Proof that realtors are really stupid - the Bubble Fence

David at BubbleMeter submits this proof - the Bubble Fence. Would any sane person buy a condo in a development where it looks as if every owner wants the heck out of dodge?

What this shouts to me is:

1) Desperation
2) Panic
3) Stupidity
4) Lowball Offers Accepted!

proof of realtors being stupid is the fact that they're not making any money any more, while probably having to make leased lexus payments, mary kay cosmetics payments and payments on their investment property they can't get rid of

millions of realtors will be seeking new work now

funnier than the bubble bench.

What exactly are the things hanging off the fence?

I would add "irresponsible." What kind of idiot would hang a lock box on a chain link fence. Anyone with a $5 pair of wire cutters could take the lock box, saw it open, get the key and clean out the condo before lunch. At least the "bubble bench" was substantial enough to discourage lock box theft. At the moment, the search for the world's dumbest realtor seems to be a multiple party tie for first place.

My aunt, who sells realestate around boston, and who has argued many times with me about the bubble situation, emailed me about her work situation. Things are so bad, she's considering getting a "real job". Nothing is selling. She's been in real estate for 20 years.

>>>Typically, a lockbox is only used when a condo/house is empty. When you put up a lockbox every realtor in town has access to that lockbox so not many people use one if they're still living there.

Most houses on the MLS here in metro Phoenix have one of those electronic lockboxes. That includes the occupied ones.

Sign in Carlsbad, Ca Windemere Real Estate office -

"The Bubble has NOT Burst". . .

I'm not kidding - the sign has a picture of a little kid blowing bubbles. . .I was up there for lunch and didn't have my camera, but if any bloggers are out there up Carlsbad way, it is right at the Village Center near the Coaster station. . .Advertising that the bubble has not burst is like Pets.com saying everything is peachy in 2001!!!

Isn't this from a DC blog?

And isn't it DC that gave us the spetacular "condos for sale bench" back in the winter?

Who makes the lock boxes? Are they on a stock exchange?

I thought that realtors typically attach those lockboxes to doorknobs.

Somthing strange about them locking them to a chain link fence

Before you can go to the condo, you have to get through the front door first. Not all condo buildings have permanently staffed lobby areas.

I went to check out this place yesterday because it's only about 3 blocks from where I work. The setup of this building is very strange. On 10th Street NW you have the main building. The condos have these all-glass fronts to them where you can see the inside of the property clear as day. Some of the units look completely empty and then you have a few that are either occupied or staged. There is a second building behind that one that continues pretty far back, extending at least halfway to 9th Street.

The weird part is that there is another part to this complex, maybe 20 feet wide, that is actually set up along what I believe is M Street. In between this building and the main building is a parking lot, at the corner of 10th and M Street. So you have the main building on 10th, a narrow building (same architecture and street number) around the corner on M Street, with a fenced parking lot in between.
