A time capsule of the greatest financial mania in the history of mankind, told in real-time by regular folks and patriots. May future generations better understand the madness of crowds, and how power and money corrupt.

Yeah, boomers. What a bunch of narcissitic commies. Lived in the best times this country had and all they could do in the 1960's was to sh*t all over it.
Ahhh yes - I bunked off school to London to see that, 72, 73? once upon a time; I really thought people would wisen up and take that song to heart - 2 band member deaths( Moon the Loon, Entwhistle recently) and 3 "reunion" concerts in LA later, nope - I was wrong - people will continue to get fooled, again and again and again. All one can hope for is the you yourself get fooled fewer and fewer times and not get taken for too much at any one time. Most of all, being around to experience it all is some kind of victory in its own right - Outlive those thieves and liars - now that's sweet justice.
my nomination---this is the grand, sum it all up, finale.
"Another one bites the dust" is the intermediate bridge of the set.
What's the intro?
Sorry, you x'ers and y'ers. This music lives on even today as the greatest. When I was YOUR age, I wasn't listening to Sinatra or big band. But today, my son can't get enough of the Who, Zepp, Floyd.
One of the greatest songs from one of the greatest bands who put together one of the greatest albums of all time.
Gets my vote.
Gen-X only has Metallica, as its megaband; that's it.
Everyone else, in comparison, is either mediocre or dead (Alice In Chains/Nirvana) and is low on the 'classic' music side. Even U2's earlier stuff is now considered dated (same repetitive cords and licks via Edge, a laughable moniker) and their main appeal is that of another pop darling like Madonna or pre-2000 REM.
And the problem with Gen-X (and Y) is that it's divided on the whole Metallica issue because of Napster and the fact that they can't stand a band which also produces normal (but high end) hard rock in addition to speed metal. What a sad generation when 'Master of Puppets' is cool but a slower yet nearly perfect, 'Bleeding Me', is crap because it happens to be on "Load" instead of the "Justice" CD. That's a generation with no sense of pride or self-worth.
There were two votes for "Dust in the Wind", which cracked me up (as in good call). But that song is more about nihilism. The Who's song (proper title?) is more post-crash, as Anon 7:38 hinted. I nominated a song about a guy who was a big "Don Juan" until he lost his house - it does not get more apropos than that. Forgot to mention "I've Got A Pocketful of Dreams", a Depression-era number sure to make a come-back any minute.
