I got one for $1.2 million if your interested! You'll save the 7% commission and you can throw that into renovating the place and making it nicer!

I'll tell you EXACTLY what its like. You go to the local grocery store and you don't hear English spoken. They have a TORTILLA factory inside that store. (By the way this is at Central and Dunlap in Phoenix which is where I grew up, graduated Sunnyslope High School in 1976 right across the street). It could be any other store in America except they offer a wide variety of unusual foods in addition to your ordinary stuff.

Lots of pregnant females pushing strollers with 1 - 3 children trailing behind like little ducklings. Lots of cars in various states of disrepair all over. Plenty of graffiti and now LOTS of barbed wire on a lot of the businesses. On Hatcher the next main street are lots of hispanic businesses with signs completely in Spanish.

Listen if I wanted to visit a Latin American country I would go to one. Having my own g*ddamn country converted is a travesty I will never forgive my government for nor the patriotic morons that keep touting how great America is when this sh*t is happening right under there d*mn noses.

MSM has successfully brainwashed a huge number of Americans into believing that we need unlimited labor invading this country to "take care of the work Americans refuse to do", while teenagers sit on there fat asses playing video games.

About the same.

I honestly feel for you guys. If I was American I would be seriously pissed about the amount of illegal immigration as well as H-1B visas and the seriously broken legal immigration process.

It's not a coincidence that countries with the highest living standards, mostly in northern Europe, have low immigration rates and its hard to get citizenship.

Even in Canada, where we have a relatively high amount of immigration, we don't have the illegal problem so much and that solves alot of problems. Also, immigrating legally here favours highly educated and rich foreigners so that solves another bunch of problems.

Keith,
Thanks for this post. People should report in from all over the US and describe the scourge in their area. Illegals are every damn place in coastal, S.C., go in Wally World on Sunday morning and there are literally hundreds.

This place was listed as one of the best places to retire, I guess if you don’t mind 3rd world scum on every corner living 40 to a house. The big money resorts and greedy ass, white trash builders keep these invaders gainfully employed. Our so-called representatives talk about security yet hundreds of these foreign invaders live right out side of the military bases here.

It’s far from being just a Western U.S. problem, these F#!$*s are everywhere in large numbers..

One of the REIC, property mgmt. establishments here goes door to door every month and collects cash rent from their illegal tenants. This way the general public don’t see the illegals soiling up their tidy little business office.

what does this mean keith?

From the Market Ticker blog (with a hat tip to the Implode-o-Meter), some pretty incredible news:

In individual issue news items, Countrywide (CFC) traded over 13,000 $30 PUT contracts for July today. That contract has no bid, which means they were bought. That’s an absolute lottery ticket but if it pays off…… you have to wonder - does someone know something? That’s so crazily out of the money and expiring next Friday - there’s no way that’s rational unless someone is very sure that the company is going straight in the crapper within a week! The stock is trading near $36 right now! That is almost certainly an institutional bet as the per-contract cost for a retail investor would be positively prohibitive.

For “why would someone do this”, you could look at AHM today. Down almost $2, or more than 11%, on the news leak about layoffs. Subprime contagion, given that AHM is nearly all ALT-A? Hmmmmmm…..

(In all fairness, it may simply be cheap insurance against a disaster. $64,000 worth of cheap insurance that the buyer completely expects to lose. But still…. unless you’re concerned that there might be a disaster, why would you flush $64,000 - that expire before earnings?)

Countrywide is scheduled to report earnings on July 24. The July puts expire on the 20th.

True story...last Friday I booked an emergency flight on US Airways. In this context, emergency means that I needed to leave in 2 hours.

I had to use the phone, I could not book online. Instead of talking with Asheet Gupta (or one of his cousins) in a Bangalore call center, I chatted with Juan Valdez (locale unknown). Juan's accent was so thick that I was quite concerned that he did not understand my lily white (no accent) English. There's nothing quite like booking a flight over the phone and wondering...umm, am I getting what I'm paying for?

I sure as hell had a hard time understanding him.

From the get go, I knew exactly which flights I wanted to book (I had collected all of the pertinent info from Orbitz, I just couldn't make an electronic reservation). It took me about 20 minutes to book the flight because I needed to spell out various English words (street address) and names for Juan. If I had been speaking with someone fluent in English, I could have done the whole thing in 10 minutes. By the time I hung up, I actually wished I had spoken with one of the Gupta clan.

We're edging ever closer to the point where rudimentary Spanish will be a useful skill for day-to-day living.

I hate all these wet backs in our country. If you do not want to assimilate and become American then go home! Congress should pass a law that if you are an illegal then you can be put in to unpaid labor camp where they will work to pay back the services they have stolen from the American people and pay the cost of the deportation to their country of origin. We also must end the birth right for citizenship. You should have to be born here and both your parents were citizens before you can become a citizen. I get so sick of hearing about jobs Americans will not do what they mean to say is Americans will not do this job at the same price wetbacks will. I would no more expect to go to mexico city and not learn to speak the Spanish dialect they speak down there. I think my next vacation is going to be spending some time with the minute men down on the boarder maybe I can bag me a wetback or two. I will not longer eat a chipotle I love their food but I cannot stand all the help talking in Spanish and then they do not understand what I tell them.

Where's the tolerance man? These are just the joys of multi-culturism!

The white-man's greed has made him addicted to immigration and now he can't shake his need for cheap labor... It is not going to stop. So learn to speak Spanish, meanwhile Mexico’s rich will continue to export their poverty. I think I go live will the rich in Mexico...

Needless to say I didn't stay in the South Scottsdale 'hood very long.

No questions asked, no excuses. I bet Lee Scott would be personally interviewing employees to make sure he didn't get nailed. To enforce the law give local police officers 10% of the fine for every illegal caught. 99% would go home voluntarily when there was no demand for their services.

Dave Lovelace laughs when you ask about the purported shortage of qualified IT workers. He has 35 years of senior-level IT experience under his belt, ranging from systems programming to systems engineering to business development. He's published a number of well-regarded books on storage technology, forged strategic alliances between multinational vendors, and negotiated multimillion-dollars contracts.

And, apparently, nobody needs his services.

Over the past 24 months, Lovelace has applied for hundreds of jobs in Silicon Valley, where he's based. It's rare he gets even a courtesy e-mail or call in return.

"I'm not just sending out resumes to every job posting, but only the ones I'm qualified for," said Lovelace, who just finished a book on storage migration for theSAP( SAP) environment. "There's clearly no shortage of technology workers. If that were the case, I'd been getting dozens of calls every week, and salaries would be going through the roof. And that's just not happening."

Or listen to Sharon Adler's story. Adler, like many former IT professionals, has simply stopped looking for work. She earned her master's in computer science from California State University in Northridge in 1988 with a 4.0 grade point average, and spent the next 12 years as a member of the technical staff at Bell Labs developing software -- first Unix kernel code and then data visualization applications using object-oriented technology and C++. In 2000, Adler moved from California to New Hampshire to develop e-commerce applications for a startup, and after the dot.com crash, she developed text-messaging systems for an international telecommunications company. In 2002 the Netherlands-based company closed its U.S. development facility. Adler hasn't worked in IT since.

"I even tried making my resume look less experienced, and I never mentioned my age," said Adler, adding that she applied for everything from entry-level positions to those that matched her actual level of expertise. While job hunting, she got certified in J2EE by taking a Sun-sponsored course. Nothing came of that. "Most of the people in the class had their master's degrees and decades of experience, yet were finding it difficult to get any response from employers advertising for IT workers," said Adler. "It was like sending our resumes into a black hole."

Countering claims that the United States is facing a critical shortage of skilled technologists, former IT professionals like Lovelace and Adler point to depressed wages and their inability to score even preliminary interviews as evidence that the market is already flooded. Yet at the same time, technology companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, asserting that their ability to function at full capacity is being hampered by the lack of qualified technologists, are furiously pressing Congress to allow more temporary high-tech workers into the country by raising the cap on how many H-1B temporary foreign worker visas are issued. Indeed, on the first day in April 2007 that H-1B petitions could be filed, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) was overwhelmed with more than 150,000 petitions from employers hoping to snag some of the 65,000 general visas available for fiscal 2008.

In June, Google's VP of people operations Laszlo Bock pointed to those numbers as part of testimony meant to convince Congress that the H-1B cap should be raised. In a related blog post commenting on Bock's testimony, Pablo Chavez, Google's policy counsel, wrote that "over the last year alone, the artificially low cap on H-1B visas has prevented more than 70 Google candidates from receiving H-1B visas."

If we have a population/demographics problem, let's fix it by designing a legal immigration system that:
- gets us enough people
- encourages well-educated immigrants

Opening up our southern border was designed to destroy America. Our "representatives" who swore to uphold the Constitution should all be publicly hung for treason.

Our last hope before armed revolution becomes necessary, is Ron Paul.

Ouch! – you hit a nerve.

I live in the greater Washington DC metro area and have for the last 40 years (with occasional time off for good behavior). The massive influx of Korean/other oriental cultures was a minor irritant in that their driving was … umm … bad. But in general their legal immigration was a very positive influence on the community – and not just so I could get good take-out and dry cleaning. And their driving has improved.

BUT. The massive influx of illegal (or at least unemployed) Latinos is a disaster. Collectively, they: drag down the schools (habla English?), crap up the low-income communities with trash, pack massive numbers of individuals into houses in what used to be decent neighborhoods, loiter/congregate/look for work at every strip mall (no, I don’t love strip malls either), and litter like they are still in their third world sh*thole. And they have taken over the bottom rung on the driving ladder.

I don’t mean to sound like a bigoted jerk, but I honestly can’t even comprehend the run made at giving this bunch of no-skill outlaws amnesty. Immigration reform is WAY overdue, but letting this crew of unlawful landscapers stick around is just stupid. And yes, I cut my own lawn.

It sounds like most of you are from the west. I want to let everyone know it is very similar looking in south fla. Speaking spanish is a must in Miami! Most areas around Ft Lauderdale is scum. This pic could be surburban Ft Lauderdale or Miami or even Lake Worth Fl. Lake Worth is a real S#$% Hole. Every morn there is 100s of illegals everyday loitering on the sidewalk waiting to be picked up. IT IS DISGUSTING! All of the housing is Section 8. I can't wait to move but I don't know where to go! It sounds like it is everywhere where it is hot! It is soo obvious who are illegal because they stand on the sidewalk or walk around because they don't have DL. You should see them hanging outside home depot! If you have some serious money and can afford a 600,000 ++ house then you can isolate yourself in a pretentious gated community and forgot about the problem. Or live in Palm Beach Island.

It’s exciting, interesting, and delicious to live in culturally diverse America with Mexicans. "Looks like 21st century Bushvilles modeling after 1931 Hoovervilles."

This is a great line. We should start calling these abandoned, foreclosed neighborhoods "Bushvilles." Or, how about Greenspan Acres?

I live in Lee County, FL, close to Ft Myers. There are hundreds of houses sitting, padlocked, in the middle of acres of vacant lots. We drove past some last weekend. Mold is growing up the outside of the doors, since the owners are not running AC inside the house. This IS the gateway to the Everglades so it is very, very humid.

The bank will get these houses back, but they won't be able to sell them because of the mold and mildew inside - a total loss.

As for the illegal immigrants who used to live 20 to a house around here, they seem to be clearing out because there is no work. There is also a huge increase in armed robbery of banks and convenience stores.

Our Wal-Mercado is also an English-Free zone. I guess this is their target market, but why? It seems like a very stupid business decision to me, and I am a small business owner. I can just imagine their strategy sessions:

"Hmmmm. let's see how we can make the middle class American shopper really, really mad at us. I know, we won't speak their language! That will get them."

I don't know where you folks live but it must be some piss poor areas of town if you encounter so many Mexicans in your daily life. Personally aside from the armies of landscapers that show up every day in the neighborhhod, I almost never see illegals. The supermarkets I shop at are 90%+ white, with the othe 10% black/asian. The neighborhood schools are the same. I don't shop at Walmart.

Now granted if I drive 5 miles away I will hit an area of town that is all Mexican. I don't really care though. It might as well be 5000 miles away. They stay in their world, I stay in mine.

My suggestion to you all is quit that $12 an hour job, get an education and you too will be able to escape the infestation.

I'm an attorney who frequently represents doctors in medical malpractice suits. Frequently I will see cases where the illegal mother is suing her medicaid financed M.D. who delivered her anchor baby. Gotta love it! Break our laws to come here, taxpayers finance your medical care, then get millions of U.S. dinero from the stupid suckers, oops, I mean taxpayers, that allowed this to happen. This is just one small symptom of an overall self-destructive trend in this country. Do our politicians want this country to fail?

Maybe we need a few thousand H2B visas for agricultural workers, but we do not need 20 million uneducated illiterate third world peons and their gangbanger children. You saw what they did to their country. Why would they be any different here?

You idiots sound just like the people who bitched that New York City is turning into another Naples or Warsaw in 1901.

The world changes, America is an immigrant country, and within a generation, these immigrants will be assimilated too -- and everyone will look back on your statements of how they're "ruining the country" with the same derision directed towards your racist ancestors who bitched about "polaks, spics and dagos ruining our cities."

Anonymous said...

You idiots think these immigrants want to assimilate? Some have been here for decades and can't speak a word of English. They fly their garbage Mexican flags everywhere and want bilingual education. They claim that their land was stolen, but somehow they end up flooding into Chicago and NYC.

This is a nation of laws. It has never been a nation of America-hating illegal immigrants who refuse to assimilate. No other country in the world allows it's borders to be violated in such a manner. The greedy businesses and MexiNazis fascist groups got bitchslapped.

Anonymous said...

Only an ignorant racist would not want to allow every poor uneducated person in the world to come to America illegally.

We are a nation of illegal immigrants. In the 1920's we needed millions of uneducated laborers, so we have an obligation to take in millions of uneducated laborers from now on even if we don't need them or can't afford to educated their children. Besides, how can we stay technologically competitive with Japan, ChIndia and Europe if we don't import millions of illiterate people? They will save our Social Security system by picking lettuce and cabbage.

Anonymous said...

I was alarmed at first. But you are kidding, anonymous, right? We are not a country of illegal immigrants.

As for the jerk who said he doesn't see illegals because of his superior life style - I have him figured out too. He is in maximum security prison. That is the one sure way to isolate yourself from the illegal population.

This is really the fault of the government that will not enforce our laws, and the big businesses that take advantage of the illegals. (I own a small business and can't figure out for the life of me how they get away with it)

Impose a large fine and shutter the businesses for a week every time an illegal is discovered employed by the company and then they might finally decide to obey the law like the rest of us.

July 15 9:21 - It is readily apparent that you speak utterly without experience. Many if not most Mexican "immigrants" have no desire whatsoever to integrate or assimilate, nor to comply with our laws or contribute positively to our society. Only to take what they can, by hook or by crook, from the undeserving Americans. Move to a largely Mexican area of LA for a couple of years and then let's see if you come back with that same attitude.

Hell, just last week, I was listening to a talk radio show here in LA and a Mexican called in to call the host a racist for not supporting illegal immigration, but ended up admitting that he himself was a racist, and that Mexicans are consciously and actively coming in a horde, because there was an active cultural movement to take back over this area and drive the Americans out! They still think of CA as rightfully Mexico, I'm not making this up, a Mexican said this on the air, and have every intent to take it back, and the liberal Americans are too weak and stupid to see this for what it is. In another 20-30 years, LA will be virtually uninhabitable, and you can see it every day if you live here.

Hey pompous ass, here in Southern California you can't escape even with a career. I have a degree, make over 100k in IT and I still live amongst mostly blue collar Mexican families. I bought in an area pre-bubble, mostly mixed races back then. In the last 3 years the neighborhood has converted to mostly Mexican. I am of Mexican decent (born here) and the only ones I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH are the 'renter' Mexicans because most dont respect the property. On the otherhand my new Mexican neighbor, is a decent guy and he even has an AMERICAN FLAG hanging outside. Actually, that a bit overboard trying to blend in but since he is nice I forgive the obvious ass kissing.

"...the liberal Americans are too weak and stupid to see this for what it is. In another 20-30 years, LA will be virtually uninhabitable, and you can see it every day if you live here."

------------------

That's exactly right and that's the one thing I dislike the most about the Democraps. Osama, Shrillary, etc., seem only too ready to turn the country over to the illegal invaders.

One of the few things I like about the Congressional Repuglicans is that at least some of them opposed amnesty.

As for LA, it's virtually uninhabitable already, except for a few of the best suburban neighborhoods. In another 20-30 years, LA will be pretty much the same as TJ, and all of California will be at least as bad as LA is now. The state is projecting 60 million denizens by 2050, with 52% of them being Hispanics (mostly illegals and their gangbanging brood). I think the actual percentage will be higher than that, especially if illegal immigration continues at its current pace or (especially) if amnesty passes.

By the way, this ties in to the housing bubble. If you own in SoCal, you should sell now at whatever price will make the deal happen. In terms of real money (like gold), your SoCal home will never again be worth nearly as much as you could get for it now. After all, how much does real estate go for in TJ?
