Century 21 trying desperately to fend off Redfin and the internet. Good luck with that.

Think someone's a bit paranoid that the internet, and discount commission outfits like Redfin, are about to send them and their 6% packing?

Why use a Century 21 realtor? Because they watch your eyes! Funny, I thought it was because computers look silly in yellow jackets.

Barf.

And I love this hilarious youtube response someone did to Century 21's stupid ad:

Gee, the computer sounded more American than the live body. After she's finished her flied lice, she needs more speech work.

In the area (so Cal) that i live in, it must be a requirement to be south east asian to be a realtor!

Only funny because, five years ago it was a 98% old white retired area
The language barrier is unbelieveable at times!

At our local post office in San Diego, it is a retirement area as well.....all old grouchy white men!

It is very entertaining to stand in line and watch the language barrier at work!

All Asian employees, and some can barely speak english!!!!!!!

English is the second language of America!

Nice. My wife was commenting as we drove around the Bay Area yesterday that we see a lot of for sale signs, and a huge number of different outfits, but "what happened to Century21?" We saw maybe 100 signs, and honestly, zero C21 signs.

Very funny comment over at OCRenter - now that REALTORS (tm) capitalize their titles - how about SANITARY ENGINEER (tm)?

I never realized this until I got out a stack of business cards (every third person I meet here in SD is a REALTOR(tm). . .and yes, they are all in caps!!

A couple of the smarter ones are now FORMER REALTORS(tm). .

Everything the realtwhore says is true but only if the agent is not out to put the screws to you, which they all are. I got taken to the cleaners by an realtwhore because they actually withheld all the info the agent in the video said she disclosed as making her service more advantegous over the use of a computer. FYI: Computers do not lie, cheap and manipulate you to screw the buyer by putting them into a home & toxic mortgage that pays the agent and his or her friends the most. Nuff said, go internet, go redfin, go zip realty, go FSBOs the future of the 6% agent is very dim, get with the program and hang ten on the new wave, the housing boom has shown how greedy and out moded your monopolistic cartel really is, good bye!!

Watch your eyes??? Tell you what...if I know I'm in love with a house, you don't have to tell me, OK?

Really stupid ad.

Pure Genius!

That Realtor ad is so pompously stupid it makes my head hurt.

I don't recall travel agents taking out ads before they all went away

Seems like a waste of money and time

Even friends have teeth and only mountian lions and men kill for fun! Why should I expect different from a realtor?

Anonymous said...

The last time I did a century 21 listing there were 40 pages of disclaimers protecting them and NOTHING protecting me! So with FSBO's and internet agents I save money and actually limit my liability while getting rid of the profit motive of an agent that does not care about anything except the commission check!

Err speak for yourself there amigo. Last 10 or so suits I have bought have been tailor made. Amazing how on HP everyone makes $200K a year, yet nobody buys tailor made suits and everyone freaks out that milk is up $1.

I counted myself as having made it when I no longer had to wear suits everyday.

But to the point, I agree with your amigo. The realtor-tailor comparison seems apt.

Me too. But the last batch of shirts were made by Hong Kong tailor. $40 bucks each [including shipping. Way better than you can imagine.

Custom made shoes at $160 per pair also. Send him a picture or your old favorite shoe and here comes a new pair.

So if you are not wearing tailored suits, you dont make 6 figs? LOL.
Sorry pal this is 2007, not 1987 circa Wall street.

BTW... 3 day suit brokers and Nick the greek in downtown LA doesnt cut the mustard in the tailored suit arena.

A 'typewiter repair shop'. Almost everyone still has a typewriter setting around, but where in the world would you get it fixed?

==================================

You are a slow one. It's not the suits per se. It is the class warfare mentality of "the rich" get tailor made suits. As if "the rich" are some evil group that must be destroyed. People who make $200K - as all HPers claim - don't think like that. And people who make $200K don't give a shit about the price of milk. Yes many people who make that much live frugally. But that is a different story than freaking out if milk is up $1 or gas is up $1.

Get it now spanky or do I need to break it down for you even more?
