SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- KB Home CEO, President and Chairman Bruce Karatz has resigned after an internal investigation found that he backdated his own stock-option grants to increase his pay and will forfeit about $13 million in gains from the backdating, according to a media report Sunday.

KB Home also said it has created the new post of non-executive chairman and will conduct a search for the position, The Journal reported.
KB Home disclosed in August it was conducting an internal probe of its options grants, after being contacted by The Wall Street Journal about an unusual pattern of well-timed grants.
The company said it hasn't negotiated any terms of departure with Karatz other than the agreement to repay profits from backdating, The Journal said.
To correct its accounting for the backdating, KB Home said it expected to take charges of no more than $50 million, according to The Journal.
I hope they prosecute this guy for securities fraud!

A LETTER TO A REALTOR IN JUPITER FL
I saw your MLS listing in the subject line where you have priced this home at $2,399,000 when the home sold in 1997 for $615K, 2001 $933K and Nov 2002 for $812.5K yet you feel now in four years the home has appreciated $1,600,000. Are you an ahole? What the hell is wrong with you? You have all this inventory you have priced to insanity and completely disconnected from REAL buyers. You are the problem in real estate. Idiots like you are greedy aholes. I was so pissed off last night when I found this on the MLS and you were attached to it as the greedy and unethical realtor. This and the property on Pegasus where you priced the home almost 3 times what they paid for it 2 years ago illustrates what an unethical greedy realtor you are. What the hell is wrong with you? Maybe if uneducated aholes like you priced these homes fairly they would be selling as REAL buyers like me and my wife can easily afford them. We seek value and don't mind people making a profit. However becoming a victim of a financial crime we will not! Are you so disconnected, so stupid that you are not reading what the hell is going on in the country in real estate? Apparently you are! Median homes plummet nationwide by 10% and in Palm beach county yet you are such a damn greedy pig you are pricing homes as if the market is going up and up and up. You are disgusting and should be removed from the industry as a huckster.
There is NO DAMN fundamental reason for this house to have sold 4 years ago for $815K and today an idiot like you comes along and tells the seller they should list it for $2.4M. The interest rate increases we have seen over the last 4 years would cause the mortgage to go up 45% to 65% @815K let alone tacking on another $1.6M… You are damn fool. You deserve to go to prison with all the others for fraud. You better be careful, enjoy your money now that you are scamming from people because I know you will probably be sued/put in jail as buyers realize the fraud you are committing. Four things about this clip:
1) Who's playing the divine piano? Can't see any hint of him.
2) Interesting to see Brian Jones shaking the maracas. Soon to be departed and too soon forgotten....
3) The song isn't the same without the witches chanting "whoo whoo" in the background. I chimed in with my own accompaniment, but it wasn't the same. Who sang that part in the studio version? Not Bianca or Marianne Faithfull or whoever Mick was seeing at the time. I think it was Keith's old lady and a few of her smack addict friends.
4) The Stones suck now. It's like watching my parents up there on stage (and listening to Mick sing "I'm Free" for Chase makes me want to puke.) There was a time at which the Stones and rock n roll had some integrity. See the Ramones, Nirvana, etc. But I bet that now, Mick is up to his armpits in CA real estate (just to tie things back to the topic of this blog.)
