The one thing President Bush could have done but didn't is to get the U.S. off foreing oil.

The attack on the WTC should have been a wake up call that buying foreign oil means we are funding a bunch of loonie tunes to make us suffer to the tune of billions of dollars annually.

A little vision could have gone a long way.

The big question is whether the next President will be able to do (reduce foreign oil imports) what the last one's couldn't.

So either we have just too much political back scratching to care and we are going down as a nation or someone must be able to rally the public and convince Americans to take a stand.

It seems the market forces are now doing what the President and the special interest groups couldn't do.

So either we wake up to realities or we continue to sloth our way into being a second rate country with every American citizen up to their eyeballs in debt.

Where is the leadership? Where is the vision?

What's truly disheartening is that it was obvious to anyone not asleep what kind of person George W. Bush was long before he ran for president. The fact that some of those who voted for him have now seen that particular light doesn't give me much confidence that they will be wiser voters in the future. Why should we have any confidence that fools will not be fooled again? Besides, Diebold has the combination to the electronic voting safe and Scalia says "get over it" to our dreams of Democracy.

Wrong approach. Better yet, let's tell our children the truth. Bush was elected twice by a bunch of right wing religious nuts who didn't give a damn about voting against their own economic interests as long as they didn't have a bunch of gays marrying each other. Maybe as these idiots are struggling (like a lot of people) to make ends meet today, they can ask John Hagee, Rod Parsley, or any of the other hate monger preachers they've been sending their money to for help. I'm sure in the spirit of Jesus, they would be more than happy to open up their pocketbooks for their flock. LOL. LOL. LOL.

He's only a failure by the average American people's standards, Keith.

To the elites, Wall Street and the war profiteers he is a HUGE SUCCESS!

To the Neoconservatives who describe their goals for "full spectrum dominance" of the globe he has also been a big success!

Read their own words here:

Project for a New American Century

You make the common mistake of thinking that Washington works for the American people.

THEY DON'T DOPES!!

They have a whole raft of lobbyists to answer to before they answer to the American people. Let me break it down in a rough order of priority for you:

AIPAC & Israel
Oil Industry
Wall Street & International Banks
Military Industrial Complex
Big Pharma

By the way Keith who did you vote for (or would you have voted for if you weren't out of the country) during the last two presidential elections. Are you sure you weren't a Bush man until you realized what a F@#k up he was. I am sure you weren't a Kerry or Gore kind of guy. Are you saying you didn't contribute to this walking catastrophe getting into office? This is a valid question but I will be surprised if you answer it. It seems to me that this country is run by far more than one politician. Always making Bush the scapegoat is denying the responsibility of congress, the judiciary, and the people who voted for him. If Bush managed, as a supposedly complete idiot, to finagle all these other parties into doing his agenda then who is the greater incompetent -- him or those poor innocent niave babies he led. Fact is we are reaping the consequences of decades of bad policy. Bush just happens to be in charge when the pyramid of cards is collapsing. Make no mistake about it I think he failed in many areas but the simplicity of Bush bashing is getting a little old. If others can right the ship then prove it with action not rhetoric. I'll believe it when I see it.

If Bush is so bad then why don't you call a spade a spade and say that the nation is filled with a majority of idiots and there is no real hope for our countries future.

I am seriously beginning to doubt whether the problems can be righted by a politician. They are much more entwined in the moral fiber of the people and we are sadly lacking in character.

It makes no Difference, left or right. Ive come to dislike ALL politicians. Clinton was the president when Greenspan spawned the housing bubble, and repealed the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933. Bush and Clinton should both be held responsible for this morass.
How abut Senators Christopher Dodd from Connecticut and chairman of the Banking Committee, and Kent Conrad from North Dakota, getting sweetheart deals from countrywide? I think they grease each others hands on both sides of the aisle. Why do we not hear of any of the candidates, not just speaking about, but ACTING on what is ailing the economy and putting a stop to it? Could it be that some of our beloved politicians, Democrat or Republican, are also investors and speculators in many of the same sectors of the economy (Housing, banking etc..) that are on the hook? Could it be that they are looking to have the taxpayers, you and I, bail these same investments (or contributors) out of the hot water and thus keep their pockets well lined? If it was only one political party that was ripping the country off, the other party would be shouting it from the mountaintops!

" saw a bumber sticker a while ago that said ANNOY A LIBERAL: WORK HARD AND ENJOY LIFE

Really - Hmmm, you must be a CEO. Because I can tell you coming from a working class town, that I see plenty of people working plenty hard everyday, not complaining and trying to keep smiling, and the reward they are getting is their home foreclosed, their 401K being gutted, and their job being outsourced. Meanwhile all you trickle down people think everything is ok because "you are just fine".

It's all perspective. If you are one of the "just fine" it is just lazy people wanting a handout that are poor, if you are one of the poor and hard working you may have a different take.

I have a challenge for you - go to any city, and hold a meeting in a middle or lower working class suburb, tell everyone in the room that they don't work hard enough and that is why they are not ok - see how long you last before the angry mob takes you out back and beats you with a rubber hose....

Or better yet - get out of your corner office. Then put all your savings (less about $1000 dollars, which still puts you at an advantage to a lot of folks) in a blind trust that you cannot access for about 2 years. Then go out and get a job (good luck with that) in a factory, retail store, call center, auto manufacturer (foreign or domestic) and then start living - while smiling of course. In 2 years, I wonder if your opinion will be the same.

I think you may need a reality check.

Anonymous said...

"Bush drives leftists crazy. Which is why I love the guy. My favorite thing about him is when he says nu-cular since I know that drives the socialists the craziest."

Bush drives anyone with a functioning brain stem crazy. I think that they could have put a monkey in the Whitehouse and it would have been more productive. The problem is vision - the guy has none. After 9/11 instead of intelligently sizing up the enemy and then striking to win, he acted like a scorned 12 year old boy that just had his castle stepped on by the big boys at recess. Lets go in guns a blazin with no regard as to how to actually DEFEAT the people who did this or even bother to find out WHO ACTUALLY DID IT.

Now the idiot is not even interested in FINDING Osama Bin Laden. It is one thing to be partisan and only tow the party line, Democrat or Republican, but when a "leader" puts our country's youth in harms way to settle a score with no plan and little regard for the consequences to the families, the economy or the future - THAT is a bipartisan problem.

GOP is dead, period. And that is not because of "the liberals" that is through HIS OWN ACTIONS. He has single handedly made sure that the GOP will not be in a power position for at least a decade if not longer. If you want to have conservatives in power again, make a point to bring forth a leader that is intelligent, admirable, and worth electing. The liberals don't even have to try and win this election, all they have to do is sit back, relax and let Bush continue to run things.

You know, you must not be very experienced in stock trading. To a lemming like you, yesterday looked like all doom and gloom. However if you studied the underlying trends, you would have noticed the trends showed plenty of bottom forming characteristics.

I bet (if you are old enough, which I question from your post) you were one of those people that sold out in 1987 at the bottom, and then waited for the surface signals to say buy, after all the experienced traders already made their money.

Sounds to me like you are one of those "geniuses" that buys a momentum stock, because it has gone up consistently for the past few months and then you feel all good because for the next week it goes up (your not fleeced), then when reality like FUNDAMENTALS step in, you lose most of your investment after hours. CROX ring a bell? Meanwhile, in times like this, you put your money in a 2% savings account. Maybe you don't lose capital on paper, but you lose actual wealth on a daily basis when the inflation rate is 4%.

I personally like buying the stock of good companies when it is on sale. And if I am making a dividend of 5% I am even getting paid for it. And if it goes against me for a little bit - well that is ok, however I strongly doubt that I will be the one living in poverty in retirement following a value investing philosophy.

To be honest, Bush is doing exactly what the American people wanted. He was the one who allowed people to scam each other over just like in the dot-com and previous 'bubbles'. Ten years ago the same crowd who whines and cries all over about how the economy is going to hell and Bush is a dictator - this crowd was out scamming people and making up all sorts of excuses to justify their behavior. Anyone who turns away from the internet and the media can see all the fun and games people pull on each other.

To be honest, i don't see any reason to worry about the economy. If corporate America scams people over all the time like you allege, why ask anything of it? None of your institutions listen to you, and to be honest, most Americans aren't very bright or very observant of the real world to boot. It's no wonder that half of the economic growth is make-believe. $13 trillion of nothing / year. Maybe that's why American Idol is so popular?

For the record, Bush is a clown. I never voted for him (I actually voted third party in the last election). But what's the point of worrying about Obama if the problem isn't with the president? The problem is with the American people. If you want a Walmart economy, then you can put up with all the Bullshit that comes with it. If you want a Wally World government (cheap, unreliable and poorly laid out), fine. But don't be surprised when...they can't even get their numbers or the budget right or they bust the bank like they do every other year. Just to get your attention, I think the majority of Americans are blubbery clowns, including the overinflated mess we call a military. If you feel that the Iraq War is evil and immoral and unconstitutional (wrong there!), then please...drop the Bingo cards, drop the cupcakes, quit waving that piece of cloth you call a flag, get out of your VFW building and do something about it...

...starting with your local politicians. If you feel they don't represent your interests or are a local tyrant, VOTE THEM OUT. And please, don't vote in the same type of person to replace them.

If you Americans feel that the US government or the current setup of the country is not acceptable to you, then vote in something different!

If you want liberty and a less intrusive government, this means you have to do without the 'services' provided by them. Are most Americans that rugged and resourceful to last without the "welfare state"? I doubt it.

If the COnstitution isn't working for America, then get rid of it or alter it to suit your needs better (it apparently isn't working very well now).

If corporate America is corrupt to the bone, reregulate it, or simply let it sink. No bailouts for anyone for anything, NO EXCEPTIONS.

DO I sound hateful, politically incorrect and unpatriotic? I hope I do since feel-good talk doesn't seem to work. Do I care if I offend someone? No. I'm just being the devils advocate. If this issue with Bush and Congress and the State governments bothers everyone in the states SO MUCH, then PLEASE, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! Otherwise, we'll be past Bush, Obama or McCain or someone else gets elected into office, and in the middle of 2009 or 2010 or later on people will be crying and whining about the same thing they do today RIGHT NOW in 2008. Gas is too high/housing market stinks/Dow Jones is only 5000 instead of 10000/China makes our plastic cutlery and we don't (no skill needed there)/Obama-McCain-RuPaul is a tyrant and pees on the Constitution/my car only gets 22 mpg/the doctor at my clinic is a jerk and eyes up my lover/American Idol elected the fat slob from Hillbilly City and not StudMuffin from NYC/McDonalds burgers have 70g of fat and I eat too many of them/gold is only $200 oz and I bought at $800/the CEOs take our money and hide it in the Cayman Islands/my neighbors are sheeple and can't keep their hands off each other/my Manhattan condo is only worth $20K and I bought it at $2 million/the roads have huge holes from fat people in their Hummers driving over them...IT GOES ON AND ON AND ON...

Come on, this train wreck started long long ago. the road was paved with good intentions (like making home ownership more affordable, a noble goal). Several track switches (i think the first one was the creation of social security and then the subsequent expansion of it) where thrown that started us on this inevitable crash.

We are all to blame. what has anyone here on this blog done to try and fix the issue, other than complain? People could have run for office, any office to make a difference. I am not sure it would have made a difference but I for one, will always feel bad that I didn't actually try and DO SOMETHING.

I am doing something I guess. I am working to position myself and my family to weather the coming storm. A lot of morning lately I getup, brew pot of coffee, and sit my living room and look out into the distance, towards the coastal mountain range and i feel like the end of the terminator movie where Sarah Conner is filling up at the gas station in the middle of nowhere, talking about the coming storm while watching the weather storm forming in the distant mountains.

99% of the population has no idea what is headed our way. and when it hits, they won't really understand it even then. but that is the way it always is and will always be.

No place will be safe and I think the struggling third world countries are going to be absolutely decimated by this storm. they will turn into dead zones.

the USA is positioned well to weather this storm. we have water, farm land, abundant resources (though not at the levels we currently consume them) and big oceans that separate us from most of the rest of the world.

Will it be hard? hell yes but I would rather be here than anywhere else when the storm hits.

I once disliked Bush but I now have to admire the guy.

I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during his administration. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that Americans are not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you Americans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area, another bubble, or to another fellow American. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Americans are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and Bush is the cure.

You see, Bush was the person who made you feel pain for over consuming, driving gas guzzlers, living beyond your means, for your greed, your constant whining.

Who else would bring you all to a cold reality? Obama and his Democrat nanny state-feel good approach? I don't think so. You people needed a wake-up call and Bush was a mediator of that. Was it harsh? Sure, but you morons just learn the hard way, if ever.

Just look at what happened after 9-11: nothing but greed, screwing each other over real estate, explosion of obesity, the whoring up of America like never before, tsunami of brain shrinking TV programs like Idol and MTV Cribs and Flip That House.

Hell, Hollywood celebs continue to blow your hard earned money with $10,000 handbags, while your morons treat them like gods. They aren't gods; they're you puppet-masters. Oprah rents islands for $50k per day in the Caribbean and then pushes her boy Obama down your throats. And you love it!

Bush was the best thing that happened to you.

I just have to laugh at the people who call Bush an idiot. He's has degrees from Harvard and Yale, was twice elected president, and has a net worth of at least 10x anyone on this board."

Bought and paid for by Granddaddy and Daddy Bushco. I would be surprised if GW Bush can actually read and write at all.

Americano = Slowly Roasted Snapper Turtle

#####

The land is slowly sinking into a quagmire of putrid waste, foul smelly sewage, ankle deep in human excrement.
The sky is darkening more and more every minute as the time is drawing near for the judgement fate of the roasted Americano.

"Thou shall be judged and judged rightly..."

<<<<<
Nostradamus prophecy is showing up at the door of the land of the Americano:

Thou shall be slowly roasted nicely over a bed of white hot charcoal, skewered from mouth to ass like a Snapper Turtle skewered on a green Chinese bamboo stick, juice dripping down, fat oozing, sputtering, succulent flesh aromatically wafting hungryly in the air.
>>>>>

Now, a little verse from the "Man With The White Beard" to cheer things up for the horde of Snapper Turtle, Porpoise, Armadillo, Raccoon, Opossum, Porcupine, Skunk, and "BORKAFATTY" AKA :::The Pig:::

Psalm 23:4

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of the Housing Bubble,
I will fear no foreclosure:
for Dubya Shrub & Penis Shooter art with me:
thy bail-out and thy rebate-check, they comfort me."

Has anyone seen a fresh video from the biggest attention whore on the planet Bin Laden in years?
Anyone? No? Why? Because he dead. Bush and U.S. military has kicked soo much islamofacist ass, its impossible to even keep score.

You're such a poor deluded fool. The reason Osama hasn't been found or captured is because he is a phantom threat - a lump of bullsh*t promoted by your CIA AKA the greatest exporter of terrorism in the world.

Instead of living in your stupid little left/right, red/blue, American fake-ass patriot paradigm try learning a little about the history of the CIA and their close history with Al Qaeda (a CIA creation) and the mujahideen. Look up the School of the Americas.

You're all being played for fools. 9/11 was a covert operation which is part of the grand strategy of tension to keep you in fear of a fictitious enemy so that the elites and the military industrial complex can have their way with the Middle East and Central Asia.

Read about "Project for a New American Century" and their documents written by the Neoconservatives that control the executive branch. It has all been foretold. They've executed their plans perfectly and you're just too stupid to notice.
