I'm back... what'd I miss (besides another epic Bush foreign policy disaster)?

Internet's down in England, but will try to keep up today..

* Angelo Mozilo is under formal SEC investigation... and the noose tightens

* Casey Serin is back online - enjoy

* Oil bubble has burst, spectacularly, right on schedule

* What else?

Bush foreign policy disaster....uhm Qweefer, take a look at your boy wonder Obama. He showed himself to be a rookie on this one. Took him 3 days to come to the conclusion that Russia was the aggressor.

I used to think McCain would win a close one. Not anymore. It will be a 40+ state landslide. No sane American could possibly support Obama.

Two House Republicans seek Countrywide probe

Associated Press - August 13, 2008 6:33 PM ET

WASHINGTON (AP) - Two Republicans are calling for an investigation into whether congressional lawmakers or staffers received preferential treatment from a troubled mortgage lender.

Countrywide Financial, which was sold to Bank of America earlier this year, has been the focus of allegations that it gave favorable loan terms to lawmakers.

Democratic Senators Christopher Dodd and Kent Conrad have acknowledged receiving mortgages through a VIP program for friends of former Countrywide Chief Executive Angelo Mozilo, but have said they were unaware of any favorable treatment.

Now, Congressmen Darrell Issa (EYE'-suh) and Mark Souder are calling on the House ethics committee to examine allegations in Conde Nast Portfolio magazine that House staffers and members also received such treatment.

Why Russia’s response to Georgia was right

For some of those witnessing the fighting in the Caucasus over the past few days, the narrative is straightforward and easy. The plucky republic of Georgia, with just a few million citizens, was attacked by its giant eastern neighbour, Russia. Add to this all the stereotypes of the cold war era, and you are presented with a truly David and Goliath interpretation – with all its accompanying connotations of good and evil. While this version of events is being written in much of the western media, the facts present a different picture.

Let me be absolutely clear. This is not a conflict of Russia’s making; this is not a conflict of Russia’s choosing. There are no winners from this conflict. Hours before the Georgian invasion, Russia had been working to secure a United Nations Security Council statement calling for a renunciation of force by both Georgia and South Ossetians. The statement that could have averted bloodshed was blocked by western countries.

Greenspan Calls Housing Bottom, Sorta
- Add this to his list of credits!

http://tinyurl.com/67pdv4

Alan Greenspan, former chairman of the Federal Reserve, projects that housing prices could bottom out in 2009 - or maybe later - according to a news report.

"Home prices in the U.S. are likely to start to stabilize or touch bottom sometime in the first half of 2009, " said Greenspan to The Wall Street Journal.

But he also added that "prices could continue to drift lower through 2009 and beyond," according to the newspaper.

Sure enough after the panic of 2 months of a non-stop media created non-story, people are coming to their senses. After trading in the Tahoe and driving the Civic, people are realizing it's not worth it. Give up a comfortable, safe poweful ride for a cramped death trap isn't worth the $10 a week saved in gas.

No sane American could possibly support Obama.

No sane person could support McCain, who's a senile old man. It's precisely because we are bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan that Russia finds our threats to be meaningless. They know we don't have the troops to help defend Georgia. One McCain's better quotes was from this week.

"In the 21st century, nations don't invade other nations"

Russia is right here!

The US should stop encouraging ill planned adventures with small countries that threaten the stability of the region. If we were not pandering to the Ukraine and mingling with Nato alliances that make Russia very unease, nothing of this sort would be happening.

Putin showed that he is a STRONG man and Bush had no other choice but to back off.

Whoever wins, be it Obama or McCain is going to have to navigate some very rough waters here!

Sorry but I think McCain is better prepared and I am Dem.

Poor conservative brainstems. They believe that if we just give the country back to republicans, taxes will drop to zero and then they can go out and buy all the shiny things they saw at the mall and MY! won't that impress their friends? I mean, letting the republicans run the country for most of the last 30 years has worked out so well!

All republicans have is hollow pseudo-scandals. That and offshore drilling.

How sad it must be to be totally void of any substance or intellect. Well, at least it's the brainstems whose children will suffer.

I am for freedom of speach but spreading hateful lies is another thing. These men have divided america. I know they do this for MONEY...Sean just signed a radio deal for 100 million dollars. Russia is not the aggressor.
Georgia leveled 10 Ossetian villages and killed 2,000 people. Under cover of the night when people were sleeping and Putin was at the Olympics, thinking they would get away with it.

Then Russia came in and had every right to.

The Georgians backed and trained by America and Isreal were taken by surprise by the Russian force that anticipated this action and were prepared.
Now the western media is trying to spin it because their plan failed and they want that area for the oil.
I have been listening to the media and some main stream media are starting to see who the real aggressors are after more info is coming out.

Maybe Russia should just say that they had intelligence that Georgia was producing weapons of mass destruction. Then invade and not find anything, then look behind a curtain and make jokes about not finding any. ooooppps! None back here!

Good luck with your poisoned bodies, Wal-Mart zombies:

BEIJING — One of China’s highest-ranking food safety officials committed suicide this month during a government corruption investigation, according to a report in a Chinese business magazine, though his agency disputed the circumstances of his death.

The official, Wu Jianping, 42, the head of food production supervision at the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, died after jumping from a building on Aug. 2, a day after being questioned by prosecutors about his financial assets, the magazine Caijing reported on its Web site.

Mr. Wu’s death comes a year after China was rocked by a series of product safety scandals involving contaminated food and drugs, and toys tainted with high levels of lead.

Hey "sophisticated" Europeans, when Russia or any other freak nation comes knocking your door, don't even think about immigrating to North or South America. Don't come crying, trying to immigrate, because we'll beat you up and send all of you back. Aren't you the hot $hit? We're tired of making room for you European parasites and crooks in our continents.

Furthermore, we're sick of having to create all the revolutionary inventions (i.e., Internet, Cellular, PC, Laser, Fiber Optics, Microchips, etc) so you socialist parasites can take a free ride off our backs. You Europeans are too special to work 40 hours to come up with revolutionary inventions, as you rather be sipping wine at Cafes, while you fake that you understand Kant.

Oh, and when your European continent starts going under water because the pole/Greenland are melting, don't try to immigrate either. You bunch of snob American & Latin haters aren't welcomed in our continents.

Funny, these European bastards keep bitching that Americans are materialistic, but I was at Macy's in NYC last week, and the place was flooded with Europeans fighting like wild animals to buy stuff. You go to Florida and there are tons of stinky French moving there because they can't make it in their socialist crappy system, where they have to pay 400,000 euros to live in a studio of 200 sq ft with no A/C.

Oh, and if you like the Messiah Hussein so much, you should have kept him there in Europe to run your soon-to-be Muslim countries.

Well let's see, the west wants to get at central asian oil and natural gas. To do this they(we) need a pipeline either through Georgia or Iran. Putin just let us know what he thinks of the west trying to get a foothold in Georgia. The outcome, I believe, is that we will be kissing or kicking Iranian butt by the end of the year. I think it will be kissing because to invade Iran and then build a pipeline would be a bit obvious. Besides, we don't have a spare army to invade another country.

The difference is Georgia is a neighbor of Russia and likely attacked them first. Iraq posed no threat to the US and is half a world away.

With that said, how can anybody be supportive of invading Iraq, but have any right to complain about what Russia is doing? Like Bush/McCain.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows Barack Obama attracting 43% of the vote while John McCain earns 42%. When "leaners" are included, it’s Obama 47% and McCain 46%

Tiiiiiiiimber. Obama's downfall has begun. Add in the Bradley effect and McCain is up by 6-10%.

See ya Barack. It's been fun but now it's time to let the adults take over.

Georgia had violated one of the three NO of the US:

1. No attack on European countries.
2. No attack on Russia
3. No attack on China

As soon as Obama takes office, another No will be added:

4. No attack on Africa

That will leave only the Middle East to pick on.

Whats happening in Chechnya, Georgia and the other former Soviet republics are a reflection of the aspirations and the political ambitions of Czar Putin.
Has anyone noticed his 'sudden' absence and lack of communication ?
This unexplained 'silence' from a man who had to rush back from Beijing.
Depend on it, Putin will change the Russian constitution after the current puppet has vacated office, to allow him to hold presidential office for multiple terms.
When a politician has enjoyed the power, prestige and adulation, there's no drug in the world that can give him the same high.
More armed conflicts to come. Russia as an entity will not elect to coexist peacefully with the US.
Needless waste of lives to satisfy one man's vanity.

But you can be supportive of the USA in Iraq and opposed to Russia in Georgia?

Republican logic at work, folks.

Georgia started this incursion. Russia stepped in to defend a sovereign region. This little neo-con attempt to trick us into another clusterfuck failed, spectacularly.
