What a moron. Nobody's going to touch us militarily. Hey Dr. Idiot, ever hear of China and it's 3 million man standing army? They're not building up that army for fun.

I cannot believe people are so gullible as to believe simplistic nonsense from him. Just trade and visit and be friendly with everyone and we'll all be best of friends.

We traded and visited with Japan and Germany a whole bunch prior to WW2. And prior to WW1, Germany and England traded and visited a shitload.

Ron Paul is the Hope of America. It has been a long time since I believed someone running actually had values and stood for someting worth supporting. It has been a long time since I trusted the words and actions of a candidate and Ron Paul has that quality. I am so tired of politricksters running this country and screwing it up. This country is needs a president that actually LOVES his country. Thank you Ron Paul. Google Ron Paul.

Ron Paul in '08.

1908 that is.

That's all Ron Paul is. A nostalic old fool who wants to go back to the "good old days" that never really existed. That's why these 18 year old college student supporters of his like his message so much. They think Leave it To Beaver was real and that is what life was like in "the good old days".

They forget the part about segregation and no abortion rights and women practically being slaves in their own home and the lack of Social Security and the lack of Medicare leading to old people living in poverty. And they forget that only the elite/rich got to go to college. 90% of Ron Paul's college-aged supporters probably get some kind of federal assistance to go to college, whether a loan, a grant. And yet they support a guy who would do away with that. Makes no sense.

Oh well, every generation there is a nut like this. In the 90s we had Ross Perot. Today we have Ron Paul. And 15 years from now today's 18 year olds will look back and think what the fuck was I thinking?

RP's demeanor in this interview was so much better than the debates I've seen him in. No more rambling and squeaky-voiced monologues. Honest humor and hints of wit serve him well.

He must be getting some coaching and I hope he takes this new approach in future debates.

Har Ron Paul ever been abroad? If America wasn't there to balance Russia and China all the small nations would get nukes and sooner or later one would go off in the direction of the US.

The world isn't large anymore. Europe and China are only a few hours away by plane!

A Ron Paul classic from 1988. The message made sense then, and it makes sense now. The newscaster is frightened of the Soviet Union and Ron Paul tells him flat out, they're going bankrupt and we don't need to worry about it. Replace Soviets with [thing to be scared of this year].

This is another glaring mistake in this country.
If there wasn't easy money shoved down the throats of "college bound seniors" to study worthless sheite like Criminal investigative science (Like WTF we need 30,000 new criminalists each year) college tuition fees and this and that will drop to nothing.
Now College kids are almsot entitled to run up debt and live on their own. Which is BS IMHO. Get a job and pay for college and live yourself wihtout debt or stay at home with mom and dad, do the damn chores, be accountable like they tell you and be debt free when you graduate and for gods sake study somehting worth getting you a job for, else everything will be shipped off to India and china and you'd be a criminal/Investigator.
These entitlement and grants and loans do nothing but make education costs skyrocket. Just like the loose money made real estate skyrocket.
Foreign born, foreign educated and I see this happening there too, and its pitiful.
Cool.

Nope, Britain and Germany - not since the 1500's and even then it was very frosty I believe.
However in the 80's the US funded and helped Saddam against Iran, and the very famous Taliban and Bin Laden.
The one thing I will say though, Britain was a super power before WW2, not the hand puppet of the US. And britain and France weren't too friendly either.
Cool.

God ... I like Ron Paul. On top of being the only REAL republican, I get the sense that his core beliefs and morals extend to his soul which is more than I can say for some of the other cheeseball candidates. He is obviously the most intellectual candidate and he just seems like a classy guy.

While I don't like to make fun of a serious political candidate, I did like some of what Mr. Paul had to say. I have never seen or heard the man before. Some of the comments left on this blog make me wonder why any decent person would want to lead this country.

We are, for the most part, a lost nation. A group of spoiled fools that are about to get the total anarchy and destruction we deserve. We are slaves. Slaves to our food, sex, music, TV's everything. No wonder Hillary is going to win without even having a track record.

We are a bunch of hypnotized zombies that do not or will not wake up to reality. We have worthless paper for money, and I believe that the Chinese will not even have to fire a shot to conquer us. All they have to do is tell the world that our money is no good anymore.

Ever notice that gold prices have shot up in the last 20 years? That's because the Chinese and the Indians have been buying it up.

You see, the have hard assetts now and in a few more years, will probably tell us ,their biggest cash cow, that we are no longer needed. When that happens, all hell will break loose. America will be in a survival state.

Or, the other scenario. In order to take care of everyone that is coming to this country, we will eventually have to continue to pay higher and higher taxes. When you couple that with higher and higher gas and fuel prices, and everything else that is rapidly rising, one day farmers that work their asses off will finally throw down their tools and say "The Hell With This!I'm gonna Go on The Government Dole Too !"

Good bye American infrastructure, hello dark ages. Just think of all of those people flooding out of the deranged cities looking for food and shelter, not to mention all of the incredibly cruel and detestable prisoners that will suddenly be let free.

Once we begin to really suffer, we will cry out for a great leader. But there will be no leader. We will want want a wizard that will take us back to the way we were before. But we will find no wizard, only a cruel and evil ruler that will at first promise everything (much like Hillary) and deliver nothing except the ultimate slavery. His ancient name is Satan. Happy Hallowen America.

If men do not find God, they will be ruled by tyrants. - William Penn

Am switching to Republican to vote for him in the primaries. Totally amazing politician. This is a once-in -a- lifetime chance for Americans.

To those who trash Ron Paul:

Yes, things will get better with Mrs. Clinton, The DA from the Law and Order Show (whats his name oh yeaf Fred something) or Rudy the Transvestite Mayor who bailed from the senate race allowing Hillary to win the senate seat. Yep, Ol honest and clear cut Ron should know better than to run against these giants of leadership. So you are against what Ron Paul stands for--what is it your candidate stands for othter than same ol same ol. Have any of them said anything other than doublespeak. I think you RP bashers are afraid of somebody who is consistent and who actually says something. Consider the following Gem from one of your genius candidates on TV Hint HRC: Well, um we can have to um talk to them but we have to be clear um and we have to you know leave all options on the table you know.....Ah yes the genius of Hillary and Fred Thompson and Rudy and UFO siting Kucinich. Yeah and Ron Pual is a bad choice. God you imbeciles deserve the government you got.....

Umm..Dr. Paul never said we are going to lay down our rifles and plant flowers.
There was a time when we needed a close presence to our enemies to keep an eye on them, those times are long gone.
I think our satellites would notice 3 million Chinese mobilizing in real time, they would be sitting ducks for any of our various ICBM launch platforms before they got out of the bay.
No, the only way that China can hurt us is if people like you continue to get your way.
We are borrowing billions from China to finance this "conflict" against the boogie man in sandals, crushing our nations value in the process.
Soon, China will pull the teat and all the little credit fattened piggies will be squealing in the soup line.

He sounds great until he starts talking about defense and the troops.

A very close friend of mine has been in Iraq for 3+ years as a contractor. All I hear from him in near-daily emails is how proud and happy the troops are to be there. Those guys couldn't disagree more with Ron Paul. Ron Paul's allegation of troops "complaining" is baseless.

I really wish this guy had his head out of his a** when it came to national defense, because otherwise he's the perfect candidate.

Oh yeah, has he heard about China and North Korea who are just itching for a pacifist president like him before they attack?

This is what baffles me the most about America. Why is there no investigation into why these universities with billions- BILLIONS- in the bank, continue to gouge students and drive up tuition way past the rate of inflation? And instead of cutting off the money, the democrats voted to INCREASE freebie handout student aid, which will only result in MORE tuition increases?

The abuses of colleges & universities in raping our society out of our hard-earned money is the most glaring travesty of modern society. And yet it goes totally untouched by MSM and politicians, including your "perfect" Ron Paul. My friend the Hon. Dean Martin, Arizona state treasurer, tried to put a stop to this abuse by colleges but was voted down by his "colleagues" in the state legislature. CORRUPTION if you ask me.

Make sure you have all your friends and relatives registered timely and properly if they are going to vote for Paul.

If they are going to vote for Romney or Giuliani, make sure they are registered untimely and improperly.

How about voting for the only candidate with a brain, Fred Thompson.

Ron Paul makes some sense and his frank delivery of his message is refreshing.
His take on the need for government fiscal responsibility is adding some sorely needed perspective to the current political climate.

That being said...

Having been a college student in the 1980's myself, I remember hearing a lot about Ludwig von Mises and the Austrian school of economics that Mr. Paul references.
It was very popular at that time and I was intrigued by it.
A big problem with this economic philosophy is that it is so easy to understand and that it works so well in economic thought models that its adherents tend towards becoming ideologues. "So what if this isn't working in the real world, the model says it should".
This economic philosophy has also been "embraced" by another group of actors who see it simply as a way of enriching themselves while abdicating any thoughts of acting responsibly toward the other players.

The U.S., and the world for that matter, had used gold-backed currencies for most of history until 1944 when the Bretton Woods system was put into place.

VERY bad things still happened to economies on the gold standard.
(eg. the Great Depression). The difference was that there were no ways to deal with these problems other than for ordinary citizens to bear the full effect of the foolish actions of a smaller group of business and economic leaders.

At least under the current fiat currency arrangement monetary policy can be used to dampen boom and bust cycles and make life more predictable for ordinary economic players.

The danger of course, is that the tools made available by the fiat currency system can also be abused. It is a two-edged sword. The same tools that can be used to dampen an economic downturn can also be used to enrich a given group of people at the expense of another group of people.

I guess the question is: "can we be trusted to consistently act responsibly with these powerful economic tools available to us?"

My opinion is that yes, most of the time we can. We were able to do this for a good part of the 20th century. Ron Paul appears to believe that we cannot.

It looks like we may be about to get a small taste of what our grandparents and great-grand parents experienced in the 1930's.
Only this time we have the ability to soften the blow using the system Mr. Paul wants to do away with.

Actually, Ron did not take Federal Aid in his bid to get a BA and his MD. In addition, he did not let any of his kids or grand-kids take federal aid to help them through school. Finally, RP is for getting rid of all Government Aid to get Degrees. This can be found at his website at www.ronpaul2008.com. He understands that this one thing contributes more to rising cost of university then any other candidate running.

I don't believe Iran is peaceful, however, a country with no army, navy or air force, and we are getting ready to go to war. They don't hate us because of our "freedom" and what are they going to do, swim over from Iran and come get you? Americans would be waiting...no no no...salivating at the shores with guns to get them all. I think your imagination is over-run with "Fear"; and you say RP's supporters are the conspiracy theorist's? Listen to yourself talk...

If you worry about their army then obviously you don't know that China could squash the American economy like a bug if they felt like it. They would certainly do that long before they would start a war.

"At least under the current fiat currency arrangement monetary policy can be used to dampen boom and bust cycles and make life more predictable for ordinary economic players."

To Anonymous:
The people of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Yougoslavia, Zaire, and Zimbabwe would like to respectfully disagree with that. They have recently had their life savings wiped out with hyperinflation. It is going to happen to you with the next inflation scare which is coming right about -- now.

Anonymous said...

Haha, it's bizarre people still don't understand that what Ron Paul has always said and is still saying is true.

Gold in 2000 was $200 an ounce, it's about 780 an ounce today. that's due only to inflation because of government spending in Iraq. Oil and gas prices have gone up at almost the same exact rate, this is pure inflation.

No other nation can threaten this nation, nobody can touch us. This is because we have so many nuclear weapons. If it were necessary, this nation could stop any invasion with just 1 nuclear missle. A nuclear missle today has a blast that will destroy 400 square MILES. That will destroy any city on the planet.

When Paul talks about elimination of the IRS that doesn't mean the elmination of state and local taxes. For 60 years people have been paying more into Social Security than Social Security has been payed out to people. You'd expect a net surplus from this money, but the government has spent it all. The government needs to pay out 60 TRILLION DOLLARS over the next 30 years to meet SS obligations. That is the sum total of all taxes for the next TWO decades, or 20 years. Think the government will actually do this?

People are just so ignorant, and there is no excuse for it in this day and age when you have a computer sitting in front of you connected to the most massive communication system ever invented by mankind.

Unknown said...

Wow, this anon guy must really hate reading the news about the Housing Bubble, since, you know, inflation is supposed to "dampen" it.

Anon, you need a history lesson, bad. The Great Depression scare, how quaint. That was caused because of a perfect economic storm. But, it was during a FIAT currency system. It was only exchangable to gold by foreign governments. The whole world experienced the Great Depression because of a Credit Boom.

Ron Paul on military: Unlike anti-war Democrat's who propose "all is good with love and peace", he proposes "all is good with peace and trade...So long as noone can feasibly attack us". That's called national defense, you know, were no enemy can attack our nation. That doesn't mean we protect Japan, Europe, Africa, South America, ect. That means we protect the US, and let the world fight their little wars as they will, so long as nothing can touch foot on our soil or sail in our waters.

Ron Paul is about as "simplistic" as Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, and John Locke, people that you can't seem to grasp, or have open contempt for.

Congrat's you bible-thumping NAZI.

ON EDUCATION:

Did you know that a 5th grade textbook in 1810 was written on what is now commonly accepted as a college level?

So perhaps the reason why our forfathers didn't go to college enmasse, was because, they didn't need it? And that an Associates Degree then was much equivilant to a Master's or Doctor's now? And that a PhD then has no current comparision other than multidisipline graduate degrees?

Perhaps we "need" college now because our "education" system is so watered down that it now takes us much longer to learn the same amount of information because of the slow rate at which they dole it out to students?

Supposedly, after high school, you're supposed to have all the knowledge required to be a productive member of the middle-class. Perhaps that should be our aim rather than pushing everyone into wasting 4 more years in a classroom?
