HousingPANIC Quote of the Day

"Now, if I found out that there were high officials who knowingly, consciously broke existing laws, engaged in coverups of those crimes with knowledge forefront, then I think a basic principle of our Constitution is nobody is above the law"

- Sen. Barack Obama, setting up the possibility of criminal charges against Dick Cheney and George W. Bush for their various crimes, as quoted April 2008.

Let me get this straight, they can even organize their own convention but want to run the entire USA? Oh man, this country is doomed when sheeple are still being allowed to vote:

NYT -- Obama faces a daunting challenge as he prepares to claim the nomination in August: a Democratic convention effort marred by costly setbacks and embarrassing delays.

With the Denver convention less than two months away, problems range from the serious — upwardly spiraling costs on key contracts still being negotiated — to the more mundane, like the reluctance of local caterers to participate because of stringent rules on what delegates will be eating, down to the color of the food. At last count, plans to renovate the inside of the Pepsi Center for the Democrats are $6 million over budget, which may force convention planners to scale back on their original design or increase their fund-raising goals.

The convention is being organized by the Democratic National Committee, which is run by Howard Dean, with his chief of staff, the Rev. Leah D. Daughtry, leading the effort.

Folks, prepare the wallet because the ultraliberals are coming for it. They're already blowing the budget of their own convention! Guess who's going to pay for it?

Yeah, because Obama has been very vocal about senators Dodd and Conrad and their bribery by Angelo Mozilo. /sarcasm

BO should look in the mirror. He will probably see Rzko's and his picture.

I certainly hope Bush and Cheney and their corpo-government will be sued for the suspension of the Constitution and crimes against humanity.

What marxists always do...

Criminalize policy differences.

That way there can be no debate, no other way to even think differently.

You're high; never lay a glove on him.

We'll be in such chaos in a few years that punishing the waterboy will be the least of our concerns.

I'm guessing that once Obama takes office and finds the job entails more than reading his speech writer's pretty words off of a teleprompter, he'll forget all about an Inquisition of the previous adminstration. After all he must leave office after four years as well. And given the economic disaster that's coming, Obama will the most reviled president in U.S. history.

Unless, of course, he's planning to cancel the 2012 election and declare himself Allotoyah.

He is just blowing smoke, he won't push for any investigation of the current administration. The Dem's went right along with everything that has gone down in the last 8 years. They are just as guilty of any crimes that took place.

Obama has a lot to learn. The super rich in America are above the law.

"knowingly, consciously broke existing laws,"
this is the hole Obama is creating for these theiving murderers. since when is ignorance an excuse.
These are the leaders of a nation, they have no such luxury of "not knowing" or " not consciously" as a defense.
Its time to call Obama on his bullshit.

Ask Barack to look in the mirror. He will find many faces of a corrupt criminal with a long windy trail from Illinois.

When time this there, Obama will 're-evaluate' his position in this respect.

He's a politician, why trust this guy?

Coming from NJ, the land of the crooked pols. I would put Obama in Washington/Lincoln/FDR territory if he prosecutes Bush&Co (including Bush&Cheney)for the amount of treasonous war profiteering and general corruption, dmage and general mayhem created to our way of life and damage to our constitution.

Anonymous said...

Oh, really Senator? Like your puppet master, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley???

Anonymous said...

On a scale of 1 to 10, how treasonous would it be for Obama to increase the deficit for political purposes at the exact moment that the baby boomers start retiring?

Anonymous said...

going to be tough to prove. They weren't able to get slick willy for lying under oath, even when they had DNA evidence.

Bush will issue blanket pardons to Cheney and the rest of his crew and claim executive privilege for himself if Obama is elected. Even with no prosecutions possible, we still might have years of hearings exposing the Bush administration's record of corruption and incompetence. The American people will be appalled at what they learn.

Mr. Obama may come to eat those vary words himself - since (like many of the high office officials) he also received preferencial treatment for his house mortgage.

The very people who needed the help the *least*, are the ones our government (who was put there to serve the interests of *all* citizens) is bailing out first.

If anything, this catastrophe in housing has exposed our rotten governing system for what it really is - a shield for only the very wealthy.

Whoever is our next president, will become the fall-guy for the mess the Bush Co. clan has made of this country.

This comment would also apply, one would hope, with equal force to all of the dealings that Obama has had with Rezko and others....

Obama is a different kind of politician.

He has the audacity to hope.... That you'll forget he's a politician and, therefore, overlook the slime he's knee-deep in.

Rezko. Failed housing projects in Chicago funded with taxpayer dollars being torndown as inhabitable.

Other than that, he's a great guy.

Is that quote correct? It should be "knowledge aforethought" instead of "knowledge forefront." The former is a phrase that you learn in the first year of law school (or from Perry Mason reruns). The latter is a malaprop.

I can't imagine that Mr. Harvard Law Review would make such a ridiculous faux pas. Perhaps it was intentional and meant as a joke? Perhaps he was misquoted?

He han't be that dumb. Can he?

They won't go after Bush or Cheney.

That would set up a precedent that would make them scared to leave office. Pretty soon you have a banana republic where no one leaves office voluntarily because they are afraid of what would happen to them.

You wouldn't want that would you?

And what the hell does this have to do with housing? If I want to read useless leftist claptrap like this I'll go to the Daily Kos or Huffington Post. But I don't so I won't.

Bush, Cheney, Obama, McCain, it does not matter one damn bit because this nation is going down the gutter along with its obese, diabetic, fat-ass, belly-gut citizens. The only presidential candidate that can save this country is the Good-Old-Man-With-The-White-Beard himself which he is not here or there and probably does not want the position anyway.
Until the Americano get rid of their chicken-barn Escalade, running-down-the-cow Ford F250, 3000 square feet McMansion, and live their life in harmony with nature, lead their actions with a good, honest heart, there is just no freaking hope for this land of the Ancient Snapper Turtle at all !.

--
So, is the Americano toasted yet ? And if not, when do you people, Joe and Jane of the SHRUB's Ass-Head Clan, think the Americano will be toasted ? Will they be toasted lightly as a marshmellow or juicely as a snapper turtle skewered on a stick from head to ass all sizzling nicely, fat popping, juices dripping over a bed of red hot charcoal fire ?
--

The Americano nation and its pitiful occupants's fate has entered a dark age, an ominous age filled with peril and uncertainty. An age of unimaginable stench emanating from the fart of the Housing Bubble. Who do you have to blame but yourself when you bough a $700K house on a $40K annual salary as a low-life telemarketer, a StarBuck cashier, a convenient store sales associate, a Best Buy sale clerk, a 30K-Millionaire ? Add in a fat-ass, lazy, couch potatoes, hoity-toity wify, a couple of redneck, foul breath, rotten-teeth kids and you now have a perfect storm for the crashing of not only the Americano economy but the Americano family value as well.

Thus, with all due respect, I will ask you these $69,000 Americano-going-down-the-toilet-dollar-currency questions:

IS THE AMERICANO roasted nicely yet like a grilled snapper turtle ?

WILL THE AMERICANO ever find a shred of WMD in Iraq, the little Islamic nation that the Americano president DUBYA SHRUB and his side-kick PENIS SHOOTER had decided to invade few years ago ?

WILL THE AMERICANO take on the role of the world leader: Free the Tibet Monk"ey" and Invade Red China ?

WHAT IS INSIDE the tummy of most Americano ? Greedy Worm and Sh*ts mostly, perhaps ?

WILL the famous Snapper Turtle outlive the obese, pigeon-brain, pompous, ass-head Americano Australopithecus ?

WHEN WILL THE AMERICANO "Gone With The Wind" ?

WTF? 3000 sq ft is now a McMansion? White boy pleeze. House I grew up in was about 3500 sq ft and that was the smallest house on the block. McMansion is 5 or 6K sq ft. But I guess you all wouldn't know about that living in your 450 sq ft apartments.

Washington Post - The conservative public-interest group Judicial Watch today filed ethics complaints alleging that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, broke the rules when he accepted a discounted deal on a 2005 mortgage loan, as first reported last week by The Post.

"Americans ought to be suspicious when a United States Senator such as Barack Obama, obtains a sweetheart mortgage deal," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement. "We have serious concerns that Senator Obama's mortgage may have violated the law and Senate ethics rules." The group filed separate complaints with the Federal Election Commission and the U.S. Senate Ethics Committee.

The Post's Joe Stephens reported that in 2005, Obama, then a freshman Democratic senator, bought a $1.65 million restored Georgian mansion in an upscale Chicago neighborhood. To finance the purchase, he secured the loan, for $1.32 million, which was locked in at an interest rate of 5.625 percent on the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, below the average for such loans at the time in Chicago.

The loan was unusually large, known in banker lingo as a "super super jumbo." Compared to the average rate in Chicago at the time for a jumbo mortgage, Obama's deal could have saved him more than $300 per month, Stephens reported.

The article quoted an Obama campaign spokesman as saying Obama received a discount from the base rate at the bank, not because he was a senator, but because he had an offer from a competing bank and he brought other business to the institution.

"It appears that due to his position as a United States Senator, Barack Obama received improper special treatment from Northern Trust resulting in an illicit 'gift' which has a value of almost $125,000 in interest savings,"
