It's really too bad that most Americans are too dumb or too misinformed to understand this issue, or how The Fed's decision to destroy the US dollar will affect their lives.
America the country deserves leaders like Ron Paul. The current ignorant inhabitants of America do not.

Ron Paul is up to 0.0004% support and surging. Rumor has it he might break into single digits by April.

Paul Raises Jaw-Dropping $5 Million

ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf Reports: It dominated headlines yesterday when Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, announced her campaign juggernaut had outpaced all rivals in the campaign fundraising horse race with a $27 million haul in the third quarter.
Today's fundraising announcement by Rep. Ron Paul, the Republican Libertarian ob-gyn from Texas, doesn't involve quite as much money, but is downright jaw-dropping.
His campaign is revealing today that in the 3rd quarter Paul raised $5,080,000. This is more than double his 2nd quarter figure of $2.4 million and no small sum for an insurgent campaign.
Comparatively, Paul's Q3 figure is five times what was raised in the same period by GOP rival former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who is often given a better chance at the party nomination by political pundits. It puts Paul in the same fundraising neighborhood as top-tier Republican candidates like Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

Paul surprises with campaign cash total
Renegade Texas Congressman Ron Paul raised nearly $5.1 million during the summer and had $5.3 million in cash to spend at the end of last month, his campaign announced today.
His haul is more than double the $2.4 million he brought in during the second quarter and bucks the typical slowdown during July, August, and September. His campaign also noted that Republican rivals, including Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and John McCain, appear to have raised less during the third quarter.
Paul's success is eye-opening, given he is barely registering in the national polls. His campaign, however, is benefitting from an unusual cadre of young people, who are supporting him online and increasingly in rallies. Paul espouses a libertarian strain of Republican views and is the only GOP presidential candidate who opposes the war in Iraq.
"Dr. Paul's message is freedom, peace, and prosperity," Paul campaign manager Kent Snyder said in a statement. "As these fund-raising numbers show, more Americans each day are embracing Dr. Paul's message."

How can Ron Paul be so popular on the internet and single digits in the polls?
Doesnt compute
Bernanke is a fucking LIAR - inflation at 2%. Who is he kidding?!
We are so fucked.
I still love you Keith!
Paul Campaign Raises Over $5,000,000 In Third Quarter
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA - The Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign raised $5,080,000 during the third quarter of 2007. That is an impressive 114 percent increase from the second quarter.
Cash on hand for the Paul campaign is $5,300,000.
"Dr. Paul's message is freedom, peace and prosperity," said Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "As these fundraising numbers show, more Americans each day are embracing Dr. Paul's message."
Ron Paul's 114 percent increase is in stark contrast to the decrease suffered by Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain. Romney's fundraising was down 29 percent. Giuliani was down 40 percent. McCain was down 55 percent.

Smart people use internet. Dumb people don't.
Dumb people get called by pollsters. smart people don't.
Poor Dr. Paul. Doesn't he realize that *their* plan is to destroy the dollar, and that they're succeeding nicely?
What does the system care about poor people or the middle class? They see us as the source of *their* wealth; their slaves, if you will.
GOLD TO DA MOOOOOOOOOOOON ALICE!!!!!!!!!
How can Ron Paul be so popular on the internet and single digits in the polls?
Doesnt compute
Most Americans have never even heard of The Google or even seen the internets.

Well, aside from DOPES and the first two posters in this thread...
Time is running short that's the only problem. With more time Ron Paul would eclipse those other Republican ass clowns in the polls. He has the momentum and they don't.
BTW - The GOP is closing it's primaries to registered Republicans. The window for registering is very near for many states. So if you want Ron Paul you better get off your ass and register Republican right now. And get as many of your friends and family to do the same. And get them to spread the word too.
New Hampshire and New York's deadline for registration is in 8 days!
Here's the breakdown by state:

Ron Paul is up to 0.0004% support and surging. Rumor has it he might break into single digits by April.
It would help if he weren't so ignorant about defense. His fiscal policies are fantastic but they're not going to help much if we all get blown up by Osama.
Well, this is where I part company with HP - the low US dollar is good for those of us who have parked money offshore, invested in foreign stocks, and US stocks that have huge foreign operations. . .I really no longer care about US consumers - there I said it!. . .Those of us who have been reading and participating here at HP for two years had plenty of warning about this - I put my money where my mouth was, and have been handsomely rewarded. . .my Euro, Australian, Canadian, Swiss, etc etc. funds and stocks are in great shape. . .I will "laugh all the way to the bank - thank you!"
Everybody keep donating to Ron Paul!! I did!
Inflation isn't always a bad thing; it forces people to invest and spend now (good for the economy, bad for individual consumers who are on average $9,000 in debt) rather than tie up resources by saving (imagine an economy where each actor spends 10% less than they earn, how long before it shuts down?)
Right now the Fed, in a very simple way, is confronted with hesitant investors and spenders, which threatens to lock down the economy.
Raising the pace at which they dump money into the market screws over people who have natural market and economic sense (those of us who spend less than we earn).
You can see it in BB's eyes. He's ashamed of himself.
>> How can Ron Paul be so popular on the internet and single digits in the polls?
Because the polls are garbage.
Please pick your candidate. Press
1 for Rudy Giuliani
2 for John McCain
3 for Mitt Romney
4 for Fred Thompson
5 for Mike Huckabee
6 for a list of other candidates
This is an example of a "scientific" poll.
You can tell by Bernanke's response to Mr. Paul's great speech that he's nothing more than a puppet - he had absolutely no credible response to Ron Paul's question.
Peter Schiff also pointed out that by devaluating the dollar, the Fed has only made things worse for the housing crisis - money will be worth less, therfore it takes more
to purchase the same items.
Ron Paul will have an "Accident" or sudden "illness" if he gets anywhere near to be a serious contender. We are governed and controlled by a giant monster. He is like a sweet lasy bug trying to fight them. WE ARE FREEKIN DOOMED.
Re:Smart people use internet. Dumb people don't.
I have an awful lot of examples show dumb people do in fact use the internet.
Dopes for one.
http://www.timecube.com/ for two.
http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum/ for three.
Remember Howard Dean's popularity in late 2003 was primarily due to internet/activist support and money -- however, it never translated into votes in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Still, except for the terrorism statements, he's good on everything.
Ron Paul 08
Restore the Constitution
All I can say after that clip is "AMEN!" I can only hope that Ron Paul gains some traction in the polls. Then again, people get the government they deserve. It does amaze me how the MSM considers this guy so far out of the mainstream. His ideas of preserving the Constitution, limited government, balancing budgets seem like common sense yet he is treated as a high voodoo priest. Give me my tinfoil hat I guess...
-SRI
We all need to donate some to Ron Paul's campaign. I gave $100 this past quarter and will give again this month. There is an opportunity for Ron Paul's fledgling groundswell of support to gain some inertia/media coverage, etc. and start pulling in more people. One of those great underdog stories Americans love. However, I fear that whoever is elected President next year will inherit an economy that is destined for collapse. Perhaps it's better for Ron Paul to lose this time and then save us in 2012. I just hope the good doctor's health holds up!
DC Dude
Ron Paul is a honeypot to suck in right thinking folks. Unfortunately his candidacy is a rigged setup and won't get anywhere. I expect he will be coached to self-destruct at the right moment in favor of the mob's nyc man.
"How can Ron Paul be so popular on the internet and single digits in the polls?"
Polls only get the opinion of people who...
still have a land line,
are sitting at home in the early evening,
and don't have caller ID that lets them decide not to take calls from random out-of-state numbers that are 99.9% likely to be a telemarketer.
This leaves retirees, underemployed mouth-breathers, housewives, and the unemployed, who are the only people that are home to answer calls from a random out of state number on their land line in the early evening.
These are the people that determine polling numbers, and by extension, all candidates' public persona.
Ron Paul asks some important questions, questions that are on every intelligent person's mind, and Bernanke gives him that half - assed, canned answer that doesn't even address the parts about moral hazard and Wall Street and the danger of keeping interest rates too low. Bernanke knew everything in that speech was the truth, and so he answers with some superficial garbage that was barely even coherent.
Ron Paul is the man. I hope people with vote for him even as a write-in candidate if he doesn't run as independent to send a signal that we don't need no more clintons or bushies or any other automatons of corporate america.
I send an email to the Fed everyweek. Here is my latest. That do respond and even read them. It may seem infantile and fruitless, but if more americans did it...ok, I'm delusional again.
"Your program of punishing diligent savers and rewarding speculators and profligate borrowers has achieved new milestones today: the Dow and Gold and all Dollar/Euro all at all time highs. Unfortunately, the American public never got the memo that the mission of the FED has changed from price stability to never making sure the US economy never experiences another recession irrespective of the damage to the US dollar. It is nice to know that our appointed officials have no regard for people like my parents who have worked hard and lived less well than they could have in order to save for their “golden years”. Such people now face having to live on fixed annuities that will see their purchasing power erode year after year at an accelerating rate. I did not realize that Aesop’s “The Ant and the Grasshopper” was, in fact, a parody."
Anyway, it is cathartic.
I could almost vote for RP. He is however a social conservative with libertarian leanings, but is not a libertarian.
http://tinyurl.com/35gwct
So I'm really torn. The Dems suck. The Reps suck. And RP sucks too.
Dr. Paul's message is freedom, peace, and prosperity..
Except if you're a pregnant woman, in which case you will have no freedom in Ron Paul's America. Depending on your circumstances, you may never have prosperity either.
Ron Paul's stance on abortion is frightening. It's one thing to harbor those views for yourself. It's another when you think your views should trump a woman's choice over her own body.
Ron Paul:
In Congress, I have authored legislation that seeks to define life as beginning at conception, HR 1094.
I am also the prime sponsor of HR 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation to protect life. This is a practical, direct approach to ending federal court tyranny which threatens our constitutional republic and has caused the deaths of 45 million of the unborn.
I have also authored HR 1095, which prevents federal funds to be used for so-called “population control.”
Many talk about being pro-life. I have taken direct action to restore protection for the unborn.
As an OB/GYN doctor, I’ve delivered over 4,000 babies. That experience has made me an unshakable foe of abortion.
I'd rather take a collapsing economy, run-away taxes, and a depreciated dollar over another nut job in office. Bring back the housing bubble!
Greetings All,
I am looking for some help in identify ground zero of the current housing debacle in Arizona. Can anyone tell me where I can go in either Pheonix or elsewhere in Arizona to observe numerous empty homes. I mean like a stretch of homes that are either boarded up or a stretch of homes with a great many for sales signs on each block.
My reason for asking is that I am currently pursuing my Masters and for one of my classes I will be doing a paper on housing. As an avid reading of HP, I thought that my topic should be on the Phoenix or other Arizona location where houses are just sitting and sitting and sitting without any takers. I'd like to visit the identified location and speak to some residents and take a few photos.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks all, especially Keith for some great insight. Keep up the great work.
Thanks alot a-hole for "core inflation" statistical data manipulation.
I like the way your voice shakes when you answer the question. How much does ruining a country pay?
At least my profession has honor, I buy scrap gold teeth for refinement.
Looks to me like Ron Paul was rambling aimlessly and Ben Bernanke dismissed him like a school boy.
2% percent inflation.
As long as you don't eat.
Or buy gas.
Or heat your home. Actually you can't afford a home because they inflated ~200% over five years, so scratch that one. Oh yeah - the cost of a home isn't in the core CPI either. Whew!
Ron Paul is our last best only hope for the future. I did like Obama but lost it all when he would not vote on the bill to allow bush the younger to attack Iran. And worse than Obama is Clinton voting for the bill wtf. Old bill said it best 'cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war'
There is a very simple explanation for Dr. Paul's low polling numbers. All polling is done over land lines. Anyone under 35, who do you know that actually uses a house phone? Um.... that would be literally noone for me.
The straw poll results have been very consistent with the money he has raised (both very good).
Now just imagine if he got 1/2 of the media attention the major candidates had.

I saw the look on Bernake’s face when he said “we will certainly make sure that doesn’t happen “(inflation).
He was smirking. He was lying!
If the American people were stupid enough to vote for Bush twice against their best interests.I guess they are stupid enough not to vote for Ron Paul who is the only candidate to be looking out for the people's interest now. They will just pick their bullshit canidate the msm tells them to. Lazy asses, won't even spend the time to do some critical thinking on their own and see what these so called front runners are really out to screw them for.Close your eyes and bend over again, you deserve it!
Smart people use internet. Dumb people don't.
Dumb people get called by pollsters. smart people don't.
Brilliant!
"How can Ron Paul be so popular on the internet and single digits in the polls?
Doesnt compute."
A friend of mine recently got a call from some pollsters for a mainstream publication. The woman on the phone asked who he supported in the primaries and he immediately answered "Kucinich". The lady then replied "Who?". Turns out she was only allowed to take a tally of candidates on a list she was given in advance and Kucinich wasn't even on the list.
Ron Paul tells it like it is, I like that. But those initials RP have haunted me since 1992. Ross Perot, the spoiler who allowed Clinton #1 to win. Hope this RP doesn't allow Clinton #2 to win.
Honestly, now, we all know the powers that be would never allow us a President Ron Paul. By hook or by crook, they will ensure that the office goes to Clinton or Guiliani.
they have already destroyed the value of the dollar..and yes it can get worse...
if there was such a high percentage of pot users once whose lives were put into such disregard by the politicians, why has the shoe not turned, as the demographics did, but for the fact of what disregard of lives could be vested onto those that now seem the predators???by the week willed or ? in not being done, by those that show more concern toward / to others lives.....
One can argue that the dollar was F'd anyway. If he held or raised rates, banks were surly going to fail (probably within days...) That would sour investor sentiment and they would leave US equities in droves. It's not like the US stock market is based on fundamentals... And what do we call things that are based on perceived value? A Bubble.
The dollar has been propped up over the last few years by Asia (most notably China) Again, what do we call things that are not based on fundamental value? A Bubble.
They're all linked. The RE Bubble is popping, if there where no cuts and banks failed the Stock market bubble would likely pop and that would be enough to drive foreigners away and the dollar bubble pops.
The fun is that if the dollar bubble pops first, the RE and stock bubbles are going to pop, but you may only notice them popping if you look at the value adjusted for the dollar.
The best part is that the Sub-prime (and Alt-A) BS is still there. It's not over by a long shot and banks are still going to fail. So the only thing that Ben-Dover did was delay the inevitable.
We've been F'd for a long time. In 03 when the housing market really started to scream Wide FN Open it was time for the FED to slam the brakes. It's too late now, it's just a question of how bad will it get.
I told my daughters just the other day to go into their class rooms and tell the other kids to tell their parents to vote Ron Paul....if they say who is that...I told them to tell them to go to Ron Paul.com...vote Ron Paul.....
And the first 2 posters...are complete morons...and with IQ's in the 0.004% digit range...
I hate stupid people

RP has stated on a few occasions that he will not consider running as an independent, likely because him doing so would have the same effect, and he knows it.
If he actually gets the nomination, I would consider him a lock, especially against Hillary. It is getting the nomination that is the hard part.
To the person whose misguided since of morality led him/her to write that it would be better for our economy to disintegrate than to have a future president (Ron Paul) who would protect the lives of unborn children:
Are you serious? Where in the constituion does it say anyone has the right to terminate human life? Are you arguing that a fetus is not a human life? Did you know that you were once a fetus? We have laws currently on the books in many states that make it a felony to kill an unborn child if that child does not belong to you (i.e., Scott Peterson killing his wife Laci and unborn child). If life is sacred in crimes such as that, why would it be any less sacred if the expectant mother is the one that "pulls the trigger" (decides to abort)?
I wonder what planet some people are on when they can read the HR that Ron Paul proposed regarding abortion and think that it is somehow morally wrong or radical?
I was on the fence before about considering a vote for Ron Paul in the presidential election. But, now that I know (a) his stand on protecting human life, and (b) the kinds of irrational, immoral people who stand on the other side, well that just made my decision for me. I will be voting for Ron Paul, for the sake of our economy, and future generations of children.

Well Mark good move for sure, but have you considered, that if and when the USofA has another terrorist attack and all flights in and out of the USofA are grounded until further notice and Martial Law is enacted ..how do you expect to retrieve your offshore wealth...just thought i would throw that out there...something to consider.
Most people in the USA have no idea. Most people here think America is great, rich, and everyone in the world wants its culture. They have no clue that the USA is 9 Trillion in debt, no clue tht the USA borrows 2 Billion a day, because it can NOT pay its bills, no clue many in the world do not want a nation of fat mutts telling them what is what, and no clue many in the world do not want American culture imposed on them. Ron Paul does not have a chance because many in the USA have no clue yet as to the economic, cultural, and political reality of the USA. If you think you are great, then you do not need help.
So speaking of Nut Job...the Above poster ...thinks the only issue about a candidates worth..is his or hers abortion stance..give me a f@cking break,,,,that argument is so old..it is stale...get over it already.
Unfortunately there are many here on this Blog that should have been aborted..you being one of them.
Ron Paul's $5M shows that people in this country have a lot of money to waste.
Ironic that the same people who say we're in a depression and the economy is dead have money to burn on a candidate who will maybe get 1% of the vote
And WTF is this now? Paul is getting 1% in the polls because young, tech-savvy intelligent people don't answer the phone?
Hmmm then who excactly is telling pollsters they support Obama? Old retired white people sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring?
Here we go again. HP speaking from both sides of its mouth.
Face it HPers, your candidate is a fringe candidate. he is the Dennis Kucinich of 2008. He has a following that is fierce and loyal but miniscule. If he gets 1% of the actual votes it will be a small miracle.
For a bunch of supposed smart people you are dumb as fuck if you can't realize that.
Ben Bernake has the same look I have on my face when my kid tries to convince me he needs another video game...you know the whatever you say little Ronnie, whatever you say.
I'm sorry was that Karl Marx giving a speech? Tax the rich. Soak the rich. Kill Wall St. Long live the working man!!! Did this guy just finish reading Das Kapital or something?

Funny, I didn’t hear that at all. All I could hear was a question on moral hazard and the destruction of the dollar that wasn’t answered. All I could hear was the implication that the current administration is reckless in their policy. Then you come along as "anonymous" to make inflammatory and untrue statements. The price for the easy credit stock and housing economy are here. There is no going back and more credit won’t fix it. It does not matter what BB says. We will all pay dearly.
does anyone here REALLY think RP has a chance in hell? be honest now.
Im a Democrat and am really considering Donating and Backing Ron Paul. Thank you Housing Panic for mentioning him months ago..I have had my eye on Ron Paul and the more I see the more I like.
It seems that all the candidates whether Democrat or Red think they are on the show American Idol campaign.
I like the back to politics and whats best for America not what plays well TV.
For those that say Ron Paul doesnt have a chance are totally wrong.I remember back in college there was ONE guy standing alone by a stop sign waving a Clinton sign. We were all like whose that? Well after the Gary Hart affair..Clinton made a run and the rest is history. I like Hillary but now she is to Idol for me. Ron Paul might make an interesting story as all the Red campaign stars suck and wont win no matter what! The underdog might make it.
GenX
As the Dollar begins its path back up to normalcy, RPs ratings will continue to decline.
It amazes me that some of the folks on here seem so smart in some areas, but are totally off
on other areas.
In general i don't really get Mr. Ron Paul, for me he comes across as someone who gets large gifts from the Saudis etc.
Here is my prediction
1) this is the last week of Dollar decline vs other paper currencies.
logic = the Dollars value is based on representing the most stable economy on earth the USof A
and Europe's delayed housing decline is gaining momentum.
2) Hillary will be the first Woman President
logic = the extreme Christian religious right (those who 'all values are sexuality based') have been bashing
the Clintons and mentioning their names at least 10 times a day, from the day Bill took office to date.
This incredible amount of free advertisement naturally places Hillary on top
blah blah blah

blah blah blah
raise taxes on the rich

If anything, RP is in favor of decreasing taxes on the wealthy.
Turn on your ears, Corky.
FLASH:
Ron Paul is at 0.0006% support and surging. He picked up the support of Tim in Knoxville, TN, which doubles his support in the state.

I am voting for him weather he is a winner or not.

Jambu, that point was already raised by a fake dopes (me) in mock dopes thread.
I believe that traditional polls still only hit people with landlines- this may overlook younger voters more amenable to Paul and regardless introduces significant sample bias.
