I doubt this will mean anything for the ongoing wars in Iraq. Saddam is yesterdays news.
Funny though how the verdict came just before the election in the US, I mean isn't that an amazing coincidence.

Anyone out there felt any service sector slowdown yet?
Yes, I'm seeing restaurants much less busier and crowded than they were last year. We walked right into a popular steak house last night at 6:15 and got a table for eight. Last year we would have had a 60 to 90 minute wait. I think this is a true indicator of a bubble, because my relatives in the Salt Lake City area say they have never seen restaurants so hard to get into this year. (This year has been bubble mania for SLC.)

We have a bursting housing bubble, combined with unprecedented national debt, an expensive, unpopular war, an upcoming rigged election and Saddam Hussein has now been sentenced to death by hanging. Hussein's death sentence is the least important of item on the list. And, of course, Hussein will file an appeal, thus dragging out the death sentence indefinitely.
In California, a death sentence is meaningless. Maybe in Iraq, the punishment is actually carried out. In any event, the full impact of Hussein's death sentence won't be felt as long as he remains alive.
If Hussein is actually hanged, the long-awaited civil war in Iraq will begin in earnest.

Illegal immigration is the fifth issue. We are a nation of immigrants. We must devise a policy that is fair to new immigrants and that provides people wishing to settle in America fair choices through legal means. Those who have illegally entered the country must not be denied their basic human rights regardless of the method they chose to enter the country. Thus on November 7, we must elect those who view immigrants not as aliens but as human beings deserving a humane status regardless of their legal status.
Additionally, we must also be watchful of those candidates who have spread anti-Islamic sentiments during their previous tenure in office. There are many congressmen who have openly shown hostility towards Muslims. Regardless of their party affiliations they must be given a clear message that Muslim electorates of America will not tolerate racists and bigots in their houses of legislation.

As long ago as 1983, the Chinese had sold Moslem Pakistan the technology for building atomic bombs the size of soccer balls. Pakistan, in turn, had built facilities for mass-producing these weapons and was fully equipped with the ballistic missiles to deliver them. Speaking of fires, a couple of new houses in Virginia Beach, Va were torched in the last few days. Vandals or builders worried and want some insurance money. Anyone else seeing fires out there?

We went into our favorite restaurant Friday night during evening rush hour. Haven't been there in a while, and when we used to go regularly, tried to make it early, 3:30-4:00, to avoid the Friday evening line.
Walked right in around 5:30, got a table immediately, the place never did fill up while we were there, at least an hour, and no one waiting in line for a table when we left.
Doesn’t look good.

Did anyone watch the special on Radical Islam and the movie Obsession? It was a good reminder of what can happen if we allow Radicals of any religion to win. (Hear that Evangelicals?) Still, I'd rather have radical Christians I think after watching that special.
The hatred being spread in Islamic regions and even in the USA, UK, France, but radical islamists. They clearly state they have but one goal, World domination of Islam. Remember, What starts with the jews rarely ends with the jews. Remember Hitler? Then he moved on to gays, liberals, communits, christians, gypsies etc. They radicals call us "cows" and jews, "pigs and monkeys" and that we are fair game and even killing us is justified in ensuring Islam dominates the world. They really want to see the Crescent fly over all the capitals of the world, including moderate Muslim ones.
What can we do? You want to believe that moderates will win but do they ever? Why do they call us the silent majority?
There are many who really want to see the whole world burn so a new world order can arise under the banner of radical Islam. I'm just glad I have no kids so I don't have to worry about the future they will come to live under.

All those suicide bombings etc against US troops and Shiites and yelling about jihad & martyrdom---maybe that wasn't such a hot idea after all, when Iran is having joyous celebrations and launching all sorts of new missiles, and there are 3 Shiites for every Arab Sunni in Iraq?
The US made lots of mistakes but in the end they're gonna leave. The Iranians and the Shiites that they've heavily armed are going to still be there, and world opinion isn't going to make them stop doing anything.
On the """upside""", after the US leaves and full civil war rages, the al-Qaeda sorts in their new Afghanistan-West (Anbar province) will be actively warring against the Shiites more than the Crusaders and Jews. I mean they will have the same propaganda as usual but the young hotheads who want to take a gun and kill will have to settle for Shiites.
Maybe they'll start to realize that the al-Sadrists have executed and tortured more Arabs in a few months than Israel has done over decades.
It may start to seriously deplete the suicide bomber pool.

I'm sorry, but the radical fringe of Islam is something to be concerned about. Don't forget, 9/11 happened long before Iraq or Afgahnistan. Anyone who will hijack planes and crash them into buildings is evil. I can understand an attack against a consulate, a military target, even a politician, but civilian targets? Innocents? I know what you'll say about Lebanon but remember Hizbollah loves to hide behing innocents because they are expendable for the "greater good of Allah".
