An HP Trial Balloon: Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the next President of the United States, Al Gore.

Have at it. Gore got a shot?

And who are you supporting (so far) in the '08 race (if anyone)?

On the Dem side watch Gore jump in. On the Rep side watch Bloomberg and Fred Thompson jump in. Although Bloomberg might just run as an independent, and finance his own campaign.

The field is not the field yet, especially on the Rep side - what a field of losers. More to come.

But oh, what a mess the winner will have on his hands.

(and yes, I intentionally said "his" because there's no way in hell Hillary wins)

Obama on the left. Thompson on the right. And Bloomberg in the center. That'd be an interesting race.

Hey, it's been the private equity bubble which has been juicing the stock market. It's been evident in all of the M&A activity, and it's even bigger than the housing bubble. CNBC reported yesterday The Carlyle Group sent out a piece to their memebrs saying there's enough liquidity in the system to keep things going for 1 more year, but thereafter...

Gore again?!? Oh c'mon, he had his shot in 2000 and he lost..er well he sort of...ummmm... Well OK then. He kinda won in a way but don't tell George Jr.

As far as the field for '08, who cares. It will just be more of the same. We are so screwed.

Dude Hillary is way too powerful to discount, sorry. Your boy Obama is a side of gravy compared to the Clinton war machine. Whoever called the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton dynasty plot a few months back was dead on. The Bush win was masterminded by the Clintons' for this very purpose -- Kerry/Edwards '04... what a Joke. Everyone else is part of the side act.

And Thompson is drumming up this cancer thing as a cop out. I would be too - I'd rather be acting in L&O and livin it up Hollywood than going up against that. "Yes, no that's not a pimple that's lymphoma, now leave me the F alone."

Guys, you better arm yourselves with iron cups, cause the ball bustin days are coming...

Frankly they are all lame but I think a policy of ABH--anybody but hillary is a wise move. I also believe he will enter the race, but I don't think he has a chance. He has tried to position himself as 1) THE environmentalist candidate and 2) a great thinker. We have seen the latest info on his environmental scams and Gore's military records show that his IQ is less than GW Bush's. Watch the CIC (Clinton Industrial Complex) jump all over these "issues" when Gore enters the race.

Democratic presidential candidate and New York Senator Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that it might be necessary for America to confront Iran militarily, addressing that possibility more directly than any of the other presidential candidates who spoke this week to the National Jewish Democratic Council.

Clinton first said that the US should be engaging directly with Iran to foil any effort to gain nuclear weapons and faulted the Bush administration for "considerably narrowing" the options available to America in countering Iran.

Iran's deputy interior minister, Muhammad Baqer Zolqadr, said Thursday that his country would attack Israel and American targets throughout the world if Teheran were attacked over its nuclear program, Israel Radio reported.

According to the official Iranian news agency, the official, who deals with defense issues, said that no American would be safe from Iran's long-range missiles.

"We are prepared to fire tens of thousands of these missiles every day," he said.

As a republican (someone who believes in fiscal responsibility and worships the freedoms of the Constitution in the same way the freaky Bible Beaters worship the Old Testament), I feel that the only important thing that happens in 2008 is that the Democrats take the Whitehouse. I'm not cynical enough to want to see the economy fall apart on their watch, I just want the Republicans to understand that their shameless spending is unacceptable.

You really have no idea of what "rightwing" means, do you?

Gore is a fiscal conservative.

As long as he insists on his "old school" style of campaigning, which is derived from his father's day, and not acting his natural self, which is a "guy you'd invite over for barbeque", then history is likely to repeat itself and he will lose.

I thought Inconvenient Truth was in large part an indictment of the System. That Gore was going to work from grass roots rather than top-down.

Gore: not his time. He is vindicaated in a sense, but Americans are always searching for a fresh face. That's not Al. Plus he ran a timid campaign in 2000. Hard core Dems won't want to bet on him again.

Hillary: I still don't understand her appeal, but if she gets the nomination she probably wins the presidency. No matter whom they nominate, the Reps have a lot to overcome in the public's mind. Maybe Giuliani could beat her.

Obama: A fresh face for sure. Was a naysayer on the war from day one. Consensus builder.

Bill Richardson: a governor with very strong foreign policy experience. Also a consensus builder. Watch him if Obama falters.

Bloomberg: a very smart, talented, level-headed guy. Good long range thinker. Is he really in it?

Here's a new rule:
Be f***ing specific! Before you spout off about "too liberal" this and "too conservative" that, have the intelligence and common courtesy to mention what issue you are talking about!

Giuliani is "too liberal"?
Well, not about crime, illegal immigration and islamic terrorism.
Not about U.S. energy policy either.

Maybe about gay civil unions, yes.
But if we Americans think that is the ultimate source of the U.S.' national and society problems, then we are all stoned.

Debt and Taxes

Working Americans like lower taxes. So do I. Lower taxes benefit all of us, creating jobs and allowing us to make more decisions for ourselves about our lives. (more...)

American Independence and Sovereignty

So called free trade deals and world governmental organizations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), NAFTA, GATT, WTO, and CAFTA are a threat to our independence as a nation. (more...)

War and Foreign Policy

The war in Iraq was sold to us with false information. The area is more dangerous now than when we entered it. We destroyed a regime hated by our direct enemies, the jihadists, and created thousands of new recruits for them. (more...)

Border Security and Immigration Reform

The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. This is my six point plan: (more...)

Privacy and Personal Liberty

The biggest threat to your privacy is the government. We must drastically limit the ability of government to collect and store data regarding citizens’ personal matters. (more...)

Property Rights and Eminent Domain

We must stop special interests from violating property rights and literally driving families from their homes, farms and ranches. (more...)

Some previous poster said that the war in Iraq is the biggest issue in politics today.

It probably is but it shouldn't be. We will long for these days if we continue down the financial path of ruin we are on. None of the current aspiring cast of clowns wants to make that the focus of their campaign, though doing so would likely get my vote (assuming the candidate is not a total idiot).

In Iraq we need to either commit or get out. The terrorists weren't there when we invaded but they are there now. Right now we are just spanking the monkey, even with the "surge". To commit would be to put 200,000 - 300,000 more troops in iraq and take care of business, make this a war and get the whole population engaged in it. If we can't commit to it (draft?) then admit that we are a bunch of late sipping pansies and get out. If not, then commit and sweep through Iraq like we swept through germany.

There are few things I hate more than a waffler and that is what we are doing in Iraq.

Thankyou Anon 10:46 for the Ron Paul synopsis. Yes, he's the only one that could even BEGIN to clean up this mess. Or at least prevent it from cascading into something even worse than we could imagine.

He's got integrity, common sense and respect for the Constitution and individual rights. He's as steady as they come and on the side of the PEOPLE.

Frankly, I do not think there is one other candidate in the mix, from either party, who is so firmly on OUR side versus the "corporations and the Federal Government".

And get this, he was one of only a handful who voted to NOT go into Iraq? How gutzty was that? When all the other pols were either too stupid or too scared of being called "unpatriotic" to vote "NO" on Iraq, he DID it! Do we really need some idiot who voted us into Iraq to be PRESIDENT next? I think not.

I believe he's the ONLY candidate who would DARE to stand up for the American people over the corporations.

If Americans vote him into office, my faith in Americans will be restored. I think he's the only candidate who can get us headed down a path to healing.

If he took on Obama as a VP, I think they'd make a great pair! Ron Paul for his down to earth common sense as the front leader and Obama as an optomistic, faithful guy who brings up the rear but has little real power.

Ron Paul for President/ Barack Obama for Vice President! I can dream can't I?!

You know I was watching the Repub. response on C-Span about the "surrender bill".

I can't take this anymore, I feel like I'm watching the equivalent of political white trash fight on Dr. Phil. Meaning the primary focus of their energy isn't solving problems or leading, but making sure they get the last trivial shot in (using the political consultant's $100,000 adjective of the day of course) . This goes for both sides of the aisle.

This is what happens when you have a bunch of spoiled frat boys running things. Iraq was just another high school stage where they expected to control the student gov't and invite all the cool people to the next keg party at Bill's (Kristols). The rest of the kids were supposed to fall in line and wish they could "really fit in with those guys from America."

I'm serious, this is about as sophisticated as it gets in the world view of a neocon.

And the Dems couldn't make this transparent before the war? That's why they're so ineffectual.

I really don't care who wins. I'll wait for the third party president in 2012.

Here's another incompetent and corrupt Republican who got busted this week. He was another one of Bush's cronies, which held a high position of Ambassador, while partying with YOUR TAX MONEY. Pay attention to his previous job: worked for the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, and now trying to push drugs, disguised as "Aid", to the rest of the world, at your tax money expense. These crooks transfer your tax money to the pockets of pharmaceutical companies, with the excuse that they are giving "aid" to the poor, just like all those illegal contracts in Iraq from Bush's cronies. Can you add 2 and 2, sheeple? Meanwhile, the US has the most expensive healthcare system and drugs in the world, with 40% of population without any health insurance. The pharmaceutical companies continue to get richer at your expense. As usual, the White House made the announcement on Friday evening, so sheeple like you wouldn't pay any attention, while you are all too tired of spinning that hamster wheel, or too busy buying Chinese crap from the Wal-Mart. Are you guys keeping count of all the scandals since Bush took office? Keep voting Republican...you guys are geniuses! I know, I know, you Republicans struggling to get by, think that it gives some status of sophistication or superiority by saying "I'm a Republican". All those inbred toothless freaks in the red states consider themselves Republicans too. Go figure, getting hammered day after day by Republican crooks, yet continuing to kiss their butts because of a stupid ideology that doesn't exist in Washington anymore. Keep dreaming and feeling "special" when you call yourself a Republican. It's only in your head. Here's one of your leaders, hard at work...with the prostitutes, there is. Pay up, suckers!

"AP - Randall Tobias, head of the Bush administration's foreign aid programs, abruptly resigned Friday after his name surfaced in an investigation into a high-priced call-girl ring, said two people in a position to know the circumstances of his departure.

Tobias submitted his resignation a day after he was interviewed by ABC News for an upcoming program about an alleged prostitution service run by the so-called D.C. Madam.

ABC reported on its Web site late Friday that Tobias confirmed that he had called the Pamela Martin and Associates escort service to have women come to his condo and give him massages. More recently, Tobias told the network, he has been using a service with Central American women.

Tobias, 65, who is married, told ABC News there had been "no sex" during the women's visits to his condo. His name was on a list of clients given to ABC by Deborah Jeane Palfrey, who owns the escort service and has been charged with running a prostitution ring in the nation's capital.

Tobias held two titles: director of U.S. foreign assistance and administrator for the U.S. Agency for International Development. His rank was equivalent to deputy secretary of state.

Rice named Tobias to head the two programs in January 2006, and on Wednesday was at the White House, where President Bush praised his efforts coordinating global AIDS relief. Tobias had been the White House's coordinator for global AIDS relief before taking the USAID post.

Before joining the administration, Tobias was a director and chairman of Eli Lilly and Co., the Indianapolis-based pharmaceutical company."

most people take an IQ test when they are young, you have to take into account the years of hard core drinking and drugs use that most likely destroyed most of Bush's brain cells

Have I told you that the referred Bush's appointee, Randall Tobias, the pharma drug pusher at your tax money expense, promoted sex abstinence and a policy requiring grant recipients to "swear" they oppose prostitution. Yep, that was his program overseeing AIDS relief: buying overpriced drugs from pharma with your tax money and creating a phony market so they can increase earnings. Here we have another Republican Ambassador hypocrite, Bush's close pal, paying $300 / hour to prostitutes from Central America, with tax payer money, while defending sex abstinence and while his wife stays home waiting to get a VD or Hepatitides C from her big shot Republican Ambassador in charge of Aids program. With th help of your stupid and naive vote, this mafia took over the government and it's destroying the entire planet, while advocating "family values" and Cristianism, just like that leader evangelical pastor who likes to take meta-amphetamines during rough sex with a male gay prostitute. Like I said it before, keep being a sheeple, let the mafia in the White House manipulate you, keep believing that Republican ideology still exists, continue to watch Fox News, keep being China's and Karl Rove's bitches. No wonder only 16% of Americans have a bachelor's degree. Booooooo, the bogeyman terrorist is gonna get you, even though more people die by drowning in a bath tube in the US, per year, than by terrorists. Go take a statistics class at the local community college, before you let Cheney and Karl Rove manipulate you. BTW, Jesus freaks, wasn't the world suppose to end today, according to the religious mafia? What's the new excuse this time for not ending, the weather?
