Who will the third party candidate be?

I've floated the dems and reps - Obama, Hillary, Bayh, and then Allen, Frist and McCain. No takers.

On 3rd party, I've floated just two - Oprah and Trump. Both are kinda lightweight.

So give me your outsider - your 3rd party pick that can lead us out of this mess. Make some moves on social security, medicare and medicaid. Get us out of foreign quagmires. And get some sanity and accountability back into leadership.

I'm thinking a strong businessman, social centrist, libertarian, fiscal conservative, no-nonsense kinda guy. Maybe a CEO or maybe even a reporter/analyst.

Take your best shot. Who can we draft?

I like the Constitution/America First party. Although they seem to be a bit heavy on fundie freaks at least they have their heads on straight and agree with me on nearly everything.

Jack Welch would be good.

I also like John Chambers of Cisco.

Did anyone say anything when Bush suggest privatizing part of S/S?

It will probably be a Scott McNealey / Joshua Bloch ticket in 2008 that takes it. Great soundbites for the press and excellent reusable object models. This is a formula for victory. Plus Scott gets economics.

Lou Dobbs from CNN would be the ideal 3rd party candidate.

Mr T could actually win. Who would be his running mate?

Lou Dobbs!

(by the way, Jack Welch is a slimeball who cheated on his wife! if his wife can't trust him, why should anyone else?).

general wesley clark again? sort of fits the bill...

Mr T? Dan Quayle? Charlie Sheen? Who cares, it's irrelevant to actual policy or outcomes these days?

Charlie Sheen would get my vote...

I'm another Constitution party supporter. I voted Constitution party during the last presidential election, as a write-in. But I'd vote Green party, if that was the only choice.

I wish congressman Ron Paul wasn't a Republican. Smart, and seemingly honest man. My favorite politician, except for his affiliation.

THIS IS THE WINNER!

W for another 8 years is my vote.

Steve Jobs

Some may laugh, but if his health problems are behind him, he could easily be the strongest "outsider" candidate. His politics are a lot closer to WF Buckley than Al Gore, and he certainly knows how to make deals.

If the economic shit hits the fan like you keep saying it will, expect a liberal populist whose first order of business will be to build work camps for republicans in the desert.

Don't you understand that the greed culture so heavily promoted by the republicans led to this bubble? Why do always sound so republican-ish?

"the greed culture so heavily promoted by the republicans" -- LOL!

What will you say when they come for yours, comrade? My guess is you won't be singing Kum Ba Yah.

There's a huge distance between a sickly savage capitalist culture of exploitation and fucking over your fellow man to get ahead and the confiscation of everybody's money.

But you selfish people know that. It just serves your limited intellect to not see grey.

People who choose to nurture a greed culture and support leaders who do shouldn't bitch when that greed screws up the housing market. That's all I'm saying.

Your well-developed intellect isn't working too well if you believe greed can explain this mess. IMO the oh-so-egalitarian notion that everybody should own a home lead to this fiasco. Lending standards were intentionally relaxed so the "less fortunate" among us wouldn't have to bother with pesky things like down-payments or proving they earned enough income to pay their bills.

Sorry comrade, you can't blame those evil capitalists for this one. If they ran the show you'd need 30% down to get a mortgage.

The speculative real estate market is estimated to account for as much as 40% of sales, particularly those obnoxious high rise condos popping up all over. Flipping, another culprit pushing up prices, is pure greed.

Turning something as basic and necessary as shelter into a difficult to afford commodity is nothing short of savage capitalism.

But you go on and vote in the greed-based republicans and/or pseudo-republicans. Don't be surprised as income inequality grows, life becomes less affordable and your chosen leaders do nothing about it. When we start looking like Latin America, where 10% hold all the wealth and everyone else fights for scraps, perhaps you'll wake up. Until then, if this is your blog, you have little or no credibility bitching about what has happened to the housing market in this country.

Too bad your own greed and selfishness aren't apparent to you.
