Ron Paul on the US $60 Trillion debt, inflation, the dollar bubble and housing bubble

Down the road, when it all falls apart, people might remember that one guy ran for president and wanted to help.

And the majority of Americans didn't want to hear what he had to say.

More tax cuts? Sigh, he is just as crazy as bush.

Great video.

If Bush had 1/1000th of Mr. Pauls' intelligence, we'd be 1000-times better off then we are now.

Get rid of the IRS and income taxes I say and go with consumption tax instead

Why should people with regular jobs pay taxes when illegals, under-the-table jobs and rich people with great accountants get off paying nothing?

And say goodbye to the IRS, to H&R Block, to all tax preparers, and to tax accountants. More worthless and inefficient jobs that need to be disintermediated.

Our system is broken. Fix it.

Its amazing how brainwashed the loyal democrap followers are.

Rich people don't pay taxes, well, they pay a much lower percentage then those who are trying to accumulate wealth. The rich of our country have set up a system that prevents the accumulation of wealth. Think about it, someone making a 100k a year gets taxed like crazy. But, those who have 100 mil in stocks on pay capital gains tax, which is super low.

9 of the top 10 richest people in government are democrat. Any US citizen who is against tax cuts is just a moron.

I found it funny just watching the fox news reporter : he really did not want to hear it.

Its going to be like Katrina. The dollar is going to crash. All the zombies are going to turn to government and say "help help". But the dollar will have lost so much value they'll be no help. They'll sit there blind and domesticated. Maybe if they are lucky they'll be a soup line.

To metroplexual,

You're a classic case of being part of the problem, not part of the solution. Go away. You and your like-minded ilk have brought us to the edge of financial ruin. Any other candidate but Dr. Paul will provide the final push over the edge into an abyss with no bottom.

I just clicked a link on Yahoo's home page that took me to an ABC video that was from Good Morning America. The video showed people who were spending up to $50,000 to throw a birthday bash for their 1-year-old son or daughter, even though their child won't even remember it. After seeing that video, yes, I'm all for having a consumption tax.

And we wonder why radical Muslims want to destroy us.

Exactly how would a consumption tax work when purchasing items over the net, and abroad? Especially given the fact that in america, we don't manufacture anything anymore, except plains; we outsource everything. People would be purchasing everything over the net to circumvent the 'consumption tax'.

Case in point, if I buy a car made and sold in India, from tata motors, and have it shipped here in the US, to whom collects those taxes?

Having said that, I still think another 4 years of neo-con republi-scheittstained policy will put america over the cliff, and drive a stake through her heart most certainly. What people do not realize is their actions can and will carry consequences for us all one day... Then what will rambo do, once he is broke? LOL, pehaps this is just what is needed, but their will be plenty of pain going through it all, as a broke nation is a defenceless nation, and man we got enemies.

Dude, (I assume because you are such a pussy to not have a handle)

You don't even know my politics. But it sounds like you are one of the mindless 28% who still like chimpy.

BTW, to say I am part of the problem is just stupid. Look, my comment about more tax cuts is that we can't afford them, a tax cut in this point in our history is a deferred tax hike.

And Keith a consumption tax is even worse as a regressive tax. I met Forbes when he was pushing that idea in 1999. Why would a rich guy want it, Forbes is not wanting his taxes hiked.

I will be seeing this Ron Paul on the Colbert Report on the 13th. I will tell you all my impression of him afterward. But for now I am for Bill Richardson.

fox news , we report , you decide..........the conservatives can't even talk with a conservative.......so who is a conservative? who is really? fox news is not conservative and never was. it is a zionist jew network designed to pretend to be conservative and have conservative values but in reality, it does not like real conservatism. rupert murdock is a zionist jew whose only goal is to confuse the masses, create discussions and debate, and this acts like some kind of pressure relief valve to keep the goyim talking instead of taking to the streets and seizing what is already ours anyway. the time for talking is over. the spirit of washington, jefferson, adams, paine, and henry is still alive and well. now then i am going to come out of voting retirement and vote for this man, .......this one time......and if they screw him out of this nomination or this election or if they kill him or if he has a 'accident' of some sort......well that will tell me that it is time to hit the bush....i am sick of them. i am sick of these bureaucrats who do what they want and do not care what we think. i am sick of them. i am sick of people going to government and forgetting what they are supposed to do while there......i am sick of them....

Forget about tax cuts. You would have to DOUBLE the income tax NOW in order to start balancing the budget. Another solution, value added tax (VAT) of 50 percent! The situation is that serious. Third solution is to start printing money ...

The result of large budget deficits of 25 years cannot be solved in a year or two, it takes decades.

Americans have been partying heavily with the money from future generations. Tax cuts really have been tax deferrals.

consumption tax as a sales tax on all non-food items

plus a value added tax throughout the supply chain

and you'll never have to pay another cent to the IRS on any of your income. and no more social security tax withholding, no more medicare tax, no more medicaid tax, no more state income taxes. no more income tax period.

and there will be no more deductions, no more tax forms, no more accountants, no more IRS agents, and no more people cheating on taxes

how many people do you know that earn income and don't report it? I know tons - anyone in the service and hospitality business for starters. and think of all the income made these past few years by people building and selling houses that didn't report a dime

a VAT and sales tax is the way to make sure everyone pays taxes. everyone.

the current system is broken. throw it out and start over

it will happen one day, for sure. the only question is when.

yeh keith but the consumption tax or national sales tax is a big lie......what we have here is the taxation goes from being 'voluntary' to mandantory.....

we don't need any damn tax like this. that will give them a door to open and once you do that, it will be very hard to close it...

there is no other answer now than bloody rebellion...i am sorry. we have waited too long. the system is now entrenched beyond repair......people are going to have to make their minds which side they are on, and get to it....

it is the only way now...

present taxes are not used to run government functions. they are used to service the debt. this is a scam perpetrated on the american people by the fed and its member banks.

the government is structured like a big corportation with seperate sub corporations. each corporate body is responsible for paying for its functions. therefore , they have various ways of achieving their budgets.

the income tax is not used to pay for government. it is used to service the debt which is funds which the government has borrowed to pay for programs, wars, etc....money is printed up as needed....

buy gold and lots of it........and bury it so they can't find it or steal it...

How about the ghetto blacks "earned income credits"? If the 'earned' some income they wouldn't need a 'credit'!

At this point it really doesn't matter what form the taxes take. At our current level of debt, and assuming no spending increases, taxes per person would have to equal roughly $31,000 per year for the next 75 years to pay down our debt. Also assuming no inflation.

On the other hand, we could cut all our entitlement programs and immediately remove over $50 trillion dollars of debt tomorrow since the vast majority of our debt reflects future liabilities in Medicare, Medicaid, the Prescription drug package and Social Security. Not likely.

It's a simple but painful choice. We've lived way beyond our means for the last several generations. I'm not wealthy and I understand the desire to provide government services to the needy. But if we can't fund our government services through direct taxes then we can't afford them. If we can't fund our foreign policy through direct taxes then we can't afford it. If we had not been able to run up our debt to its current level we would have found that we are not nearly as wealthy a nation as we think we are.

Forbes was pushing a flat tax not a consuption tax in 1999. Dude if you're going to lie, at least get your facts straight about the lie.

Forbes is "not wanting his taxes hiked"? Geezuz what kind of grammar is that? No wonder you hate "the rich", you sound like you barely gradumalated jr. high.

funny how you liberals complain about taxes and spending being too high yet support liberals who want to raise taxes and spending. No wonder this coutry is so fucked up.

why should we be taxed on our time. that is what is happening. we spend time in an office and are compensated for that time. time we will never get back. we do this so we can trade "money" for food or other needs.

this is not income, since we lose time in the trade, in essence it is a "wash".
