Back in 2006 the desperate builders were giving away FREE PIZZA with a home purchase. Now they're giving away FREE HOMES. Gotta love it!

Here's a
classic HP post from November 2006 (thanks paul e.) many of you may remember, where the f'd builder was offering FREE PIZZA if you made the biggest financial mistake of your life.

Compare that to the post yesterday offering the "BUY ONE HOUSE GET ONE FREE" deal.

Man, think of the sucker who bought a home because of a free pizza party... Think of the suckers who bought with ANY of the incentives these past few years. Hope they enjoyed the "FREE" granite countertops, or the "FREE" Hawaii vacation. And what do you want to bet they've now found out that nothing in life is free...

The Mexican...

Yeah that would suck to accept the free pizza offer and to find out later that one of your neighbors got a free house.

Absolutely classic. You could fill a whole book with desperate and laughable incentives offered in vain. We've seen cars, boats, pizza, houses. Not to mention the illicit incentives offered by the former and soon-to-be-again strippers-turned-realtors.

I can't wait to see what these jokers come up with next.

Psssst,

Check this out, what a deal!

I can get my very own Pizza pie, for FREE.. yup for Free,
all I have to do is buy a house.

Hey how bout we do a ‘Thursday Pizza day’.

We buy a house every Thursday and enjoy a free pizza maybe they’ll even throw in some extra toppings.
Life is good..

On the political side of things:
I’m truly surprised Mr. empty suite Obamah made it this far, potential new lows for this country, evolution is a sloooooow process.

Somebody go post a Craiglist ad in Phoenix offering to buy someone's house priced between 250k and 500k based on the stipulation that they get to shag the wife on their first night in the house after closing. Request pictures of the listing and the wife to an email address, then post the stuff here.

We'll do a housing bubble remake of the Demi Moore movie.

It's not just a home. It's a Par-dee home - Pizza Par-dee, that is.

I was trying to sell my home from April to October of 06. I had the first sale fall through in June. Place went back in the market but in July everything was dead. The agent assured me that the "fall" selling season it would go. I could just tell that everything was coming to a rapid grinding halt. I had an agent in the market where I was going ping every builder to see if they had a program to trade a home and if they would consider such an arrangement. Every single builder said "NO & NO" but they were willing to have me contract to purchase a new home from them. I said you cannot have your cake & eat it too, you want me as a customer then take this home off my hands. My place went under contract in October & we settled the first week of November. The place sold despite the incompetence of my realtor. I had to have him cut the price 10k a week starting in late September. All the other places on sale in my neighborhood were in the low 400k mark, mine went for 350k. Almost two years later, almost every single one that was up for sale then are up for sale now, but they are now in the 390k range. A week does not go by that I now here builders advertising they'd trade a home. I was willing to take an overpriced $h!tb0x from them if they would just take mine off my hands. They wanted me to run the risk of finacial ruin by holding two homes!! I now rent & will buy when they are desparate and just dumping properties!! SO I thank them for being so greedy!!!

Realtor: If you buy that $550K house over there, I'll throw in a free pepperoni pizza.

Person: Really?

Realtor: Yeah! Can you believe it?

Person: No! Wow! Thanks! Can I dry hump my girlfriend? I'm really excited!

Realtor: Sure! Go for it! You earned the right! Plus, it's a free country! Be sure to say hi to Mozillo for me if you see him!

Person: OK! Thanks!

Ah, nice to see the pizza post referenced again. I still crack up over some of those comments.

So I can offer an update on that neighborhood. The promotion was for a community in Beaumont, CA. There were a number of builders that were building around a golf course. The homes were your typical 3000 sq foot house on a 6000 sq foot lot. You know the type, same thing, same thing all over the streets. I recently checked out one house. It would have originally sold at approximately $660,000. It just sold in April for $315,000. Still too much in my opinion as there is a fat special assessment tax and a very soft rental market. Once it cuts in half again, it might be interesting.
