America - love it or leave it! Buy American! These colors don't run! Gotta go to wal-mart now.

If you're one of the fox news crowd who uses these kind of slogans, and then slinkers out to the local wal-mart, you're just another "America-first" hypocrite.

I hope you enjoy your cheap chinese crap while millions of your countrymen lose their jobs.

But look at the bright side - that massive trade imbalance you're causing has artificially lowered mortgage rates, thus driving up housing prices to obscene levels for you and your countrymen. Which of course are now collapsing, destroying the American economy. So thank you for shopping at wal-mart.

Funny that their logo is red, white and blue isn't it? Wouldn't red and white be more apropos?

The company says its inventory of products made in China was expected to hit $18 billion in 2004, the second consecutive year the inventory grew by more than 20 percent. More than 70 per cent of the products sold at Wal-Mart are made in China, according to the China Business Weekly.

More than 80 percent of the 6,000 factories in Wal-Mart's worldwide database of suppliers are in China. If Wal-Mart were a separate nation, it would rank as China’s fifth-largest export market, ahead of Germany and Britain.

Not to be "RACIST" Keith, just to point out an observation. All the Wal Mart stuff in the Kissimmee, Florida Store, the Mecca if you want to leave Puerto Rico, was bought by the transplanted Hispanic Community, Not the Local Red Neck Americans.

Buy the way, the Wal Mart Shelves were stripped bare yesterday by these PR Hispanics.

It is a China and Puerto Rico Conspiracy....

illegal hispanics buying at walmart, that's one thing. Mexico basically importing from China.

But the uber-patriotic, fox-news, fly the american flag in their window crowd shopping there - that's the group I have a problem with

For years, Wal-Mart saturated the airwaves with a "We Buy American" advertising campaign, but it was nothing more than a red-white-and-blue sham. All along, the vast majority of the products it sold were from cheap-labor hell-holes, especially China. In 1998, after several exposes of this sham, the company finally dropped its "patriotism" posture and by 2001 had even moved its worldwide purchasing headquarters to China. Today, it is the largest importer of Chinese-made products in the world, buying $10 billion worth of merchandise from several thousand Chinese factories.

As Charlie Kernaghan of the National Labor Committee reports, "In country after country, factories that produce for Wal-Mart are the worst," adding that the bottom-feeding labor policy of this one corporation "is actually lowering standards in China, slashing wages and benefits, imposing long mandatory-overtime shifts, while tolerating the arbitrary firing of workers who even dare to discuss factory conditions."

Wal-Mart does not want the U.S. buying public to know that its famous low prices are the product of human misery, so while it loudly proclaims that its global suppliers must comply with a corporate "code of conduct" to treat workers decently, it strictly prohibits the disclosure of any factory names and addresses, hoping to keep independent sources from witnessing the "code" in operation.

I'm not sure whose use of red/white/blue and the american flag is more transparently fake - walmart or fox news

from 1997:

Wal-Mart is the only retailer in the country with "Buy American" as a central feature of its marketing program. The reason others don't is that they are afraid of being caught in a lie. Wal-Mart, the Arkansas-based mass merchandiser, is different. Wal-Mart officials don't care. They just continue to repeat patriotic slogans while they scour the world for ever cheaper sources of cheap, exploited labor.

With annual sales of more than $100 billion, this retail behemoth still has American flags hanging strategically all over its stores and posts a large photograph trimmed in red, white and blue of workers from a U.S. company where Wal-Mart claims it created 30 jobs. Its "Bring It Home to the USA" slogan can be found looking down on aisles full of imported products

you talk as if the flag is offensive. Is patriotism really that bad? maybe for the leftist you are keith.

Your pro-union, protectionist ideas will torpedo this country faster than any other.

Even Sweden has recently shrugged off the burden of socialism(which you promote)and are transfering poorly run state monopolies to the PRIVATE SECTOR!!!

Imagine that!!! Sweden. The poster child of community and social responsibility has bankrupt itself!!!

State run schools, health care, companies have failed Sweden.

Capitalism to the rescue.

Capitalism.

No, Keith using the flag is called clever marketing.

A component of capitalism.

It had better come damn quick, then. For all the whining about the evils and failures of socialism, the US economy in reality seems totally cool with a system that is functionally no different than a socialist economy.

If it wasn't for government life support, there would be no GM or American Airlines. But it's that same government support that kills whatever incentive these companies have to actually make, at a competitive price, something people might want to buy. The monopolies, with or without help from the government dole, are in the same boat.

So enough about how great capitalism and the free market are. I have yet to see it in action in this country.

All racists are Republicans
All rednecks are Republicans
All religious wackos are Republicans

All racist religious wacko rednecks are Wal-Mart shoppers.
You are where you shop.

The poorly educated and misinformed amount of white trash in this country is staggering.
Only in the US will you find such a vast array of consumer junk.
Only in the US can Wal-Mart be the largest corporation.
Only in the US can an underachieving mediocrity such as Bush be the "leader" of the nation.

Not the sort that affects my reading comprehension. Please read the entire post--you're responding to stimuli that evidently exists only in your imagination.

My favorite, however, is the "I Support Our Troops" or American flag magnet on the (typically) full sized Honda, Nissan or Toyota truck- occasionally accompanied by a No Fear or Git r done sticker.

All Fox on camera commentators and all Fox executives should be put on trial after the Bushista regime is brought down.

The problem after the fall of the Nazis is that Nuremberg didn't go after enough of them. Even the small fry should pay.

Maybe we won't need trials, just summary lists of names, their crimes, and a just punishment -- the only allowed defense would be mistaken identity.

Let's not forget the fact that even upscale stores have started to ship jobs to China as well. Not so much to provide cheaper prices, but to increase their profit margins.

I am not sorry to see trade unionists get what they deserved for killing american industry. Sure the management of the companies that caved in to them deserve part of the blame as well.

I am sorry to see non-union americans losing their jobs.

I am in the market for a new SUV to replace my aging Tahoe, and I still consider it the best in class. But I really, really do not want to pay for the "jobs bank", UAW inflated wages, and legacy health care costs. Who the f*ck gives unlimited health care to old retiree's who have exponentially rising costs as they get older? I wish I could get such a deal from a private insurance company, or industry...

So I am working hard to identify a *non-union* assembled full size SUV. I looked at the new Mercedes full size SUV, but Germany is one big union anyway...

I am also a GM stock holder, which is why I am so upset...

>>> Ya DEMFAG!

Good one! I have not seen that one before. I have noticed the "I hate america because they won't let me marry men" among the most vocal demoncrats in my area. I have been calling them the "FP" candidates to my wife when the flyers come in for the elections since this appears to be their biggest issue in the world, and not our security.

Their attitude is like a little kid who says "if america can't be my way, then I would rather have it destroyed".

As Michael Savage says, "who will the islamists come for first if they do take over and impose sharia law?"

You're confused - you mean the CNN-watching in-bed-with-unions blue state Lou Dobbs crowd. Much of the FOX News crowd generally believes in free trade, and that it's perfectly ok to pay low-skilled third world countries to make stuff for us. Maybe you have dreams of your children and grandchildren working in a factory, but I have higher hopes for my kids.
