Yes, the same incompetent and in-over-their-heads crew who gave you the Katrina debacle, the housing bubble and crash, the runaway spending and deficits, Terry Schiavo, Mark Foley and the dollar meltdown... now give you global anarchy. Iran vs. Saudi Arabia - let's get it on!
Oh dear god is 2007 going to be interesting.... I can't wait!
Saudis to back Sunnis if U.S. leaves Iraq
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah has warned Vice President Dick Cheney that Saudi Arabia would back the Sunnis if the United States pulls out of Iraq, according to a senior American official.
The official said the king "read the riot act" to the vice president when the two met last month in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The New York Times first reported the conversation Wednesday, saying Saudi support would include financial backing for minority Sunnis in the event of a civil war between them and Iraq's Shiite majority.
Violence between the two sects has exploded in waves of revenge killings since February's bombing of a revered Shiite mosque in Samarra, north of Baghdad.
The White House dismissed the report.
The Saudi king told Cheney that his country would be forced to step in and support "like-minded Sunni Arabs" if the situation in Iraq fell apart and the Sunnis' safety was in jeopardy, the senior U.S. official said.
The monarch said he would "intervene aggressively on one side absent an American presence," the source said.

What a mess
Why do the Shiite hate the Sunni?
I don't get it!!!
Man, this makes me angry! I think it's time our country figured out how to lower its dependence on Saudi oil. I'm tired of the way we have to kiss the rears of those Arab princes because we're too corrupt and too lazy to start working on fuel alternatives....
I saw this coming long before the Saddam Statue was pulled down. It took a ruthless, iron fist to control the various factions of Iraq. Our ideals of cultural diversity will never fly in that region.
The shias hate the sunnis because they broke apart after the founding of islam regarding the leadership of the religion post-muhammed, kinda like the catholics and the protestants but on a bigger scale
It's actually a very good thing. Wheter intentionally or unintentionally -the nincompoops neo-conservatives- in their "Ivy League save Israel" above all role & the corrupt war profiteering machine that created this mess have triggered a intercine warfare that is going to keep the hands busy of any jihadist.
So it's not so much we fight them over there, so we won't fight them over here. As, they are so busy fighting each other over there that they won't really concentrate on fighting us over here.
And I doubt there will be a winner. It will be a stalemate all the way to the end, until they mellow out and learn the meaning of tolerance. Sort of like Catholics & Protestants which took over 300 yrs to learn to tolerate each other, but still have certain hotspots - like Northern Ireland, that flare up.
Boy, Bush sure delivers on what he promises! From the 2005 inauguration:
"When the Declaration of Independence was first read in public and the Liberty Bell was sounded in celebration, a witness said, "It rang as if it meant something." In our time it means something still. America, in this young century, proclaims liberty throughout all the world, and to all the inhabitants thereof. Renewed in our strength - tested, but not weary - we are ready for the greatest achievements in the history of freedom."
Good to see our great achievements in the history of freedom coming along so nicely!
Oh, sorry, I forgot...freedom is messy....really, really, really messy.
I was m*sturbating while reading that.
A real religious war with oil embargoes, beheadings, explosions (maybe nuclear!), round-the-clock coverage and hot blond chicks drooling over the corpses and economic calamity. Priceless!
Do you realize how boring the news would be without Arab-Muslims?
"Our" dependence on Saudi oil isn't that great, but the REAL dependence is on oil period. No matter where it comes from.
Even if we bought NO saudi oil, it wouldn't matter. We'd still pay the world price for it, so what difference does it make where it comes from? IF the Saudis cut supply, our oil prices go up, even if we don't buy it from them.
Such is the nature of a commodity market. SA is the biggest producer.
Bush is the least conservative president since FDR.
Conservatives look at teh way things are and say "maybe they are that way for a reason. Maybe it would be a mistake and have unforseen consequences to just 'upset the apple cart'".
Bush is a liberals liberal. He wants to change the world and make it 'democratic' and 'free'. And bring 'liberty'..blah blah blah. IT's like he's on a mission from God.
Now we understand why Saddam Hussein was so cruel. You have to be cruel in that whacked out country. Otherwise it falls to pieces.
I'm not sure if this country can survive another 24 months of these imbiciles
the so-called civil war in iraq is deliberately fostered and well orchestrated by US and British military intelligence

Worst president of a lifetime? I voted for him, but I'd consider taht generous.
Maybe LBJ was worse. Nixon wasn't. Carter was ineffectual and weak, but that would be an improvement.
Maybe Woodrow Wilson was worse. Started the whole 20th century off by joining into WWI. Which led to WWII. Which led to the cold war. After saying he'd keep us out of war.
In the end, Bush will probably destroy the republican party and be considered one of the worst presidents ever.
This is all for public consumption. Do not believe anything you hear or read. The powers that be play the public like a violin. Full of crap is what they are.
By one account Iraqi Sunnis going to Mecca were returning with boxes full of money from Sunni Arabs supporting the Sunni insurgency. American soldiers were caught in the crossfire of the civil war. It seems there were no weapons of mass destruction. Efforts to democracize Iraq went some distance until the government asked the Bush coalition to leave, then plans for democracy were canceled. The half trillion dollars of DOD security money spent to try to secure oil for the US would have been better spent in rapid development of the Gulf of Mexico deep shelf areas, and on several million barrels of coal to oil synthetic fuel capacity. Before Bush ran for office his oil company 'Abusto' went broke because they drilled too many dryholes. This was before he was president. Should not have put him in charge of looking for oil for the US.
The Saudis gave money to G W Bush, "dubbua", as his dad was president and they needed Bush family support. Thus the hand holding closeness shown in several photos. The Saudi hijackers hit the world trade center and Iraq caught hell for it.
IMHO
Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah has warned Vice President Dick Cheney that Saudi Arabia would back the Sunnis if the United States pulls out of Iraq...
There is nothing to worry about.
Whatever the expense, whatever the death toll, whatever the level of destruction -- the US will not pull out of Iraq!
The bush OIL administration couldn't even ask for a Candy Bar in Arabic when it invaded Iraq. I'm uncertain if Bush could even ask for one in English without help from his handlers.
Their Pipe Dreams of $2 per barrel Iraqi OIL before Profits is getting very Expensive in Blood and Treasure to the US Taxpayers. Screw impeachments..America should wake up and JAIL these Criminals, Thugs and Hoodlums ASAP !
I was m*sturbating while reading that.
------------
Hope you didn't stab yourself with the tweezers.
bush wants another 100 billion for the war!!
or maybe that 100 billion for the saudis to keep oil coming our way
The Sunni recognize the danger from militant Shiaism more than Europe or Russia or China, all who have worked hard to ensure that the Bush adventure in Iraq fails. The consequences of failure are immense.
America was the wrong country to topple Iraq because our values are incompatible with the tough measures needed to control a tribal society.
It as a mistake to invade, period.
The problem is people hate Bush more than they hate the slaughter of thousands of Iraqi and are willing to see Bush get a black eye and worry about the real consequences later.
Had Europe and other Sunni nations assisted the US in the invasion things would have turned out differently. Had the Sunni worked with the US rather than start the insurgency they might not now be in the situation they are in currently.
Just one question....... What kind of faggot wants to have his hand held by another man?
