Oh dear god - the braindead Democrats now want Bush to name a "mortgage advisor" and throw more taxpayer money at housing gamblers and failed flippers

It's now official - the United States is run by monkeys.

HP message to the Democrats and any other government official who thinks it's a good idea to spend hard-working taxpayer money bailing out housing gamblers:

GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS.

Now if the Democrats would like to be useful, start by cracking down on the out-of-control and unregulated REIC. And send the SEC after Angelo Mozilo.

Monkeys I tell ya. Monkeys.

Democrats to Unveil Foreclosure Plan - Democratic Lawmakers to Call on White House to Create Special Mortgage Market Adviser

Top congressional Democrats will call Wednesday for the Bush Administration to appoint an adviser to coordinate the federal government's response to mounting foreclosures around the country.

The effort by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and others is an attempt by Democrats to step up pressure on the White House to respond to the troubles in the housing market.

Democrats have been critical of the Bush administration's response to the mortgage market problems, which started among loans made to borrowers with weak credit and has spread to other loans.

White House spokesman Tony Fratto rejected the concept of a special adviser, saying the government's housing secretary, Alphonso Jackson, is already attuned to the issue.

"If you want to talk about inaction, you need to look no further than Congress," Fratto said, citing a lack of progress on legislation to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and overhaul the Federal Housing Administration, which guarantees mortgages for low-income borrowers.

How about we have a "name the last politician that you can think of that people can be proud of", poll?

Lincoln, maybe?

It's non-incumbents for me this year.

Death to all Democrats.
Death to all Republicans.

Nothing to vote for. It's exactly the same up here in Canada.

Without cloture congress will do nothing. 60 % vote needed. Dead in the water I think and rightly so. At least they got bush to finally veto a bill which makes him look like he hates kids. Yay!

Ron Paul. Or as I like to call him Lincoln 2.0.

So where's the money for this bailout supposed to come from? Pay off bad credit with more bad credit? Isn't that like using your Amex to help pay your ARM reset just on a national scale?

OMG is there no end to this ignorance?

They had an opportunity to take the system back but they've made total asses of themselves since taking office. Their approval rating is about half of Bush's ... how is that even possible???????

They're going to get voted out en masse just like in 1994.

This is empty political rhetoric. What effect, in real terms, would a "Special Mortgage Market Adviser" have? None.

It's a shrewd move by the Democratic Party. It costs them nothing. It costs us, the taxpayer, nothing. It does put the onus on the Republicans.

Don't worry - they keep pushing for illegal amnesty too...

How many people would like to get help and continue to hang on to overpriced homes ? My guess is majority want to get some money in their hands by filing law suits or walk away from a house that will continue to fall in value.

RE: Getting Bushwhacked:

"...Democrats have backed raising the maximum size of home loans that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac can buy in high-cost areas such as the Northeast and California above the current limit of $417,000."

Of course, the ultimate goal is to transfer as many bad mortgages as possible to taxpayer-guaranteed agencies, before the home debtors go broke.

Lender Bailout has always been what this is about.

Typical democratic response is to set up another alleged government agency all funded by the taxpayer only to get deposited into the government black hole.

I'm with you Keith. They need to go after the criminals number one and let those who made bad bets on real estate take the loss.

Anonymous said...

well, I think they need one! when the wealthy stop believing that real estate is a store of wealth, watch out below!

I think the price of gold is up because the banks simply decided to release less of it to the public each year-- creating a scarcity...

government intervention, gottttta love it!

I used to be a republican, then I got so sick and tired of their shady dealings and abuse of power that the Dems looked better. Now I see they are no better. The problem is not Democrat or Republican, it's people in general. Our nation has become full of uneducated, narcissistic, and materialistic hoardes who care more about the coach purse or Hummer they just have to have, or even worse, who got kicked off "Survivor" last night, than the people around them, or the world at large. What happened to hard work, delayed gratification, and empathy in this country????

Our politicians are giving me a headache...

I'm sure that the federal government will do as good a job with the mortgage and foreclosure issue as well as it has handled post Katrina New Orleans and Iraq.

Whatever they do will make things worse.

Keith, you simply MUST get a photo of the Countrywide Green Loyalty wristband and post. The crowning touch to the HP blog (IMHO).

This is insane! How can we have a free market society when all we seem to do is bail people, car companies, airlines, poor people from katrina,Section 8, welfare, anchor babies. How can i prosper in this enviroment? If everyone works or gets bailed out for the goverment then we have socialist society! Noone seems to care anymore either except people who are looking for the information. I have tried to tell people about this blog and what i have been reading and basically nobody wants to hear it. It least i know i am not on my own island. Thanks!!

Its all eyewash people. There is nothing any gov't can do in the face of such economic forces, let alone an incompetent one such as ours. The next few years will be interesting as banks routine write off billions each quarter, cities and states grapple with all the crime and poverty and drops in tax revenue and the RTC/FED will work to sell off all the devalued assets like in the S&L debacle.

Better a trillion dollars to help Americans

Typical liberal moron. That money is going from the middle class to the banks and Wall Street. All you have to do is claim you are trying to help people, then parade some senior citizens, minorities or children in front of the TV and the bleeding heart morons will fall in line.

Harry Reid looks like he's dead serious about bailing out some flippers and Wall Street ibanks. Gotta save those big bonuses.

He was the state senator who was in bed with the Chicago Mafia during their heyday in Vegas. Now he
s in bed with the Wall St Mafia

worst of the credit crunch is likely to become evident in the next few months. So far, rate resets "have not been a material factor in subprime delinquencies so far as the vast majority of subprime loans that have been delinquent." Sub prime, the epicenter of the vast housing storm, saw issuance fall almost 70% in the two month-ending in August. This will likely swell inventories as it puts downward pressure on price.

100% of the money for the war was borrowed from Asian banks. Hell, for the first two and a half years the funding for Iraq wasn't even on the books. So if you dems want to bitch about the war, complain to the BoJ or BoC -- they are lending the money to Uncle Sam.

As for this mortgage czar hell, let's make it a permanent cabinet position. Along with the health care czar, global warming hankie holder czar, and transgender issues czar, we'll have all the bases covered!

This election cycle is probably too soon, but I predict that the 2010 election will see many, many incumbents swept out of office in favor of previously unknown candidates.

Purge the capitol - start over with a fresh election. Every name a new one.

I'm sure some FBs will ultimately be bailed out what with all the individual state and federal bailout programs currently running or in the works, but as more and more time passes the number of people that will benefit from any of it will be fewer and far between. It's already too late for many FBs. I also think the Dems know that it's too late but they have to go through the motions and at least try to look like they know what they're doing.

Monkeys are much more intelligent -they tend to help their kind ...

I smell a sense of hubris in these democrats. I wonder who believes this tripe - they should nominate Rin Tin Tin for mortgage advisor for a litte comedic value - they would probably earn a vote or two ..

How's that 2006 vote treating everyone this morning?

Ohh the big bad republicans needed to be swept out.

You know fully well had the GOP kept control of congress there would be no bailout.

After the bailout is signed off on, amnesy for illegals is coming next. And of course higher taxes and socialized health care.

And all this because you idiots had a tantrum over Mark Foley and his IMs.

Well done.

You know fully well had the GOP kept control of congress there would be no bailout.

Sure, that's why Bernanke is bailing out all the GOP bankers with taxpayer money to the sum of billions. Nevermind the phony war that was created to transfer trillions of dollars of taxpayer money into the pockets of GOP honeys like Blackwater, Halliburton, etc. Hey, vote for Giuliani because he will create another phony war to clean your retirement accounts. Don't be surprised if you end up homeless at 70 years old and no one to take care of you, while the GOP cronies are enjoying the billions earned at your expense. Go ahead sheeple, almost 8 years of GOP government and this country is in a mess. Can't you see the obvious right in front of you?
