Casey Serin has flown the coop - now in Australia, iamfacingforeclosure.com blog back up, and HP'ers vote Keep Casey or Dump Casey

OK HP'ers this is your chance. In true Larry the Lobster form. This thread will decide it.

A) Keep Casey - I keep you up to date on the kid's adventures

B) Dump Casey - I never post about Casey or Iamfacingforeclosure.com again. Ever.

First 100 votes with logged on addresses, we'll count 'em up, and majority rules. Don't get 100 then it's not a vote.

Yes, I’m here in Australia. The rumors are true. But a lot of people are slanting the story to make it seem worse than it is. These people are spreading crap about me to ruin anything left of my name and ruining the reputation of everybody who is associated with me.

No, I did not leave my wife penny-less and run away to Australia! It’s amazing how some people are trying so hard to sabotage my efforts to make an honest buck through my story/publicity

Dump him please. Robert is doing a bang up job over at Exurban. Casey has milked his 15 minutes far more than a room temperature IQed individual should be allowed. Prefer to read about him in the obits column.

My vote: Keep posting... It's kind of fun being one of the "haterz"...

Anonymous said...

Keith, you're wasting your time putting this to a vote. You have a personal bond with Casey and it's your blog. To think that you could ever cut it off is misguided.

The guy is something. Most people would say work two jobs (60+) hours a week and at least make it seem like you're trying to do the right thing. Now he's flown the coop. Too bad Australia has extradition treaties with U.S. So that ain't going to work for long. Besides, Australia has a housing bubble too. His act will get stale there real fast and then he'll be off to the next locale. If he wants to really get away from America's reach, he best head for Yemen and ask for political asylum. Then Al Qaeda can train him to become The American Taliban #2 and he can come back to the U.S. and do the Morning Talk Show circuit.

Casey, provided he doesn't off himself, is in the early stages of his journey through the absurd. And he can blog from anywhere. He'll be a human Wikipedia by the time he's 70.

Maybe he ought to go to Albania so he too can get a hero's welcome?!?

I would consider a post reporting his lynching at the hands of an angry mob, but only if there is a confirmed ID of the corpse from a reliable source.

Dump.
First, HP is not the primary source for Snowflake news. Don't be derivative. There's a place for Casey news--and I admit to being an addict, too--but it need not be everywhere.
Second, said flake is going to keep up his BS until he is actually, physically, put in a cell. It is endless.
Third, and most importantly: Flake's story now is not about housing, or the economy, or even facing foreclosure (it's already happened five times over) but about his own mental illness. Not really part of the HP portfolio, I think.

Casey is way too entertaining to not keep track of him.

Everyone is good for "something" . . .
Casey is good, "for a bad example."

Lou Perlman (boy band promoter, turned apparent fugitive) just got arrested in Indonesia . . . don't you want to blog about it, when Casey gets his due.

Keep up the Casey news.

Keep blogging about that fool Casey.

Casey is old news, not interested anymore. We hacked on him enough.

I say keep posting. If I may paraprase a line from "an interview with a vampire" Casey Serin represents the "spirit of our age".

I have tried to keep away from commenting on Casey Serin on my blog. But the guy keeps on surprising me. It is impossible not to talk about him.

Lose Casey and you lose part of the housing crash story. Agian, keep him on the blog.

Anonymous said...

P.S. Besides in the big scheme of things he's a small time player.

B) Dump his sorry, worthless pathetic ass.

I'm pretty sure how this story ends, and I just don't care.

Keep Casey,

It is like a strange ongoing train wreck, one is almost unable to look away. Plus it is your blog, pick what you want to pick, if I or others do not like a story they can skip it and wait for the next piece.

Anonymous said...

Keep posting, it's like watching a train wreck. Sad and fascinating, but I can't look away.

If the dude has something to say, let's hear it. He is a public figure in the real estate crash, so he should be covered.

However, he hasn't had anything to say since he told everyone his story. Now he is just popping up with, "IM STILL HERE!"

Why would anyone give a crap about the guy checking in, telling us where he lives, etc...

Real estate news is one thing.
Turning Casey into Paris Hilton so we can obsess about him is lame.

Out at the peak said...

This is a tough choice. I think he's at the end of his rope. I vote to only have an update when there is a huge development. Such as him getting a divorce or arrested.

Bear Stearns fund facing mortgage losses: WSJ

Market News
Stocks climb with oil sector
Bonds rise slightly as buyers look for bargains
Dollar rises above 123 yen to 4-1/2-year high
More Business & Investing News... NEW YORK (Reuters) - A hedge fund managed by Bear Stearns Cos. Inc. (BSC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) is scrambling to sell large amounts of mortgage-backed bonds in a potentially troubling sign for the broader mortgage-backed bond market, The Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition.

Bear Stearns' High-Grade Structured Credit Strategies Enhanced Leverage Fund is facing losses and, together with a sister fund, is trying to sell about $4 billion in bonds to raise cash for redemptions and to prepare for likely margin calls, according to the report, which cited people close to the fund.

Market sources told Reuters on Wednesday that Bear was aiming on Thursday to sell $3.8 billion of asset-backed securities backed by subprime loans.

Bear Stearns was not immediately available for comment.

Bids for the bonds, many of which are backed by risky subprime mortgages, are due on Thursday, shortly after Bear reports quarterly results. The fund could be shut down if the sale is not a success, the Journal reported.

As much as I dislike him, he serves as one of the preeminent representatives of all that is is wrong.

Adam said...

I agree, dump the guy.

My main concern is his little shenanigans are only distracting at this point, pulling off the focus on the larger story of corruption that has thoroughly screwed up the housing market. The problem is bigger than Casey, so don't let him serve as a distractor.

The only further info I want to read on that looser (sic) is when he's:

1) arrested

2) serving time in Fed prison for mortgage fraud.

Anything less than that is just enabling him to continue being an idiot, and a distraction.

Why does it have to be "all or nothing"? I would vote to stop posting unless something really big happens, like, he goes to jail.

Casey does not need you anymore. His training wheels are off. His book deal in place. His marriage in shambles. Whether or not he needs you is not even on his radar.

The real question is how much you need him as a scapegoat in the town square being flogged with a whip and being made an example of.

You need him more than he needs you.

Unknown said...

ok after reading some posts, i change my vote: keep

he is 'the spirit of the age' as the other guy said.

hopefully someone will get rich investing wisely and by working a w-2 job and then start a blog about it. then you can link to him!!! (take dat casey!)

I dare any of you to do so.

Anonymous said...

With a failed entrepreneurial experience around the same age, I have a bit of sympathy for the guy. It does make one insane and somewhat unemployable, being on top of what you sincerely believe to be a brilliant idea only to watch it crash and burn.

That being said, there's nothign particularly novel or creative about doing cash-back financing and flipping properties. And he is an effete flake who is disgracing his family.

So given my sympathy, I vote no. The attention he's receiving is perpetuating his stupidity.

As a U.S. Citizen he gets a 90 day tourist/visitor visa. After 90 days he has to leave--and unlike "other" countires, this is enforeced fairly stringently. If an employer sponsors him and pays 5 grand in legal fees he can get a temporary work visa--also enforced. However, our immigration policy is point based and the person wanting to be a resident or citizen must have a number of skills, education to be eligible. My point--he will be back in U.S.A where he belongs--Vegas or Miami is his kind of place not Oz.

Dump Casey. He resisted or screwed up any help offered to him, has lost all of his houses to foreclosures (if the one in UT hasn't yet it will soon) and is now just a little flopper on the run. I will occasionally look him up on caseypedia, but my interest is reduced to the question if the justice system can and will punish him and his like, for example by denying bankcruptcy protection and force him to give everything above the poverty level to his creditors for a long time. Sweet.

Keith,

I give thumbs up but on one condition.

His blog has gotten entirely boring since his last foreclosure.

Anonymous said...

So the kid's a few sandwiches short of picnic and is the exemplar of the naivety, avarice, deception and slight of hands that produced this mess. He's the zeitgeist for the boom boom paradigm. We've got popcorn haven't we? I don't hate the guy personally, he just took the bait that's all. We didn't. C'est la vie.

Anyway looks like he's turned up at one of the local Holden dealerships and swindled a 'test drive' probably, or faking 'success' just like the cheesey clerk/ho's in their pimp leases. -It's not as if Casey would be be hard to find with a trail of destruction like his afterall. It's already flipped out over in Aus anyway, so it's not like he can do anymore damage, plus Aussies are pretty level headed and may actually beat some sense into the crazy little flipped out kid. Unless a croc eats him first.

I'm in New Zealand (not that far away from Aus relatively) and we have the mother of all bubbles here as well. Except most of the punters haven't got a clue what's happening and why there's a smell of napalm in the morning. The MSM and the clerks have it stitched up nice and pretty over here. Personally I feel lucky to have found HP after thinking WTF(!) is going on, while absolutely getting no sense out of anyone around me. I found HP and got myself a whole new insight. I just wanted a place to call home but people would think you were nuts not to be getting into the 'don't be priced out'...'everyone's doing it'...'not making more land' mentality. So the kid got lured in, that's what it was designed to do wasn't it? He's just the one the pawns in the global chess game, if we all aren't at some level?

Maybe he ends up crossing the Nullarbor desert on a camel, meets an Aborginal that has a boomerang and a water pouch, gets the bigger picture and decides to dedicate his life to building houses for people who really need it? -I doubt it somehow.. but I say keep him.
