HousingPanic Stupid Question of the Day

Who should we dedicate the upcoming week to?

* Iran / North Korea / Israel / Hezbollah / Hamas / Syria
* The Late Great Housing Bubble
* Ben Bernanke
* World War III
* The NASDAQ Meltdown
* No-down, no-doc, interest-only, teaser rate loans
* Unemployed realtors, appraisers, builders and mortgage bankers
* Lance Bass & Britney Spears
* Condoflip.com
* Bob Toll & David Lereah

Or something/someone else?

Israel - hands down.
They "won" most of the headlines this week.

Opportunists, those a$$holes that are using the housing bubble to advance unrelated agendas. Global warmists, out of the Mid-East now, raise taxes, increase social welfare, yadda yadda.

Can we stay out of politics and special interests? For a change...

Robert, are you for or against minimum wage increase? I would rather leave it to the market to decide...

How about the Next Big Thing, the managed economy? The problem is too big folks, and this new crop of pols and bureaucrats will never allow market forces and economics to correct the imbalances.

As legends in their own minds, they are smart enough and have the proper "tools" to manage any situation for the good of us all. Watch as these Wunderkinder pass laws that tell us how to work, spend our money, and save.

The first step in the U.S. will be the Democrat takeover of Congress in '06, followed by their guy (or gal) in the White house in '08. For those who though the Bush administration was bad, you ain't seen nothin'.

I think the stock market crash will rule the week

I am really curious as to the extent and fallout of the creative financing in the last 5 years.

With the demise of AnotherF**kedBorrower.com I am not getting any "feet on the ground" info.

I am an arm chair economist who feels that this factor will weight highly as to the extent of the RE price corrections in the future.

The way I see it in time order of for sale inventory increases:

- Builders with projects "in-stream"

- Flippers who see the top turning over

- Homeowners making the ARM/Interest only bet to afford there home

I am generally against any minimum wage above a floor, say $4-5/per hour. That I am willing to tolerate even that is a long explanation but it boils down to preventing some externalities of a fully casual employment environment. What really gets my shorts in a bunch is the so called "Living Wage Ordinance." That's pure evil by any metric.

Other anon: The freakin' stock market is full on irrational this summer. Sure it will "crash" (aka correct long and hard) but picking the week is impossible.

No doubt. Also, earnings will come in a penny under estimates and the stock gets punished with a drop of $20+. Anyway, maybe things will be clearer on Aug 8...

Got to go with Israel. The terrorists will make huge political inroads if it looks as though Israel has been driven out of the settlements that they gave so many lives for last week. I'm betting on a huge assault from the air and artillary that will take the land back to it's original undeveloped state. And maybe that's their overall stradagy. A buffer zone with nowhere to hide.

Bush is the agressor. He
created the false metaphor "War on Terror"

Unfortunately for him we only pay tribute to leaders that focused on Peace rather than War.

JFK
MLK
Ghandi

History shows we hate agressors

Stalin
Saddam Hussein
Hitler

and now good ole George W. Bush.

I agree that stock market crash will be big news shortly.

Also of course Israelis and Americans continuing to murder or support the murdering of civillians in the middle east.

The axis of evil, according to everyone else in the world - U.S., U.K. and Israel

Does it not concern americans that the whole world is against this "axis". Do you wonder why? Do you care? Do you think that in the 1930's Germans really didn't believe that they were somehow superior and that their government was also protecting them from all the evils around the world that had to be quashed? The situation is so strikingly familiar, can you please just ponder this for even a moment?

That's what the global warmists like to claim. Truth is there is very little doubt as to ongoing global climate change. A lot of that change appears to be generally warmer. What isn't decided is ANTHROPOGENIC global (warming) climate change.

See? The warmists are ready to desperately cling to any datum that might possibly be twist to their agendas.

robert cote,

There is a whole lot more human caused environmental destruction going on than just global warming. Do you think I should be able to pollute however much I want because I have a congressman in my pocket? Is economics more important than ecology to you?

That isn't under debate either, in reality. The direct infrared emissions from the upper atmosphere---the origin of the greenhouse effect---have been measured for decades now by airplanes and satellites. They are increasing, and increasing exactly in the way corresponding to the change in atmospheric chemistry, as measured in situ, due to humans.

It is hence physically impossible for the climate to not change.

I would like you all to consider this: It is a Stretch, but a Dose of Reality.

GLOBAL JEHAID

Warning: DO not read this unless you agree that The Movement in the Extreme Muslim Middle East is an eventual goal of Cleansing the world of Infidels (us) and creating a Religious World Government. If you do not believe this, go do some research, then come back and read my pretend scenario.

Imagine the Muslims now run the world. President Bush has been thrown out of office by all of his haters and enemies world wide and opened up a free hand to the Terror Movement. Also, removed were all of the Leaders of the "free world". Russia and China are in with the Oil Rich Middle East, and The UK, USA, Canada etc. are under control of Hezbolla, Al Quedia, and the lot. Israel has been totally destroyed, to the great delight of many Middle East Religious leaders.

The only religious freedom is praying to Allah, with the "call to pray", which means drop to your knees where you stand, is now blasted by a massive sound system through out every city in America, thrice daily,
and you drop to your knees or you are put to death.

Women may not drive, wear make up or work, by law.

Men are the sole breadwinners, by law.

All male children over age 14 are put into Armed service, by law.

All people answer absolutely, without question, to a Muslim religious leader or are driven under ground to pray, talk, even read. (V for Vendetta looks like a walk in the park.)

No one is allowed to vote.

You may not purchase Real Estate unless you are part of the religious power. The Government owns 50% of all of your businesses, which must donate to and adhere to the Muslim Religious doctrines.

The new leader of the Global Economy, and all of the Former Free World is based in Germany with the Fed Bank, which is very established in the Middle East, and is aligned with the New World Leaders, Saudi, Iran, Dubai, Pakistan, Syria, Russia, China, North Korea, Libya, etc.

Mass deaths are the norm in every city in the US, as there are many Americans who will not convert to the Governments Religion. Many are still killed by suicide bombers of the enemies of the different Muslim Sects, which have been at war for hundreds of years and have brought their martyr bombers to the cities of the USA. The stateside suicide bombers are a daily happening in cafes, school buses, and malls. Their
efforts are to kill the new religious leaders, just like their fathers the martyrs before them. The reason? They do not practice the same Muslim beliefs as their Muslim beliefs are, so they must die.

Mexico has closed their borders to ANY Americans trying to immigrate to Mexico, because there are not enough resources in Mexico to absorb the massive wave of Americans trying to sneak into our Southern neighbor’s borders.

You Get the Picture. Be careful what you wish for.

It is very Posh and in Vogue to Bash Bush, but I can tell you, IMO it is a mild form of Treason in that it is an "atta boy" for the terror side.

I AM A PASSIFIST, TREE HUGGER! Do you want someone like me in office or a Military Leader that has a father that is friends with all of these oil guys?????

They will never stop killing each other in the Middle East. We can only stop them from coming to Europe, UK and the Americas.

The Tyranny Doctrine

by Danielle Pletka and Michael Rubin
Los Angeles Times
May 26, 2006

Is it possible that the administration is questioning the wisdom of promoting democracy as a long-term solution to U.S. national security woes? "Realists" suggest that the president has finally woken up and smelled the coffee. They say democracy gave us an Islamist government in Iraq and Hamas in Palestine. It could give us the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Heaven knows what it would spawn in China or Libya. Better the devil you know.

PS, Global Warming is a red herring, IMO.

>>> War is not a video game...
>>> The best strategic defense is one not used....

-- I agree with both points. Part of a military strategy of how we use the B2's, ICMB's, Tridents, etc., is that we have a good plan that is known to our adversaries. If we just rely on a MAD theory in which the enemy thinks "they won't really do that, they would be the biggest murders in history", but had realistic staged responses to ensure US security and survival, they would they think "they just might do it".

It's like owning a gun. A lot of people should not own one since when faced with a burgler, will not use it, and it ends up being turned on them. But if you are trained, and prepared, it shows in your eyes to the adversary that you are really prepared to use it. Who would you back down from, typical homeowner nerviously waving a gun around saying "I will shoot", or a trained one holding the sights on you in a weaver hold barking orders at you such as Stop!, Leave!

No further explanation required.
