Glengarry Glen Ross is a 1992 movie, based on the 1984 Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winning play of the same name by David Mamet, who adapted it into a screenplay for the film. The film shows parts of two days in the lives of four desperate real estate agents (Pacino, Lemmon, Harris and Arkin) who are prepared to engage in any number of unethical and/or illegal acts (from lies and flattery to bribery, threats and intimidation to burglary) in order to sell undesirable real estate to unwilling prospective buyers ("leads") while the put upon office manager (Spacey) awaits for them to make their sale after the hardnosed corporate boss (Baldwin) gives marching orders to do their jobs.

I always recommend this movie to anybody thinking about getting into commissioned sales. Everytime I see it, it sends shivers through my spine because at one itime, I was a commissioned real estate agent.
And for those thinking of becoming a landlord, I tell them to first rent the movie Pacific Heights with Michael Keaton. You'll never want to be a real estate investor/landlord if you see that movie from about 20 years ago. It's about the renter from HELL and the movie is a classic!

Glengarry Glen Ross Obscenity Count
What a shame, Baldwin wasn’t such a bad actor…
I hear he moved to Iran, didn’t like our foreign policy..
Any one know if those balls are ‘Brass Plated’ or solid Brass?
With the way commodity prices have been lately they could be worth a lot of money.
OMG those brass balls made me wet my pants!

Boy, I'm I tired, but they pay me well.
To Devestment:
"Hanky panky on MLS"- - I have noticed this firsthand - realty signs going up and no MLS for weeks, units coming and going without ever being sold - agree lots of manipulation. We are in the death spiral now with sub-prime and even prime lenders getting cold feet. 10% down is back, and how many Americans can afford that on 600K to one million dollar homes?. . .as is the case with airline BK's, etc. the courts will settle these matter, but it will take years. Meanwhile prices are coming down down down.
Look at Casey's pics on his blogg site. They are great!
It's not real money, mortgage fraud is good, defaults are good for the economy. The economy is strong. Signed, The Ministry of Truth.
Shove those brass balls, the 80K BMW, and that expensive watch up your ass.
How many americans could afford to buy the house they live in today
I see the MLS hanky panky too...I follow the Seattle market on a daily basis and also follow Craigslist for rentals. I even have kept a written tally of a certain condo in the Belltown area...2200 Westlake...one of Paul Allen's Vulcan Construction projects with financing provided to the buyers through Countrywide...just to satisfy myself that the flippers are done...and there are thousands more units to be delivered (I'd just walk away from my 5% deposit now) that haven't even hit the MLS yet.
So...just wanted to say that I'm seeing the same thing.
And GGGR and Pac Heights...perfect examples.
I wonder if Greg Swann is like Alec Baldwin's character when he is in the office.
Coffee is for closers, folks.
Third prize is you're FIRED!
Disturbing movie to put it mildly. I also was scared by Pacific Heights about ever being a Landlord.
Fun with Dick and Jane with Jim Carey and Tea Leoni is a must watch also. It shows what can happen when you lose your job and begin to lose everything. I live in OC and it was reminiscent of the lifestyle of many here and how fleeting it can be if circumstances change. It is meant to be a dark comedy, but since we know what is coming is not going to be good times in our economy it is actually kind of a sad movie.
Talking about reality movies, the movie SUCKERS about car dealer scams is a classic in my book. While not a big name production like GLENGARRY, it still describes real life in car sales and is quite an education for anyone naive enough to think these dealers are honest joes.

Ain't that the truth Mort??? Now, close your browser, and tune in to the MSM's 24x7 coverage of Anna Nicole like a good little prole.
This movie is an absolute CLASSIC!!! Better than "Death of a Salesman"!!!
Capitalism is built on the foundation of imperialism, slavery, fraud/deceptiom, theft/expropriation, and war!!! And it's the best system out there!!! LOL!!! No competition!
What does that say about the human species?! Goethe was correct: "You must be hammer or anvil."
