It never made sense why the FBI and Bush Administration didn't enforce the laws of the land, and let financial fraud run rampant these past few years.

Well, now it does.

Bush and Mueller had 1/3 of the FBI criminal investigators leave their posts, and never replaced them.

And nobody was left minding the store.

They
took their eye off the ball, they didn't enforce the basic laws of America, they didn't hire the necessary agents, and they destroyed America as financial terrorists planted bombs all over the land.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. IT'S TIME FOR AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION INTO THESE MATTERS, AND FOR PROPER STAFFING OF THE FBI.

HOUSINGPANIC DEMANDS THAT ATTORNEY GENERAL MICHAEL MUKASEY APPOINT A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR, AND THAT HARRY REID AND NANCY PELOSI GREENLIGHT AN INDEPENDENT COMMISSION TO INVESTIGATE THE GREAT HOUSING AND FINANCIAL FRAUD, AND FOR THE FBI TO BE QUICKLY AND URGENTLY RESTAFFED AND REASSIGNED IN ORDER TO DO THE WORK AND GO AFTER THE GUILTY.

Monkeys folks. We truly are run by untrustworthy and corrupt monkeys. We've been writing about the fraud going on for three years now, calling for the FBI, SEC, Justice Department and local authorities to crack down on the mortgage fraud and financial crimes. And nothing has been done. The guilty roam free. And trillions and trillions and trillions and trillions have now been lost and confidence has been shot.

There should be outrage. There should at a minimum be high-profile arrests. And there should be justice.

F.B.I. Struggles to Handle Financial Fraud Cases

WASHINGTON — The Federal Bureau of Investigation is struggling to find enough agents and resources to investigate criminal wrongdoing tied to the country’s economic crisis, according to current and former bureau officials.

The bureau slashed its criminal investigative work force to expand its national security role after the Sept. 11 attacks, shifting more than 1,800 agents, or nearly one-third of all agents in criminal programs, to terrorism and intelligence duties. Current and former officials say the cutbacks have left the bureau seriously exposed in investigating areas like white-collar crime, which has taken on urgent importance in recent weeks because of the nation’s economic woes.

The pressure on the F.B.I. has recently increased with the disclosure of criminal investigations into some of the largest players in the financial collapse, including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The F.B.I. is planning to double the number of agents working financial crimes by reassigning several hundred agents amid a mood of national alarm. But some people inside and out of the Justice Department wonder where the agents will come from and whether they will be enough.

So depleted are the ranks of the F.B.I.’s white-collar investigators that executives in the private sector say they have had difficulty attracting the bureau’s attention in cases involving possible frauds of millions of dollars.

Since 2004, F.B.I. officials have warned that mortgage fraud posed a looming threat, and the bureau has repeatedly asked the Bush administration for more money to replenish the ranks of agents handling nonterrorism investigations, according to records and interviews. But each year, the requests have been denied, with no new agents approved for financial crimes, as policy makers focused on counterterrorism.

“We only had a finite number of white-collar crime agents available to address the threat that mortgage fraud posed,” said Joseph Ford, who retired from the F.B.I. this year and once served as its chief financial officer.

Keith,

You failed to highlight the most important sentence:

But each year, the requests have been denied, with no new agents approved for financial crimes, as policy makers focused on counterterrorism.

The Bush administration refused to give the FBI the additional manpower to handle the mortgage fraud cases.

If Bush didn't want to enforce the Constitution, then why bother enforcing federal law either? It's been pretty clear that he doesn't give a bleep about anyone or anything other than those he gets "campaign contributions" from. Then again, most of the rest of Washington from both parties is no different in this regard; Nancy Pelosi would be just as big of a screw-up if she were in charge, with perhaps different special interest getting the proceeds.

Obama's promise of change will prove empty if most of the Congress he's a part of returns to work with him as president. The fact that the bailout bill didn't provide for a nonpartisan committee to investigate the root causes for this financial mess and suggest reforms to reduce the likelihood of its recurrence tells me Congress doesn't even want to enforce its own laws. President Bush just happens to be the screw-up with access to the most power right now.

All of Washington doesn't make sense any more; many would say it never did in the first place. Let's just hope that come January 21 we'll have some new blood in the White House and some new blood (or at least new attitudes) in Congress. Until that happens, you'll have better luck getting a brick wall to move towards reform than getting Washington to do so.

NWO can't have a super power, they had to kill the country. Dude, the official story is the conspiracy.

WHY?

Because the F**King Democrats have been involved in it forever and in charge for the last two years!

This is an engineered financial collapse. It simply can not be attributed to "incompetence".

The Hegelian Dialectic:

Problem.
Reaction.
Solution.

They posed the problem. The public reacts with fear. They provide the "solution".

The "solution" is more power to the Fed and Treasury. The consolidation of financial power. Now we're hearing talk of the new financial order and trilateral world currencies.

Every incompetent action leads us further toward world government and the consolidation of power in the hands of the few.

"Proper" staffing of the FBI. Who does that frighten more, the "criminal" or the average citizen?

Bush and his cronies didn't enforce any law that hindered dubious financial activity back in late 2001 onward because they needed a way to get us out of recession.

By standing aside and letting things go the way they did, the Bush administration brought the U.S. out of that 2001-2 recession using the housing boom.

No one was crying foul when everyone was flipping houses and investing in stock during this period, heck we were all too busy looking at the extra digits on our statements.

So now it's 2008 and alot of people are FUBAR and pissed off.

Well I'm sure Bush and the boys aren't too happy either, can't be too great being compared to white collar criminals.

We had a good 5 year run this time around. Gotta take the good with the bad.

But, but, but... this can't be right... the Republican party is the party of law and order...you know: "to serve and protect"

What's even more criminal is how the wall st. firms that we just bailed out are planning to give out $70 billion in year-end bonuses.

Yes a criminal investigation in a new Obama administration your hero and all the left over Clinton crowd trying to uncover the crime. Lets see how you report that so please don't close down just yet I can't wait to read your attacks on this one and yes I did tip you from my pocket and still waiting for a thank you but hey your busy traveling and writing about Palin so I understand.

But they're still hot-on-the-trail of D. B. Cooper after all these years.

The guy got away with 200K and they've spent tens of millions trying to solve the case.

Been chasing D.B. For DECADES!

At least he was on their Top Ten list, unlike Bin Laden...

Mueller was appointed FBI Director just prior to 9/ll and has effectively MISDIRECTED the agency for all these fraud-filled years.

Dereliction of duty?

Bush owes him a Medal of Freedom.

Mueller covered the neoCON's asses BIG TIME.

Travesty of justice.

Treason!

Oh please, like the Dems in congress aren't to blame too.

blinded justice,

Bin Laden has been on the top ten most wanted list for almost a decade (he was added in 1999). Do you just make shit up for fun, or are you retarded?

The FBI won't have a great rush to it. The starting salary is too low for most to see it as a great job. The starting salary with benefits is somewhere in the $50k range. That's not great considering you have to have a college degree and absolutely clean background. You must have NEVER smoked dope. That limits recruits to a very small segment. Why would those individuals select the FBI?

Ok, so here in the US its all Bush's fault.

But what is Europes excuse, they where the anti-Bush, and their Housing bubble went way crazier then ours.

hmmmm

Usama Bin Laden's 'wanted poster' also notes, "In addition, Bin Laden is a suspect in other terrorist attacks throughout the world", but does not specifically mention the 9/11 attacks, the U.S.S. Cole bombing, or anything else.

The FBI hasn't specifically listed 9/11 on Bin Laden's wanted poster, because they don't have enough evidence to link him to 9/11, or don't think he's behind the attacks.

"...WHY?...Democrats...like the Dems in congress are[n't] to blame too..."

Granted. But when you imply by omission that the GOP had nothing to do with it...

Community Reinvestment Act; check.

Repeal of Glass-Steagull, Commodities Futures Modernization Act...?

Closing of the Enron loophole ~~ weeks of $147 oil?

All we need to hear from this is: Bush cut funding to finance his stupid war. This has been the underlying problems with this entire mess....Bush.

The man was and is a disgrace, not only to our Country but the entire world as a whole. If that is not enough incentive to vote democratic this election, maybe just look at the SEC, FDIC, FTC, FBI, CIA, FEMA, DHS, shoot, pick ANY agency that Bush and his cronies have had influence over the last 8 years, and the problem is obvious.

The dems may not be the saviors, but god, compared to the eight years of stupid that we have had to endure, I would rather literally write in my neighbor on the ballot than elect ANYONE even resembling a neocon to any post other than maybe garbage removal. And they would probably screw that up too.

Listen folks. Bin Laden won exactly in the way he wanted to. Remember back in 2001 when he attacked the towers, he proclaimed he would bring down the "great satan" from within through their financial pillars. What has happened is EXACTLY what he wanted. He simply used our greed and corruption, and shrub as a tool to get what he wanted.

This is a disgrace. Bush has allowed him to win and what is even more irritating is that not only has he accomplished his goal through our own greed, he has been largely funded by OUR energy consumption, while draining us through the debt required to "defeat him". Please, thanks to shrub and the neo-tards, he must be sitting in a cave somewhere smirking. I cannot tell you how much that pisses me off.

It is time to get a leader(s) in our Government that operates on a COMPLETELY different set of fundamental thinking. This ridiculus "trickle down" policy is NOT working and has not worked for years.

Just about EVERY agency, not just the FBI has been cut and dumbed down thanks to the "defense and strength" party. Those values unfortunately exited the Republican party once Reagan left office. Beginning with the first Bush, democrats became more Republican than the Republicans. When I hear Dems talking about balancing budgets, and neo-tards exolting the virtues of increased spending - something is seriously wrong here.

BTW Keith, I am sure you had to have a smile on your face having heard on Sunday that Colon Powell endorsed Obama. And no all you neo-tards, it is not because he is black. It is for the same reason that most of the THINKING population of the world - not just the US - endorses Obama - Obama is looked up to by not only our citizens, but COUNTRIES in the World. We MUST improve our reputation abroad if we are to become a prosperous nation again. That is not accomplished through continuing poorly executed wars, letting infrastructure at home rot out while deficit spending in hopeless causes, and rewarding rich bankers while the rest of the majority of the population is told to "eat cake". Marie Antuenette politics is over. The Axis of evil is defeating us, while we continue to reward them. Who owns the oil...

For those of you on the fence, please don't take a party line, know that I am a Republican, but that I have studied a lot of what has occured the last eight years within the neo-tard administration, and come to my conclusions through many different sets of research. There is just NO excuse for what has happened here. And to continue the same policies, and expect a different result is the height of stupidity.

Groooooaaannn... Talk about conspiracy theory!

Did the mysterious cave dwelling terrorist Bin Laden hold a gun to Alan Greenspan's head and tell him to drop the interest rates?

Did Bin Laden invent the dodgy massively leveraged financial instruments that Wall Street has been using to blow the biggest financial bubble in history?

Is Angelo Mozillo a secret Al Qaeda agent??!!

Get a f*cking brain you moron!

This is the kind of crap that you hear on Fox News and the Huckabee program. Catering to the very dumbest element of American society.

If you do some research and read some books you'll find out that Bin Laden is a CIA asset that was cultivated during the Afghan War to fight the Russkies. He is a member of the elite Bin Laden family whose closest ties to America are the elite Bush family. The elite established the CIA and have been running the top positions from day one.

The 9/11 terrorists were trained on US military bases. That's a matter of public record. What does that tell you, dumbass?

Learn about history. Not the rubbish that charlatan, flim flam man Mike Huckabee tells you.

NOW can we have summary trials for all registered Republicans and convict them of treason?

THEN it will be legal to hang them in public in all the town commons. Just imagine it. Republicans all fired from their jobs. Their property confiscated. Summary trials and Republicans put into camps. And millions of hangman nooses swinging from all the trees in America. What a beatiful site!!

It's so little to ask for compared to all the damage Republicans have done to the country.

Anon said "Because the F**King Democrats have been involved in it forever and in charge for the last two years!"

Look. Please take the time to understand how congress works before you bark out a whole cloth lie like the one above.

Anyone who knows how conress works is able to understand that you can't just simply "blame" democrats and be done with it. As if those poor, poor, defenseless republicans just couldn't muster enough votes to stave off the anti-american democrats.

Figure out how congress "works" before you shoot your mouth off.

Please open your mind enough to realize that you are as close to a fascist that one can get without donning a brown shirt and swastika. The big problem here is you and all your kind don't understand that is what you are doing. You continue to believe you are true patriots and delude yourself, no you enjoy the delusion. What's more you harbor such hatred in your heart that you can hardly contain it.

That's why you and the likes of you will take to the streets in Nov. with torches and pitchforks and automatic weapons when your poor old, washed up terrorist candidate -- that's right I said terrorist -- get's his ass handed to him. Do you think the people that were bombed, those innocent civilians that McCain bombed from his plane (you know the one he managed not to wreck) would think of him otherwise?

If it makes your day better to continue to believe in such black and white, all or nothing, with-us against-us mentality then so be it. You're probably not one to understand the nature of things. Clearly you are probably one who somehow sits there all smug, dumb and proud because you can bark like a trained dog:

"It's the democrats fault", It's all their fault. If only the didn't have that mega majority in congress. We'd all be safe from terrorists, we'd have house prices that continue to increase every year."

You are incompetent and sadly an idiot.

No, he's got it right. Bin Laden said they'd use our own modern technology to take down Western Civilzation a notch or two, and that's EXACTLY what they did. They hijacked American aircraft to destroy the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.

Hmmm, ever wonder what the significance of the World Trade Center as being their target? Well, duh: it's right there in the name! They felt that trade was at the root of why the West invaded their holiest places, and they were right: I think it's pretty clear by now that Bush didn't invade Iraq to liberate anything aside from oil. Is that even a point of dispute nowadays?

There's something very bad-ass about someone telling you they're going to kick your ass, describe how they're going to do it, and then doing it! Doesn't mean I like it (hell, I doubt Bin Laden is even alive, or was EVER alive. If so, then how hard can it be to find a six-foot tall bearded guy in Afghanistan, surrounded by all the heavily-armed troops?)

Like someone pointed out, Bin Laden was involved in CIA ops against the Soviet Union, so has a pretty good idea of our tactics. I think he serves more use alive and on the lam, as the ultimate bad guy to justify Bush's continued ideological war (the war on terror). After all, how do you just the hunt for Bin Laden in the Middle East if you already FOUND Bin Laden?

BTW, when Bush stood in front of that sign proclaiming "Mission Accomplished!", many people mistakenly thought this was a message to the troops. No way, Wrong-o.

It was actually a message to his cronies @ Halliburton, as well as his Daddie's friends at the Carlyle Group that seven years of contracts were in the bag!

HARRY REID AND NANCY PELOSI GREENLIGHT AN INDEPENDENT COMMISSION TO INVESTIGATE THE GREAT HOUSING AND FINANCIAL FRAUD

You have to be in a deep dream to think that these two have any ability to question anything.
Neither one of them can decide if they are hungry or if they have to take a shit.
MS.Pelosi's first 'act' as speaker of the house was to 'take impeachment off the table'.
Reid is anoother lightweight, good for not much; can't even fill a suit very well.
Vengeance and Justice will have to await the appearance of someone with balls.
