Today was Iran Hostage Crisis Day #13 (now let the bombs fly!)

Aw, what a sweetheart, Hitler Jr. is giving the hostages back to England as a "gift".

Well, I hope the Brits have a gift for him and his mullah cult leaders too. What bastards. Let the bombing commence (yet alas, it won't, as the West are now (thanks to the Iraq debacle) toothless little poodles against Iran). Oh, love the poster?

TEHRAN, Iran - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran would free the 15 detained British sailors and marines Wednesday as a "gift" to the British people.

He said the captives, who were seized while on patrol in the northern Persian Gulf on March 23, would be taken to Tehran airport at the end of the news conference that he was addressing.
However, an Iranian official said the captive British sailors and marines will be handed over to the British Embassy in Tehran.

Prime Minister Tony Blair's office says it welcomes the news.

"On the occasion of the birthday of the great prophet (Muhammad) ... and for the occasion of the passing of Christ, I say the Islamic Republic government and the Iranian people — with all powers and legal right to put the soldiers on trial — forgave those 15," Ahmadinejad said, referring to the Muslim prophet's birthday on March 30 and the Easter season.

"This pardon is a gift to the British people," he said.

What a mess. I guess all the bellicose talk will have to over some other 'topic' of the day. Hey, any bets on Scooter Libby? Like if he gets any time at all. Also, what ever happened to Freedom Fries? I think Tom Delay was behind that one or was it The Duke-ster (he got 8 years -ouch!).

Kieth:

The poster is historically inaccurate- America has no tools as it has shipped them all to China. Similarly, Americans no longer know how to make and/or use tools.

Keith don't be such a dummy drama queen. Don't you know that this 'hostage crisis' (LOL) is a retaliation for the US's failed attempt at kidnapping 2 high ranking Iranian official from the Iranian consul in northern Iraq? One of them would be the iranian equivalent to the head of the CIA. Instead they captured and were holding hostage 5 low ranking iranian diplomats. So, Keith, in your great wisdom, you should know that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

P.S. I know you're trying to keep the traffic up on your site with your histrionics, but you really are getting queenier and more melodramatic by the day.

Keith, Thanks for you updates I come here before I go to the Drudgereport.

Thank you Iran - you are good people and we welcome you to the US. I look forward to the day that Islam is the offical religion in the USA.

There is another side in this story:

"As negotiations over the 15 captured Brits continue an Iranian diplomat, who had been kidnapped in Iraq a couple of months ago, is suddenly freed and returned to his embassy in Baghdad on Tuesday...."

The Iraqi Government has also been timidly working to free five other Iranians who were SEIZED BY U.S. FORCES on January 11th. The Iranians were arrested in Arbil in Northern Iraq by helicopter-born American troops who stormed an Iranian liaison office, and made off with five officers of the Iraqi Revolutionary Guard, along with documents and computers....

But, according to Andrew Cockburn, the Americans were actually after much bigger game: two top Iranian officials, who they had thought would be there. Mohammed Jafari, the powerful deputy head of the Iranian National Security Council, and General Minojahar Frouzanda, the CHIEF of intelligence of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard....

As Cockburn points out, “The attempt by the US to seize the two high-ranking Iranian security officers openly meeting with Iraqi leaders is somewhat as if Iran had tried to kidnap the heads of the CIA and MI6 while they were on an official visit to a country neighboring Iran, such as Pakistan or Afghanistan.”

This was a classic tit-for-tat and Iranians won this one hands down. So maybe Keith, you should check your facts before raving about Hitler Jr...

Wow. The Iranians seem to have more of an Easter spirit than most Westerners nowadays, who don't even take off Good Friday or Easter Monday any more.

Good on them. The NeoCONs must be going apesh!t right now that they don't have an excuse to bomb Iran anymore, at least until next month.

Keith, if we had as much class as the Iranians, we'd be out of Iraq by now since, really, the "mission is accomplished." All we wanted to do was get Hussein but then we kept rampaging.

Didn't the Brits see the Iranians coming and they couldn't get out of there? What were they doing so close to the border anyways? This is a dumb situation which should've never happened. Of course, then again maybe it was deliberate to try to make something happen.

Bush is unpopular in the U.S. Amenajad is unpopular in Iran. They need each other to force their popularity up. Hopefully the people vote both out (recall!) and we can all move on.

Keith,
you're way way off on this one...is the Murdoch spin affecting you in the UK?

Adji outwits and makes colonial Westerners look like the jack-asses they are at today's press conference.

If only they had stripped all the hostages naked and got them in a big pile, then took photographs of themselves leering over them in the background wearing blue marigolds. Or maybe an Iranian woman could have led one of the hostages around on a dog leash.

But then that would not be the behaviour of a civilised people, would it?

This is were we disagree.
the Iraq debacle is also because we have become toothless little poodles,
its not the source of the problem its yet another symptom.

We have lost Integrity in the name of political correctness.
An example would be an -Anon post above- ‘every action has an equal and opposite reaction’
Do we think Britain will bring justice to Iran for taking its boys Hostage?
Nope.. there will not be a re-action.

The UN has yet not agreed on the definition of ‘terrorist’

The bellicose angry Islamo Fascist have got the free world on real short leash.

Keith,

stop watching 'faux noise'. It affects your balance. you are coming across as a Joe lieberman 'turncoat', that is you put Israeli interest ahead of US interest by the idea of putting US soldiers in harms way with your blather about meaningless threats from Iran...

If not for you, do it for your loved ones, afterall what threat does Iran have against England or the US; I mean what are they going to attack us on; magic carpets? ROTFLMAO, please in the future stick to the topic on hand, the debacle of the upcoming bush built scheitt sandwich and its consequences to the housing mkts and the lending mkts too, and the people.

And remember, the saudi nationals were the perps on 9-11, not the Iraqis and not the Iranians. You lose credibilty siding with the likes of Bush and ole 'turncoat joe'.

Keith,

You're brainwashed, admit it.
British are behind most of the war conflicts for the last couple centuries on this planet, not Iran.

Hey, did ya’ll notice the cheap crappy Iranian custom tailored suits the Brits are wearing.
Makes me wonder what happened to the desert camo they where wearing when they got kidnapped.
Hmmmmm.
I can just see next weeks headlines ‘Man blows himself up inside British base in Basra apparently wearing British issue uniform’.
What about the British Rafts, oh .. they have already been deflated pack and shipped in a fishing boat to Gaza.
What about the British Rifles, oh.. they have arrived in Lebanon close to a week ago, or do you think they would keep the British rifles and send the crappy Russian made one to Lebanon.

Why don't you join up then and help regime change Iran? C'mon tough guy what are you waiting for?

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad just announced that the ‘Hostage taking’ never happened and will assign the ‘Hostage taking’ minister to conduct a review and get to the bottom of this European hoax.
Iran will also sponsor a ‘Hostage taking’ art expo, winner receives British GPS.

I find it humorous that the only people now posting are the conspiricy theorists and Pro-Iran band-wagoners...I guess all the sane people got sick of trying to explain reality to you crazies...

Adji outwits and makes colonial Westerners look like the jack-asses they are at today's press conference.

Not only that, Blair has shown the power of diplomacy, i.e. the idea that perhaps CIVILIZED leaders can work details out behind closed doors without resorting to the Bush "my way or the highway" rhetoric (which AIN'T just rhetoric: Bush has shown a willingness to use our military might at ANY provocation).

Yeah, Blair basically told Bush to butt out of this one, and guess what? It all worked out well, despite the tiny man's ranting (and I'm not sure which leader has the greater 'small man' complex: oru countries, or theirs)....

Keith, save the histrionics and hyperbole: you're killing the credibility of this site as it pertains to the housing bubble, which is the topic of concern to most. As it stands, you're increasingly coming off as a tin-hat wearing nut who can't stay on topic.

2) iran is NOT iraq

3) I'm not for a war - I'm for bombing their nuke capabilities to smithereens - no troops, no invasion, no war

4) it won't happen. we're a toothless poodle now. bow wow wow

5) hitler jr. is the most powerful man in the world today

Some of you have shown your genius by pointing out that Iranians are Persian and not Arabs.
We are not in a war with a particular people, we are defending ourselves from an idea that promotes people blowing their own lives up sending their little children out in front of themselves instead of sending their children to school.
The rulers spending all of their peoples money on insanely huge castles covered in gold cruising the world in Billion dollar Yachts, while brutalizing their peoples and funding huge PR campaigns to keep the good life going.

In this war there is no distinction between different races or nationalities, about 1000 oil rich dictators spend trillions of dollars each year to maintain this chaos.
Unfortunately as long as we continue our dependents on Fossil fuel non of this will change.

Let's review:

1) An Iranian ship off the coast of Iran is boarded by armed British, and rather than take possesion of the ship, they are captured by the Iranians.

2) An Iranian diplomat is released by terrorists after severval weeks of being missing in Iraq.

3) The captured British are released the next day.

Questions:

1) What is the relationship of the terrorists and the British?

2) What the difference between the British and pirates? Recall that the original stereotype prirate was a Brit dressed to look French, as he plundered the seas for the crown.

Keith,

I like your blog but you gotta' let this Iran thing go away. Bombing certain targets in Iran will just stoke new fires in the Middle East. Most us know that there is no military solution there. In the meanwhile, the markets would ratchet the price of oil up to $$$ based on the uncertainty factor. Really, we should just pack our bags and leave and concentrate our efforts (and $$$) with our own domestic problems such as housing bubbles and illegal immigration and to get off the oil addiction.
