OK, even though we're only paying pennies on the dollar and going lower every year, it's still tough dealing with desperate landlords

Not too many desperate landlords in Portland. Rents are up 15 percent in the last 24 months.

Even better is to tell the HOA to take a hike ...
They dont have the owners correct address and they send it all to us. We have it in the rental agreement that we can have the crap we do ... I call and yell at the beeyatches in the HOA every month.
However I aint getting much less than 60c on the $ for rent around here. Doesn't show much signs of dropping. I find what I like, and I'll round up all the fines etc I have run up in the HOA, and give them the new address as well as inform the county property tax people that owner dont live in the house. Not from day 1, rental all the time. Can you say county gonna want a bunch of the homestead exemption $$ back ...
I think they will be thrilled to release me from the lease by then.
Cool.

Floptards are happy to have negative cash flow in Metro DC, but they hate to spend a nickel on maintaining the place. I pay the rent early and just do not bother them.

We were looking at rental listings in Orange County and were laughing. Rents have fallen dramatically since we moved here almost a year ago.

The few landlords still asking early 2007 rents have been vacant for months and months.

There's one house we almost leased a year ago, until the desperate homedebtor decided to sell instead of rent it out.

It's still for sale today. And vacant.

Have any of you renters experienced a landlord walking away from the house you live in?

It seems very hypocritical that you are renting from actual homeowners that are feeling the pain that this whole board is about!

If it wasn't for homeowners most of you would be out on the street. Who would you rent from? I guess your only solution would be an apartment complex.

So this whole mess could and will grab a hold of you renters too, if it becomes to painful for your landlord to keep paying that mortgage!

All Americans have to live somewhere. I guess you could always get a brown box...

My "now previous landlord" said he's NOW "under water" because of the homes he has for sale wont sell, so I have to take him to court to get back my $400 security deposit that he SPENT. He has 30-days to return my deposit by law, and the place is cleaner then when I moved in! If figures, he works at a bank as well as being a failed RE investor...

Renters Beware! Landlords may never return your deposit in the Great American GOP/DEM Crash of 2007 - 2008!

Just remember: Al-Qaeda did it!

What a pile of male cattle manure!

You made the wrong decision, now live with it!

Just out of curiosity, do you think we are surprised to hear that you planned to hold the gun to our heads all along?

Don't go off on a tangent here, I'd really like to know.
