Last night I walked past the Arizona School of Real Estate and Business in Scottsdale.
Why did I have the spooky feeling of a priest walking past a possessed home? Why did I get the sense that evil, greed and debauchery had infested the building?
Seriously, I was just waiting to be attacked by angry flesh eating zombies spewing out of the office.
"Be gone, demons from hell! I cast you out!"
Maybe I was just over-reacting.
I do wonder how enrollment is these days at Realtor School. If you really want to see the last sucker in, or the Greatest Fool, stop by one day. It would be fascinating to talk to anyone stupid enough to be enrolled there today.
But if you go, bring garlic.

Our anger at REALTORs is nothing compared to what's coming to them from all of the FBs who are bankrupt in 2007.

It is wrong to blame the Realtors for all of this mess. YEs, the Realtors pumped the bubble, but they did not CAUSE IT. The cursed traitors at the Federal Reserve Bank are the ones responsible for this mess and should be punished for what they have done to this country.

My wife used to manager a Real Estate School.
Actually, enrollment at most of the Realtor schools is only down slightly.
Keep in mind, the RE companies hold monthly recruiting seminars where they fill the heads of all the workers with mundane jobs and the bored housewives with stories of the glitz and money to be made in RE sales. "Now is the best time to get in" they are now spouting, "All the Realtors that didn't want to strive to make Million Dollar Club are leaving and there will be a shortage of agents in the coming year".
It never ceases to amaze me all the poeple with good steady jobs that will jump into RE full time without testing the water first. But then, you think they were good at selling overpriced POS houses-- you ought to check out their recruiter speals. BTW, Real Estate company recruiters are usually former high producing Realtors who are paid substantially. Really, most RE companies could care less if you make it or not in the business. The "Model" is-- get as many warm bodies licensed with your company, get as much of their their friends and family business as you can, then if they quit get some more.
I'm wondering if the people praising this 'post' have ever met any of the people at the ASREB?
Went through their classes a few months ago, and it was a first rate organization run by great people.
Went in for the RE Education, and now deciding whether to take the test & get the license... just to have access to the MLS. (see another post for freedom of info discussion)
Thems da' rules, and until they change, we don't have a lotta choice.
I don't plan to ever show or list a house I don't own, and I don't plan to buy houses until they cash flow, or until people are using the term "real estate" as profanity.
In other words... until they go on SALE!!!
If I have to become a "realtor" to pick up the coming bargains, then I'll hold my nose and pay the dues.
Hopefully they'll open up or replace the MLS as the price of properties falls, and I won't need to soil myself to play in the game.
As I told a guy yesterday... I wasn't here for the (appreciation) party... I'm just here to mop up the mess.
I think most REALTORS are just low level salespeople who'd say anything to get a transaction to happen and get paid.
The point of this note:
Don't ignorantly slam the ASREB.
They are good people, running a first class operation.
