After the indecisive "Keep Casey, Dump Casey" HP survey, the best suggestion was "keep but only mention if something major"
Well, here you go.
Yes there is an FBI investigation as well. I just learned about it yesterday after I made the decision to shut everything down.
I’m not shutting down because of the FBI thing. The agent told me they don’t care if I keep blogging since they already have all the evidence they need, including the entire blog, loan documents, etc.
I just want to be careful what I say before I can find a criminal defense attorney and make sure I’m not doing anything stupid.
It kind of sucks that right when I decided to do the right thing now the law is after me too. But I guess we all knew this might happen. So its not a big surprise now.
I’ll just have to take responsibility and deal with it the best way I can.

I wanted to post a comment but I can't because I am laughing to hard!
I will only cheer when he is actually sentenced.
I still do not believe we are a nation of laws anymore. Casey is a symptom of that.
In the United States everyone is a criminal, Casey is just one of many, this is a prison country yet people don't see thier imprisonment.
"I just want to be careful what I say before I can find a criminal defense attorney and make sure I’m not doing anything stupid."
Uh, too late?
LOL Casey.
"Just when I was about to start doing the right thing..." and "I'll just have to take responsibility". Serin gas!
/yawn
>> make sure I’m not doing anything stupid.
Like basically being alive for the past 5 years?
Didn't Serin say he was turning off his blog multiple times before?
He's going to regret going to Australia, because that little stunt means the FBI can argue he's a flight risk.
I think his plan was to set up an offshore account to hold all the money from his book project.
Off all the dumb ideas he had, thinking you can get rich from a self published book was the most idiotic.
Oh, he'll be back.
Each stage is just another saga waiting for web publishing.
Let's all try to get him on BigBrother next summer in a write in campaign!
The FBI like S&P finally got around to closing the barn door
He'll be back after the jail time and divorce
The "biggest mistake" Casey made was debating wether he should pay off CashCall, or not... since the debt industry relies on the belief that "the moral thing to do is pay off your debts through work!"
as we all know, corporations have no problem with bankruptcy-- they view it as regrouping, but the US Congress has recently made it more difficult for indivual citizens to do this.
if Casey goes away, then people's resolve to pay won't sway.
Is he really any worse then moody's and S&P for saying the subprime and Alt A paper was worth more then just something to wipe with?
If you where his age and someone handed you 2 million and told you you could make and keep 10% or more on that money after debt service would you have turned it down?
The biggest issue that I have is they'll nail him to a cross and yet all the people in the food chain, including the ones (S&P...) that helped defraud millions of retired people by rating this crap so it could be in pension funds, will go free or just with a slap on the wrist.
The rating agency's, hedge funds and banks conspired to defraud millions of people out of money. Both as investments (pensions) and as mortgages that were unable to be repaid and would be foreclosed on.
If the world is just, Casey will be used to testify against the real criminals.

So in other words he's hosed and everyone else gets off scott free.
The only way I could feel good about this is if the mortgage officers and REIC people who willingly participated in his dealings went to jail with him. The only reason the FBI is going after him is because he's been telling millions of people that he committed fraud. They HAVE to do something. I just hope he takes a lot of REIC people down with him.
About time!
"I just want to be careful what I say before I can find a criminal defense attorney..."
Assuming Casey can find a criminal defense attorney who will work for free, an insanity plea would appear to be his best defense.
V.L.
I thought we won the debate post recently where you said you would never mention Casey again?
FBI needs to devote a full unit to:
1. Comb through county records to identify multiple home purchases by individuals/corps. from 2002-2006
2.Compare names to loan delinquencies, foreclosures
3. Bring these people in and start their way up the criminal food chain; Realwhores, appraisers, loan officers all the way up to the fund managers & CEO’s
4. Make Historic Example of these people convict, Fine & Jail Time
I was too lazy to count 'em up but it looked like a split vote. anyone got any time go find the post and count the confirmed (unique registered users) votes up and let me know
the poor kid is totally screwed. next time we'll see him will be the congressional hearings when he testifies in exchange for immunity and rolls over on any mortgage broker, homeseller or realtor who was in on the cash-back-at-close artificial-appraisal scam
Our jails aren't big enough for all the mortgage fraudsters - especially mortgage brokers and realtors, let alone the flippers. And Bush and the REIC-owned Congress won't approve any funds for more FBI agents to investigate mortgage fraud
And how can the government fine people that have no money?
Crime paid.
And how can the government fine people that have no money?
Agreed Keith! But these people are criminals none the less and need to pay. Like Enron and others this has hurt many, employee pension fund holders etc.. Just regular Jo's wanting to retire someday..
Folks go to jail for much less in this country e.g., smokin a joint for cancer relief..
C'mon now, does this pass your bullshit detector:
"I’m not shutting down because of the FBI thing. The agent told me they don’t care if I keep blogging since they already have all the evidence they need, including the entire blog, loan documents, etc."
Right, the agent offered up that information and advice to someone who is the subject of an investigation.

I was under investigation once. Actually I was just a subchapter in a much bigger story and my investigation was so they could clear out the innocent and concentrate the guilty.
The agent was very forthright, gave me details, told me all sorts of things you would think they wouldn't. Once they contact you they have such a case that nothing you could do or say could sway the case. That is all I saw of the whole story that I could truly believe as it's only something you would know if you were indeed being investigated.
Everybody (all the hatarz) are here now:
http://caseyhaterz.com/
must reg to see forums. its a hoot! join up! The FBI is outside his door right now!
I think he's gunning for a made for TV movie. The equivalent of startup.com for the housing bubble. Oh the drama, oh the sensationalism. I can feel myself getting dumber by the minute.
:)
And *just* when he was going legit, too.
I suspect 90% of the Casey blog is BS, but if the FBI needed a poster boy, well, he takes first place. If he truly does get charged with something, and convicted, and sentence, I'm sure he'll be looking to "monetize" it.
The FBI are nailing this Serin punk early in the game because he is high profile and the news will spread across the Blogs like wild fire.I feel that young Casey is an attention whore and creaming in his jeans in anticipation of the upcoming media circus that will revolve around him.
This is what I called STUPIDITY triumphs over EGOMANIA!
There are so many "fraud-vestors" out there that probably will match the number of illegal aliens in LA.
But this Oxymoron had the audacity of going public with a Bang.... and Sir.. you will be an example for the rest...
Hope that you can socialize as well in the prison patio!
Here's Why!

Anon 3:23,
What I'm saying is that they are likely to crush him and wipe their hands and say "There, the bad guy was punished... Move along, nothing else to see here..."
If there really is justice, they will use him to go after the brokers, appraisers, ratings agencies and hedge funds that cooked up all this crap...
LOLOLOLOL Good...I hope this little perp gets some conjugal visits from Bubba.
While this poor kid gets investigated and made an example of, all the executives of Mortgage company, Wall street and government and other culprits(various branches Executive, Legislative, Judicial, press) go scot free. A lof of Crooks large majority of the people in the country benefited....The corruption started at the top of the country...Bush/Cheney....
His wife locked him out. That is the best part. I bet that she is working with FBI so as to lessen her damage.
"I was gonna try to update my debt sheet and call the mortgages. Unfortunately I don’t quite have the access to my files at home but I’ll see what I can do."

Might I suggest you KSFB?
I hope he had a really-really good time in Australia. He's has come home to face the music now. However, he is locked out so that metaphor doesn't work so well.
It's going to be hard to keep the blog up from prison. Wonder how many non-haterz will visit him.

The NAACP sues over a dozen lenders and you spend your time on Casey Serin?
Oh pleez
If he had pulled it off (flipping)all you wankers would be impressed and buying his book.
The hypocracy on this thread is unbelievable.
Casey will have time in prison to finish his book. He writes pretty well, so he won't have to share revenue with a ghostwriter. He's already branded himself as the poster boy for low level mortgage fraud. If he can find a decent lit agent and avoid the mistake of trying to self-publish, he might make enough money to pay off his criminal restitution debt.
His timing as an author is looking better than his timing as a real estate speculator.
Is there a federal version of the Son-of-Sam law?
