Circle your calendar for August 22 - the day the world goes mad?

I highly recommend getting your own blog. You get to publish some whacked-out stuff, like this one on Ahmadinejad from the Drudge Report. If it hits the fan, you can always say "hey, that's the crazy stuff HP had an article on!" I'm not saying it's gonna on 8/22, but it is interesting...

I always found it weird that he said he would answer the West's offer on a nuke deal, but not until August. Never made sense that there was a specific date he had to wait for. Well, maybe here's why. Spooky.

Housing panic? Try world panic, oil panic, stock market panic and WWIII panic. This guy and his masters are driving most world events right now, if you connect the dots.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

WSJ: Scholar Warns Iran's Ahmadinejad May Have 'Cataclysmic Events' In Mind For August 22

In a WALL STREET JOURNAL op-ed Tuesday, Princeton's Bernard Lewis writes:

"There is a radical difference between the Islamic Republic of Iran and other governments with nuclear weapons. This difference is expressed in what can only be described as the apocalyptic worldview of Iran's present rulers." "

In Islam as in Judaism and Christianity, there are certain beliefs concerning the cosmic struggle at the end of time -- Gog and Magog, anti-Christ, Armageddon, and for Shiite Muslims, the long awaited return of the Hidden Imam, ending in the final victory of the forces of good over evil, however these may be defined."

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad "and his followers clearly believe that this time is now, and that the terminal struggle has already begun and is indeed well advanced. It may even have a date, indicated by several references by the Iranian president to giving his final answer to the US about nuclear development by Aug. 22," which this year corresponds "to the 27th day of the month of Rajab of the year 1427.

This, by tradition, is the night when many Muslims commemorate the night flight of the prophet Muhammad on the winged horse Buraq, first to 'the farthest mosque,' usually identified with Jerusalem, and then to heaven and back (c.f., Koran XVII.1)."This might well be deemed an appropriate date for the apocalyptic ending of Israel and if necessary of the world. It is far from certain that Mr. Ahmadinejad plans any such cataclysmic events precisely for Aug. 22. But it would be wise to bear the possibility in mind."

Special forces? We don't have enough special forces to bring down the entire Iranian theocracy and its backers. The only thing that might come close would be tactical nu..., uh, let's not go there. Seriously. No go nucular.

The end of the beginning

Regardless of any impending ceasefire, the removal of Hizbullah and the Iranian nuclear position sets up the prospect of an US war against Iran

By Dan Plesch
08/08/06 "The Guardian" ----US forces are ready today to destroy 10,000 targets in the Middle East in a few hours. US readiness for more war is just one indicator that the present war is likely to spread and intensify in the coming months.

Unnoticed amidst coverage of the war, Iran has rejected a UN resolution demanding it halt uranium enrichment. Condoleezza Rice anticipates that on the nuclear issue: "when the Iranians get past this August 31 deadline, I think they're going to see sanctions from the international system that are going to start to make life pretty miserable." Ehud Olmert, the Israeli prime minister, stated back in April that the decisive point in Iran's development of nuclear arms would come in months.

Both the Iranian and US governments regard the fighting in Lebanon and Israel as related to their own conflict. President Bush made the end of Iranian and Syrian support of Hizbullah a condition of any ceasefire, though he has since softened his stance at the UN. Condoleezza Rice remarked that "we do know that this is more than just Hizbullah in Lebanon. This is an extension of Iranian power through a proxy war."

US Intelligence Chief, John Negroponte, told the US Senate Intelligence Committee earlier this year that Iran regarded Hizbullah as "a critical regime safeguard by deterring US and Israeli attacks". With Hezbollah already at war, this "safeguard" is in the process of being removed.

Iran has threatened a world oil price crisis in response to UN sanctions. We do not now know if China, France and Russia will support sanctions or if US will once more regard the UN's failure as a license to act militarily. These "ifs" require a close look at the US, Israeli and Iranian political intentions and military capabilities.

Yes Indeed!

Iran opens the Oil Bourse and starts trading oil for Euros.

Nothing, and I mean nothing pisses off our Wall Street Protection Team (CIA and the military) more than someone trying to take a dump on the dollar.

You fucking cowards have nothing but fear to live on. Try picking lettuce all day in the summer sun for $20 bucks, that will give you perspective. All you fat-ass lazy cowards hide behind you computer and spout off how scary Iran is. Lets see you do something like join the Army and go the fuck over there and send your daughters and sons.

But you will not do it, you spread fear and live as cowards. Shame on you. The world would be a better place if you would slit your fat pasty wrists wide open.

Hey Juan - did I it a cord - you may want to get some help for that rage "issue".

Questions Raised Over Aging Oil Fields

The Shutdown of Prudhoe Bay Raises Questions About Aging Oil Fields

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- BP's problem of corroding pipes is worsening as the nation's largest oil field ages and more water and less oil is produced during drilling.
"Really, we are a giant water field," said Bill Hedges, BP PLC's corrosion expert, explaining that what comes up now during drilling is three-quarters water.

Anonymous said...

Wow, 75% water. I read that Ghawar (Saudi's biggest field) is way down in volume and 30-55% of what gets pumped out is now salt water.

Peak oil. Get ready, it's real.

The people of south and central america have the resiliency and wherewithal to withstand and thrive in the peak oil bust you seem to be describing. In fact they will thrive and prosper. It is the fat-ass american who is at most risk.

So many fat pasty gringos living way out in suburbs with the only means to travel is their SUV gas hogs. All your food and goods is trucked in over thousands of miles. Gringos stand to lose the most and they will suffer the most in the post peak oil world. The beautiful and strong latin american peoples will thrive. We will not let you cross the border to flee your mad max america when the oil runs out. My advice to the gringos in EL Norte is to get yourselves some donkeys.

Juan Carlos is just a racist angry Chihuahua barking loudly to make up for his inferiority complex, which is probably less a complex than a reality.

Juan suffers from self hatred because he is from a third world country and continent. His rantings are caused by a degenerative disorder in which portions of the brain dissovle after years of inhaling the fecal content in the air from the open sewers in the streets of Mexico and other parts of South America.

God, I hope Tancredo runs for President and cements that border for good!

This article isn't about mexicans, it is about the apocalypse!

Still, here is a quote from a rabbi about the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem:

"A full three weeks of our year-the three weeks "between the strictures" of Tammuz 17 (July 13) and Av 9 (August 2-3)- are designated as a time of mourning over the destruction of the Holy Temple."

Coincidence that Hizbollah started this war during this time period? Or that Iran's president is basing decisions on a sacred Muslim holiday? Most of the wars and events effecting Jews has occured during this time (even expulsion from Spain) so many Jews expect attempts of anilhilation during this time.

To allow Hizbollah to win will fulfill these fanatics wildest dreams and no matter what happens now I think the world is sliding toward a major economic and world war. The housing bubble will become a non-issue as the collapse will come from war and economic meltdown, not the current price of homes.

The Iranians are playing the 24hr news cycle like a fiddle. These men are not fools, they are implementing a sophisticated foreign policy and the MSM and U.S. government are falling right into their trap.

Hey Juan... Yesterday I worked all day for the ever more and more stupid Government and then came home watered and fed chickens, cattle, goats and geese and then spent 2 hours picking and hulling lima beans. I'm too tired to fight.

By the way. We will be planting more lettuce this September and I'll pick it myself.

Keith,

Are you talking about Bush? Read "Conservatives without Conscience" it is written by John Dean. He says that we have an authoritarian government ourselves and could slide into fascism soon. The president is said to want to bring about end times.

Anonymous said...

And the Iran ragheads are laughing all the way to the bank. they traded their dollars for oil late last year, then ran up the price of oil with their talk and trouble.

Actually not a bad plan.

Anonymous said...

All you libs so worried about Bush, what are you going to do when Nancy Peolsi becomes President in March '08 (after the impeachment and trials of Bush & Cheyney) and cancels the November elections "for the good of the country"?

That will be goodness and light, right? John Dean is a paid tool of Moveon.org & the other statist groups who want an authoritarian takeover. Is fascism easier to swallow when the guys locking the door are Dems?

Anonymous said...

Anon 6:14

Dean is a conservative that served in the Nixon Whitehouse and he has your number. You are behaving just as he says a right wing authoritarian would. BTW the studies he cites finds republicans to be more fascist inclined.

"Anon 6:14

Get serious. Dean is a crook as in "Watergate Scandal," who got caught, and decided to turn his prison record into big bucks. A bunch of those goons did. For them to say anything about anybody is the height of hubris. This garbage person would stab anyone in the back and say anything for money. I don't like Bush & Company, but Nixon & Company were hardly better.

Roccman said...

"By the way, "there" is the choke point for what, a third of the world's oil?"

I think it is 2/5ths, but still in the ball park -

Good to see some connecting dots here.

HAHAHAHAH!

and that's why Dean's previous book about Cheney and Co. was titled, "Worse than Watergate"

Invective aside, "Juan" makes some valid points and raises an interesting question. Americans are demonstrably more obese than ever. Are we also "soft" - less willing to work hard than in the past? Err...probably so, on average. Isn't the fool's dream of something for nothing exactly what this blog is about? And suburbia is, in fact, particularly vulnerable to and unprepared for the double or triple wammy headed our way: housing, oil, layoffs, etc.
"Juan's" perception of timidity is wrong, however. What I see is concern over worst-cast scenarios. Asking "what happens if?" is simply good planning. The fact is, no one knows with 100% certainty that the situation in the Middle East, or any other looming catastrophe won't simmer down. Funny how the housing bubble is working out, though - looking worse by the minute. If something big is going down on the 22nd of this month, I suppose we'll know for sure soon enough. And by Q2 2007, we'll have an even more clear picture which way the world economy is headed. That's not a long wait, if you ask me.
Oh, the interesting question - who might prove more resilient?

Anonymous said...

All trolling aside, If the peak oil predictions come true, the USA will certainly be in for a world of hurt. And actually yes, the countries to our south will be able to handle this crisis much much better than us. I really would rather be living in a rural agricultural area of Guatemala, where the food is plentiful, than be stuck in Philadelphia (for example), if a serious famine/peak oil event hit the US.

Just look at what happened in New Orleans. When the supply chains are broken and there is no food and water available, you know what will happen. The shit will get ugly. So many cities in the US are not sustainable without cheap oil.

Anonymous said...

Now that we're in "blue sky" thinking mode, I wonder about even the best prepared survivalists' chances. Let's say you have your own victory garden. Long about February, that bumper crop of tomatoes will be a fond memory. Then what do you do? Everyone cannot go squirrel hunting for the same dozen squirrels. I know - stock up on canned goods, and can some of the bountiful backyard harvest. Sorry, but if things are bad enough, all the prepping in the world isn't going to help.
Which lesson do we take from New Orleans - that people loot or that the gummint is simply not going to come to the rescue, or both?

Anonymous said...

a.creampuff -- in a true, all out SHTF scenario, the 80/20 rule will apply. 80% of the people will be dead after the first Winter. The remaining 20% will fight over those squirrels.

Right, bean boy, just wait until the $ influx from laid-off illegal mestizo "master craftsman" in construction ceases.
Can't you find some fuzzy dice forum where you can spew your dopey La Raza crap?

I do believe we "gringos" will be hurting when TSHTF, but at least we'll still have higher IQ's and will regroup-- something your various corrupt s'holes have NEVER managed, despite decent natural resources.

Hey wrong gringo-boy. You will not be just reduced but still smarter, you will simply be reduced. When you get down to the level of the "Beaners", you will have no advantage. Your disadvantage will be your fat-ass overweight pasty gringo skin. The "beaners" will outwork the fucking hell out of you. They will thrive on rice and beans, you will be consumed with bitter regret that you have to eat rice and beans.

Bean-brain,
You are consumed with anger and envy, as well as being "ate up with the dumb ass", pedictable enough, given IQ disparity.
First, I am a gringette, not a gringarcon. Second, being vegetarian, I graze low on the food chain and am no stranger to beans and rice. Yes, there is much glut and over-consumption among average folks in USA, somthing your countries haven't faced, as wealth is held by relatively few.
Still, the average Jose
manages to be be rather rotund. You've little room to talk about fat, and speaking of little, except for those with more Euro blood, you're a sawed-off bunch of buggers. Is that your source of discontent, you're angry that we gringos built the sidewalks too close to your fat arses? I'll take
smart & pasty over dumb & greasy in good times or bad.
