Ex-sportscaster who cares what he says. Like Matt Damon what does he know. Let's pretend the world is great and hide behind our gated communties. Keep the borders open because were getting the best of the best flowing over the borders. 30 years from now this country will have some serious changes. I don't think it will be a better place. You better hope you and your family are not part of the hard working group that has to live among the low to average wage earners. The elite make the rules that the major have to live with. So who cares about the actors or tv heads. I might listen to colin powell or someone who has been through some stuff. Barrack Obama what the hell has he done. I'm not talking about degree's.

Housing bubble has hardly started!!!

For a slightly different take on Keith Olberman and his ilk, read this: http://tinyurl.com/ymg39t
Excerpt:
“George W. Bush is not stupid. It’s not possible to be a moron and fly a supersonic jet fighter, and everyone knows it.”

“People like Michael Moore and Bill Maher and Keith Olberman would not be able to figure out how to close the canopy on an F-102. These people would be weeping with fear when those afterburners light up and you barrel down that runway hoping that engine doesn’t flame out and roll you inverted into the asphalt, or when you’re rocketing through the soup at 300mph watching two little needles chase each other, praying the next thing you see out the window is a runway and not a mountain goat.”

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MAN: It's not the housing market but rather the derivatives market everyone should be worried about. At a rate of growth of 25-50% a year, there's a HUGE bubble in the derivatives market. Why? Because derivatives are being used by the big banks as insurance for mortgages going bad. Who is the ultimate guarantor for the derivatives (presently $370 trillion)? But then someone might deduce what's going on with derivatives is an atmosphere of 'double or nothing' over and over.

It's highly unlikely that anyone will heed your warning. In 1998 LTCM was the biggest known derivatives explosion. When this happens again, then watch out, there will be no stopping it.

Keith,

I think your blog is pretty cool. I was saying bubble bursting for a long time and nobody listened. So it's nice to see others who saw the writing on the wall back when.

But recently this has gone in the loonie left direction. Barack in '08? Praising Keith Olberman? If I want this kind of crap I can read dailykos.

Get back to topic at hand please.

re: derivatives market
Yup, I totally agree - the problem is that it is so freakin' opaque that it defies any real understanding.

Even the ones where some sort of published market data exists are so exotic, its gives me a headache just reading the description. You tried to understand the hot-in-2006, those Constant Proportion Debt Obligations ?
http://www.creditflux.com/primers/glossary/c/constant_proportion_portfolio_insurance.htm

Then there's the fact that they are often not exchange traded (public, with a 3rd party, the exchange like the CBOT as the party you have a contract with ) but OTC(private, single party to single party so nobody has any idea about a particular party being able to meet the obligation entered into, the size of it all, whether prices paid are market efficient...)

I'm told that some derivatives are SO exotic that they really are just a computer algorithm. And since NO computer programs that implement algorithms can (yet) be formally proved how the hell does either party know if the number spat out on a daily mark to market basis actually reflects what they contracted for in the algorithm ?

It makes my head hurt - so I just ignore it. Yup, its the elephant in the room for sure.

A year that along with all the stuff mention above, will help us ask ourselves -the ultimate question.

Are we an Empire or a Democratic Republic?. If we are an Empire, do we acknowledge that we are no longer a Democratic Republic? & we have transitioned (pick your moment) with a Lex Garbinia like event to an Empire -just like the Roman Republic became the Roman Empire.
Are we willing to let go of the Empire driven by military Keynesianism best described & foreshadow by Dwight Eisenhower in his last presidential speech with reference to the Military Industrial Complex, just like England did thru the 50's.? Understanding that at least 50% of Englands willingess to let go of its colonies was based on financial bankruptcy, and the other 50% the real understanding that they would have to lose their democracy, andbecome totalitarians to hold on to their empire.

Tick tock, tick tock -the clock is ticking away- Choose your pill Empire & unitarian presidency -aka- dictatorship or Democratic Republic.

this guy sucks, and Orielly eats his lunch. He has what, 6-8 times the ratings than this bozo? Get real. You Dems all are losers.

Olbermann is very brave to say what he does. I mean, no wonder he pats himself on the back for his bravery.

How many millions has bush locked up in prison camps and exterminated? I mean that's what the Nazis did right? And Bush is a Nazi, so like them, he kills his critics by the tens of thousands. Right? I mean he locked Michael Moore up, oh wait, Michael Moore made a movie that grossed about 100 million. And he hasn't been locked up. Never mind.

Maybe he isn't so brave after all.

Good point. Every time a liberal says some anti-Bush or anti-American tirade he is hailed as brave. If liberals were thrown in jail for speaking out, then yes they'd be brave. But in Hollywood they are given Oscars. Nothing brave about it.

These dolts would be wise to read up on real bravery like Natan Sharansky or Lec Walensa. That was bravery.

Keith Olberman is a well paid liberal TV persoanlity. Not even in the sameballpark.

the "tolerance" and "diversity" liberal view is displayed again. They are tolerant and diverse as long as everyone agrees with them.

"this guy sucks, and Orielly eats his lunch. He has what, 6-8 times the ratings than this bozo?"

Yup, there's a lot more dumb people in America than smart ones

Anonymous said...

Why do you call yourself dumb?

Anonymous said...

More of the liberal "tolerance" and "diversity". To a liberal anyone who disagrees with liberal dogma is either

a) a nazi
b) white trash
c) both and and b

Liberals: Only tolerate a diverse point of view as long as that point of view is in full agreement with theirs.

Therefore Keith Olberman is a brave hero for spouting liberal bullshit. His 400,000 viewers are also brave and smart. O'Reilly's 3 million viewers on the other hand must be a,b or c for daring to seek an alternative point of view from Ollerman's.

Sorry, but Olberdouche is no great orator. He is the monkey to the Daily Kos and DU organ grinder. Says whatever will please the anti-semitic rabid lefties who have never left their parents basement.
