Numero Uno is the ChimpenFuhrer.

Numero Two is horse-face Hillary and her band of politically-correct scaredy-cats.

Just appoint Britney Spears as President and in short order she will take care of Iran's Ahmedbuggiwug and Helicopter Ben...

The biggest problem is christian taliban fundies trying to take over the US government. They want to make the USA into a theocracy, if you don't believe just take a look at Dobson in Colorado Springs.

The 2nd largest problem is fear-mongering for political gain. The threat is always WAY overstated. It plays well to the paranoid mindset of the cuntservative persuasion. The piece of shit traitor GOP has perfected screaming this bullshit at the top of their lungs to their moronic base.

Mommeeeeee! Make the scary fat preacherman go away!

>>>after all he scares me more than Middle Eastern moon god killers.

They both suck. Are you one of those people who can only think about one thing at a time?

I am a republican who is mad as hell! Bush is NOT a conservative! This drunken spending binge our country has been on since Bush took office is simply outrageous.

BTW, there are many uninformed people in the general public that believe the “noecons” come from the conservative movement, yet NOTHING could be further from the truth!

Origins of Neo Conservatisism - a neoconservative is a "liberal mugged by reality," meaning someone who has become more conservative after seeing the practical impact of liberal foreign and domestic policies (aka lies).
The forerunners of neoconservativism were generally liberals or socialists who strongly supported the Second World War, and who were influenced by the Depression-era ideas of former New Dealers, trade unionists, and Trotskyists, particularly those who followed the political ideas of Max Shachtman.

So when it starts getting bad, you blame the neo-cons for being liberals. Awesome.

Being a socialist, I would recommend reading A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn. After reading this, you will understand why I feel that Clintom, Boxer, Kennnedy, Kerry, etc...are not liberals. With a two party system, you have the choice between two parties aligned with two different groups of multinational corporations (and other businesses). It is differntiated fascism. Fascism defined as "the perfect marriage between government and business."

USA citizens are doing just fine. Low unenployment. Plenty of food. Plenty of cars, TV, TV games and all kinds of sports to particpate in and watch on TV.

I worked in welfare for 30 years and 90% of people getting aid could if they would just dig in and work they could take care of thermselves. Yes they need encouragement.

They can do better. Yes there are those that need help.

Helen Keller, after getting help became a lecturer and took care of her financial needs and she could not see or hear. Good grief this poor little me attitude is rediculus in the USA.

Why is all of South America running to USA? Because they are strong and willing to work. There is opportunity in the USA or they would not come.

What is the Major Problem in the USA. A lack of Gratitude in the heart of those living in the USA.

what the heck do you have against the Brady Bunch? carol's HOT

Because respectable Republican businessmen will llegally hire them under the table to drive down citizens' wages and let those same citizens pick up the cost of their cheap labor's health care and education.

It's the American Way!

I only deal with facts, and the truth is this movement started in the political left, NOT conservatives.

"After reading this, you will understand why I feel that Clintom, Boxer, Kennnedy, Kerry, etc...are not liberals."

You’re right, they’re not liberals in a classic sense, however they are complete fools who don’t have our best interest at heart!

Classical liberalism ~ is a political ideology that embraces individual rights, private property and a laissez-faire economy, a government that exists to protect the liberty of each individual from others, and a constitution that protects individual autonomy from governmental power. It is often seen as being the natural ideology of the industrial revolution and its subsequent capitalist system. Ideas such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of thought, self-responsibility, and free markets were first proposed by classical liberal thinkers before they were also adopted by thinkers of other ideologies. Classical liberals tend to focus on the individual, freedom, reason, justice and toleration. Classical liberal ideas inspired both the American Revolution and the French Revolution.

"Being a socialist, I would recommend reading A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn."

Well you're sure the hell not a liberal!

I would recommend you move to France were unemployment is usually in the double digits, the standard of living is below ours. But hey, you only have to 30 hours a week, and you get 4 times as much paid vacation. I can see why a lazy, unmotivated air breather would want that type of system!

Get you brown shirt on and start working on that goose step. :)

They might have started on the left, but they have been on the right for almost forty years, and it is among the right wing establishment that they have found power.

The post dealing with Strauss and his political philosophy is an excellent one, and everyone here should read it carefully. Not one American in a thousand knows the least bit about Strauss, and yet he is currently the most influential political philosopher among our ruling elite.

The Straussians are well and truly fascists. They hate democracy and believe that the people are not to be trusted with the truth. Their "philosophy" is absolutely antithetical to every principle on which America is founded. Jefferson, Paine, and the others would rightly see these people as nothing more than despots.

The Straussians are the greatest threat to America today, worse than subversive professors, bigmouthed Hollywood actors, people who like French food, artificially-inseminated lesbians, schoolteachers who don't like Bush, Target employees who say "happy holidays," and all the other familiar right wing bogiemen.

Will real conservatives ever work up the nerve to expose and discredit these people who have brought conservatism into such disrepute?

I get mad when people like YOU try to equate the born again gang in this country with Middle Eastern zealots that would kill you in an instant. Despite reverend Fallwell’s ignorant words, he’s never beheaded anyone.

I made no such equivalency.

Have you ever considered responding to what other posters actually say, rather than what the voices in your head tell you they really meant to say?

It will make you look like not quite so big a boob.

The BIGGEST probem? Rank stupidity and an educational system that serves the needs of teachers before all else.

A dark age is often defined as a time when people forget that certain accomplishments of the past were even possible. Farmers in mediaeval Europe were happy with one bushel of wheat per acre, and thought it a gift from God when they managed 3 bushels. They didn't remember that under Roman occupation farms produced about 10 bushels per acre on average.

IMO we're not far from falling into another dark-age rat hole because our kids are leaving schools uneducated, fat, and lazy.

Yes!

Finally a defense of "classical liberalism".

This is why I am a liberal---a.k.a. Real Liberal---I affirm the values of the Enlightenment as indeed being morally superior.

The neocons, or the paleocons, respect none of these.

Cons: eager to justify their prejudices and selfishness.

Neocons: Fascists dripping with insufferability, cruelty and wrapped in a grotesque mask of Plato and Robespierre.

Throughout history, conservatives have fought bitterly against the ideas of liberals in the name of upholding the ideals of dead liberals.

You forgot the "Hate America First" crowd for sabotaging our efforts. Because getting even for losing elections IS more important than winning wars.

And the professional race-baiters maybe?

And Paris Hilton definitely.

And the bozos who complain about the ONE right-leaning cable network, among all the other left-leaning networks. I guess it's not fair.

Biggest problem: not enough partying. Planet Nerf sucks!!

Al Qaeda was never a threat worthy of the resources that we have thrown at it. Certainly was not worth the damage to our cival liberties. If the republican party wants to protect my children and I then protect us from drunk driving. More than 3000 deaths from driving fatalities every month ... month after month ... year after year. Sixty percent of those deaths due to drunk driving.

My family is more at risk due to accidental drowning, or even slip-and-falls, or accidental poisoningthan they ever were due to Al Qaeda. The strength of that organization has been blow out of proportion for the Bush crime families politcal gain.

What are you morons giving up your hard earned cash and liberties for?

Small Pox and Iraq ----->
Bird flu and Iran. Here we go again.

Rank stupidity and an educational system that serves the needs of teachers before all else.

I've worked in both secondary and higher ed, so let me tell you what we see:

1. Students who think that learning is for geeks.

2. Parents who share that attitude, but still think that little Dakota and Meighan should get good grades just for showing up and will try to get you fired for giving their precious little hellspawn the grades they earned.

3. Parents who blame the teachers when their kids act up.

4. Students who have no reasoning or readings skills whatsoever because they have spent their school years doing standardized tests.

5. Learning materials that have been made as bland and inoffensive (and boring) as possible, lest someone be exposed to an idea he doesn't agree with and run to the school board and complain.

Am I bitter? Actually, no. I wouldn't be doing anything else. Something good happens in the classroom every day, and that keeps me going back.

But Americans really have developed a lousy attitude about learning, and it's going to ruin us. I honestly think that we have been too prosperous for too long. We've come to think that prosperity is our birthright, and we are about to find out how wrong we are.

Well said. Bad parenting ---> Unmotivated students ---> Whining parents blaiming everyone but them selves.
Face it more than 50% of
Americans have parental skills so poor that they simply should not be parents.
