HPers begin the spin.......NOW!!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The decline in the Manhattan apartment market seems to have been over in a New York minute in contrast to the sluggish U.S. housing market, according to an influential property report released on Wednesday.

In the fourth-quarter, the median price of a home in Manhattan rose 5.1 over the year-ago period, according to the report, the Prudential Douglas Elliman Manhattan Market Overview.

The number of sales during the fourth-quarter rose 15.5 percent to 2,441 from the prior quarter and 55 percent from the year ago quarter. The inventory of homes shrunk 22.2 percent from the third quarter to 5,934 and 0.5 percent from the year ago quarter.

I just had a great revelation for a business idea. I'm posting it here cuz this thread has less posts hence higher chance of getting read.

here goes: i'm going to establish a school that teaches only one class: SIMCITY; basics, strategies, techniques, etc.

I'd recommend the class highly for any person that:
- is going to buy a house
- works in a city municipality
- works for the city in any way
- the mayor
- the city board
- all state employees
- everybody

the goal is to have any idiot understand the effect of taxing, taxes, property taxes, cost of living, etc. feel free to develop this idea further.

Keef, create a thread to discuss simcity and its undeniably highly beneficial impact.

if this thing picks up, we'll have a better educated population.

thank you.

How in the heck did HP not get nominated in the most extreme category? I truly love HP so I think credit should be given where due. I do mean extreme in a good way.

Dear FlyingMonkeyWarrior,

Style is a state of mind.

btw, I appreciate your comments on my blog. You raised some valid points.

Speaking of style one cannot help but notice how fashion and even makeup trends have been influenced by precious metals, particularly gold in the last year or so.

What does this tell us? Who knows.

Perhaps one explanation is that as the USD gets devalued in the wake of this global liquidity/credit bubble people are flocking to real assets that offer a hedge against inflation. Hence the real estate bubble.

Maybe precious metals will be the next bubble after real estate. However, on an inflation adjusted basis gold still has a long way to climb before it takes out it's highs from the early 80's

Speaking of the 80's rumor has it the Police might be having a reunion.

Thanks Sofia.

I follow the Beauty Brain Connection, by Dr. Nicholas Perricone and beauty is from the inside out, to that I agree with you.

The debate rages on; inflation or recession? What wiil the next bubble be? I reckon the next bubble we will see is bankruptcies and/or foreclosures. In other words, a credt default bubble is next, imo.

Wouldn't mind a Police Concert.(;

inflation or recession? why is it a choice? perhaps they are not mutually exclusive, perhaps we get a good dose of some 70's style stagflation - bring back the bell bottoms!
