HP dedicates this song to the people of America as you settle down in your (if it's still your) living rooms to watch John McCain and the GOP tonight

You get the government you deserve.

You got the government you deserved.

How'd that work out for ya?

The Demorats are just as bad as the GOP. Out with both parties.

Well, I settled down in my chair in my living room...and I watched Sarah Palin open up a can of whoop ass on your empty suit! I was dancing around the living room that I RENT, yessirree!

She already had the Right on board for 5 days. And now the Barracuda gave Barky a body blow that should leave him reeling for a few days. She's going after the blue collar vote, the independents, the disaffected Clinton voters -- and you'd better believe, she reached them.

The pit bull called Barky out for what he is: Nothing. A hapless "community organizer", conning millions of Americans with his shabby resume; a guy who hauls styrofoam Greek columns into a stadium full of panting fools; a guy who's on a "journey of personal discovery" to become president. Oh man, there were so many zingers, I couldn't keep up with them. Finally, some had had the balls to take to the stage and say what most of America has been feeling and thinking for a year now!

So Keith, better send some notes to your buddy Biden: GAME ON, brother. Game on. Bend over, remove cap from lube, and get read to get WORKED -- Barracuda-style.

Oh, and you've gotta love how Barky's camp and the media have been trashing this woman mercilessly ALL weekend -- she's inexperienced, she's stupid, she''s a bad mother -- and when she has the nerve to fight back, they cry foul! "She was sarcastic! She was mean!"

Wusses. Shut up and take your beating.

The Dems may have been able to diss Hillary, kick her to the side, leave her for dead. But the GOP isn't taking that crap.

So sorry Keith, you're going to have to re-write the ending to this saga. No way, no how, is Barky a shoo-in. If he wants to carry this "journey of personal discovery" to its conclusion, he's going to have to get off his a** and actually work -- for a change. Then finally, he may have something to put on his resume.

I'm going to grab a cigarette...this was better than sex.

In case you're missing what the folks are saying State-side, let me bring you up to speed:
Enjoy!

"Sarah Palin delivered. An embattled vice presidential candidate, a novice on the national stage, the head of a family suffering its "ups and downs," the first-term Alaska governor rocked the GOP convention with a star-turning performance."

"PALIN'S HOME RUN

Is there still an enthusiasm gap?

Twenty years after Ronald Reagan left office, Republicans who have long missed him may have found a future Margaret Thatcher. If John McCain wins, conservatives may find one of the most enduring accomplishments of his term will have been what he did before it started: helping to fill the Republican Party's future talent bench with such a fresh and compelling figure.

Sarah Palin is a conviction politician, a naturally compelling speaker and someone who can relate to her audience on very human terms. America has just learned why Mrs. Palin enjoys the highest approval ratings of any governor in America.

Liberal commentators glumly noted the thunderous applause in the convention hall last night. But they could do precious little to attack. Even Keith Olbermann, MSNBC's official attack dog, could muster only this as commentary on Mrs. Palin's performance: "People who like this sort of thing will find this ... the sort of thing they like."

Mrs. Palin accomplished several things last night. First, she introduced herself and her story to the American people in a compelling and warm manner, complete with effective pictures of her proud family. Secondly, she praised John McCain's leadership, service to country and independence in a way that made him come alive. Thirdly, she effectively deflected the media and liberal criticism of her by saying they really represented an attack on the small-town and suburban values she grew up with. Lastly, she skewered Barack Obama with gusto but without meanness. Her line about her job as a small-town mayor being "sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities" brought the hall to its feet in a frenzy.

Some hard-bitten political observers I know were uncharacteristically impressed with the Palin speech. Hal Stratton, a former Attorney General of New Mexico, wrote to me as follows: "That's what we out west call openin' a whole can of whip a— on your opponents."

Other observers were more restrained, but still impressed. "She passed her first major test, and if the reaction of the crowd in the hall is any indication, with flying colors," says Peter Brown, the deputy director of the Quinnipiac Poll. "So much for the comparisons with Dan Quayle, who couldn't have given that speech if his life depended on it. Obviously, Sarah Palin probably went down better in Warren, Michigan than she did in Washington, D.C. -- but that was the whole point of her speech and her candidacy." Indeed, while Mrs. Palin certainly won't swing any deeply blue states in John McCain's direction, she may have an impact in swaying independent voters as well as boosting GOP turnout in swing states such as Colorado, Nevada and Michigan.

Anderson Cooper: "A star was born for the Republican party...no one has any doubt, listening to that speech, that she is a force to be reckoned with."

Wolf Blitzer: 'She not only hit a home run, it might have been a grand slam."

Chris Wallace of Fox News interviewing Howard Wolfson:

Chris: “Yes, I am here with Howard Wolfson. Howard, let me make a keen, political observation to you and the Obama Campaign. You Got Problems.”

Howard: “Well, look I think Senator Biden needs to bring his “A” game to this debate. The media had sold the story of this woman in the middle of a soap opera. She came out here and she benefited from low expectations and she gave a heck of a speech. What I was particularily impressed with, was her ability to stick a knife into Barack Obama with a smile and do it effectively. She was very, very good.

Anonymous said...

I tuned in to watch the speech. It was revolting, to say the least. Palin offered nothing in the way of policy or ideas, but instead spewed a stream of vitriolic attacks against Obama for such things as serving his community and being a adept writer.

While I found her speech to be grating, the audience reaction was just downright horrifying. I felt like I was seeing a Hitler rally. The crowd whooped and hollered for every bitter, angry insult. Bleached of all but a few token minorities, they looked at times as if they were in the midst of a religious revival, losing control of their bodies when certain fundie code words were spoken.

Palin can't even run her own family, how do you expect her to run the country once the old fart dies? How did the "abstinence only" approach work out for her daughter? I am sure it was an immaculate conception. The American people are stupid enough to believe it. America desperately deserves what it has coming at every level. Foreign policies, energy, economy and fiscal policy.
There's a certain sick entertainment value in watching the smoldering wreck this country has become. Neither party has the means nor willingness to administer the bitter medicine it takes to fix this mess. Judging by the last 16 years, under Republican rule the decline will happen at a more rapid pace when compared to the Democrats.
Maybe we get lucky and McInsane starts a few more wars in far flung corners of the world. We need to start a new cold war with the Russians and the Googs. Screw those bastards! Increase the military budget. Cut education, health, infrastructure and basically anything else that would benefit the idiots that voted for either party. We need to overturn Roe vs. Wade; think cannon fodder here. Abandon all alternative energy programs. Alternative energy is for wussies and it is un-American. We can run this country on oil alone if "they" would just let us give mother earth a good drilling. We need to give high earners more tax breaks so they can trickle down some more on the hapless and ignorant masses. We need to give more power to the FED considering their outstanding performance in years past. As Cheney already pointed out, budget deficits don't matter anymore. Go out and spend like there's no tomorrow, because there won't be a tomorrow.
RIP

Can anyone recall a single memorable line that the empty-suit Obama gave in front of his styrofoam Greek columns? Palin's speech had dozens of memorable lines, beautifully delivered. My favorite:

"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a "community organizer," except that you have actual responsibilities. I might add that in small towns, we don't quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren't listening.

We tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco.

As for my running mate, you can be certain that wherever he goes, and whoever is listening, John McCain is the same man."

I can't wait for her to debate gaffe-prone Joe Biden. It's going to be a train wreck.

I literally was just shocked to watch Sarah Palin last night address the convention. She is just a soccer mom. This is how it goes now? Soccer moms from Alaska addressing the nation with hopes to lead the entire country, the free world? What ever happened to education, intelligence, discourse, true thoughts and discussions of the issues.

She had nothing of content to speak to. Just sad. I guess the GOP intent was to message to the ignorant Wal-mart shoppers out there. Talk about lack of vision. It seemed to me the Republicans in the audience were bored with her too.

fascism |ˈfa sh ˌizəm| (also Fascism)
noun
an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.
• extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practice.
The term Fascism was first used by the totalitarian right-wing nationalist regime of Mussolini in Italy (1922–43), and the regimes of the Nazis in Germany and Franco in Spain were also fascist. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one national or ethnic group, a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach.

Official 2008 Republican Platform on Housing:
Rebuilding Homeownership
Homeownership remains key to creating an
opportunity society. We support timely and carefully
targeted aid to those hurt by the housing crisis so
that affected individuals can have a chance to trade a
burdensome mortgage for a manageable loan that
reflects their home’s market value. At the same time,
government action must not implicitly encourage
anyone to borrow more than they can afford to repay.
We support energetic federal investigation and,
where appropriate, prosecution of criminal wrongdoing
in the mortgage industry and investment sector.
We do not support government bailouts of private
institutions. Government interference in the
markets exacerbates problems in the marketplace
and causes the free market to take longer to correct
itself. We believe in the free market as the best tool to
sustained prosperity and opportunity for all. We
encourage potential buyers to work in concert with
the lending community to educate themselves about
the responsibilities of purchasing a home, condo, or
land.

Why would anyone in this day and age have five kids? Seriously! Palin is more of a crazy fundamentalist than Bush43. This whole race is depressing. With Palin we'll devolve into superstitious, chicken-bone reading, no-"book learnin'" inbreeds.

With Obama we're just going to get the same big government we've had but at least he might (I'm hoping) loosen up on the religious-based social issues and scale back our current police state.

Last night I watched Ron Paul's speech and agreed with every thing his said. The man had the decency at the very beginning to acknowledge our country freedom of religion. He attacked our big government, he attacked our illegal wars both on foreign and domestic targets. He even attacked our insane energy policy that puts targets on sugar ethanol so that we have to pay more for corn based ethanol.

The presidency is a job and the public is treating it like a beauty contest.

Anonymous said...

1 The media has NOT attacked Palin but they have been doing their JOB. Which is to find out who the hell Palin is and why the hell McCain chose her instead of about 100 other more qualified people.
2 The reason she was seen as "kicked ass" last night is only because there was no one there to argue against her. Just wait.
3 I have voted Republican before but quite frankly once this canidate Palin gets up on stage and starts using God in defense of Repulbican decisions to go to Iraq that is and should be for everyone a major red flag.

She is not able to help John McCain that much. But she sure will ensure that Barak & Joe come out with both guns blazing. The democrats are dug into the trenches. They are ready for war.

I came away from Obama's speech last week feeling good, hopeful, uplifted and part of a common whole. I felt I could help make America a better place in concert with others.

I came away from Palin's speech feeling worried, slightly irritated and depressed. I felt I was excluded and reviled, and had no part in the America she spoke about.

If her purpose last night was to sock it in the chin to the Democrats and the media, she did an outstanding job of it.

If her purpose was to show us who she is and how she'll make a difference to her country, she did an amazingly bad job it.

So kudos to her for being able to read a speech generically crafted for the GOP VP written by Bush's speechwriter - which needed to be made 'less masculine" at the last minute, and had tricky words like "nuclear" and "Azerbijan" spelled phonetically.

Kudos too, for pillarying the press and getting the 'east coast media elite' meme-du-jour right, despite the fact that in the days to come she'll really need the 4th estate to help her out.

Kudos also, for mocking a man who she has never met personally, in more swinging terms and with more scorn than both Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani - both of whom at least have a personal realationship with Obama of many years standing.
They may not like him, but at least they can point him out in a crowd.

Although, at the GOP convention, he'd be as noticable as a Salaryman in a crowd of chanting Ubangis... the sea of pale cream faces was noticable by its homogeneity.

I also can't help relishing the irony that, for her anyway, any mention of questioning her experience is belittling and sexist.
Yet pouring scorn on community organisers and Obama's none too shabby record in the Senate is somehow not belittling and racist.

So, you pays yer money and you takes yer choice.

'Hope' vs 'Hate'.

Call me crazy, but I'll take 'Hope' every time.

You are a man of your word..You speak the truth. It is ashame most Americans can't see what is happening right now. Unemployment Highest in 5 years.
I work for a Marriot hotel. We had our opening 6 months ago. I was lucky to transfered from another Mariiot, so I was for the sales office in a trailer. We held an open house for jobs such as Maintance Mrg., Maintance, front desk agents, housekeeping and one housekeeping supervisor. We had a General Mgr, Assistant GM, Sales Mgr, myself sales coordinator. The total number of hirings 30. I have been in the hotel industry for 15 years. Never have I seen such a skelaton crew.
I sat in the trailer and witness story after story of over qualified college graduates applying for jobs that pay no more than $8 to $10.00 an hr.
It was sad to hear people who were making 40-70,000 a year begging yes begging for a job that pays less than 10.00 an hour.
I accepted a position that is 1/2 of what I was paid 8 years ago.
This is just a sample of what is happening in our country.
I think we need to talk about issues not about Palin and her 375.00 wireless glasses.
Why aren't we asking the tough questions.
This is serious kids.
This is not the superbowl this is our lives.
Whoever the President may be we will hit rough times ahead.
Educate yourselves about the Great Depression...Its happening before our eyes. Prepare yourself.
Knowledge is key.
See what happens when you elect of party of no regulation of corporations, hedge funds, and wall street. A Party who sits back and believe we are on our own. A party who does not believe in tax for the wealthy small yes small percentage. A party who sat back and watch New Orleans destroyed, only cared about americans stealing tvs. A party who led of into a false war. A digraceful party who charges will never be brought onto them.
So make your decision in November, but do the homework regarding Palin. Be smart..JUst don't accept her word....I did the homework and she will never get my vote.
Thank You.
