Predictions:
Repubs hold onto both house & senate because people are stupid, dems can't mobilize, and because of low turn out. Gas prices spike, and people are afraid to go the the polls because of the roving gangs in the streets.
If the dems can't find a way to leverage this foleygate, macaccagate, and BW's state of denial book, they deserve to be sent to gitmo and water boarded until they grow a sack or some gills.

Dems take the House and Senate, but with slim majorities and no clear mandate. They will attempt to extract revenge for '94 and may even open impeachment hearings against Bush and Cheney (payback for Clinton).
In the end, the Dems will show voters they have no meaningful agenda beyond revenge against Republicans, and this will screw their hopes for a successful democrat Presidential candidate in '08.
If Dennis Hastert resigns, the Foley issue calms down by election day and it'll be close, real close.

The current polls are showing that the Republicans hold the house and the senate by slim margins.
A lot of political experts, including Dick Morris, are saying that the Foley scandal is actually going to hurt Democrats.
I think people are going to vote on gas prices and The Dow. With both of those "looking good" people are going to keep the Republicans in office. I didn't keep the link, but there was a recent article on how Bush's approval ratings are inversly proportional to gas prices. If prices keep going down, the Republicans keep everything.
I also agree that if the Democrats took both houses in congress they would start impeachment hearings as payback.

No, it does not matter. Recall that Bush did not "win" either election. He was illegally appointed by the "felonious five" Supremes. For the next election the Diebold company stepped in. Obviously, they can get away with anything. A bunch of Democrats would possibly be less wontonly destructive, but it still won't matter because our politicians are incapable of percieving and/or dealing with the several severe crises simultaneously underway (I'm referring to both financial and environmental problems).
