Ron Paul on the housing bubble, bogus CPI data and stupid Fed policy

When it comes to the housing bubble, the Fed and even bogus government CPI data, Ron Paul gets it. Hands down. The dude just gets it.

Everyone else running by comparison is an imbecile.

And yet that's what America wants. Vote Imbecile 2008!

It's almost sad that he clearly understands the problems, but can't put it together in a more organized and rhetorically pleasing way.

He needs some of that trial lawyer focus.

President Bush was on the air saying that "banks must take their marks, and must stop the off-balance sheet games."

Thank you for listening.

Will HP give any kudos or is it Ron Paul 24 hours a day...

He is not saying what most americans want to hear.He is telling the truth but people don't care as long as the easy money keeps flowing in.People will not elect him because he is too honest and knows what the hell the problem is.

Ron Paul makes too much sense, and so is totally not going to be the president! Imagine if he won though? I would love to see Bernanke's face when Paul tells him "Your FIRED!" One can dream.

Billionaire investor Jim Rogers interviewed on the clowns running the Fed:

Investment guru Jim Rogers says the U.S. economy is either in recession or on the brink of it, and that America’s political leaders already know it.
"The American economy is already in recession or very close to it, and the administration knows this but is lying to the public," investment guru Jim Rogers said this week.

He told the Israeli business newswire The Globes that it might take six months for the recession to unavoidably apparent. He added that Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke is unlikely to do much about it – except perhaps make inflation worse.

"He's an academic with no experience in capital markets. All he has learned is to print money,” Roger said.

"Many have tried this here and elsewhere in the world, including in Israel, and he will discover what others have learned before him: It causes inflation,” Rogers said.

Rogers has little positive to say about "Helicopter Ben,” referring to a Bernanke speech made before he was named Fed chief, in which Bernanke cited Milton Friedman’s theory that the Fed could offset deflation by tossing cash out of helicopters if need be.

Bernanke would be better off letting the free market work than stepping in deeper, Rogers said.

If he was in charge, Rogers added, the central bank would be the first to go.

"We were once a country that loaned money. Today we're drowning in debt, and the U.S. owes another $1 trillion every 15 months,” Rogers said.

"Our enemies think about how to exploit this situation to harm us,” Roger said.

Rogers pulled no punches on Bernanke’s predecessor, Alan Greenspan, either.

"Greenspan told Congress that he saw no bubble when even my mother could see it. It sometimes seemed to me that Greenspan was saying in interviews things that he heard on CNBC, which was quoting him,” Roger said.

The Fed finally acted Tuesday, almost six months after the sub-prime market completely melted down, a development that may end up sparking a recession.

"Philosophically, I have a bias toward free markets and less regulation,” Paul Kasriel, chief economist of Northern Trust bank, tells MoneyNews.com.

"But it was pretty obvious to anyone who wanted to look that ill-advised loans were being written. To the degree that the Fed is going to have to come to the rescue later, the Fed should have acted years earlier,” Kasriel said

While much of the fault lies with Greenspan, experts say Ben Bernanke, who took over from Greenspan as chairman in February 2006 and was a Fed governor from 2002-05, can’t escape blame.

As recently as this spring in Bernanke’s testimony before Congress, it was clear that "the senators knew more about subprime mortgages than him,” says Roger Kubarych, a Wall Street veteran who is now chief U.S. economist for Unicredit HVB, Europe’s second-largest bank.

He's a doctor, not a sleazy smooth-talking lawyer or salesman. That's what's wrong with America. Instead of going for substance, the sheeple go for flash.

Wow....I think he just lost my vote. He does indeed know the problem, but for crying out loud he needs to be able to articulate a whole lot better than that. Yikes.

Right, we need another "lawyer" in Washington like we need another Greenscam at the fed. If you can't understand what Ron Paul is saying you're not paying attention.

Does anyone out there still believe there is any legitimacy to presidential elections in this country? The past two presidential elections were rigged. There will never be a candidate that wins by a landslide. Ron Paul makes way too much sense to ever get a shot at the presidency. This whole game is fixed and the losers are the "pesky" middle class.

Rather than sabotaging Ron Paul, the Establishment should be thanking their lucky stars that there is someone available to save them from themselves.

As a democrat for Ron Paul,He need to figure out a way to tell the sheeple the truth with out telling them the truth,,,,

No, the real problem here is that the reality of this global situation is so ugly and will hurt so much in the future that people are in denial. People will not elect Ron Paul because, like aways, they would rather shoot the messenger than deal with "bad news."

God, this is killing me!!

Even on this board, people talk about this crisis as the "Subprime Meltdown"...ARRRRRRAHHHH!! It is a systemic MORTGAGE crisis unfolding people, NOT A SUBPRIME problem...that was only the tip of the iceberg. Wait till you see what happens in 08 with Alt-A, Commercial RE and Credit Cards!

Also, HOW HOW HOW can it be that any 4th grader with access to the internet, and financial news could have known a year ago that we were headed face down into the woodchipper, but Bernanke and company was still saying "No worries...this "Subprime" thing is contained"?!?!?!?!?

How can our "leaders" have the fuc@#ing intelligence of a goldfish?!! We are truly in BIIIIG trouble. This will be unprecedented in US History.

Ron Paul won't win. There are too many socialist crackpots out there who oppose personal freedoms. Socialism is about control of the population through force and the economy. It cannot co-exist with freedom. The sheeple want to be controlled by the social engineers. They want their "free" healthcare. They want their "free" houses. They think the government is out to protect them and look out for their best interests. We all saw what happened in the USSR, Cuba, China, North Korea - yet it will be different this time. In the EU, the legendary Italian writer Orianna Fallaci was prosecuted for writing a book that dared to criticize radical Islamists. In the UK there are cameras being put up on every street. Citizens are jailed for defending themselves against muggers. An Englishman was sentenced to life in prison for shooting a criminal who broke into his house. Big Brother socialism is George Orwell's 1984. The history of the world has never been one of freedom. People have always wanted to be enslaved by the government. The Germans elected Hitler. The Palestiniams elected Hamas. The people of Europe chose to be enslaved by the faceless EU bureaucracy that dictates everything from condom sizes to the allowable length of a sheep's wool. Too bad we didn't heed the Founding Fathers' advice to steer clear of the world's problems. It started with the Spanish American War and WWI and led to Vietnam and Iraq.

Oh, doctors aren't sleazy smoothing talking or salesmen? Are they supposed to be more ethical? Interesting.

Does that mean I'll have to stop reading the biography of Doctor Mengele and stop watching those sleezes on Doctor 90210?

Get Real and get life. Doctors are just as corrupt and sleazy as any crooks in our society. You're just a sucker for the white coat facade.

Agreed on both of the above. There is one simple change that could restore the integrity of the vote, but the people pulling the strings will make sure that never happens: a registry. If it was simply mandated that the votes of every single citizen are printed out for public viewing, there could not be fraud. Of course, they'll try to tell you it's private "for your protection". But it's also for their protection. I will easily give up that right to guarantee a valid election.

Ron Pauls backwards view on American international affairs, outways all the good things he has to say; by far.

What is the distinction between RP and Kucinich?

He’ll just speed up the process to bring us and the world back to the dark ages.
Weren’t metal coins the currency during the 1000 years that evolution stood still?

Lawyers are sleazy. I'll trust a doctor over a lawyer anytime. You can find one bad doctor and that is supposed to tarnish the reputation of all doctors? You're a moron. Most people hate lawyers. Only idiots like you hate doctors. The world would be a better place if half of the lawyers dropped dead lawyers. The same can't be said about doctors. Your attempt to smear Ron Paul by linking him to Mengele failed miserably, just like Dumbya

Not getting into wars will bring the world back to the dark ages?

Metal coins are still in use today, idiot.

Why is it that everyone who hates Ron Paul seems to be retarded?

I watched this on CSPAN this morning. I also recorded it for my in-laws to watch. My in-laws are democrats, of the old school, ie Kennedy democrats and despise Hitlery as much as Bush. I have almost convinced them to support him.

Ron Paul is 100% correct on domestic issues. But 100% wrong on Foreign Affairs. He said that there has NEVER been a justified response to an attack on America.

In his view Pear Harbor wasn't even justified. Sorry HP, that man is just not fit to be president.

I agree starting wars is not a good idea. But he takes pacifism to a whole new level. Like it or not there are people and countries out there who want to cause us harm. You can pretend they don't exist, it won't make them any less dangerous.

Luckily most people realize this fact and the Pauls and Kucinichs of the world are few and far between.

Too bad, since his ant-tax, small government message is being lost in his pacifist drivel.

Here's a story that well illustrates the typical libertarian position:

Paul defends asking for special projects

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul on Sunday defended his efforts in Congress to bring home money to his Texas district, despite his long-held aversion to big government and congressional votes to reign in federal spending.

The 10-term congressman and longshot candidate for the Republican presidential nomination added that although he has requested special projects known as earmarks, he ultimately ends up voting against them in the House. Paul is known in Congress as "Dr. No" for his votes against some types of government spending, including a medal for Pope John Paul II and civil rights leader Rosa Parks because of the cost to taxpayers.

For his home state, however, Paul has sought money for water projects, a nursing program, to expand a hospital cancer center and to promote Texas shrimp.

So much for that "every man for himself" basis for libertarian savagery. And don't try and rationalize it like he did with some bogus claim of getting back what you put in.

Hear that Jim, ya selfish libertarian slug with the long-winded posts?

Dear anon:
Wow, you articulate your argument just as good as RP himself.
You make me want to change my mind and support him.. NOT!

Why are Ron Paul supporters so full of hate and anger all the time?

Also, does he have any solutions? Or does he just do a good job of pointing out what’s broken?….any Demnut can do that.

Hey idiot neocon, do you think you're fooling anyone? Cleveland (Kucinich) and Lake Jackson (Paul) have the highest concentration of Muslims? It will be either RonPaul or a Democrat in office by January 2009. You neocon jackals are finished. Get used to it.

Of course it wasn't justified. That's why we went to war. Unlike the stupid neocons who make up stories to bomb and maim innocent people, Ron Paul doesn't want to send young Americans to be slaughtered to enrich the corporations.

Socialist bitteridiot troll, people have had enough of Fidel crap. Only you and a few idiotic Hollyweird nutjobs want socialism. Take your crap to Cuba where they appreciate it. You'll fit right in with the lying, selfish, murderous socialist thugs.

Look at the scared neocon trolls spreading lies about RP. I used to donate to the Republican Party. I now give to Ron Paul. If he doesn't make it, I will donate to the Democrats. The Republican Party needs to be crushed until it can purge the murderous neocon chickenhawks that hijacked it. The neocon influence is bad for America all-around. They have busted our budget. They opened our borders to tens of millions of illegals. They started and mismanaged a pointless war. Guiliani, Romney and that kook Huckabee are in the same mold as the Bush Crime Family. The Democratic Party is also evil, but less so than the neocons, who will drag us into a war with Iran and slaughter many more thousands of Americans and bankrupt our nation. Anyone who votes for a Republican other than Ron Paul should be sent to Iraq for the next five years since they are so hellbent on occupation of a hostile Muslim nation.

How's this for a selfish Libertarian?

Assuming the practice of a retiring doctor in Lake Jackson, Texas, in a single day, Paul became the only ob/gyn doctor in Brazoria County,[11] reportedly delivering 40–50 babies a month and frequently busy with surgery.[30] His practice refused Medicare and Medicaid payments; he worked pro bono, arranged discounted or custom-payment plans for needy patients,[18] or otherwise "just took care of them."[31]

He's so selfish.

Sorry, but when Ron says the govwernment forced the banks to make these sub-prime loans, that is just crap. CRA may have pushed a very few of these - but it didn;t create the teaser rates and option ARMs - good old private industry did that. If anything, the government did too little in regulating this mess. They sure didn't do too much in creating it.
