The revolt against America's tyrannical & corrupt leaders has begun. Ron Paul is now leading the dissent. Will enough Americans join in time?

Watch the full 25 minute speech here.

Not sure if you're paying attention (yet) America, but a revolution has started.

I still think Ron Paul has a snowball's chance in hell of winning, but ya never know. It all comes down to enough lazy Americans waking up from their slumber. And the housing crash may be the one thing that does the trick.

Madam Speaker, for some, patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. For others, it means dissent against a government's abuse of the people's rights.

I have never met a politician in Washington or any American, for that matter, who chose to be called unpatriotic. Nor have I met anyone who did not believe he wholeheartedly supported our troops, wherever they may be.

What I have heard all too frequently from various individuals are sharp accusations that, because their political opponents disagree with them on the need for foreign military entanglements, they were unpatriotic, un-American evildoers deserving contempt.

The original American patriots were those individuals brave enough to resist with force the oppressive power of King George. I accept the definition of patriotism as that effort to resist oppressive state power.

The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self-interest for himself, his family, and the future of his country to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state. Resistance need not be violent, but the civil disobedience that might be required involves confrontation with the state and invites possible imprisonment.

Unfortunately, with Paul, it doesn't stop at resisting Bush and Cheney's many impeachable acts or the war. No, he is also against a woman's right to choose, against gun control, and wants to roll up most federal programs. (Note - as per gun control, I'm all for hunting, collecting antiques, and assorted other modes of gun ownership).

Wow -- just was a clip of RP on the morning news. This could be the first time he has not been "edited" out of the picture.

Too bad half of his ideas are only just clinging to the fringe.

I think we all know what needs to be done. Make the news outlets cover this story. Go to the "contact us" pages on CNN.COM, ABCNEWS.COM and all the other main outlets and tell them to pick up this story. Tell them to put it as breaking news. Because they are jerks. And unless it's Barack or Hillary they don't want to pick it up.

Oddly, Fox News covers it as the 3rd most important political story. That is still garbage because it is the most important.

Where is the Ron Paul article? The associated press picked it up, so it should be on the front page of your site and at the top of the politics heading. He raised $4.2M in one day which has never been done before.

Keith, seriously.

Do you think Wall Street & banks etc. want someone in who might not be EASY and support a bailout?

What's a few billion to throw around to investment banks when the reward could be in the trillions.

If the election was in 2010, then Ron Paul would have a chance. The consequences of the housing crash will not kick in with full-effect before the republicans choose their leader.

I think Americans will have to suffer through a severe recession to convince them to change course.

The 2012 election will be interesting, but RP is getting on in years. Anybody to take his place?

WTF is in the water in Texas? You elect Bush as governor twice. And you send this loon to DC as your US Rep too? Ugh.

I dont know about that. There's lots of competition out there, like "Dancing with the Stars" "America's Next Top Model" and Duane "THE DOG" Chapman all fighting for our attention! Who do you think America is going to join in time?

An economic crash, followed by a period of isolationism, followed by... what comes after that again?

I'm sure Ron Paul even knows he will not win, but I love his speech ... because he describes so clearly what we're dealing with today in our country ... a monarchy, an aristrocracy determined to rule - regardless of the outcome to the masses.

Only the richest of the rich will prosper under their plan.

The recession (moving into a severe recession by 2008) will hopefully wake people up to what's really going on.

Those in the private sector are working more and more to support the lifestyles of those feeding from the public trough.

If you're working in the private sector, how do you feel about this?

Given the state that our country is in now, what do you think will be done (if anything) to provide assistance to those not protected by the entitlement programs that have been put in place within the public sector?

I've noticed something interesting while driving around my local area the last few weeks. As in most towns there are a bazillion campaign posters planted along every road but this year I noticed something different. None of the Republican candidated have the word "Republican" printed anyplace on their signs. In all the campaign posters I can't find the word "Republican on any of them. The Democratic candidates all have the word "democratic" or the donkey symbol on their posters. Even radio ads for Republican candidated just say things like "paid for by friends of (candidates name)". It appears that the Bush administration has so badly trashed the reputation of the Republican party that people are ashamed to identify themselvs as Republicans. He took a perfectly good party and turned it into an embaressment. Maybe Ron Paul can save the party but it's doubtful. The real powers who run this country want someone like Bush who will do as he's told.

Paul's strategy is sound. Look at the monies raised so far and the monies remaining for the GOP candidates. When the primary race kicks off for real in February '08, Paul's campaign will have money to spend while half the others will be broke.

So let the media cackle, snort, and spin that RP has no chance. Money talks and bullsh_t walks when the primary ad buys start.

Let me get this straight. Are you suggesting that the people can somehow influence who the next president will be? Like we live in some sort of democracy or something?

While he personally doesn't like abortion he is opposed to the federal government getting involved on EITHER side of this issue and FOR leaving it to the states to decide.

So worst case you might have to travel to California, New York, or some other nifty state for your safe and legal treatment.
