that never admit to being the recipient of the "fruits" of someone else's labor.

Now go ahead. Make up a story of how you all went to private schools, never took advantage of a government program, your aged relatives never used SS or Medicare, you built your own roads, dug your own wells and are totally self-sufficient. That should complete the picture of the ungrateful, selfish, conservative lout/brainstem.

Yep, I was right. A reagan democrat. The selfish, greedy mind of a republican but votes democrat to save his cushy union job."

My job is by no means "cushy" and I "save my job" by working damn hard everyday. I am a lifelong member of the Democratic Party because at its core the Democratic Party best represents the interests of the working men and women of this contry both union and non-union.

"Go ask the guys in Michigan how well that worked. They got new jobs too. For 1/3 the pay and no benefits."

The US auto industry has been dying a slow death for the past 30 years. The "guys in Michigan" should have seen that coming and taken action, education or job training for example instead of just waiting for the layoff. If all they did was wait and now settle for a minimum wage no benefits job that is entirely on them. But hey at least now there are that many more poor people to make you feel like you have self-respect.

As far as being a "real Democrat," as Will Rogers said, "I am not a member of any organized political party. I am a Democrat." It is the big tent of the Democratic party that encompasses a diversity of opinions the best choice in our questionable two party system. This diversity makes it easy for the MSM to portray the Democratic Party as the gang that can't shoot straight but we live in a copmplex world and the easy answers repeated ad nauseum by the lockstep stooges of the Republican Party are not working. They never have worked and now the house of cards is collapsing. The last time that happened the country turned to a Democrat, FDR, to save the country. Now it is happening again, and again the country looks to the Democratic Party to fix things. Can Obama do it? I don't know but he's got my vote. Why? Because he's a Democrat and that's good enough for me.

"The tired "barista living in mom's basement" talk is a dead giveaway that you're just a common conservative with the intellectual agility of a small soapdish."

Your assessment of my intellectual agility is of no concern to me. I used a tired cliche to engage in an ad hominem attack because you are a tired cliche and you prove it every time you post.

And since you offered an insult rather than a denial we can all safely assume that yes you are a basement dwelling barista.

"So, did you parents send you all to private school?"

Yes they did. Same ones as Angelo Mozillo sent his kids. Angelo's boy Mark was in my brother's class. I did attend public colleges and universities, (Pasadena City College, CSULB and ASU). Public education is not a hand out it is an investment in the people and the future of this country.

And yes my parents are immigrants also and I will admit that there was a period of time in the late '60s when my dad was getting government checks. Actually my mom was getting the checks because my dad was on a government sponsored holiday in Vietnam.

Why is it that you are so committed to taking tax dollars and giving them to the poor for no reason other than that they are poor? What do you get out of it? Are you a welfare worker or recipient? Are you still dealing with Republican Daddy issues? Does your unshakable belief in welfare make you feel superior? Perhaps you should join the Franciscan Order. You'd like it, you get to wear a bathrobe all day, live in a nice neighborhood like La Canada, CA and give away other peoples' money.

Good save! You almost forgot the button pressing bit. You might have got kicked out of the He-Man Union Haters' Club if you dropped the ball on that one. Tell all your buddy's that us Union Boys now get seven figure salaries, will get black balled if we admit to anything more than an eight grade education and as far as button pushing goes we have apprentices to push the buttons, we just tell them which buttons to push unless we're on a coffee break.

You really are an imbecile. How's that High School Diploma and your Real Estate license is working out for you.

"You probably cried when your union hero Edwards got busted, right?" Laughed like hell in case you haven't noticed he's not running for office. Getting a little bit on the side won't stop him for getting appointed secretary of labor in the Obama administration. You people are just jealous that when a Democrat is involved in a sex scandal it involves a man and a woman but your crowd goes for the ANONYMOUS gay men's room sex or congressional pages of the teenage boy variety.

"KILL ALL THE UNIONS?"

My local's (IBEW Local 40) monthly meeting is next Wednesday 08/27/08 at 5:00 pm. Why don't you try starting there and see how far you get? The anti-unionists have been trying to kill the IBEW since 1891. They succeded in killing our founder Henry Miller (The lineman not the author) but we're still here and still strong over a hundred years later.

@Sagging Scrotum (suffering brainstems):

Most of my brothers went to public school, true. I actually did go to a private school, but that was because my parents could finally afford to send me to one. We used roads, true. We were even born in hospitals. I never said there should be no tax. I distinctly said that I don't begrudge paying my share for services to the public good. I just shouldn't have to pay your share too.

You claim to be intelligent, but then you belie yourself by comments that prove you are either a very young, misguided child, or a very helpless, pathetic almost-a-boomer who wants to make sure the Social Security teat doesn't dry up before you get to suckle.

Before you spew more vitriol about victim mentality, think of this. I know that I am able to stand tall and look myself in the mirror without feeling ashamed of giving some other guy a blow job for some beer money. I take pride in each of my accomplishments because I know I earned them based on my own skill and determination. I am a victim to no one. Since you have already broadcast your desire to have the government (guy with beer money) support you (guy on knees with, eyes closed) and those like you, can you say that you have no shame in the morning?

And in the interest of kicking a horse while he's down, your "advanced degrees" that you trumpet are either a figment of your imagination, or are from some "school" that gives you a degree based on the number of empty Mountain Dew cans and Funions bags you send in with your S.A.S.E and $3.95 postage. In either event, out of respect for yourself (if you even understand the concept), you would serve yourself well to stop bringing them up.

Wearing a Che Tshirt does not make you a socialist or a revolutionary. If you are a socialist do what Lenin, Stalin, Che, Mao and Fidel did and fight for what you believe in. Otherwise you are just another spoiled American brat whining about how unfair life is and claiming to be a socialist because you think it makes you seem deep and oh so intellectual. Really it makes you tiresome and rather boring. And down deep you are probably appallingly hypocritical. For instance what is this highly skilled profession you claim to work in and how does that fit with your socialist collectivist principles? I'm guessing it contradicts your so-called principles, that you will blame that on our horrible capitalist society and that you won't actually addmit to what you do for a living.

Seem to have struck a nerve. Or maybe a few of them. Maybe touched a brainstem or two.

Keep blaming the poor and the illegals. It's gotten you nowhere so far. Meanwhile, the rich have picked your pockets.

And really, brainstems, the barista living in the basement thing is kind of stale. Even if I was, you're only a tiny step up the financial food chain from that anyway. That's the beautiful result of a hyper-competitive culture created by the ideological cesspool we call conservatism. It encourages the $50 K people to resent the $20 K people, give them someone to feel superior to while the top 5% make off with more of the goodies.

"Seem to have struck a nerve. Or maybe a few of them. Maybe touched a brainstem or two."

Rather than patting yourself on the back for scathing unsights that you do not actually make in your posts why don't you try to refute the assertions in my posts point by point?

The answer to that question is obvious as your posts indicate that you have neither the semantic or rhetorical skills to engage in actual debate. You regurgitate your socialist talking points the same way Bill O'Reilly regurgitates his right wing talking points. And you both have the insight and awarenes of an infant regurgitating its strained carrots.

As far as hitting nerves, if you want to hit anything you better improve your shot or come up with better ammo. With the cliched socialist claptrap in your posts you could nod hit the proverbial broad side of a barn.

You are, however, closer than you have ever come to being right regarding my allegation that you work for Starbucks. My apologies to all the fine men and women who work for that company. It is a truly unforgivable for me to have insulted so greivously by alledging that someone like you would ever be hired by Starbucks.

You still have not said what this "highly skilled profession" you have is. Guess it does not matter. Anybody reading this blog acn feel superior to you and it has nothing to do with the size of you income and everything to do with the size of your mind. Don't go getting all mental I'm not saying you are stupid only ignorant. If you are even half as smart as you seem to think you are you will understand the distiction.

Anonymous said...

Poor Cali. He's mistaken his ignorance for intellect. A union democrat brainstem can fall into that trap. I'm still not sure what makes him a democrat, though. Maybe it's the fear that the republicans will destroy his cushy job with the state government or perhaps his position with a construction crew that has fat government contracts.

I already refuted your fixation on "welfare" and illegals as the source of your taxation. You probably didn't have the wherewithal to check how little of your taxes go to welfare. It's easier to spout resentment for the poor.

Does it make you feel superior to believe I live in a basement and work at a coffee house? Yet another of your fixations. Makes you look strange and oddly desperate. You couldn't understand my profession even if I told you what it was. Suffice to say that I have a graduate degree from an engineering school at a top Midwestern university. My work takes me all over to offer technical and policy consultation to cities dealing with environmental issues. Interestingly, none of them involve coffee.

Now, go back to seething about those poor people and those immigrants who are making your life difficult. And don't forget to vote democrat so you can continue to make those healthy union wages. It's important that we keep the proletariat contented.

I can understand you being too self absorbed and arrogant to actually read and comment on the content of my posts. You "know" you have all the answers so why pay attention to what anybody else has to say.

What I find to be the most telling evidence of your ignaorance and lack of understanding of anything is the fact that you do not even seem to have any awareness regarding the content of your own posts.

You think you have really "schooled" me by claiming that I only belong to the Democratic Party as a way of protecting a cushy government job or government contracts but then you go on to state that you work in such as an environmental consultant for local governments. (side note-If you are unable to explain something to another person it means you don't understand the subject well enough not that the other person is too stupid to comprehend it. This is a rough paraphrase of something Richard Feynman said.)

So let me get this straight--You vote democrat and you are in a field dependent on government contracts and the best insult that you can come up with is to alledge that someone is voting democrat and is dependent on government contracts for his livlihood. (For the record I have only ever worked in the private sector.)

The lack of selfawareness or even reading comprehension in this your latest post is proof that you are not only ignorant but also show an unhealthy degree of selfloathing that is typical of all so called socialists.

It would be funny except that it is too too sad. You need help buddy.

As it has become obvious from your posts that your rants are not just the results of a stunted intellect but may well be evidence of a psycological pathology this will be the lsat time I attempt to engage in a dialog with you.

Intellectual jousting with the igonorant can be a bit of fun but when the affliction is not ignorance but mental illness that is neither fun nor morally right.

Seriously, bitterrenter, get help. The first step to a cure is admitting you have a problem.

The last I'll hear from you? Good, then I get the last word. LOL

I have no moral quandary working with governments to right the wrongs of the capitalist polluters. I'm not the one crying about socialists giving my paycheck to the poor, lazy and illegal.

Worry about your own mental health. People who lay awake nights filled with irrational worry that someone somewhere is getting a free ride on their dime have no high ground from which to conduct nickel psychology.
