A time capsule of the greatest financial mania in the history of mankind, told in real-time by regular folks and patriots. May future generations better understand the madness of crowds, and how power and money corrupt.

Revolution anyone?
I spent 6 years in the USN. This is a clear case of officers fucking an enlisted man. The only really remarkable aspect of this particular event is that officers fucked a corpse.
Generally, officers get a lot more pleasure fucking living, enlisted personnel.
Queue the deluded Republican true believers saying Clinton did it too in 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. rant on...
So whats new?
1984 was based in fact
I am in! Check out my blog.
Yeah, revolution would be nice. Too bad people are brainwashed cattle stumbling into the slaughterhouse.
There won't be a revolution until there are no more lattes at Starbucks, TV dinners at Wal-Mart or heating fuel at the meter. Just look at the history of revolutions.
Ask a junkie what his biggest problem is and he'll say: "I don't got enough herion".
i think his brother would agree if he could...maybe it would have been better to take that multi million dollar offer with the cardinals and just think.....he would be alive with his children and his wife and playing football and enjoying life.....
this is what happens when we as americans swallow the lies that spew out daily from this government...this is just a small example of what is really going on...no telling how many actual casualties we have had in this war already....one would hope that some of these people in uniform will take a long hard look at this case and realize......they are being used..and they are cannon foddder for the corporations and jim cramer who both think that the only thing in life is profits and soldiers are just stooges to be used for the purpose of pumping up bottom lines, never mind the fact that they die and/or get wounded badly, or whatever.....the only thing that matters is how much money they are making. the soldier is just some little inconvenience and they will not let them get in the way of profits.....corporate greed is the only thing that is important now to this government and to its willing accomplices......God help us....
What we're seeing here is a relentless pattern of lies, a willingness to spin, to obscufate, to mislead, etc, coming from the Top on Down. Lying has been mainstreamed, institutionalized, and worse yet, accepted as standard operating procedure, business as normal. Core values (service before self, integrity, excellence in all we do) are just hollow words.
The leadership has become corrupt to the core, and the evidence is demoralizing to our rank-and-file troops. They're being asked to give their life for the sake of the United State of Halliburton!
What we have is a complete failure of leadership, a complete loss of confidence in our supposed moral authorities. Can anyone say amen to the concept of impeachment?
Bush and his cronies have GOT to go.
Why didn't they have the guts and common sense to tell the truth from the start? The coverup unraveling is much worse.
By the way, anyone else notice the media reports the number dead and not how many additionally were injured?
Why do our congressmen, voters, citizens, mothers, fathers, bubble bloggers and now even our soldiers HateAmerica(tm)?
It is so plain and simple-we are screwed. It's on to Africa we go next because you see how well it's going in Iraq. The rebels there are pissed. Hell, stay tuned for mayhem as gasoline becmes more expensive than beer.
"Question everything your government is telling you. Everything."
Everything? Even this:
On Sept. 11, 2001, nineteen Muslim flight school-dropouts hijacked four commercial airliners, slipped through America's $40-billion defense system and crashed the planes into three of their four intended targets. A lunatic directed this terrorist attack from cave in Afghanistan.
things like this are why I read HP. Keep up the good work.
"Why do our congressmen, voters, citizens, mothers, fathers, bubble bloggers and now even our soldiers HateAmerica(tm)?"
I think it's pretty obvious there's a growing pool of people who love America and hate this lousy lying corrupt administration
Why people aren't massed in DC in front of the White House every day is beyond me. People don't seem to want to mobilize, and there doesn't appear to be a leader.
I hope that changes.
Just when are people going to reach a tipping point with this administration where they no longer view them as trustworthy.
We're not there yet. I think people are so hungry for decisive leadership that they actually take comfort from the Bush Administration's willingness to not cave on any issue.
These people are brave. Really brave.
I tell my Dad all the time to not give up on the sensibilities of average Americans. They may be fooled or misled or manipulated for a while, but once their trust or sense of fairness is violated there's no going back.
"Revolution anyone?"
i say its long overdue. home depot has some very good chinese rope for sale that will be needed....
"There won't be a revolution until there are no more lattes at Starbucks, TV dinners at Wal-Mart or heating fuel at the meter. Just look at the history of revolutions."
i agree. americans are fat , lazy and spoiled. all we think about is ourselves. heck we even think we are living in a great economy and jobs are plentiful and money is flowing. we are a free people without a worry in the world because we have good Christian man in the white house. The dow hit 13,000 this morning and my world is great.........oh i must say, the wakeup that is coming for these deluded individuals will be a major problem for most of them.
Why people aren't massed in DC in front of the White House every day is beyond me. People don't seem to want to mobilize, and there doesn't appear to be a leader.

It will, just as soon as the draft is reinstated.
Why people aren't massed in DC in front of the White House...
why should we, we have all the starbucks wwe can get, we have the biggest freaking cars in the world, we live in the biggest homes ever, we have supermarkets stocked to the ceiling with corn fructose labeled as food, our stadiums and ball parks rival the romans, every day there is nothing but good news on tv, hamburger at mcdonalds is $0.99...
need i go on?
the more shit we are fed, the easier it is to control us, dont you think the elite have figured this out over the centuries, they would never dare utter "let them eat cake".
Question everything...?
It would go as far as questioning Bush's Iran's nuke program...but hey, we need more war.
Hey, just this morning on "Today," Laura Bush got away with saying "No one suffers more than George...and I do" about our boys and girls in Iraq.
NO ONE: Not even limbless, brain-damaged vets. Not even the grieving families of killed and maimed soldiers. Not even millions of homeless or dead Iraqis whose country has been transformed into slightly radioactive pile of sand!
The inreviewer, Ann Curry, moved on without batting an eye...
It will, just as soon as the draft is reinstated.
Yup, if Bush plans to continue his open-ended, no-timeline-for -withdrawal type operations in Iraq and elsewhere, then we need a compulsory draft to support it.
This means everyone, with no excuses for children of the rich and priviledged getting off for attending school, serving in the Reserves (similar to how Bush's family pulled strings to get him in), etc. Service across the board, reaching all income groups.
Of course, that'll NEVER happen: no one wants to actually support Bush's war efforts with THEIR children's lives, just everyone else's kids. It's not just NIMBY ("not in my backyard"), but NWMK ("not with my kids"). Heck, it'll screw up the plans we had to spend Summer with our son Biff on the Hamptons, etc.
These same people are the NIMBY types who are willing to stiff some other bag-holder for their failed home flop, when they couldn't unload their specuvestor home last year. Same idea.
Welcome to the Bush era, with his unofficial mantra, "I'm getting mine, so screw the rest of you".
PS does everyone REALLY want to impeach Bush? Talk about unintened consequences: that would put Cheney in the oval office, and does anyone REALLY want THAT?

Just heard the Shawn Hannity radio show a few minutes ago. Clinton came up. But they were blaming someone named Reed for all the Nation's woes. Not to worry thought. Hannity thinks Bush is a wonderful leader and everything is under control.

Shawn Hannity said on the radio today that we have a great economy. Why, unemployment is only 4.5%.
Of course, Hannity is a rightwing Orwellian mouthpiece.
There are MANY "key pieces" of HARD CORE EVIDENCE that scientifcally prove that the 9/11 US Attacks were planned by a GOP CONNECTED GROUP of the Bush/Cheney administration.
To cover-up the 9/11 truth, is a serious crime. "We the people" have enough proof to hang our own elected leaders - who have turned their backs to the false 9/11 commission investigation report that murdered 3,000 people and started a FALSE FEAR campaign on all of America, and the WORLD.
If we had a revolution now though, all of Bush's new National Guard troops would be in Iraq fighting for Cheney's and Bush's oil and military stocks.
Nothing like "selfish dry drunks" running our country.
Sad indeed, very sad. Just tragic.
Some good points on this thread.
Veronica Lodge is right: what's different this time, comparing our misadventure in Vietnam with our misadventure in Iraq, is the absence of a draft. It took the calamity of the Vietnam war to convince the country club set to finally accept Walter Lippmann's axiom that you can't fight a colonial war with a proscripted army.
Anon 2:05 says we have stadiums just like the Romans had in their bread and circuses era. What he didn't mention is that these stadiums and ballparks are almost always erected with tax dollars, to benefit some local sports team that is supposed to be a private enterprise. Why do people vote to tax themselves to subsidize an industry that pays million dollar salaries? If the team owner can afford the payroll, he can afford to build a stadium. Woe is our society.

i hope you are right. here in the southwest, the sleeping bear is the illegal alien situation....it is coming to a head pretty fast. it may be the spark that starts this thing rolling. it is real shame, we have gotten to this point. but it is the direct result of years of neglect by generation after generation of americans.....too many would rather look the other way, instead of being good citizens.....citizenship requires contant vigilence...too many do not want to have to worry about anything.......so they let the next generation worry about it........why should i worry? this won't happen during my lifetime and so it goes .......so now it is time to pay the bill.....the bill is coming due now......in this generation.......the cost will be high......and it will not be nice......out country has gone down hill for a very long time......the graft and corruption in our government is nothing more than a mirror image of us as a people.......you get mad at the representatives and senators and the president and vp? guess what? they are just like us......we are them......until we as a people return to the time when we held high personal values in all that we do, there will be no change......crooks will continue doing what they do best...stealing.....and americans will do what they do best........nothing.........
