FLASH: Arizona governor gives the finger to our corrupt US Congress, makes hiring an illegal, well, illegal!!!!!!

If our bought-and-paid for corrupt Congress won't do anything, well then the states are going to have to take the issue on themselves. They're the ones drowning in illegals and if they don't act and act now, they're f*cked, and they know it.

Bravo to Napolitano and the Arizona legislature

Now that hiring an illegal is illegal, and now that housing has completely melted down in Arizona, the illegals are either going to go back home, or they'll be heading to a state near you.

In other words, watch the other 49 states quickly follow Arizona's lead, since nobody wants a wave of jobless illegals showing up at their door.

Expressing frustration with the lack of a federal immigration law overhaul, Gov. Janet Napolitano of Arizona signed a bill yesterday providing what are thought to be the toughest state sanctions in the country against employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

Ms. Napolitano, a Democrat, called the bill flawed and suggested that the Arizona Legislature reconvene to repair problems with it, but she nevertheless moved forward “because Congress has failed miserably,” she wrote in a statement.

The bill requires employers to verify the legal status of their employees. If they fail to do so, they risk having their business licenses suspended. A second offense could result in the “business death penalty,” a permanent revocation of the state business license, effectively preventing a business from operating in the state.

We're dealing somewhat in uncharted territory right now – uncharted territory because of the inability of the Congress to act,” Napolitano said. “The states will take the lead, and Arizona will take the lead among the states.”

“Anyone worried about this bill ought to be worried about their hiring practices,” said Pearce, who called the measure “the toughest yet fairest employer-sanction law in the country.”

What is so difficult about understanding the word "illegal!" Holy Cow! "Illegal" means "Illegal!" They are NOT supposed to get jobs, health care, schooling, etc. They are Illegal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And NO, this is NOT their homeland! Dont these racists know Their true history?
This land originally belonged to the Native Americans, not the Puto Mexicans who invaded the land long ago and killed the natives. Now they are doing the invasion again! So get the hell out of my country, you damn ingrates and go screw up Mexico some more cause thats all you're good for!

La Raza type immigration groups have been threatening to shut down the U.S. economy if amnesty is not granted them. What delusion!
Short of major terrorism, they wouldn't be able to shut down southern California much less the nation. What we are going to see exposed is the lie perpetrated by our government's open borders advocates that the U.S. just can't survive without this labor. Yes, we should have a better guest worker program for agribusiness but that's about it.
Next thing we have to deal with are the damn U.S. multinationals that have lobbied Congress not to support Chinese labor reforms. Cheap Chinese labor put Mexicans out of work. God forbid Chinese workers be treated better than 18th and 19th century factory workers. Gotta please the shareholders.
And I'm a conservative! Viva la laissez faire.

Just for the record, Napolitano supported illegals in Arizona. She's done a flipflop. But who cares as long as its a flipflop in the right direction.

I hope they mean taco bell, mcdonalds, carls jr, burger king, kentucky fried chicken and all the rest of them because in California that is all that work at once was a place you sent your teenager to get their first job. There was a time when you went through the drive thru and you understood what the people were saying now you have to be trilingual. Spanish, tagalog and english. Luckily the middle eastern people only own all the liquor stores in the state. There are options. That is why employers are busting unions, because most union jobs are not filled with a bunch of mexicans but that is quickly changing. When I go to McDonalds the accents are so bad and the translation from English to Spanish misses so many words the orders are not what you said. Once I got so mad I said I am in America and the menu is in English and I gave my order to you in English. So You Give Me My Order in English. Who ever it was immediately started speaking a perfect version of Mexlish. They want us to learn Spanish so that we have to get along with them and they don't have to change for us. People are leaving California and going elsewhere because immigrants have brazenly taken over our fair state as well as every other nationality on earth. When my visitors come from other states not plagued with this problem, they are awed by the people they may have heard about but never seen. A true Californian can recognize practically every nationality on earth because you see one everyday.
When they brought the people over here from VietNam and set them up in the 70's and then the Cubans, and who ever else who claimed persecution in their home country started opening up the flood gates because they learned to play the system and started bring absolutely anyone they knew here legal or not. I know people on my federal job who are not citizens probably have expired green cards and have jobs that Americans should have. (USPS) They are ASIANS and can't speak a lick of ENGLISH. So how can they read it.
Until these problems are cut across the board and ALL of the issues are fairly resolved, Everyone who does not have sufficient paperwork from another country should get booted and not be allowed back family or not until they do what their own country requires.
One state sends it's problem somewhere else. That is bullshit. Mr. Swarzenegger will never do it, probably half his staff is Mexican and good portion of the states employees and yes they make sure they only hire thier own kind.
If you scream racism they use reverse psychology and scream you are a racist for hating mexicans but in everything they do they are seperatist and in order to prevent being called a racist most people just accept this, what they do and what can you do about it.
The government is not going to outlaw hiring them because they would have to fire themselves. Who do you think mows the white house lawn.

I'm defintly pro-immigration, but I firmly belive this is a move in right direction. We have to get to be honest: illegal is illegal. And then we can start talking how to allow illegals to become legal residents and how to enable legal immigration.

The problem is that legal immigration nearly halted while illegal immigration is flourishing. Not right.

Az Gov Nappylotaxo was backed into a corner on this one. The citizen referendum which would have been more punitive was her other choice if she had vetoed this bill.

That referendum is still in play and could go to the ballot in 2008. If she fails to enforce this law, that one will be harder to ignore.

This was the lesser of two evils for her.

If you keep score on the times she did veto an illegal immigration bill and didn't, its like 24 to 1.

She really had no choice but sign it.

I see absolutely no good this governor has done for the state of Arizona. Signing this bill does not change my mind about her in any way because employer sanctions would have come on the referendum anyway.

She just couldn't squirm her way out of it this time and our representatives are getting much more crafty in putting together bills she cant go against.

So in the end, Janet did not gain any new support or earn any respect from the man on the street that is aware of her open borders politics.

The people who support her are the ones she has to worry about now because she was forced to kick them all in the face by signing this bill. The illegal criminal border crossers are pissed off as hell at the governor, and I say Wooo Hooo.

I am looking forward to a century without illegal immigrants. They can go home for all I care. I clean my own house, mow my own lawn and take care of my own children. We could teach chimps to pick our fruits and vegetables and we wouldn't have to deal with the gangs, drunk drivers and massive burden on our social services.

Charles Trujillo, a professor at the University of New Mexico. He predicts a new, sovereign Hispanic nation within this century encompassing much of the American southwest and part of northern Mexico. States have the right to secede under our original Articles of Confederation, he contends, and this will be accomplished by the electoral pressure of future majority Hispanic populations in these states.

The Hispanic student activist group known as MECHa, an acronym for Movimento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (Chicano Student Movement of Aztlán) has spent the last three decades indoctrinating Latino students on U.S. campuses.

It claims that California, Arizona, Mexico, Texas and southern Colorado were stolen and should be returned to their rightful owners, the people of Mexico, under the name "Nation of Aztlán." Aztlán is the mythical place where the Aztecs are said to have originated.

Few caught the significance of the words of then-Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo before the National Council of La Raza in Chicago on July 27,1997: "I have proudly affirmed that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders."

Current President Vicente Fox repeated this line during a 2001 visit to the U.S., when he called for open borders and endorsed Mexico's new dual citizenship law.

A June 2002 Zogby poll found that the majority of Mexican citizens agree with him and hold the view that, since the Southwest U.S. really belongs to Mexico, they do not need permission to enter. The poll found that 58% of Mexicans agreed with the statement, "The territory of the United States' Southwest rightfully belongs to Mexico."

Perhaps it was that audience the billboards were designed to reach.

This is the dumbest topic which keeps resurfacing on this blog.

If the U.S. hopes to have any chance to meet the social security and medicare costs of retiring baby boomers in the future, it needs to grow it's workforce a lot.

But that's assuming a financial meltdown doesn't materialize first. There's a little bit of a CDO problem lurking; $300 trillion worth or more. Bear Stearns tried to sell just a small fraction and got bids of 30 cents on the dollar. No one is going to give a hoot about illegals if the $1 is devalued in a bailout and the million dollar bill becomes the new George Washington note. Oh wait, that's too logical; instead it will be blame illegals for everything.

Anonymous said...

Wow, will you look at that, a politician who understands that increasing law enforcement to reduce the demand for illegals is the answer to illegal immigration, not standing at the border thumping one's chest.

Too bad most of the idiots here don't understand the concept of supply and demand.

The solution is cutting back on the entitlements.

How about LEGAL immigration, you know, people who want to come and assimilate, people who actually value education, people who are doctors/engineers/professionals in their homeland and who'll come here and take whatever job they can so their kids can be raised and educated in America? There are millions of these people in the world. Wouldn't they be better than the people who flood over the border?

I suppose you have not been to an emergency room lately? Have you seen all the hospitals that have closed down in CA? Wonder why?

Come to think of it, TB is now common in many hospitals. Wonder where that came from? I guess its an emergency if one white guy gets it and is on a plane to Europe. Hey, Brittany gets more press than the illegal alien slave trade and they break the law every second of the day.

Maybe this why my income taxes just twenty something % here in US while it was about 50% in Canada

1. The rightful owners of the Southwest US are not Aztec or Mayan descendents. Those two tribes lived in Central Mexico and Central America.

2. Twenty million uneducated illiterate illegal immigrants are not going to save social security or medicare. They will draw more services than they contribute. How can a $10/hr day laborer with 5 children be a net positive for this country?

3. We will continue to round up and deport illegal immigrants. If they stay here they will have to live in the shadows like cockroaches. More and more employers will be turned in and face fines and eventually jail time. If you don't like it then f*ck off.

4. Social services the illegal immigrants use up include free medical care, which has shut down nearly every private hospital along the entire Southern border. Other resources they use are schools and their anchor babies qualify for welfare assistance.

5. If the SW USA belongs to them (which it doesn't) then why are they moving to Oregon, Chicago, NYC, Jersey, Florida, Virginia, Carolinas, Tennessee and every other state that the MECHAFASCISTS claim?

6. Illegal immigrants make up 5% of the population, yet 27% of the federal prison population is illegal immigrants. The 18th St gang has 40,000 members of which 90% are illegal immigrants or their children. The MS-13 gang has 100,000 members and nearly 100% are illegal immigrants or their children. Congress has refused to target these thugs and sanctuary cities continue to protect them even though they are known violent offenders who have repeatedly been deported only to walk across the borders a week later.

I agree with this in theory, but ignoring the law and our borders isn't the way to solve the problem.

How many immigrants do we need to meet the SS and Medicare requirements? Would we be better served by allowing 50,000,000 highly educated Chinese to legally immigrate or 50,000,000 day laborers?

Anyone who rationalizes this as simply a way to solve our aging population problem isn't seeing the bigger picture. The true purpose of ignoring our borders is some are consciously trying to destroy our national soveriegnty.

Congratualtions on melding into society. That's really all of those against illegal immigration wants; people like you who come over legally meld in, and continue witht eh origianl leagacy of 'your tired, your poor, yadda yadda'.

Let's take a moment to observe mexican culture. Thankfully the Catholic Church has/had such a firm grip and such a history of having to keep the peones uneducated that it proliferates to this day. A truly big fear would be the onslaught of a progressive race of intruders like Chinese, Vietnamese, and Koreans. Be thankfull that Navajos are so misguided and that that comfort means nothing to them. If we had given a reservation to the blacks after the war, or to Japanese during the interment, can you imagine what they would have progreesed to? They would oowned the whole country in just a couple of generations. At least the Catholic church has such a stangle hold that it'll take a few more generation to breed that stupidity out of Hispanics, and the American Indians do not blend in to society well, even after 200 years. Progressive races would of made this all a lot harder....

Time to wake up and face reality. The only way to "save" Social Security and Medicare is to raise the age at which benefits can be collected and let the Baby Boomers fend for themselves for once. Many are fat and stupid and probably won't live long enough to collect.

Just an interesting addendum: I am an American citizen who was working in Italy for a period of about a year as a 'grey employee' -- not fully legal, but not entirely illegal (at my employer's request, for tax reasons). As a quasi-'clandestina', I could not legally own or register a car, purchase property, and all business was conducted in Italian, which I was forced to rapidly learn.

After a little less than a year, I went through the process to immigrate legally -- partly because I had left the old job and was unable to secure a new, mainstream one without 'papers'. And, honestly, partly because I felt it was the right thing to do.

When my Italian spouse emigrated with me to the U.S., we spent over $4000 and three years to get him his green card. At no time was he ever illegal, but even so it took him about a year to find employment in his field (technology).

It's very hard for me to feel sorry for Latin Americans who treat our laws with impunity, and while it is heartbreaking to hear stories of families who have decade-old roots here and who are unable to legalize, they made that choice. If we allow them to do it, why not all of the Chinese, Africans and other Asians who would love to 'sneak across the border' and start a new life?

Respect for the laws must be absolute, for immigrants and employers both. An efficient, fair immigration system would be nice, too. $4000 is quite the princely sum for the privilege of bringing one's spouse to your home country -- and I didn't even involve lawyers!
