HousingPANIC Stupid Question of the Day

I was just wondering, do any of you plan on admitting that you have been "very publicly very foolish" anytime soon?

Publically foolish...??

Nope - just calling them like I see them.

Enjoy the die off!!!

Actually, I have been very publicly very foolish and I will admit it right now. But it has nothing to do with the housing bubble.

When I'm wrong, when I'm stupid, when I'm arrogant, obnoxious, rude, intemperate, degenerate, when I am all these things: at least I can admit it.

The only HPers who come to mind that have been very publicly very foolish regarding the housing bubble are DOPES and Blowfly. Even Andrew Hac's incoherent ramblings reflect a certain accuracy that Swan-dive's flowery prose can never touch.

This is not to say it won't happen in the future but so far, I believe, I have not been very publicly very foolish regarding the housing bubble.

I PITY THE FOOL. SEROIUS QUESTION FOR HPers: Is it foolish for my wife and I to take tenure track positions in AZ
(flagstaff to be specific)? Of course, we would rent until ~2013, but we are concerened about the state/county budget issues in light of the Pheonix/Scottsdale implosion and the job security at the state university system. We would be leaving jobs at a natl lab that are none to stable either. Just wonder if any of you can comment on the economic health of AZ universities?

To be foolish, wouldn't one also have to be sincere ?

PB &J: I am sorry that I can not speak about the state of the state of AZ and NAU...but I lived in Sedona for 6 years...having just moved to Bellevue, WA.
I can, however, tell you that Flag(as the AZers call it) is a nice little city. It's a small town but has very nice outdoor activities and actually has 4 seasons! I used to hike to the top of Mt. Humphreys quite often. Elder is a cool hike too.
We are now enjoying Bellevue.

I've never not been 'publically foolish'.

You mean like endorsing Obama...?

I publicly admit I was foolish to believe that house prices in NYC and Long Island were justified by the fundamentals of the market.
Denial here is still strong despite the foreclosure bus tours (*NEW*) and the ever-increasing foreclosure rates.

Yes, I have been foolish and I have said publicly to my HH co-workers as such.

What I should have done, was to purchase the largest home that I could not afford with an interest only, adjustable rate, negative amortized, no-doc, no down payment loan. Made a few payments, let the foreclosure process begin, lived rent free for 6 months, and then received a government bail out. That would have made the most sense financially.

A few co-workers sense the sarcasm and realize that I was correct when calling the bubble. Others, see this as a viable plan for their current mortgage debacle.

In '04 I owned 500 shares of Apple and sold it at $17 because it didn't seem to be going anywhere. Only a $400K mistake-oh well...
