I say like a virgin, touched for the very first time. Since most homeowners are going to take it in the ass.

Definitely a vote for "Another one bites the dust."

others?

"Crazy" (Patsy Cline)

But the theme song for the complete saga is, without a doubt, the greatest of the great:

"Won't get fooled again" (The Who)

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

I think "Behing Blue Eyes" by The Who. Check out the lyrics. They are appropriate for the realtwhore woes. What a band!!! What a song!!!

No one knows what its like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

No one knows what its like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They arent as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
Thats never free

No one knows what its like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams
They arent as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
Thats never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what its like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

I say it Has to me "Money for Nothing" that is the theme for this whole crash. And don't forget your chicks for free being the realtor whores.

Burning down the house gets my vote.

However, an alternative would be:

"Beds are burning" - Midnight Oil

And for those of us attempting to discern how this idiotic bubble could have formed in the first place, might I nominate this for our theme song:

"Land of confusion" - Genesis

Of course R&R is not rock and roll but REFI's and RELO's

Always wondered about this song, who is Marconi and why does HE play the MAMBA? Dam it I want to play the mamba- give some one else a turn

I brought up this topic on this blog a few weeks ago after Keith showed a video of a house on fire.

Somebody mentioned "Foreclosure of a Dream" by Megadeth as an appropriate song. It was recorded in 1992 after the S&L flameout and subsequent recession. I thought it was a good answer. It's the song where the first Bush echoes "Read My Lips" over and over in the latter part of the song.

"Hotel California"

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)
You can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes Benz
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
'Relax,' said the night man,
'We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave!'

How about Dire Straits' "Twisting by the Pool" for the oblivious masses who kept HELOCing all the way through this mess to pay for vacations, pools, etc.:

We're going on a holiday now
Gonna take a villa, a small chalet
On the Costa del Magnifico
Where the cost of living is so low
Yeah, we're gonna be so neat
Dance to the Eurobeat
Yeah, we're gonna be so cool
Twisting by the pool

Sitting in a small cafe now
Swing, swing, swingin to the cabaret
You wanna see a movie, take in a show now
Meet new people at the disco
Yeah, we're gonna be so neat
Dance to the Eurobeat
Yeah, we're gonna be so cool
Twisting by the pool

And we can stil get information
Reading all about inflation
And you're never gonna be out of reach
There's a call-box on the beach

Mmm, you're gonna look so cute
Sunglasses and bathing suites
Be the baby of my dreams
Like the ladies in the magazine
Yeah, we're gonna be so neat
Dance to the Eurobeat
Yeah, we're gonna be so cool
Twisting by the pool

I'm a twisting fool
Just twisting, yeah twisting
Twisting by the pool

"Don Juan" - Lieber & Sotller

The house we moved in, the house we grooved in, the way we waltzed across those marble floors -
You sure did look deluxe in your white tie and tux - up in that big white house that is no longer yours.

The yacht we sailed on, the yacht we wailed on, I got to tell you Don, I loved that yacht -
You used to look so cute in your white sailor suit aboard that big white yatch that you no longer got.

The jet we cruised on, the jet we boozed on, that was the highest I have ever flown -
Your kisses were so sweet, at thirty thousand feet up in that jet that you no longer own.

Don Juan, your money's gone
And when your money's gone, Don,
Your baby's gone.
Don Juan, your baby's gone
Stiff upper lip now, Don
You'll have to carry on.

Don Juan, when you had money,
Don Juan, I was your honey.
But Don, it's gone and so am I.

Soundtrack from Smokey Joe's Cafe the musical.

I’m a Loser Lyrics by UFO:

Last train’s eleven, it’s now quarter past
Why’re you tryin’ to make the evenin’ move so fast
I’m in real trouble but I can’t go back home
They locked the doors and I’m left out alone

* you can come to my place and sleep on the couch
Lots of people do it and we won’t leave you out
Hard times out on the street
Hard times, hard to beat

** the painted lies they all hand you
I’m a loser on the road
I’m a loser on the road, yeah

Euston station and it’s cold as ice
Ali night specials, they move you on
But me and ginger over there
We got this thing where we really take care

* repeat
** repeat

I’m a loser, I’m a loser
I’m a loser

My pick for DURING and AFTER the housing crash:

LOW BUDGET by The Kinks

Cheap is small and not too steep
But best of all cheap is cheap
Circumstance has forced my hand
To be a cut price person in a low budget land
Times are hard but we'll all survive
I just got to learn to economize

I'm on a low budget
I'm on a low budget
I'm not cheap, you understand
I'm just a cut price person in a low budget land
Excuse my shoes they dont quite fit
They're a special offer and they hurt me a bit
Even my trousers are giving me pain
They were reduced in a sale so I should'nt complain
They squeeze me so tight so I cant take no more
Theyre size 28 but I take 34

I'm on a low budget
What did you say
I'm on a low budget
I thought you said that

I'm on a low budget
I'm a cut price person in a low budget land

I'm shopping at woolworth and low discount stores
I'm dropping my standards so that I can buy more

Quality costs, but quality wastes,
So I'm giving up all of my expensive tastes.
Caviar and champagne are definite nos,
I'm acquiring a taste for brown ale and cod roes

Low budget sure keeps me on my toes
I count every penny and I watch where it goes
We're all on our uppers; we're all going skint
I used to smoke cigars but now I suck polo mints

I'm on a low budget
What did you say
Yea I'm on a low budget
I thought you said that
I'm on a low budget
I'm a cut price person in a low budget land
I'm on a low budget
Low budget
Low budget

Art takes time, time is money
Moneys scarce and that aint funny
Millionaires are things of the past
Were in a low budget film where nothing can last
Moneys rare theres none to be found
So dont think Im tight if I dont buy a round

Im on a low budget
What did you say
Yes Im on a low budget
I thought you said that
Im on a low budget
Im a cut price person in a low budget land
Im on a low budget
Say it again
Low budget
One more time
Low budget

[i look like a tramp, but dont write me off,
Ill have you all know, I was once a tough
At least my hair is all mine, my teeth are my own,
But everything else is on permanent loan.
Once all my clothes were made by hand,
Now Im a cut price person in a low budget land.
Im on a low budget
Ill have you all know
Were on a low budget
Im on a low budget]

"Burning For You"-Blue Oyster Cult

Home in the valley
Home in the city
Home isn't pretty
Ain't no home for me

Home in the darkness
Home on the highway
Home isn't my way
Home will never be

Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm living for giving the devil his due

And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you

Time is the essence
Time is the season
Time ain't no reason
Got no time to slow

Time everlasting
Time to play B sides
Time ain't on my side
Time I'll never know

Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I'm not the one to tell you what's wrong or what's right
I've seen signs that we’re freezing and lies that we’re through

Well I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you

Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm living for giving the devil his due

And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you

"Crime of The Century" - Supertramp

Now they’re planning the crime of the century
Well what will it be?
Read all about their schemes and adventuring
It’s well worth a fee
So roll up and see
And they rape the universe
How they’ve gone from bad to worse
Who are these men of lust, greed, and glory?
Rip off the masks and let see.
But that’s no right - oh no, what’s the story?
There’s you and there’s me
That can’t be right

"House" by Elton John

This is my house
This is where I live
That is the winter
Those are the trees
I can hear them breathe
This is my bed
This is where I sleep
That was the dark
Those are my dreams
They belong to me

This is my floor
This is where I lie
This is a square room
That was a bright light
These are not my eyes
What is my soul
Where is my tired heart
That is the question
Where is the answer
Inside my house

And I sit by the window
And I wish I was rain
I want to fall from the sky
I want to get wet all over again

'Cause this my house
It belongs to me
Inside my head
It's all that's left
This is my house
This is my bed
This is where I sleep
That was the dark
Those are my dreams
They belong to me

This is my house

"I don't Care" by Elton John

I got feet sticking out of my shoes
I got heat more than I can use
I got love, I got all I need
I got soles that are wearing thin
I got holes where the rain gets in
I got you and that's enough for me

I don't care, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
I don't care, long as I got your love

Clothes that are falling apart
I got a car that refuses to start
I got love, I do the best I can
I got bills piling up in the hall
I got paint peeling off the wall
I got you, I'm a happy man

"Legal Boys" by Elton John

Your accountant called this morning
There was springtime in his heart
He couldn't wait to tell me
How he'd pulled our lives apart
And the letter from your lawyer
Lies unopened on the tray
I may get around to reading it later today

Walking round the lonely rooms
I see everything the same
But suddenly it matters
What was purchased in my name
Whether this or that was paid for
Belongs to me or you
Can the seven years together be divided by two

It says something for the legal boys
But nothing much for us
That all we had together
Is so quickly ended thus
The legal boys have won again
And you and I have lost
They can't tell us how it happened
But they'll let us know the cost
Oh they'll let us know the cost, oh yeah

There's a lot I'd like to tell you
But I can't get past your guards
I do not speak their language
And they hold all the cards
I would rather call you darling
Than defendant in the case
But lovers left here long ago
And clients took their place

I don't remember the name of this tune or who sung it, but it went like this.

'Money, money, money, makes the world go 'round, give me some, and watch me run;
watch me run, run, 'till it all runs out, and when I'am done, watch them kick me out of their world...'

I'm a penthouse pauper with nothing to do

[Chorus:]
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I'm chasing Nickles and Dimes
The rest of the world passes me by
Nah, Nah, Nah, Im just wasting my time
I'm just sitting here and wondering why?

I'm the high rolling creep that's in too deep

I'm a vagabond king with a stolen crown
I'm a jailhouse poet, a genius, a fool

Cause sometimes life just ain't what it seems.

Wang Chung's to "To Live and Die in LA"
I wonder why I live alone here
I wonder why we spend these nights together
Is this the room Ill live my life forever
I wonder why in la
To live and die in la
I wonder why we waste our lives here
When we could run away to paradise
But I am held in some invisible vice
And I cant get away
To live and die in la

If I let myself go
And for where I just dont know
Id maybe hit some cold new river
That led out to the sea
An unknown sea
Id either swim or Id drown
Or just keep falling down and down
I think its that, that makes me quiver
Just to keep falling down
Down, down, down

Something a little less butt-rockish:

Mr. Bungle - Air Conditioned Nightmare

Inside of me today
There is no one
Only asteroids and empty space
A waste

...They're looking through the windows at me...

Get me out of this air-conditioned nightmare
Rots your brain just like a catchy tune
You will hate life more than life hates you

Happiness is your illness in an air-conditioned nightmare

...Burn all your mementos of me...

Walkin' on air
Up from the wheelchair
I'll find the suicide
That I deserve

Walkin' on sand
Forgotten where I am
But it's so comfortable
Here in the sun...

I only see rainbows
Now that the bandages are gone
Through my window, there

From the skyscrapers
Down to the submarines

Birds and fairies
Sanctuaries
Atop the rolling hills of hell

These words are sledgehammers
Of truth
That pound the iron heart
Of sin

Bloody smiling
Vandalizing
My wet dream is drying up...

Where's my rainbow?
Where's my halo?

There's my halo!

Lyrics from "Foreclosure of a Dream" by Megadeth:

Rise so high, yet so far to fall.
A plan of dignity and balance for all.
Political breakthrough, euphorias high.
More borrowed money, more borrowed time.
Backed in a corner, caught up in the race.
Means to an end ended in disgrace.
Perspective is lost in the spirit of the chase.

/chorus/
Foreclosure of a dream,
Those visions never seen,
Until all is lost,
Personal holocaust.
Foreclosure of a dream.

Barren land that once filled a need,
Are worthless now, dead without a deed.
Slipping away from an iron grip,
Natures scales are forced to tip,
The heartland cries, loss of all pride.
To leave aint believing, so try and be tried.
Insufficient funds, insanity and suicide.

/chorus/

Now with new hope some will be proud.
This is no hoax, no one pushed out.
Receive a reprieve and be a pioneer.
Break new ground of a new frontier.
New ideas will surely get by.
No deed, or dividend. some may ask why?
Youll find the solution, the answers in the sky.

Rise so high, yet so far to fall.
A plan of dignity and balance for all.
Political breakthrough, euphorias high.
More borrowed money, more borrowed time.

/chorus/
