Happy Iran, North Korea, Israel and Housing Bubble Week!

I thought the other shoe would drop this week. But even I didn't realize the entire shoe store would come falling on our heads.

We ain't seen nothin' yet...

from the palm beach post.com today:

Local home prices have escalated so much faster than wages that there's an astonishing $209,471 difference between what homes in Palm Beach County cost and what the typical household can afford to pay, said Ned Murray, associate director of The Metropolitan Center at Florida International University in Miami, which conducted the study.

The median income for all Palm Beach County occupations is just $27,851.

Median household income is also low, the study shows: $52,825. The low wages are due to the nature of the county's employment, Murray said, with 87 percent of all jobs being in the relatively low-paying service sector.

The median price of a single-family home for the first quarter of this year was $392,900, according to the Florida Association of Realtors. To buy such a home would require an income of at least $130,000, according to Murray.

Israel has been dealing with attacks and wars for decades. It has showed remarkable restraint.

"It is the duty of Israeli leaders to explain to public opinion, clearly and courageously, a certain number of facts that are forgotten with time. The first of these is that there is no Zionism, colonialization, or Jewish State without the eviction of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands."
-- Ariel Sharon, Agence France Presse, November 15, 1998

Stocks are inherently worthless. They don't even pay dividends. It is just a way for the rich to grift money off the government and for CEOs to steal from stockholders.

hey anon, WWIII started before 9/11, remember when the marine barrick was truck bombed, how about the us embassies and the uss cole. clinton did not want anything to do with WWIII so he just let the attacks continue. WWIII is now only becoming apparent to the fringe american, it will take $7.00 gas and the housing collapse before the typical dumb fat slugs of america realize WWIII is happening.

"a certain number of facts that are forgotten with time."

Yes indeed, like the FACT that King Hussein ran 200,000+ Palestinian squatters and trouble makers out of Jordan in 1970 because they were plotting to overthow his government. Oops, he also killed about 5000 of their sorry asses in the process.

So go ahead and exude pity for the "oppressed Palestinians" and their corrupt, terrorist leaders. Outside of a few radical groups, not many others in the ME share your concern for their plight.

Nice precis of the Bush Administration. We need more books like this, and someone needs to take out Hannity and O'Reilly to stop them from spewing Bush-speak.

looks almost as bad as AAPL

The Israeli people should give back the land to the palestinians and relocate to Utah. If they peacefully disband the state of Israel we will have cheap gas and no terrorism.

I would say that besides Israel and the USA, the rest of the world is concerned for thier plight.

I present to you the UN resolutions against Israel.

Step #1. Isreal bombs Iran's nuclear facilities as they said they would.
Step #2. US does another shock and awe on Iran to 'stop the escalation of the war and wipe out their military'.
Step #3. Pacify all neighboring states.
Step #4. The US now owns the entire Middle East.
Timeline: 1 year.

"Wow, talk about a lot of jew haters on this board. i knew leftists where racist bigots all along."

That's called using the anti-Semite card when criticizing Israeli policies.
All Republicans are not racists,
but all right-wing wacko Republicans are racists.

Guys, do you realize how scary this is? A huge housing bubble, high oil prices, escalating tensions in the middle east, hurricanes, etc...

High oil prices will for sure make it impossible for people to commute to the outlying areas where they bought houses, and if they can't sell, then that will precipitate an even greater fall in house prices.

We're looking at probably not just a recession here but a total economic meltdown.

You realize that all those bug pension funds, State funds, etc., have bought heavily into real estate? The California state pension fund, for example has bought heavily into real estate.

Things are looking extremely bleak ... like global financial meltdown.

high oil prices, GOld bouncing back. Core inflation higher then what the feds want us to believe it is and a falling dollar. DOn't forget the trade deficit.

Seems to me that the fed will be raising rates again.

I'm sticking to 6% by the end of this year.

Here's the nursery rhyme:

4.00 for a gallon of gas
No dollars for the people
That's the way the money goes
POP! GOES THE BUBBLE.

paintblot - that's my dog!
If the housing market is over, then how long do think it may take for prices to fall about 20%. Waiting to buy a home is slow torture. I think I may begin to look again in Sept. and make low offers, but as far as seeing declining prices, it has not been too impressive.

The hell with lebannon I don't blame the israeli's at all. Leb pres is a Syrian puppet and everyone knows it. Iran and Syria fund hezbollah against Isreal and always have. Dont forget the Isreali attacks started when the hezzies set up a sophisticated ambush killing some 11 isreali's and kidnapping two soldiers. They then want a prisoner exchange?? Wake the sleeping dragon and you get what you deserve. Palestinians arn't even a friggen people really. The other arabs won't let any of them immigrate because they don't want them. They only exist because all the other arabs use them as a thorn in the isreali side. I am an athiest and not jewish but at least the jews arnt out to convert you or kill you. These molsems could have peace if they wanted it, they dont. they want to kill all the isreali's. Good luck with that a-holes.

Back off we should! All the way back with immediate cessation of any aid and collaboration with that out-of-control country. Hold our elected officials
who are so enthralled by AIPAC responsible for their co-culpability in this race toward the abyss. It is time to start asking some hard, fearless questions of our Representatives who so willingly discard American interests for those of a foreign nation. Steve Clemons' call for recusal of E. Abrams should really be applied to Bolton as well.
