HousingPANIC Stupid Question of the Day

If the NAR and REALTORS on COMMISSION didn't have monopoly control over the MLS, and America's bribed congressmen in their pocket, would they stand any chance of stealing 6%?

Bonus Question - will the MLS still be the dominant monopoly property listing service in five years?

HousingPANIC calls for the firing of the NAR's "chief economist" Lawrence Yun

But hey, I'm not holding my breath.

Everyone by now knows that Lawrence Yun, and before him David Lereah, are completely and totally discredited by now. The MSM should never print one quote from this paid liar without first stating "Lawrence Yun, who is paid to lie by the NAR, ..."

Well, even Lawrence Yun is having to deal with the reality that housing is in the early days of a historic and epic crash. And even though just a few days ago he put out a report that 2008 would be rosy, today the NAR did an about-face and admitted that 2008 is gonna suck.

Although their definition of "suck" is still nowhere near reality. You have economists predicting a 25% decline in prices and the NAR is saying 1.2%.

Yeah, good luck with that.

realtors and the NAR are now beyond hope. The realtor profession is dead, it is discredited, it is disrespected and it is destroyed. And the NAR represents the very worst of the profession - corrupt, lying and anti-American.

F*ck the NAR. F*ck Lawrence Yun. And f*ck the realtors. The jig is up.

Home prices set to slide in '08 - National Association of Realtors pulls back on outlook and forecasts second consecutive annual decline in prices and sales

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- In a fresh sign that the nation's housing crisis will worsen, home prices are likely to decline in 2008 for the second straight year, the National Association of Realtors said Thursday.

"We're seeing a pattern that is consistent with skimming along the bottom of the cycle, and sales could ease modestly," said Lawrence Yun, the group's chief economist, in a statement.

PIGS FLY ALERT! A realtor with a conscience asks "Should we be telling folks 'now is a great time to buy' when in fact values are still declining?"

Never thought I'd see the day. I thought I'd only see '21 reasons' and 'bubbles are for bathtubs' forever from these no-morals six percenters.

It's the guilt HP'ers. It must be eating at the little ramen eaters.

The non-stop lies. The never-ending distortion. The spin. The con job. The talking points. And the fact that they knowingly hurt people for their own self-enrichment.

It's gotta be eating at their very souls. Those of 'em that still have one.

Now is a great time to buy Real Estate! Or is it?

Yesterday I received an email from my local REALTOR® Association (OSCAR). In it was a plea request, from our new Association President, asking all REALTORS® to place a one liner in all our ads stating "Now is a great time to buy real estate!"

Now folks, I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. I certainly don't agree that things are as bad as the media portrays but I'm having a hard time getting my head around "Now is a great time to buy real estate!"

Is this request, from our Association, an attempt to manipulate the market? Is it less than truthful? Should we be telling folks "Now is a great time to buy real estate" when in fact, values are still declining? What if I told someone this and they bought based on, "Now is a great time to buy real estate" only to find out three years later, when they need to sell, that their property's value has declined?

Am I over thinking this? Should I just jump on the bandwagon and start running optimistic ads just so I can "put more money in my pocket"?

Why do I feel uncomfortable about this? What am I missing? Please help me out here.

FLASH: The Corrupt David Lereah (TCDL) finally admits he f*cked up, housing bubble did exist, crash now underway

That's it folks. Put a fork in it. The housing bubble is dead, and even TCDL (sure miss the little guy eh?) now admits he was spewing lies.

HP note to TCDL: Your lies and spin ruined lives. You are a shameful, corrupt little man who knowingly enriched himself at the expense of America. History will not be kind to you or to your replacement stooge Lawrence Yun.

Perhaps the most prominent housing booster was David Lereah, the chief economist at the National Association of Realtors until April. In 2005, he published a book titled, “Are You Missing the Real Estate Boom?” In 2006, it was updated and rereleased as “Why the Real Estate Boom Will Not Bust.” This year, Mr. Lereah published a new book, “All Real Estate Is Local.”

In an interview, Mr. Lereah, now an executive at Move Inc., which operates a real estate Web site, acknowledged he had gotten it wrong, saying he did not fully realize how loose lending standards had become and how quickly they would tighten up again this summer. But he argued that many of his critics have also been proved wrong, because they were bearish as early as 2002.

“The bears were bears way too early, and the bulls were bulls too late,” he said. “You need to know when you are straying from fundamentals. It’s hard, when you are in the middle of the storm, to know.”

A HousingPANIC plea to the mainstream media of America

Wake the f*ck up and do your job.

Stop reporting NAR and US government flawed housing data and spin as fact. At least report the margin of error and the errors with the reports, and do your own analysis of the data. it's not hard, trust me. When we can predict your article and headline before you even write it, you know there's a problem.

Do not report their press release spin headlines as your headlines. Think before you write. And throw away your rolodex of realtors - their lies and BS are what got us into this mess.

Also, stop using The Corrupt David Lereah for quotes. At least refer to him as "the discredited mouthpiece of the National Association of Realtors" when you do lazily copy and paste quotes from him. And when you quote him blaming things like the bad weather for the housing crash, pull up weather.com and report on how the damn weather indeed was (trust us, it wasn't bad). Or report on what truly is causing housing to crash. Any fool knows it ain't the weather.

Bottom line, you have deservedly lost the trust of the American people. Your profession is withering away, along with your antiquated REIC supported business model.

Any of you involved in "rip and read" copy and paste jobs of NAR or Bush Administration press releases as news should be embarrassed to call yourselves reporters. And if you are being pressured to do such shoddy "reporting" by your REIC-influenced corporate masters, you should loudly resign, and seek new employment (or better yet, start a blog).

Enough is enough lazy reporters of America. We need Bernstein. We need Woodward. We need Cronkite. We need Murrow. You are failing us, your are failing yourselves, and you are allowing corrupt institutions and individuals to destroy what used to be a proud and fine profession.

Enough is enough. We're fed up and we're not going to take it anymore. And neither should you.
