I am sure there will be zingers galore. But why is the moderator black. Whew. 15% of the population and they are everywhere on American TV. Everywhere. Anyone who supports Obama needs to live in Philadelphia or Chicago for a month to see America's future under him. Actually, I would like Pahlin and Putin to go hunting to see who is a better shot. Seriously, a resurgent Russia sending Tu160 supersonic, strategic, nuclear city destroying bombers to Latin America needs to be discussed. Next is the ship Peter the Great. Monroe Doctrine violation?! This debate should be better than Obama/McCain, where Obama tried to sound hawkish, even though he is left of Jimmy Carter. Biden was a terrible choice. Hillary vs Pahlin would have been more interesting.

What's even scarier is to think that McCain chose this person as his VP running mate, and that he is only barely trailing Obama in the poles.
Now, I don't have a preference for either of these two candidates, but McCain has clearly lost his mind - and Palin never had a mind to begin with.
Those who back McCain have other reasons why they would prefer him over Obama - it's certaintly not intelligence.

I've sworn off television (except mlb playoffs) so I'm not watching this. Still, having a blast reading your commentary. And I can tell what's happening.
To be honest, I didn't want to watch because I thought Palin would be embarrassingly, excruciatingly bad. From all your comments I guess I was wrong.
Still, VP debates don't really matter and I still say Obama wins even when Biden loses this debate.
And I still say the election itself matters about as much as the mlb playoffs when neither major candidate has the tools or the guts to address our problems appropriately.

It seems that there are reasons that Governors attain to the White House than Senators do, perhaps because the Chief Executive of a state is more analogous to the Presisdent of the United States than a member of the U.S. Senate is.
A governor must act not only as chief executive and policymaker, but a representative of the state and its people: he or she acts as a head of state, a figurehead.
McCain's campaign may have considered Palin's office as governor as a hedge against some sort of preceived "senatorial curse". Watching this debate, I can't help but think of how so many senators seem to have fallen into the same pitfalls troubling Senator Biden. I hope Senator Biden can connect and touch the audience before the night is over.
