FAILURES!!! (and it's gonna get worse)

Get rid of 'em in November HP'ers. Every one of 'em.

Every one of 'em.

Americans' approval of Congress sinks to new low

As President Bush and Congress battle on the budget, homeland security and the war in Iraq, Americans blame both Republicans and Democrats for the impasse.

By more than 2-to-1 margins, they give the president, congressional Democrats and congressional Republicans unfavorable ratings in a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll released Monday.

While Bush's ratings have been poor for most of the past two years, the two parties in Congress hit new lows in the poll.

Failure? HUH? What? Who? When? How's that? Come again?

You socialists were screaming about how wonderful it would be when the Democrats took over. Raise the minimum wage, cut out corruption that only the evil Reps ever took part in,lower gas prices. Cut spending.

Yeah right.

Keep voting Democrat everyone.

Keith,

Im one of your loyal readers, but I say you are a given up, tired REPUBLICAN. I can read it in your text. I know you always hated Dems.

Just a note on this. It only makes sense that the Dems are against anything Bush does. Why? Isnt that what the Republicans have done for the last freaking 7 years?

I remember when the Republicans used to tell Dems not to even show up because they would not even matter. The Dems should stick it back to the Republicans, they deserve it and you know it.

I do agree with you that some of these Dems suck.

I'm an Independent, always have been, always will be.

Democrats suck. Republicans suck. The system is corrupt. And if it wasn't obvious by now, when will it be?

Wake up folks. Most of you are. Some of you are still very very asleep.

Yes, it's going to get worse -- for honest Americans with more than $15.06 in their checking accounts.

While you all were laughing at them in 2007, Congress passed laws that:

1) Allow the IRS to tax unrealized capital gains in retirement accounts of U.S. citizens emigrating to ther countries.

2) Allow DHS to question and/or detain U.S. citizens leaving the U.S. on unscheduled aircraft or ships. Cash or coins can be confiscated at the port of exit at the sole discretion of the ICE officer. Want your money back? LOL -- get a lawyer!

3) Limit cash conversions at banks. As of 1/1/08, U.S. citizens may purchase only $5K of savings bonds per year, down from the previous limit of $30K. Some banks are now limiting wire transactions to specific amounts per month (Citi, BoA), and any transaction can be put on hold indefinitely under the guise of investigating possible criminal or terrorist activity. In other words if you expect to access or move your money at will, forget it, that's all history.

Remember comrades:

War Is Peace, Freedom Is Slavery, Ignorance Is Strength.

To the Socialist guy above. Are you freaking serious???

Republicans made fun of Dems for the past 7 years, they passed just about every freaking REPUBLIC TAX brake they wanted (did you get any benefit from that??), and stepped over any legislation the Dems put out there, and now you want the Dems to be the nice cooperative party. The Republican party is the freaking worst sh*t to ever hit this country.

And even though I am a long standing Dem, Im loosing my taste for them myself with this housing bail out crap.

You have presidential elections in November, we have them in March and still have to wonder about our candidates!

By the way, Gold Certificates have appeared in Russian TV advertisements. A classic: shows the falling USD vs. rising gold. It's finished as far as I'm concerned.

When the president acknowledges we have a bubble only the dumbest of dumb are left still wondering. The smart money left long time ago and is looking for the next great thing which seems to be china.

Why can't the Americano just get drunk, get fat, screw and have 10 kids, and die instead of bothering other people's lives? Is it hard to do so ?

Tell us about Putin. Does he want to do the right thing or is he a communist pretending to really care? We know he is ex KGB and that alone makes me nervous and also suspicious. If he is a Russian nationalist, doing what he needs to do to try and take Russia back for the Russian people from the people who stold it in the early 1900's then we salute him and wish him the best of luck.

To the fool asking whether my taxes went down due to the tax BRAKE . Answer is yes indeed. So far I have saved about $125K in taxes since the 2001 tax cuts were passed.

Now you on the other hand probably pay no taxes at all. You didn't get a tax cut since you can't go from $0 to less than $0. You are like 50% of Americans who pay $0 taxes and then complain when I get a small tax cut as somehow benefits too much.

I pay more in taxes every year than your pathetic ass earns. I fund your kids' education, I pay for the roads you use every day. I pay for every freebie you get from the government. All that and then you have the gall to suggest I pay too little.

Well fuck you. You should be on your knees thanking me for the taxes I pay. Without me you would live like a 3rd world vagrant. What an ungrateful asshole you are.

the measure of a man doesn't have anything to do with how much or how little he pays in income taxes. the income tax is unconstitutional but the IRS goon squad who are one of the real homegrown terrorist organizations do their best to scare people to make sure they continue paying this illegal tax. The income tax is levied to pay the interest on the national debt and not one dollar of it goes to anything but that. To anyone who says that you must pay your fair share in order to help out on the expenses of infrastructure and whatnot , you are severely ignorant of what is truely going on. the government we now have which in its present form has been with us since about 1875 or so, is a system of corportations with each sub corportation responsible for their budgets. these budget funds come from sales taxes ,fees, fines ,etc. the purpose of the income tax is to pay on the interest for the national debt, which is lent to us by a private bank called the FED. so they print our money and call it notes and then charge us interest to lend us money. sweet scam , wouldn't you say?

Sure, throw out the dems and reinstall the republicans. That way there will be total chaos in the financial markets as the republicans re-release the economic predators. Then they can find the few they didn't fuck over and fuck them even harder.

Approval ratings from this population mean little. It's an ignorant, stupid, selfish culture of people who want it all with no sacrifice. They want a tax-free, gigh benefit nation of comfort and lots and lots of stuff. For FREE!

And don't forget, the republicans make up nearly half of the Congress.

I sincerely hope this country gets the collapse and misery it so richly deserves and very soon.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The government is promising $45 trillion more than it can deliver on Social Security, Medicare and other benefit programs.

The $45.1 trillion shortfall has increased by nearly $1 trillion in just one year, according to the administration's "Financial Report of the United States Government" for 2006. And, it's up 67.8 percent in just the past four years. In 2003, the shortfall between promised benefits and revenue sources over a 75-year period was put at $26.9 trillion.

When the gap in funding social insurance programs is added to other government commitments, the total shortfall as of Sept. 30 represented $53 trillion, up more than $2 trillion in just a year, the report said.

Can I get just one candidate to walk up to the podium and advocate a rational plan to permantly fix

1. Social Security
2. Illegal immigration
3. The unbearable complexity of our tax code
4. Tort reform (lawyers taking over the country)
5. The national debt
6. Creeping Socialism
7. Coruption in Fannie-mae

It pisses me off that the best we have is Ron Paul and the idiot public is too freaking stupid to listen to him. Why don't sheeple demand real answers from the candidates?

To Anon @10:43 PM: a certain official praised Putin as a "Russian Roosevelt" a couple of years ago - that's infinitely precise. No one knows to what extent did Putin's cabinets help toward economic recovery. The KGB past is hardly felt today while the alphabet-soup bureaucracy certainly is. Now, Putin has served two terms, and when did FDR's third term begin? 1941, the Pearl Harbor year! You got it right with 22nd Amendment and I think we'd better keep up with the constitutional two-term limit...

These entitlement programs are huge ponzi schemes. They only work as long as the population keeps increasing. As people live longer and have fewer children, you will have fewer workers supporting more retirees. All the while, the SS/MC retirement age has stayed unchanged for the past 70 years. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is even more unsustainable than the housing bubble. Anyone who is still young should get out while they can. Europe is in an even worse situation.

Buddy, you need to understand that this is the problem in our country. As far as you benefiting under bush vs Clinton. I would say that Clinton was a far better president overall than Bush, hands down. No need to poll that either.

The only issue with Clinton was that he let Greenspan do what he wanted. And what Greenspan wanted was bubble, bubble, bubble.

As far as Bush, oh man. There are so many bad things about this dude that I can just keep going and going. First off, he was pressuring Greenspan to keep the economy afloat, no matter what. He is now pressuring Bernanke the same way.

The only benefit I see from Bush are to the rich, that are making a nice chunk of change, say 250k a year. And even though I am not at the low end, I am not at 250k either. So I, and 95% of americans did not see any benefit out of those My-buddy-tax-break. My opinion is he should have gotten impeached after the first tax break, freaking thieves.
