Pre-construction condo hotel rooms in Las Vegas at the W from only $650,000 - get one now!! Anyone? Anyone?

Let's see... $650,000 for a studio room, probably around 400 square feet. So $1625 per square foot - not bad! Seems like a fair markup from construction cost, especially since there'll be a PLASMA TV AND A DVD PLAYER IN IT!!! WHOOPPEEE!!! That'd be really neat to watch TV on a PLASMA TV!!!!

Hmm... over 30 years at 7%, that's $4300 a month, plus the $500 a month condo fee etc call it an even five grand a month. Divided by 30 days is $166 a night. Average room charge is say $200 a night. So I'd save $34 every night I stayed there, right! Cool, sign me up!

Nah, on second thought, I'll just pay the $200 a night for the 5 nights a year I'll stay there. $1000 a year seems a lot better than $60,000 a year. And I'll buy my own PLASMA TV thank you.

i don't blame the sellers. if i put my car up for sale at a 500% mark-up and some idiot agreed to pay me, then good for me. the blame belongs 100% to the buyers

AMEN! to that. I see a lot of animosity towards sellers/flippers because they are/were getting sky-high returns. Someone was willing to bye ,PERIOD! I don't blame the car salesman if he makes a great deal for the dealership, I blame me for not doing my 'homework'.

What the "don't blame the seller" argument misses is this: The US housing market, and especially the huge runup in the past five years, is a product of misdirected government policy. When banks and GSE's go under, the taxpayer will be stuck with the cost of cleaning up, RTC style.

The people most blamable:

mortgage bankers.

You know, the ones with the $10,000 pinky ring and the BMW who will "work the numbers" (for a fat commission) to stick everybody into some kind of toxic junk loan. And they know the clients can't really afford it but they have no problem ripping off the sheep for their paycheck this month.

Is this a brand new project? I thought several of these projects in Vegas were cancelled or put on hold. Are they really that stupid to still be building this crap?

$200 a night in Vegas? Hell you can do much better than 400 SF for that kind of money.

The condos will never be built.

Las Vegas is a joke, I hope the W builds these stupid condos, I would love to seem them unsold, and the W go bankrupt.
