Skeptical, but not cynical.

I used to be much more optimistic.

But after 8 years of president shit for brains, sir "easy al" greenspan and Faux Noise, I am not quite as confident about this country's future as I used to be.

Anonymous said...

Pragmatic optimist.

Anonymous said...

Realist... mix of both.

Translation of the German: "The Optimist errs just as much as the Pessimist, but has much more fun in the meantime."

Optimist, and a skeptic

I think CEO's and their bought & paid for Libertarian mouthpieces are out to screw the US taxpayers.

So I guess that makes me a pessimist.

It's our Mickey Mouse culture. A collective of brainwashed lemmings when it comes to pessimism vs optimism. You can never be considered a 'realist' with your occasional resistence to the status quo because you will be written off as a closet pessimist.

Whenever you question the blind optimist, you are labeled a 'doubting Thomas' or a 'negative Nancy' or a 'Chicken Little'. People are drawn to the blind optimist because it is comforting to hear someone with confidence in a positive pie in the sky fantasy world. It's much harder to deal with the real world issues and accept that not everything is 100% rosie.

You should be questioning everything around you to a reasonable degree. There is nothing wrong with optimism so long as there is sufficient logical reason (i.e you are not being an idiot).

The blind optimists don't stop and ask questions - they will lead you right off the cliff chasing their butterflies.

I'm a misanthrope; whether I think things are going to get better or worse is inversely related to the number and influence of people.

All you republicans out there better say "optimist". You're always so cheerful that American Capitalism will save the day and end tooth decay. You've been cheerleading for the end of regulation, the lowering of taxes and the starving of government for almost 5 decades and by Gosh, you're getting what you asked for!

Now, enjoy the fruits of your ignorance and start looking around for a way to save your miserable asses.

Meanwhile, I'll enjoy watching your dull, fat progeny face a bleak, savage future!

xoxo,

pessimists always refer to themselves as realists. that said, i'm a realist...

Anonymous said...

That optimist is about to fall off a cliff, is he not? I don't speak German.

Anonymous said...

I can't answer that without getting defensive.

Anonymous said...

A cynical optimist.

Anonymous said...

Realist. Thing is, sometimes reality is unpleasant and negative. So realists get the label of p"essimist" slapped on them, by the Polly Anna cheerleader, perma-optimists.

Anonymous said...

A realist, which puts me in both camps depending on the circumstances.

Hey Bitterrrenter, when will your hero John Edwards recognize his illegitimate son from his butt-ugly mistress, Rielle Hunter, so he can't stop making secret rendezvous in luxury hotels in Beverly Hills, while his wife battles cancer at home?

Funny how the corrupt MSM doesn't want to touch this story. If these ultraliberal politicians can't give a damn about their wife dying of cancer at home, do you really think that they give a f*ck about you? Oh yeah Edwards, your presidential endorsement really means something. I tell ya, nothing but heartless crooks!

Neither optimist nor pessimist. I'm paranoid. As Bill Gates said, "Only the paranoid survives."

Anonymous said...

I'm sort of like 'Walter' in The Big Lebowski...so you decide.

bitter idiot...the obama base represented in one person perfectly.

I am generally optimistic that I can pick up any hot chick at the bar, but pessimistic that any of them will put out once I take them to my dark one bedroom basement apartment below my grandmother's house.

Let it go folks, the Hussein base at work. Welcome to the new third world country, called the USA:

Former Newark Mayor Gets 27-Month Sentence

NEWARK — A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced former Mayor Sharpe James of Newark to 27 months in prison rather than the 20 years prosecutors had sought for failing to disclose a romantic relationship with a woman whom he helped to get a lucrative deal on city-owned land.

United States District Judge William Martini also ordered Mr. James, 72, to pay a $100,000 fine.

Mr. James’s former mistress, Tamika Riley, was sentenced to 15 months in prison and ordered to pay $27,000 in restitution to the city.

Judge Martini ordered the two to report to prison on Sept. 15, though attorneys for both said their they planned to appeal the conviction.

Mr. James was convicted in April on fraud and corruption charges for illegally steering nine parcels of city-owned land to Ms. Riley between 2001 and 2005. She paid a total of $46,000 for the lots and resold them — often just weeks later — for a total of $665,000 without making any improvements to them. In addition to the fraud and corruption charges, Ms. Riley, 39, was found guilty of tax evasion and of lying about her income to collect housing subsidies.

For her part, the 39-year-old Ms. Riley — a publicist in Jersey City who at one time ran a chic boutique in Newark — said that it was not her intention to “take or defraud” the city, and she also apologized to Mary Sharpe, the wife of the former mayor.

Yeah, the Libertarian Party has been ruling the roost for WAY TOO LONG!

It's time to elect a third party like the Democrats or Republicans and kick the Libertarians out of their long and undeserved monopoly on political power in this country.

(Idiot.)

I wear a tinfoil hat and rose-colored glasses. Does that help?

I'll be an optimist when we buy in 2014-15.

I'm an optimist - I think things will ultimately work out for me. The rest of humanity, I'm not so sure about.

Pessimist

I feel I am systematically exploited in this system. The nest you can hope for is a little lube.

I see things how they are.

The glass is not half emtpy...the glass is not half full.

There are 4 ounces in the 8 ounce glass...Period, that's it.

But I do know we are fucked. Logically, there is no easy way out of this. But most people are only willing to get out of it IF there is an easy way. If not, they would rather risk paying the piper than be inconvenienced.

Optimist. But concerned about the financial future of the US. Makes me a pessimist in the eyes of my friends but is my realistic assessment.

It was rather stupid of Edwards. He should have had his rendezvous with that other woman in the same hotel that McSame is staying at. No reporters there to bother anyone.

I believe in the law of averages. When things have been much better than they should have been considering the effort being put into it remaining the same over time, the law of averages means that things will be worse than they should be assuming a constant effort.

All you have to do is look at the history of the world for eons and you will determine that the good and the bad happen .So, if your smart enough to know when either is taking place you can take advantage of it,or be protective of yourself .

A wise person said to me one time that people usually don't do anything until they are backed into a corner .I have found that to be true for most part .

Also , how you handle bad cycles is important as in trying to learn from them . People who are in La La Land usually are darn lucky if they don't get their asses handed to them in this forgiving Society we have . But that might be part of the problem that people have a excuse for their mistakes and they want to be bailed out and will not accept punishment . It all started with a guy named Dr. Spark who said if you punish your little darlings
it might damage their ego . That
approach damaged their egos alright ,
they live in a world that knows no boundaries .

The marketers that promoted the housing bubble and all the faulty lending were so caught up in greed that they didn't see how destructive a National Housing Mania of people overpaying would be . Is that being positive or is that being a person who can't see cause and effect .

So , I would like to say that I'm a great believer in cause and effect , no matter if that ends up being good or bad .

All things usually that happen are good for some people and bad for others . I think we can all agree that if the Moon hit Earth tomorrow
it would be bad for everyone ,and some events are like that .But my point is that in such a big world ,
the forces of the acts of many people will no doubt have a influence on other peoples lives ,no matter how positive you might be .
