Hello from Rome

Buon Girono as they would say here...

I see the blog was having a bit of fun in my absence! Richard, dude, you were in charge! Like kids when the teacher is gone I swear...

Since the thread below got threadjacked about yours truly thought I'd do a thread about me if that's what you'd like to chat about. The thread below on the UK FSA prepping UK banks for a crash is an important one so keep that one going

On yours truly, yes, HP'ers, as I've said all along, I have a marketing consulting practice, had a long career in corporate retail management. I started a consulting practice after deciding you have to look out for yourself, and not leave your fate (and happiness) up to a corporation. My practice pays the bills and is quite fun, but it's HP that lets me take a shot at changing the world, no matter how small.

I don't mind being outed since you all know I'm seeking world domination, fame and fortune. You know HP is just one step on that path - bwa ha ha ha (evil laugh)

Now I'm off to see the Colosseum...

Richard's in charge

The government is manipulating the stock market to do their best of defying the short sellers their due monetary benefit.

That is just simply idiotic. The USA does not have enough money to manipulate th markets.

The problem with most traders is they chase the news. Do you really think Janus waits for CBS to tell them what's going on. Or Legg Mason reads the CNN website for their stock picks. Do you believe Buffett buys or sells based on a Assoicated Press news release.

The stocks trades on economic factors that give cear indications on the rate money will be piling up in the companies bank vault.

The real NEWS was the two week surge in mortgage applications. The way to predicate this was the strange behavior of mortgage rates - They went up while the economic factors that should have driven them down were going on.

That was then this is now.

The Bank of England raise their equivaelent of our intra-bank rate. Yet mortgage rates not only did not rise in symphony - they fell.

For the next two weeks were are going to see a collasp in the mortgage applications.

It ain't every day Dogcrap says sell the home builders. But I will be taking my 12% profits by Tuesday and wait till the Wendsday after Thanksgiving to buy back.

Hey dogcrap, when you say "mortgage rates", which ones are you talking about?
And economic factors? Are we talking long term fixed rates and long term t-bonds?

Now onto the topic of the day...h5n1

Rather than scaring us with tales of H5N1 found in the US (and thus
getting us to buy Cipro and get flu shots) it seems that TPTB are
intent on NOT scaring us (so we will still buy chickens and eggs).
They have decided not to release to the press anymore any reports of
LPAI H5N1 and will only report if they find HPAI H5N1. Of course they
are still not releasing the sequences of the H5N1 found in wild birds
in the US so we have only their word that it is the LPAI variety

However at least 16 wild birds (mostly hunter killed) are reported as
having LPAI by the USDA so far this year per this chart
http://wildlifedise ase.nbii. gov/ai/LPAITable .pdf

While the press can get this info, it is not being released as press
releases and they seem to be ignoring it.

Once again, how can this be a plot of TPTB to scare us about a
non-threat if they miss the opportunities to scare us. If the press
reports LPAI H5N1 most people would not be sophisticated enough to
think it is not a worry and most people would be stocking up on CIPRO
and avoiding chicken.

Conclusion, if there is a coverup it is that HPAI H5N1 has hit our
shores and they are hoping to contain it without crashing the poultry
industry.

H5N1 In Delaware
Recombinomics Commentary

The updated USDA table of detection of H5N1 in the United States
identifies positive green winged teal in Sussex County, DE. Further
testing is underway. However, the updated table included two more
failures to isolate virus from H5N1 positive samples in New York, and
raises serious questions about the methodology and resource allocation
of the surveilance program.

And on the other side of the globe...

The end game in Iraq has begun...

It didn't really register with me when I heard that a convoy of 43 trucks was hijacked today south of Baghdad--I think 19 trucks were selected for their cargo and driven off into the sunset--but this is another sign of the approaching end of the American adventure in Iraq. Imagine the amount of cargo it takes to supply 140,000 soldiers and all their equipment. If those daily shipments can't get through, the game is over.

http://noquarter. typepad.com/ my_weblog/ 2006/11/the_ vulnerable_ .html#more

In an introduction for his blog readers at Sic Semper Tyrannis 2006, Pat Lang quoted from his July 2006 CSM op-ed, issuing a grave warning:

"American forces in Iraq are in danger of having their line of supply cut by guerrillas. Napoleon once said that "an army travels on its stomach." By that he meant that the problem of keeping an army supplied is the prerequisite for the very existence of the force.
A 21st-century military force "burns up" a tremendous volume of expendable supplies and continuously needs repairs to equipment as well as medical treatment. Without a plentiful and dependable source of fuel, food, and ammunition, a military force falters. First it stops moving, then it begins to starve, and eventually it becomes unable to resist the enemy."

In his report yesterday on Situation Room, Wolf Blitzer and Michael Ware noted:

BLITZER: What we're hearing also, Jamie and Michael, let me pick it up with Michael first, that this is one of these regular convoys. There's an enormous amount of traffic, ground traffic going in from northern Kuwait where they stage -- I was there last year and watched how they do this -- usually 30 or 40 trucks. They drive on that 400-mile road toward Baghdad and beyond, usually under pretty heavy security right now. Certainly it's a very dangerous drive from Kuwait up to Baghdad. But, Michael, I'm sure you've been on that road many times. These contractors, these truck drivers, the U.S. military who go along with them, they are doing it all the time.
WARE: Absolutely. Generally what we see is a certain company will have a contract to provide food or other services to the U.S. military or coalition forces. They will then contract a security firm to protect their facilities and their convoys. It seems to be that this is the type of convoy that we're talking about. So it has a private security firm that is providing the protection.

Now what we understand is it was traveling towards one of the major bases in or around Nasariya. Nasariya, there is certainly one American logistics facility that is very significant and deals with a lot of the supplies that come into the country for coalition forces. So there's a lot of regular traffic. We also know that in this province, around this area, there has been some tension with the coalition forces, the Brits who are in control of that area.

Then Ben Franklin "quote" is a hoax. A number of fake quotes have been attributed to signers of the Declaration of Independence and early Americans by various groups pushing thier own thology and who hoped to gain some credibility by "threadjacking" (for lack of a better term) the messsages given by those founded the country.

this is an actual quote from Jefferson and quite telling

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our
liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a
moneyed aristocracy that has set the Government at defiance.
The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored
to the people to whom it properly belongs."

He was very cautious about banks and the corporations that tend to sprout up around them. Smarter than the average bear that fellow.
