Meet Casey Serin, the Iamfacingforeclosure.com kid

You can see the rest of his vlogs here

Anyone find it interesting that the feds haven't knocked on his door yet? I guess mortgage fraud isn't a crime in America anymore.

Also, check out his blog - fascinating stuff, and an out of control life.

His story is playing out around the country as flippers who stayed in the "game" too long are losing everything

This guy is just po' white trash; he gets publicity the way guests on the Jerry Springer show get publicity - and he hams it up just like them too - and thinks that "letting it all hang out" is valid behavior -he just originates from a social class that I wdn't have expected would exhibit such behaviors.

This reminds me of dating girls off the net late '80s to mid-90s. The sheer cost of a PC, net connection, general computing savvy self-selected OUT the po' white trash that inhabit the Jerry Springer shows - but after a weekend in the panhandle in the girl's "convenience" apartment, I realised that the selected-OUT process had unwound.

Looks like the Jerry Springer guests have traveled up the income, parental social class and education ladder.

I keep wondering whether this is a societal thing - or just a feckless youth thing - who the hell brought these kids up to think that these type of thinking and acting is OK.

Or he is tired as hell...how much sleep would you get if you were facing foreclosure for all those houses? Besides, the guy doesn't have any money for taking drugs.

I wonder if he has considered the tax remifications of his mutilple 'SHORT' sales.

The bank is going to send him a 1099 for the amount of the short.

I have read that the IRS treats the entire amount of the bank's loss on a short sale as taxable income.

This kid is broke, but the IRS may treat him like he earned several hundred thousand and assess him with a 6 digit tax liabilty that won't go away in BK.

This kid may never be able to pay the tax liablity off, and it will only grow each year with penalties and interest.

Looks to me like this KID will be a debt-slave for life. Will never again be able to purchase RE.

If he's not on drugs now... its only a matter of time.

Anonymous said...

To: Another_one_bites_the_Dust

Agree. The kid is toast.

However, there is a SILVER lining. His suffering will help the Gov't maintain the Social Security System.

You see, what this kid and all the other fools did was to increase thier own personal tax-burden (amount of wages taken by the Govt).

IRS will slap him with 25% wage garnishment. So his paycheck will look something like this:

Gross pay for period $1000

Deductions:
$250 -- IRS GARNISHMENT
$73 -- F.I.C.A.
$135 -- Federal Withholding
$67 -- State Withholding
$20 -- City Tax
$15 -- School District Tax

$145 -- Medical Ins Contribution

Total Deductions = $705

Net Pay = $295

************

That it, good luck paying the rent and buying food when you have no credit and have to slave away for 1 to 2 weeks to earn take home pay of only $295.

Casey reminds me of the two punks out Houston TX (Block and Black?) who were the suppossed leaders or innovators of "day trading". Wall Street used these two punks like a bull in a china shop and when they went bankrupt, then the Merrill Lynches, Schwabs etc. came in to take over the day trading scheme of the late 1990's. I remember the magazine article which covered these two geniuses. One of their "day traders" a young woman from Houston was asked how she picked stocks. Her answer "I dont know anything about the company but I notice that the price of their stock goes up and down allot during the trading day". That was the sum total of her expertise.

You guys are all wrong. Casey will use his Star Quality and Optimism to parlay this seemingly abyssal, hopeless situation into not mere solvency, but multi-millions. They will mention Serin in the same breath as Napolean "Think And Grow Rich" Hill, Donald "Art of The Deal" Trump, and, of course, the author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" - all people who got rich telling people how to get rich, or by media-spawned reputation. I think the fact that there are a lot of financial institutions out there getting screwed by this guy and his actions just sucks.

And I think I'm glad to be in a blog with so many people who have never made any big mistakes, probably never taken any big risks, and probably never owned or operated an organization of any size.

Some of you seem to be insignificant, judgemental, pricks.

Thanks to the people who post content!

I know realtors and mortgage brokers are not held in the highest regard around here but, ~damn~ this guy is a whole other kind of loser. Seriously, on a loser scale of 1-10 with your average realtor being a 5, this guy has got to be a 10. THE FREAKIN GUY HAS NO JOB! I thought he was a loan officer before? Or was he just a guy that got scammed by loan officers/realtors. Either way, this lazy, worthless, sorry S.O.B. is going to get what he deserves, and soon.
Oh, and keep hittin' that ice ice baby Casey, who needs sleep or food anyway?

Russ,

Sadly enough, you're right. Those on this board waiting for home prices to come down and for "exotic loans" to go away will be waiting the same time it takes for bread to go back down to 5 cents a loaf. It's just not going to happen.

The ability to adapt to changing circumstances is what separates the successful from everyone else.

With low interest rates, saving is not encouraged by the economy. A person in your situation who is saving at 4-6% while housing goes up at double and triple digit rates is in a no win situation.

Use the banks money, buy the house, take the mortgage deduction and diversify your savings for a rainy day.

Liar's-loans and Foreclosures and Bankruptcy… OH MY!

Casey Serin had finally awakened from his summer daydreams and proclaimed, "Man, I Need a Real Job Or Something. This is the month. I’m at the end of my rope."

So, with his nose to the grindstone and his shoulder to the wheel, he has announced his stringent job requirements:

"I have just three criteria for the job:"

1. "It must be in the real estate industry so that I can keep my foot in the game."

2. "It must make at least $3,000 per month so we can cover our basic living expenses."

3. "It must not take more than 40 hours a week so I can have time for blogging and side businesses."

As always, Casey's sympathetic audience comes to his rescue with words of encouragement and support:

"……OR SOMETHING?! Are you serious? Casey, Casey, Casey… you are some piece of work."

"You are a complete moron and have lost touch with reality. WTF is wrong with you?"

"I’m astounded that anyone wants to work with you. I’m astounded that your wife puts up with you."

"Man o MAN. you are such a blithering idiot."

"You’ve needed a job for months idiot. I think they are paying 14 cent an hour in prison these days."

I know one organization that can help Casey out. They are willing to pay him a hiring bonus of up to $40K.

===================================
The Boomers built this country? Youve got to be smoking your pipe right now. The Boomers have made it this far by asset stripping everything built up under FDR and earlier. There hasnt been any new physical wealth created in this country since the JFK's NASA space program.

The Boomers have destroyed this nation lock, stock and barrel. It's the Boomers who ushered in and believe in the post-industrial society.

Its not surprising kids learn that this is the way to make it...because its starting to look like cheating IS the only way to make it. I played fair, gave up a decent musician career for more money, got an engineering degree, freelanced for 10 years and net somewhere north of 100k, depending on how biz is that year. When this bubble started, I was just finishing up my and my wife's student debt (which was beastly).

Amazing post, amazingruss.

To all old codgers and Baby Boomers:

Don't judge what you don't understand. Younger generations would LOVE a living wage for a hard day's work. Unfortunately, you ruined that chance for most of us. We're reduced to hustling and bullshit, because nowadays, people who work hard don't get anything but poverty and exploitation.

You were spoiled and given everything as children. Gen X and Y marvel at the old movies and TV shows, and at seeing the homes and families you boomers were raised in.

Then, being spoiled brats, you grew up into parasitic self-centered monsters. You selfishly had children, divorced and screwed around like whores. Your kids were only like pets, didn't matter as much as feeling good. Then, as business executives, you sold America out to China, Mexico, etc. to earn a few extra bucks at the expense of your neighbors.

Now you want to bankrupt the rest of us as old geezer leeches, because you think you "deserve it."

You don't.

Anonymous said...

Just wanted to add:

I think there's some bad blood between the boomers and the generations X and maybe Y. It will be interesting to see how the Gen X and Y deal with the boomers stealing their retirements.

Slimer, Truly an amazing statement. In a Baby Boomer dominated society it is refreshing to read a statement from the younger generation. My brother and I were born at the end of the so-called Baby Boomer generation. Our parents were born in the mid 1930's, they were from the Elvis and James Dean generation.

But I can recall my brother and me watching the old "Leave it to Beaver" re-runs when we were small and we would laugh like crazy at the story line and the troubles faced by the suburbanite Beaver and Wally "Baby Boomer" characters.

Had that TV show followed those two characters through the 1960's they would have had to show those same 1950's suburbabite kiddies as "Jacobin" terrorists taking drugs and blowing up their college campus. After JFK was murdered and the Vietnam war got started the boomer generation (especially the upper class suburbia) went insane!

It's been a trip that they have yet to return from. I have lived my entire life in a society dominated by "insane" baby boomers who promoted "drugs", "free sex" along with a real dedication to stamping out the truth at all cost.

The Boomers better decide whether they wish to be redeemed before it is too late for them.

russ - great rant.
as regards buying a house with a 100K income in San Francisco in 2006 - do what I did in 1982 - For us, a joint income of UKL 20K, was great but wdn't buy anything that was close to work in central London or the night-clubs NOR in the nicer inner suburbs. So, we just evaluated our priorities and got jobs out in the sticks(30 miles west of London) and thus a very nice detached 4 bed subdivision starter place for 28K - just 1.5 times joint salary. In your situation, get out to TX or somewhere like that get a girlfriend who earns 100K like you and you can get a good starter home for 300K I'm sure. Like the UK politician of the time, Norman bite-yer-legs Tebbit said: "get on yer bike" ( and move).

Also, the babyboomers like all generations came in two flavors: the idealists and the careerists/opportunists. The ones who screwed things up, to name some well-known politicos are the younger Bush, Clinton in the US and Jack Straw, our Tone and Gordy in the UK. Don't blame ALL the boomers for the screwup - go after the careerists.

Amazingruss, you raise some valid points. I'm in roughly the same box, and understand the frustration with choosing the high road. There are a lot more options than what you've listed, though.

Actually...I recently invented something and could use the help of an electronic engineer to prototype. It addresses one of those everyday annoyances that is so obvious, it's probably patented already. Hmm...think I'll go look at the online patent database.
For the sake of discussion, if this proved to be a (multi?) million dollar idea, would you be interested in going halfsies? It's something that could save lives, btw. Send me a signal, Amazingruss, and we'll talk. Either way, what's stopping you from using your professional skills to take a shot at making a bundle on your own? Economy hasn't tanked yet, and might not tank at all - using the System to get out of the System is still an option, maybe. Realizing what the System is, and not getting caught up are two huge steps that most will never even make. So...hit me up if you want to go the garage start-up thing. Oh yes you are a real original thinker, a real danger to the status quo. You pretend to make fun of Rush Limbaugh and yet that old lard ass baby boomer has his false axioms branded on that little tiny brain of yours.

The way to get out of a depression and / or financial collapse is to do what Franklin Roosevelt did over 70 years ago. Use the power of the government to put the banking system through bankruptcy reorganization, writing off all the $250 trillion in derivative obligations, and other worthless paper claims, while maintaining pensions, employment, etc.

Then begin to rebuild the economy by issuing low interest "government credit".Not private banks but government credit at low fixed interest, the same way Roosevelt used the Reconstruction Finance Corporation and the TVA. You rebuild the collapsed US infrastructure, all while increasing productive employment (which I doubt your arrogant self really knows anything about) which will increase the tax base too.

You cannot solve the problem youre moaning about by budget cuts, all the way to the extreme like killing off the elderly and useless eaters.

You utilize the power of government dedicated to the fostering of the general welfare and rebuild your way out of this crisis. But you dont run an economy like a family budget.

Its been done before and it certainly can be done again.

Youre amazingly stupid not Russ.

Yes sure, you'll get far on your own. What are you geniuses going to do when money goes out of existence? Then what personal solution will you have? The only solution is government acting on behalf of the general welfare of it's population. No other solution exists. There is no real intrinsic value to money, its a political creation.

And if you dont believe SS will exist then I take it you have more faith in the private sector which is also bankrupt? Just look at what the private sector (with no regulations imposed by government) have done to the housing market, the healthcare system, education system etc. ENRON, ring a bell with you? Thats "free market" at it's best.

There is something in history called the "American System of Political Economy" you would do well to try and find out all you can about it.

This nation was founded on those principles, not free trade, supply and demand or Econ 101.

And your not allowed to respond with "Duh".

I have an incentive for Time Share Developers, and my timing is perfect.

There is nothing in our system that is worth saving. It is too far gone.

1. Bailing out of golden handcuffs cushy boring job to go independent sounds appealing, and at least you get a shot at liberating yourself from drudgery - as long as freedom, not things, is the goal, go for it.

2. In addition, money could help with the physical set-up in plan-for-the-worst mode.

3. If 1 and 2 don't pan out, we rely on the network of friends and family. In fact, if you have been a good person and know others, you don't need the $.

These things are not mutually exclusive. They are probably all necessary conditions if the outlook is truly that bleak.

"What About Nuclear Energy?"

Nuclear energy requires uranium, which is problematic because as David Petch explains in his article "Peak Oil and You", even in the most optimistic scenarios, uranium will soon be in short supply:

depletion, pending an increase in annual consumption rates of 3%, 5% or 8%. Currently, uranium production falls incredibly short of the demand. As oil resources become scarce, uranium will have more pressure put upon it as a
resource. All three different scenarios have a similar course
until around 2013, where they part trails. By 2020, there is a serious uranium shortage.

Let's assume a Pollyanna position and assume that uranium deposits can be doubled up in the coming decade.

Uranium supply issues aside, nuclear energy (like solar and wind) is not an economically or energetically feasible transportation fuel. Put simply, you can't power your car with a nuclear reactor in the trunk.

Even if these problems are assumed away, a large scale switch over to nuclear power is still not going to do all that much to solve our problems due to the cost and time frames involved in the construction of nuclear power plants.

It would take 10,000 of the largest nuclear power plants to produce the energy we get from fossil fuels. At $3-5 billion per plant, it's not long before we're talking about "real money" - especially since the $3-5 billion doesn't even include the cost of decommissioning old reactors, converting the nuclear generated energy into a fuel source appropriate for cars, boats, trucks, airplanes, and the not-so-minor problem of handling nuclear waste.

Speaking of nuclear waste, it is a question nobody has quite answered yet. This is especially the case in countries such as China and Russia, where safety protocols are unlikely to be strictly adhered to if the surrounding economy is in the midst of a desperate energy shortage. It may also be true in the case of the US because, as James Kunstler points out in his recent book, The Long Emergency:

. . . reactors may be beyond the organizational means of the society we are apt to become in the future, mainly one with much weaker central authority, less police power, and reduced financial resources . . . in the absence of that(cheap) oil we can't assume the complex social organization needed to run nuclear energy safely.

Assuming we find answers to all questions regarding the cost and safety of nuclear power, we are still left with the most vexing question of all:

Where are we going to get the massive amounts of oil necessary to build hundreds, if not thousands, of these reactors, especially since they take 10 or so years to build and we won't get motivated to build them until after oil supplies have reached a point of permanent scarcity?

Remember, once we get the reactors built, we still have the not-so-inexpensive task of retrofitting a significant portion of the following to run on nuclear-derived electricity:

1.700 million oil-powered cars traversing the world's roads;

2.Millions of oil-powered airplanes crisscrossing the world's skies;

3.Millions of oil-powered boats circumnavigating the world's oceans.

Scientists have made some progress in regards to nuclear fusion, but the road from success in tabletop laboratory experiments to use as an industrial scale replacement for oil is an extremely long one that, even in the most favorable of circumstances, will take decades to traverse.

Monkey wants to deliver fresh water to African children. But with his approach of using solar power nothing useful will come of it. At best all he could do is deliver a dimishing resource. He cannot alter nature to provide new sources of drinking water.

What Monkey forgets is that 20% of the worlds consumption of fresh water depends on fossil water sources of which is finite in supply. Were losing large amounts of fossil, or semi fossil stocks of water. Solar power has no effect on this fact.

But, now there is plenty of water on the planet! The question then is how do you process this water, and at an acceptable price for mass use? That means along our coasts, in particular, we should build many nuclear power plants, particularly of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors types. These plants if you go into 800 megawatt class, it will also be useful for turning water, such as salt water, into fuel. The Great Lakes can produce carbon based fuel, methane essentially. Or methane like fuels. And reduce these-which are more efficient than natural gas otherwise. We should be powering our planes by methane, or synthetic methane. Therefore kiddies, in order to meet simply the requirement on a global scale, of even simple things like freshwater supplies for human consumption, and producing fuels to replace diminishing sources of fuel, we require high-temperature gas cooled reactors.

Now at the same time over the next quarter century we are going to shift into to a thermonuclear fusion economy. We'll go to an isotope economy from a simple atomic economy. Well use isotopes in new ways to make new kinds of products, which are needed to meet a growing demand by a growing world population.

Promoting solar power is like masturbation. It may feel good but it does not create life.

"Promoting solar power is like masturbation. It may feel good but it does not create life. "

Hate to break it to you....

1) Methane is not a stable fuel source to bet on and contains much more CO2 when burned than even wood.

2) "thermonuclear fusion economy." there are two breader reactors currently on the planet and both don't work - you should get off the crack soon.

3)"Well use isotopes in new ways to make new kinds of products, " read #2 again and again and again - nano technology will forever stay on a laboratory table.

As I said earlier - solar will find its place in a carbon fuel starved world...maybe won't help others in 3rd worlds very much, but will have its place.

ITO what you offer ANON - only thing I see missing in your pipedream that you are masturbating to is a hydrogen vehicle in every pot...NOT EVER GONNA HAPPEN.

LOL.

Well we all agree that there will be a Giant crash of some kind. The ananopussy thinks the will be global banks Government will rescue us. I think that I can only do what I can do inside my circle, as does Richard, Dick to some. He and I think there will be several catastrophic occurrences on different fronts and you are on your own baby.
Annonpussy has not answered any of my questions, like; "Did you even watch the movie?"
and "Who are you?"
The reason we have to look inward is because of people like you.

flying monkey,

your spelling and sentence structure is terrible. I have a difficult time following your thoughts.

No I havent seen the movie you mention. And in a banking collapse there is no choice other than Government, who would be responsible for taking over and fixing the problem.

You seem to mix in allot of new age gobbly gook with your ideas. "Looking inwards" etc.

None of that means anything.

Well,

Maybe this forum is not the best place to get in my heart and head. I am sorry about my edumacation. It is what it is. IQ 134.
The reason I love this blog is because the posters are smarter than me in finance and world politics. I never knew FOREX from SMORX until HP.
All of my friends are a lot smarter than me, also, but I am fun and funny to be around, also I am beautiful. That helps get past my syntax and bad spelling.
That is why I do what I can do In MY World. I do not have delusions of grandeur, and I know our Gov. is broken.
You may disagree with me, but you my friend are delusional if you think they (Governments of any kind) care about the US domestic market or me or you, for that matter. They do not.
You need to do some objective research on your own, and you will find that what think you see now is all a lie. I am sorry.

Well the last three links I sent to you, a four hour History of The Federal Bank have been censored by Google and who knows who else. They are gone into thin air. I watched all four hours straight through and sent them to friends.

Gee, Hp is now been censored.

I was so amazed by what I saw that I saved the HP Thread with the movie links in it. MArch 2, 2006. Go to;

http://tinyurl.com/yx3qse

The Fed Bank History Documentary links and comments are half way down the HP thread.

Now, if it was not all a lie, why would they censor these movies?

This is proof, imo. But I ain’t nobody.

However the first two movies are still available to you.

PS I really enjoy the finance posts!
Keep them coming.

Your new friend FMW.

FMW,
I've already commented about Aaron Russo's "from freedom to fascism". Russo is a leading fascist. He's trying to target the government on behalf of these fascist financiers.

As for the Fed Reserve. That stuff is old news. All the conspiracy buff's like to ooh and ahh about the big bad Fed. However the US constitution still grants the power to create credit to the Government.

Besides the Fed system is every bit as a bankrupt as the commericial banks i.e. Bank of America, Morgan/Chase, CitiCorp etc.

So the entire Federal Reserve banking system will have to be reorganized under Government supervision.

And dont believe that the Government will not protect you. Our system has been battered and beaten up over the last 40 years but we still have a written constitution which states the law of the land is the General Welfare or the Common Good. Anything which contradicts that principle is illegal.

FMW,
Your moniker is just as anonymous as anonymous. Unless your legal name if Flyingmonkeywarrior?

And who started all this "troll" business? I noticed the phrase being used one day by literally everyone using the web to communicate. You do know that popular opinion is always wrong dont you?

FlyingMonkeyWarrior said...

Well, you are not really a Troll, You are a Flamer. Someone who disrupts the common opinion of the community.
But, on this blog, even the regulars are Flamers.
hehehe
If you had an HP Identity, it keeps the randomness out, and it is more fun when we know who is on and posting on each thread. But, you would also become known, and sometimes singled out. Every one picks on Richard, I really like him.
Doesn't matter what you think or Wright on HP. Keith is pretty tolerant of others opinions.
The posts above have gone out of control, and if you move to the War with Iran thread with an ID and a pic, then I would know it was you.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll

Usage

The term troll is highly subjective. Some readers may characterize a post as trolling, while others may regard the same post as a legitimate contribution to the discussion, even if controversial. The term is often used to discredit an opposing position, or its proponent, by argument ad hominem.

Often, calling someone a troll makes assumptions about a writer's motives. Regardless of the circumstances, controversial posts may attract a particularly strong response from those unfamiliar with the robust dialogue found in some online, rather than physical, communities.

Experienced participants in online forums know that the most effective way to discourage a troll is usually to ignore him or her, because responding encourages a true troll to continue disruptive posts — hence the often-seen warning "Please do not feed the troll", for which PDNFTT is a common initialism.
