Uh-oh: Paranoid Ben's thehousingbubble blog still down

I SWEAR I had nothing to do with it!

But the REIC, well, you never know...

Thanks HP'ers for the tip - anyone know how long it's been down?

Hi, this is Ben from thehousingbubble. I've been trapped in an alternate dimension by the evil REIC. Coordinates 1234 XOC 12 GHT. Send beer and help.

C'mon, Keith. Give Ben a break.

Can't you show a little love for a fellow traveler?

Admittedly, Ben isn't the most exciting personality to ever grace the planet but he HAS been (and let's hope he continues to be) a VERY consistent housing bubble bust blogger.

Perhaps you can demonstrate some altrusim and offer to Ben the opportunity to post his stories here until he can get his blog up and running again!!!

i'd give ben a break if he was cool. he's not - he's paranoid

he had his chance to work together to fight the forces of evil, and he chose to go it alone

whatever happened to Overpriced Housing? I think it was overpriced.blogspot.com. It was a very funny site with specific properties and hilarious commentary, then it became some hacked-looking commercial real estate page.
Anybody know an update?

blogger said...

just another (of many) 9/11 threadjack attempts by richard. Let me handle this one.

richard - I gave it 7 minutes. seeing that massive plane loaded with jet fuel hit a building at hundreds of miles an hour, then explode in a massive fireball, is all I need to see.

tell you what, give me your address, buy me a 747, and let me slam it into your house. I've got $1 that the house falls down and goes boom.

and why do 9/11 theory guys all look alike? kind of like mass murderers. white guy, 45, losing hair, dateless.

blogger said...

no more 9/11 - go back to the topic at hand hp'ers. ignore richard

I just had to feed the troll, but hopefully he's got a full belly now...

Anonymous said...

Is that you in the picture Keith? He looks like that guy that got beaten by Sulieman.

Garth Farkley said...

Keith,

Is "Richard" really a troll?

Is he really just another crazed conspiracy theorist? Or is it more likely that he's a paid operative of an enemy foreign intelligence service who's been hired to spread consfusing, dispiriting BS about our government and allies? Or perhaps he's a paid operative on the payroll of one of the white supremacist organizations he cites? Or maybe both?

I'm not making accusations, mind you. I'm just "asking questions," as they say.... Hey! Maybe I'm getting the hand of conspiracy theorism myself!

I watched the loose change 'kids' debate the popular mechanics editors and had one thing really bother me about the whole conspiracy of 9/11.

Ok, for arguments sake let's say the gov't actually pulled off 9/11. They would have had to:

1. Hijack or make 4 jets disappear along with people who were supposed to be on these planes.

2. Suppress all dissent from airlines and all employees who would lose money and jobs, suppress all workers within the FAA (c'mon, your going to tell me no one will blow a whistle?)

3. Actually fly 2 planes into the trade towers, 1 into the pentagon (yeah, no great footage) and 1 into the ground out in PA.

4. Then (after months of secretly planting TNT throughout two 100+ story buildings, plus the fact that no maintenance, security or cleaning personnel seemed not to notice anyone suspicious) after a couple of hours blow up the buildings.

Seeing that I have worked with gov't people and also on very large construction projects, the one thing I know for a fact is the bigger the project and with more people, the LESS complicated the process should be, to reduce major screw ups.

If you are going to create a huge 'terrorist attack' by destroying 2 buildings, hit a main military building and nearly killing the airline industry and the economy, why waste time and potential failure (and whistle blowers) with the first three steps, why not just blow up the buildings!?

Why not just repeat what was done in 93? If it's a conspiracy, wouldn't it be a LOT easier to have an 'inside man' at the security gates that could let in say 5 to 10 truck bombs? Why go through those elaborate steps? Wouldn't you get the same result? A terrified populace? Without almost killing the economy and the airlines??

Plus, if the gov’t did do it, why destroy a plane in the middle of nowhere? Don’t you want people to see it, so they are terrified? Seems like a lot of planning for nothing.

PS, I think the conspiracy theory is BS

Anonymous said...

You'd think they would have given him some advanced notice!

Anonymous said...

Keith,
Unlike you, I happened to follow Richard's link and watched the whole 911 mysteries documentary. Previously I always disregarded any such thing as ridiculous. However I am shocked at how much evidence is now collected. Look it up on google video or youtube, you will see countless quality videos about this. Like someone commmented, some people will just refuse to accept the 'conspiracy theory' even if the evidence is as high as Mount Baker. If this is all true, I commend the amount of effort those people do to expose one of the biggest conspiracies. Someone has definitely underestimated the way truth may spread in this age of information.

""The site host is making me get a dedicated server due to traffic issues. Should be back up within 24 hours."

Damn my site used 25GB in July without probs. What kind of crappy host does he have? He doesnt have any multi media or nothing on it.

Ano 4:31

Maybe it is possible that the government learned the planned attack (by Bin Laden) way in advance and decided to play along? And make it more dramatic?

capitalME said...

25GB is nothing...any shared server can handle that. Ben's probably doing 25/day+.

Last time I was able to get on was about 3:30 p.m. PST

Read great article on current state of the California housing market. Lots of good comments & viewpoints. Hope Ben is back up & running soon.

"Maybe it is possible that the government learned the planned attack (by Bin Laden) way in advance and decided to play along? And make it more dramatic?"

Or maybe some intel agency knew and said nothing to further their own ends. Remember the Israeli "art students" story? That story just disappeared. The "students" all had military/intel backgrounds and were moving around the country and residing in same cities as Atta & co. This is at least plausible.

Ben would be moving less traffic if his server did HTTP gzip compression. Plus, his page would load as fast as Keith's or any other blogger.com site!

Keith,
You calling Ben's blog paranoid is certainly the pot calling the kettle black. While your blog can be highly entertaining, at least Ben's isn't full of completely-paranoid americans-against-the-evil-world comments. Some of your personal comments really are the most paranoid stuff I have read!

That said, I love both blogs - just don't understand your labelling.

richard - your threadjacking is becoming boooorrriiinnnnggggg

time to go play outside now

hp'ers - ignore richard. i'll do the same. any if he's threadjacking, i'll delete

Yeah, I think that was the memo that Condoleeza Rice received that was entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike America."

is that picture of Ben from his underground bunker? Or is that just a really bad squalid home?

That silence you hear is what happened after the real estate market completely blew up about 14 hours ago and took Ben's blog with it. Please take a moment of silence to remember the fallen home buyers and flippers.

Ben's blog appears to be back, but with all posts removed.

I don't think Ben's "go it alone", isolation approach is good for the housing bubble and even the blogging community as a whole.

I used to visit there more, but I starting noticed my comment posts were not showing up. No swearing or whatever, maybe some light smack talk to the housing bulls. I'm not a big fan of overcensoring, bloggers should let readers speak their mind.

The vision dims and all that remains are memories. They take me back - back to the place where the black pump sucked guzzolene from the earth and RE investors flipped properties for huge profits. And I remember the terrible battle we fought - the day we left that place forever. But, most of all, I remember the courage of a stranger, a road warrior called Ben.

To understand who he was, you must go back to the last days of the old world, when, for reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior nations went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all.
For without fuel they were nothing. They had built a house of straw. People stopped in the streets and listened: for the first time they heard the sound of silence. Their world crumbled.

And only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. At last, the vermin had inherited the earth. And in this maelstrom of decay, ordinary men were battered and crushed.

Men like the Warrior Ben, who in the roar of an engine, lost everything and became a shell of a man. A burnt out, desolate man, a dead man, running from the demons of his past. A man who wandered far away. And it was out here in this blighted place that he learned to live again.

>>> Loose Change Weirdo's

They get their education from hollywood movies and think a large scale commando operation is a "piece of cake" and something the government can do easily by just picking up a phone....

I am sorry to see a physics professor get sucked in as well. But then again, the university of salt lake was involved in the cold fusion scandal in the 80's

So, I am an engineer, trained in physics, but not polluted by a Phd. This is what happened:

- A hijacked plane full of thousands of gallons of jet fuel for a cross country flight crashed into the building with the bulk of its fuel load.

- This left a large hole in the main outer skeleton of the building, but its engineering redundancy allowed it to continue to stand.

- The heat from the large fire effected the tensile strength of the steel, which causes it to become more "plastic". For the people who don't understand steel and material science, you do not have to get hot enough to "melt" the steel. By raising its temperature, it becomes "weaker in column", beyond the point it was designed for.

(Science for laymen: Take a stick of butter out of the refrigerator and it is hard and firm. Let it warm up a little and it is soft and mushy. The temperature does not have to rise to the point to melt the butter into a puddle in order to weaken it significantly)

- The buildings were designed to handle an internal office fire (chairs, carpets, desks, stacks of paper and books), but not thousands of gallons of jet fuel.

- To the testament of the buildings engineering, it still stood for longer than you could expect.

- If you closely watch the news videos, you see the top "topple" a little as the section with the weakened skeleton finally gives out.

- The "pan-caking" effect of the impact load from the floors above caused instant failure of the lower floors structure/skeleton.

(More science for laymen: If I take a heavy book and ask you to hold it on your head, you are OK. If I drop it just 1 foot from over your head, you will have a very different experience)

- Gravity does the rest. The fact they fell straight down showed the symmetry of the buildings structural design.

- The "air puff" that some people point to as a secondary explosion is from air overpressure as the buildings collapsed. The lower floors where not yet compromised, so held their air pressure until the windows blew out.

I can't believe that universities do not out right fire people for giving garbage information. Yes, they are supposed to be "open" to alternative points of view (except for a conservative one), but when someone deliberately uses bad science and doctored information to make a point, this is the biggest breach of ethics in academia and usually results in removal.
