Thoughts on New Hampshire

Hello from Austria. Here´s some thoughts on the NH primary tomorrow, with about 1000 km of thinking and gaming it out behind me...

§ Obama has Europe talking and excited in a JFK kinda way.. Should that matter in the US? Does it? Obama in a landslide in NH - the Dem race for the WH is over. Period.

§ Independents are ALWAYS the story in NH. So who will they vote for tomorrow? Look at their vote TOTALS as the leading indicator of 2008. I suspect they´ll go in droves for Obama. After that Ron Paul - the anti-war candidates instead of the pro-war, pro-Bush, pro-Illegal-Immigration angry old man McCain or the establishment whore Clinton.

§ Independents are 40% plus in NH so that´s the story - not who wins or loses the party election. And you just know Bloomberg is watching...

§ McCain loses to Romney as anti-war Independents vote for Obama or Paul and the establishment east coast wall street hedge fund big-money GOP reasserts itself with Romney vs. the Southern Hick Huckabee.

§ Ron Paul 1st or 2nd or we´re done. IF Independents do the important and dramatic thing, he wins. If not, it was a good race although his ads were lacking, and I hope he stays in until the end and uses his delegates to determine the nominee. And he better spend every penny of that $20 million he has left on Super Tuesday.

mccain is a criminal. he is also a traitor. he traded us military information for good treatment at the hanoi hilton. he was kept seperate from the other prisoners and he had conjugal visits from vietnamese prositutes and this activity was filmed by the KGB and the Mossad to be used for future blackmailing purposes. during his 5 1/2 year stay at the hanoi hilton, mccain did not stay in his prison cell all of the time either. he was taken to russia to be debriefed also.

when he came back to the states he obtained a divorce from his wife and married a woman who was the daughter of jewish mobsters in arizona who were involved in the liquor business and worked for the bronfman family (seagrams), out of canada, a jewish mob group who made their bones during the eliot ness days of prohibition. mccain is all mobbed up and is a serious blackmail risk if he got to be president. also let us not forget the keating 5 during the savings and loan crisis.

if not Ron Paul, then why not just vote for the geezer-hawk to push us off the cliff instead of a slow bleed. he'll jump into war w/ Iran, oil will hit $200 barrel. China and India will tell us to back the f*ck off b/c we're raising their costs as well- then the sh*t really hits the fan w/ a possible nuke by McCain on someone random (Syria?), those wacky Pakis sell nukes to Al-Q, Russia and Venezuela decide it's time to forcefully extend their influence to the rest of their respective regions, China takes Taiwan after knocking out our satellites, blah blah etc etc.

then we start from scrath w/ 20% of the current world population and realize lawyers and management consultants are only worth their weight in food to the hungry.

Keith:

I see it somewhat differently.

The high number of independents in New Hampshire has to do with the way their primaries are set up. If you are of a declared party, you can only vote on that ballot in the primary. If you are undeclared, you can choose the party at election time. As a result, they have 31% republican, 26% democrat and 44% undeclared.

McCain will easily win NH. Romney is almost out of the race, although he will win the sort-of primary in Michigan on 1/15 (his dad George is the former Guv of MI)

I think that Paul is done after tomorrow. First, he’s suffering from the Powell Effect (http://malcolmrant.blogspot.com/2007/12/beware-colin-powell-effect.html). Second, he’s sent out a message to Michigan supporters that is foreboding to say the least. In the letter, he said that he needs 55 votes for every 1 supporter in Michigan. This just won’t happen.

Huckabee is probably going to do very poorly tomorrow. 28% of NH citizens are non-Christian, and Huck went on a “come to Jesus” tour at a church yesterday.

My prediction:

Obama wins by at least 10%. Clintons’ campaign collapses shortly after.
McCain wins by a 4-8% margin, and it’s a horse-race into super-Tuesday.

Rudy will score poorly, he’s out soon. Thompson will pick up Mitt’s votes.

Hey Keith, Your globalist candidate Mcstain is the most hated traitor in America. It's funny how the msm pushes Mcstain saying Romney has no chance. Talk to local analists on the groung they say Romney will beat Mcstain soundly. Mcstain will get slaughtered in New H. You free traders(traitors) open boarders people will not win selling that dirtbag.

Anyway you look at it we're doomed if Ron Paul isn't elected.

The GOP's look like the walking dead, with their wrinkled, bloated faces, receding hairlines and big ol bags under their eyes.

The democrats are going to put the nail in the coffin by taxing us all while the dollar is crashing and our cost of living is ski high.

Rather than spend time following this rigged campaign, I am spending my energy protecting the assets I have; investing outside the US; and for the first time putting together a bug out plan for when the shit hits the fan.

§ Obama has Europe talking and excited in a JFK kinda way.. Should that matter in the US? Does it?

That's good news, and if it doesn't matter to most Americans, than it SHOULD. Most citizens of the U.S. don't understand that alot of the current financial troubles they're facing (e.g. the falling dollar) are directly related to sentiment felt worldwide about Americans. It's hard to have warm-fuzzies for us, when our storm-troops are invading to "protect" your country!

We need someone who can unify our European allies via diplomacy, not guns, as even our European allies who stood by us were highly offended by Bush, with his Old West "we're going it alone, with our six-guns blazing" attitude.

I think Obama would be the best choice for soothing frayed nerves in Europe, and I'm a bit surprised he's not actually playing UP his Islamic past, as someone who understands the tenets of Islam. That would be HUGE, IMO, although it risks offending the Billy-Bobs (who probably don't matter, anyway: they're highly unlikely going to vote for a BLACK man, anyway).

In terms of sending a message, I think it says that Obama is not going to be bashing Islam and rattling sabres, with him talking like he wants to kill all them thar' towelheads in Eeraq and Af-ghan-nee-stan with our nukulear weapons. Bush, a white male from Texas, has treaded well past the thin ice.

So short of offering the rest of the world the head of GWB on a stake, I'd say Obama makes a better choice, on the International front....

Anonymous said...

Put it this way. If Ron Paul is done - the US is done. There won't be another viable candidate that can alter the USA's course towards economic oblivion.

Just out of curiosity, why do the Europeans love Obama so much? I just get nothing from that guy. All he ever talks about is "change". How is he so different to Hillary?

Do the Euros just like him because he's black and can deliver a speech well?

Anonymous said...

Ron Paul? Seriously? When a candidate gets endorsements from Dennis Hoff, Mel Gibson's dad, and members of StormFront and CAIR, they've completely lost me. Not even a rabid socialist like Hillary has gotten endorsements like that. And when Paul thinks that Iran is "defending istelf" and being logical... well that's just 10 kinds of crazy.

Thanks, I'll take my chances with Thompson, and if not him, I guess I'll have to settle for Mitt. Too bad Duncan Hunter was never able to gain any traction...

Obama is a cypher and a stalking horse for the Wall Street Boyz who want someone to grant them immunity when TSHTF. Not saying that John Edwards is much better as he did his time for the hedge funds/Repug criminals.

But Hillary is going to open some big holes in Obama as she goes down and that might make room for Edwards. Don't start talking about PERIOD anything until after Feb. 5th. Obama is still a novice and executive experience will become a question sooner or later.

The only thing that you should put a PERIOD over is the Republican Party. They got 1/2 of the turnout that the Dems did in Iowa. The top three Dems got more votes than Huckebee. They will be lucky to get 35% of the vote in the fall.

This is not a two-party horse race, Ron Paul or not. PERIOD!

Anonymous said...

It's a shame, but tomorrow you'll see all your Ron Paul dollars were a waste of time. It would have been nice to see him win, but reality is setting in now.

Then hopefully all the Paul hopefuls will move over to Obama. Perhaps not agreeing with everything he stands for, but just so we can get the Red out of the white house, and not have Hillary in there. (Which is doubtful but still)

Anonymous said...

I'm not voting for Oboma under any circumstances.

I don't comprehend this post.

Ron Paul was never ever going to win the nomination. Ever. Imagine if he was pulling 40% primary after primary. What would the bosses of the GOP do? They would choose one candidate, by lot if necessary, and force the rest out. Ron Paul 40%, candidate X 60%. Game. Set. Match.

What Ron Paul is doing is advancing a cause. He is building a movement that will obviously last beyond this election. When the Great Depression is here people will run to Ron for statesman like leadership.

Rather than blow his money on the primary, he should channel it into organization building a la Howard Dean for the last for years, or he should run as a Libertarian so that a third party can get broader ballot access.

Sour grapes over the Republican nomination? The GOP is a fascist party; they are the enemy.

Obama wins in NH, but it will be a little closer than the most recent polls. Still big enough to continue his roll. Edwards finishes a little closer to Hillary.

The Republicans: McCain wins but gets little 'MO' out of it. Romney, Thompson and Rudy G. all look hapless, frustrated and a little silly. They try to salvage embers from the blown to bits Republican ideology that was flipped inside out and upside down by BushCo.

As we use to say in the 60's, 'the times they are changin'

The folks in charge have so screwed up the country for the 90% of us who aren't rich, that people are going for someone who can offer up positive change for them.

I would say in 2008, look for one of the largest turnovers in incumbents in history. A LOT of people from both parties are going to lose their jobs.

A joint statement read by the meeting's co-host, former U.S. Democratic Sen. Sam Nunn, led off with the line: "America is in DANGER."

He went on to say that the country's standing in the world has sunk to unprecedented lows and problems such as budget deficits, energy supply and environmental degradation are NOT being addressed.

"We are failing to address them primarily because rampant partisanship has paralyzed the ability of government to act and lead," Nunn said.

with people like you running around, it is any wonder this country is the way it is? I certainly don't blame you. For you see, you are what you are and the state made you the way you are. While this was going on, the baby boomers allowed it to happen. In the last hundred years of so, we have seen this saga unfold. Young men and women being born, schooled in the government schools where the curricula are dumbed down in order to produce dumb people who do not have the ability to think. From your words , that by the way, make no sense whatsoever, we can see the results of this dumbing down process. It is a shame really. This is why I say Mr Paul should blow this whole thing off and come home. It is a done deal. The sheep are so stupid and distracted now, that it is of no use to try and wake them up. For all intents and purposes this bogus political process has run its course now. We see this in the above remarks. Not all are like this but many are. When Dr Paul speaks to them, they do not understand his speech. They do not understand his message. Therefore, if he is wasting his time, and I think he is, then he should return home and forget about it. He is a old man now. Come home Ron Paul and run for governor of the state of Texas. Let us start small before we get great. Going for the brass ring is all but impossible now, barring any supernatural intervention by the Most High at this time. We have done this to ourselves. The watchmen have been sleeping on the walls. The enemies are within us now. We are enemy. So now we destroy ourselves and our country by neglect and by ignorance and because of the horizontally integrated societal pressures that have been put in place by those who want this country to fall, in order to make way for the new world. But there is hope. There always is. There are those out here who will not bow the knee to this new world order. They retain that liberty seed inside of them and are willing to do whatever it takes to win this country back even if it takes a hundred years. Perhaps it will. The choice soon enough will be how many of you are willing to sacrifice all that you are, all that you have to make this happen? In the first revolution perhaps 3 percent gave all that they had for this noble experiment. I am proud to be a modern day 3 percenter. How about you? The bells of warning, are ringing in Lexington and Concord again. It is time to assemble on the green, one more time. How many of us will heed that salient call this time? God only knows. Ron Paul is the only hope for this nation now. It has come down to this. He is the only one that knows what is at stake and knows what is to be lost. It is obvious. The time for talking is over now.

"As a Gen-Xer, I inherently trust Obama to do the right thing."

First: If you inherently trust ANYTHING that an political candidate says, then you are a complete and utter fool. Live on the planet a few more years and wise-up. Look at what a candidate has done first (in Obama's case, that would be NOTHING, as he has only been in the Senate for 3 years and has spent 2-3/4 of those years campaigning for the Presidency and writing books. You want a guy like that working for you?)

Second: Neither Obama nor Hillary can win. The Dems, some independents and a few Republican deserters may be ready for a black or female president, but the majority of Americans (translation: RED states) are just not there yet.

Third, as a Democrat, I woudl really prefer that a Republican win in 2008, and I really don't understand that Hillary and Obama are thinking. People, we are on a HOUSING CRASH blog. We all know that this ship is heading towards massive icebergs and a dollar crash that is unavoidable. Why get stuck with this albatross in 2008 and get blamed for Bush's mess? No, better wait it out till this thing bottoms in 2012, then swoop in when things can't get any worse. As it stands, being President next year will be like buying a $2M McMansion in Riverside: the only place to go is down. I would hate for the first black or female President to get stuck with this...

Louisiana just elected an Indian as governor last year. He replaced a woman as governor.

Texas has had a woman governor.

Kansas has a woman governor right now.

Arizona's current governor is a woman.

Kentucky had a woman governor in the 1980s.

Nebraska had a woman governor in the 1970s.

All red states, all electing minorities and women as governors for decades.

On the other hand the two most liberal states, NY and California have **NEVER** had a woman or a minority as governor.

Ron Paul is a closet racist. You are all a bunch of deluded fools.

You complete and total dumbass. How much do you really know about Ron Paul? If you had read his books and listened to his speeches and interviews you would know full well that there is not a bigoted bone in Ron Paul's body. He is fundamentally opposed to collectivism which leads to bigotry and racism. These claims have been debunked over and over again. Some white supremacist moron gets his picture taken with Ron Paul at a rally and that somehow makes Ron Paul a white supremacist. Do you know how many pictures Ron Paul has had taken with supporters without knowing their friggin personal history?!!

The foreign policy of the Neoconservatives that try to pin these tenuous racism labels on Ron Paul are the true racists as shown via their actions. They are the ones advocating the bombing and killing of thousands of innocent Muslims. *That* is racism buddy!!

Of course, it's always the morons like you that spread their ignorance far and wide with their loud mouths and small minds.

To the dolt who set forth a long list of states that elected female and minority governors without really understanding the point of my post: How many of the governors on your lame list are Democrat? Time's up. The answer is "Damn few."

In case you hadn't noticed, Hillary and Obama are both Democrats. So in addition to being minorities, they also carry the burden of being from a party that traditionally has not fared well in red states. Most political commentators have always noted that the most viable female or minority candidate would come from the GOP for that very reason. Elizabeth Dole. Colin Powell. Follow along, sweetheart, because I'm going to take you further.

Now, going back to your silly little list, ask yourself how many of these red states have actually voted for DEMOCRATIC presidents? Because you apparently missed the boat completely and don't seem to realize that we are in The process of electing a PRESIDENT. Not a mayor or a governor.

If you had any substantive knowledge or sense of U.S. political history beyond running to Wikipedia and digging up stats, you would realize that historically many states typically vote for governors and presidential candidiates from different parties. For example, California often elects Republican governors (Schwarzenegger, Deukmeijian, Reagan), but typically votes for Democrat presidential nominees (Kerry, Gore, Clinton). It's a pattern. Study it and LEARN.

So let's discuss which states on your list actually voted Democrat in the last 2 PRESIDENTIAL elections:

Wyoming - Bush
Virgina - Bush
Louisiana - Bush
Texas - Bush
Kansas - Bush
Arizona - Bush
Kentucky - Bush
Nebraska - Bush

So when I say that red states aren't ready for a female or a mninority PRESIDENT, I am addressing the historical pattern that clearly shows that (a) red states may elect female and minority governors, but they are usually Republican, not Democrat; and (b) red states typically don't vote for Democratic presidential candidates. As Hillary and Obama are female and minority AND Democrat, history argues against their election by the overwhelming majority of red states.

Think before you write. And for God's sake, I hope you put more thought into your vote than you do in writing emails. No wonder this country is going into the crapper.

Ron Paul is a closet racist. You are all a bunch of deluded fools.<<

that is a silly thing to say. you are parroting the main stream media now. so this is what they are going to try now huh? imagine that.

the term racist first was used in 1932 by a new york jew named david bronstein aka Trotsky, one of the jewish founders of russian communism, in his book....The history of the Russian Revolution....

from there it made it into the english lexicon to be used by leftist and communist and politically correct types to try and denegrate people they don't like.

so what you have done by saying this is parrot the extreme left and what they are trying to do to ron paul because they fear him and his ideas of destroying the federal reserve, which would end once and for all the jewish banker influences in this country, thereby destroying and/or delaying the jewish dream of a new world order with its base of operations located in jerusalem....

congratuatlations are in order for using your noodle for such a positive endeavor...

mccain tidbits...

In 1976 a crusading Phoenix reporter, Don Bolles, was murdered by a car-bomb after writing a series of stories exposing the organized crime connections of well-known figures in Arizona, including one Jim Hensley.

Five years later "Honest John" McCain arrived in Arizona as the new husband of Hensley's daughter, Cindy. "From the moment McCain landed in Phoenix," according to Charles Lewis of the Center for Public Integrity, "the Hensleys were key sponsors of his political career."

The fact is, the people ultimately behind the Hensley fortune are even more interesting and controversial

While it is well-known McCain's father-in-law is owner of the biggest Anheuser-Busch beer distributor in Arizona—one of the largest beer distributors in the nation—the media has had nothing to say about the origins of the Hensley fortune that financed McCain's rise to power.

The Hensley fortune, in fact, is a regional offshoot of the big time bootlegging and rackets empire of the Bronfman dynasty of Canada, founded by Sam Bronfman, an early partner of Meyer Lansky, longtime "chairman of the board" of the international crime syndicate. (The Bronfmans cover all bases. Sam's son, Edgar, today—at least publicly—supports George W. Bush.)

McCain's father-in-law got his start as a top henchman of one Kemper Marley who, for some forty years until his death in 1990 at age 84, was the undisputed behind-the-scenes political boss of Arizona. But Marley was much more: he was also the protege of Lansky's longtime lieutenant, Phoenix gambler Gus Greenbaum.

In 1941 Greenbaum had set up the Transamerica Publishing and News Ser vice, which operated a national wire service for bookmakers. In 1946 Green baum turned over the day-to-day operations to Marley while Greenbaum focused on building up Lansky-run casinos in Las Vegas, commuting there from his home in Phoe nix. Greenbaum, in fact, was so integral to the Lansky empire that he was the one who took command of Lansky's Las Vegas interests in 1947 after Lansky ordered the execution of his own longtime friend, Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, for skimming profits from the new Flamingo Casino.

Greenbaum and his wife were murdered in a mob "hit" in 1948, their throats cut. The murder set off a series of gangland wars in Phoenix, but Marley survived and prospered

During this time Marley was building up a liquor distribution monopoly in Arizona. The truth is that it was the Bronfman family that set Marley up in business. However, in 1948, some 52 of Marley's employees (including Jim Hensley) went to jail on federal liquor violations—but not Marley.

The story in Arizona is that Hensley took the fall for Marley. Upon Hensley's release from prison, Marley paid Hensley back by setting him up in the beer business. That company today, said to be worth $200 million, financed McCain's career. And without Marley's political support McCain could have never even gotten elected dogcatcher.

But there's more. McCain's father-in-law had also dabbled in the dog racing business and he expanded his family fortune further by selling his dog racing track to an individual connected to the the Buffalo-based Jacobs family.

The Jacobs were the leading distributors for Bronfman liquor into the United States during Prohibition into the hands of local gangs that were part of the Lansky syndicate. Expanding over the years, the family's enterprises were once described as being "probably the biggest quasi-legitimate cover for organized crime's money-laundering in the United States."

While John McCain himself can not be held personally responsible for the sins of his father-in-law, the fact is that this "reformer" owes his political and financial fortunes to the good graces of the biggest names in organized crime.

yeh, i would trust this guy as president. fools in new hampshire should be ashamed of themselves. stupidity runs rampant in the state of new hampshire.

"Many guilt-ridden white people will voted for Obama is their form of slavery reparations even though they disagree with him on 90% of the issues."

Ah, apparently not. Unlike Iowa, NH was a secret ballot and it appears once that curtain closes the majority of white liberal Democrats are unwilling to vote for a negro.

Ah yes, Democrats. The party of slavery. The party of Jim Crow. The party of the Ku Klux Klan. I know they don't teach history in public schools any more, but you can still Google the history of this fine party.

Here's another racist (actually sexist) thought for you. Hillary will likely be the nominee. But a huge block of white men with jobs (the same group that elected Bush twice) will never vote for her. And that simple truth will cost Bill his 3rd term.

HE HAS NO INTERNATION EXPERIENCE!!!! He was a state senator from the ghetto south side of Chicago. Ugh, you people are crazy.

GWB was the governor of TX, and Reagan was the governor from CA, and Bill Clinton was the governor from AR. NONE of these politicians, including most of the candidates in the caucuses, have ANY foreign policy experience.

So how exactly could ANYONE screw up foreign relations past their current state? Bush has so completely screwed things up, that it's hard to imagine how it could get much worse.

Well, I guess I was wrong on that.

I really thought the Obama bump would carry over.

I guess I didn't take into account Hillary's new softer image.

That and Bill's "how dare you screw up our plans" speech.

Well, it's not over yet, but we'll have to see.
